Now here we have the iconic Pennsylvania Railroad GG1 electric locomotives. There are four of them in my roster of TTTE OC engines from the PRR: Glenn (brunswick green five-stripe #4927), Gracie (tuscan red five-stripe #4877), Garrison (brunswick green five-stripe #4919), and Gaby (tuscan red five-stripe #4913). And these images will be here for Grantgfan to use when the time comes.

Why is Google like this?? I have questions
So, if you Google MBS and click on the "Cast" button, you get this:
Tumblr media
I mean, it's got all the main characters. It's got Martina and Jackson and Jillson (But not SQ for some reason?) It's got the leader of the fake Water Polo team and Dr. Garrison. Good, good
AND THEN THERE'S THIS GUY
Tumblr media
I checked and he is credited as "McCabe" in four episodes in Season One.
I think I remember him??? McCabe is the name signed on the Glenn's adoption paperwork I think? Maybe he was a Gray?? Why is he in this line up?? It doesn't even list his role here, I had to go to IMDB to check.
WHY IS HE HERE???

Legend of Lightning Chapter 79. Another Rescue

Tumblr media
The young man called Noreth Hans groaned pitifully as he came to. “What happened?”
“You tried to free us, and they caught you.”
Noreth turned to see who had spoken. He sharing a cargo crate with a bunch of Twi’leks.
“You don’t remember us?”
“He got hit pretty bad, Frank.”
“True. I’m Franklen Moss. These are Videl Jessope, Rubin Murdoch, Oisin Esselrum, Juvi Hartnilf, Lexon Gordem, Brad Hoff, Ren Morwen, Bedam Joshnick, Mira Glenns, Ava Dupree, and Rupert Alench. We’re the Hawkeyes.”
“Oh, right… Admiral Rissere sentenced you to death…”
“We don’t even know why,” Moss said, voice shaking. “I mean, sure, we’re dangerous. But we’re also useful—”
“I guess something happened that made the risks outweigh the benefits. The Republic returned. And they scored two major victories. One of those was without firing a single shot. I believe the entire garrison at Ginger post surrendered after opening fire on themselves.”
The Hawkeyes looked awed and terrified. “Knowing doesn’t really help us feel better,” Juvi said in a depressed voice.
“At least we know that Balmorra might be free of the Imperials soon.”

With the popularity in recent years of the TV reboot series Cobra Kai, it’s always good to go back to revisit the original series of films – if for no other reason than to brush up on some of the characters who appear in Cobra Kai. Therefore, this first release on 4KUltra HD and Blu-ray of the first three Karate Kid films – The Karate Kid, The Karate Kid Part II and The Karate Kid Part III – is a nice way of catching up. And – at least in the case of the first film – it has much more to offer than that.
Technically this is not the complete Karate Kid lineup. There is a 5-movie collection released several years ago which is still available on DVD. That grouping also includes The Next Karate Kid (1994) in which Mr. Miyagi takes on a new student, a young girl played a then-unknown Hilary Swank. It also includes the awful 2010 reboot of the series with Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan – and the less said about that film, the better. Neither of those films are really missed in this collection. In fact, an argument could be made about whether anyone will rewatch Part II and Part III more than once or twice.
However, I think it makes sense to limit this collection to the three films which feature Ralph Macchio as Danny LaRusso and Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi, all of which were written by Robert Mark Kamen and directed by John D. Avildsen. (Only Morita was involved in the fourth film, and none of the original cast or crew took part in the reboot.)
Of course, the only truly good film of the trilogy (and the franchise) was the first one. The second film had its moments, but eventually tried so hard to up the stakes that it completely spun off the rails. The films are supposed to take place in about a year-long period, although the films took five years between the first and last one.
Even though it is rather predictable and not exactly Oscar-worthy, The Karate Kid deserves its status as a fan favorite feel-good film. It is the story about a scrawny Newark, NJ teen who moves cross country with his mother and quickly falls on the wrong side of the local bullies at his new high school – particularly their leader Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). Unfortunately, the bullies are star karate students, and they are beating Daniel up daily. When he finds out that his new apartment’s handyman, Mr. Miyagi knows karate and is willing to teach him, Daniel joins the local martial arts tournament to prove himself to the bullies.
And yes, despite the somewhat popular revisionist history which likes to paint Johnny as a misunderstood victim – as espoused in popular culture on Cobra Kai and How I Met Your Mother – Johnny is indeed a bully. You can make the argument that he was led astray by his sensei Kreese (Martin Kove). You can make the argument that his heart was broken by losing his ex-girlfriend Ali (Elisabeth Shue) and he took out his anger on her new boyfriend Daniel. Neither of those arguments would be completely wrong, but it is letting him off the hook way too easily. That does not change what he did and how he acted. Just because he had some regrets does not excuse it. In fact, that is part of what makes Cobra Kai so fascinating, it shows the way that Johnny has grown and changed – and the ways that he hasn’t.
What Cobra Kai fans may not remember was that Johnny was essentially only in the first Karate Kid movie. He had a bit part in the opening sequence of the second one which supposedly happened right after the tournament, but never appears again after that – except in flashbacks during the opening credits of Part III. This is the story of Daniel and Mr. Miyagi.
Their story is partially expanded, partially repeated, and partially ramped up in The Karate Kid Part II. And frankly, like so many sequels, especially of this time period, The Karate Kid Part II is so desperate to redo the story but make it bigger and more explosive that it forgets a big part of why the first film was such a hit in the first place. It was a small film about everyday people put into ordinary situations.
Essentially, Part II reframes the original story in Mr. Miyagi’s home village in Okinawa, where he must return because his father is dying. Daniel goes along with him, and quickly he is falling in love with a sweet local girl (Tamlyn Tomita) and falling on the bad side of a local bully (Yuji Okumoto).
Then they double up on the story. Mr. Miyagi also has a potential love interest named Yukie (Nobu McCarthy) as well as a nemesis named Sato (Danny Kamekona). The history between the three goes back 45 years – Mr. Miyagi had fallen in love with Yukie even though she was promised in an arranged marriage to Sato, Miyagi’s best friend. Miyagi ended up leaving for the US to save face, but Sato has never forgiven him for the slight to his honor and never married Yukie. All these years later, Yukie has never been married and Sato is a rich, cruel dojo owner who still wants revenge on his old friend.
It is never completely explained how Mr. Miyagi and Sato – who grew up as best friends and learned about karate from the same teacher – ended up with such diametrically-opposed philosophies about the meanings behind karate. (Miyagi believes karate is for defense only, and Sato’s ideals come down much closer to Kreese’s “No Mercy” stance.) Oh sure, of course there is that 45-year-old rift about a girl, but even that does not explain the hard ideological shift that the two men made.
In fact, the bullies in Part II – Sato included – are much more heinous than the ones encountered in the first film. These guys are obviously willing do anything – bully, lie, cheat, steal, threaten rape and/or murder, destroy a small village – all to defend their own deluded sense of “honor.” Eventually, the storyline of Part II has a lot more going on than the first, and yet it feels like it is trying too hard.
Honestly, I had never seen The Karate Kid Part III before receiving this collection. Even though it returns Daniel and Mr. Miyagi home to Reseda and returns to earlier plot points like the All-Valley Karate Tournament and Cobra Kai as the villains (although with different fighters and a new sensei aiding Kreese (the original sensei character returns but is offscreen and out of the country for much of the story), still the storyline is totally out of whack.
To give just a quick example of how hackneyed the new film was, early on Kreese is taken to the airport by his rich former student Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), where they discuss getting revenge on Daniel and Miyagi. Seconds after Kreese goes in and Silver drives off, Daniel and Miyagi exit the very same door, returning home from the Okinawa trip explored in Part II. That’s one hell of a coincidence of timing.
The new bad guy Terry Silver is cartoonishly, over-the-top evil, with his insincere smile, his nuevo riche lifestyle and his Steven Seagal man ponytail. He even boasts – twice! – that he made his fortune by dumping hazardous waste. And he takes business meetings while soaking naked in a bubble bath – I guess as a power trip, but who really knows why.
The devious plot between Kreese and Silver is simple. Since the last tournament – and a fight in the parking lot which happened in the opening of Part II – the Cobra Kai dojo has lost all of its students. Silver, a Vietnam War buddy of Kreese’s with extremely deep pockets, has been financing the place. They decide that they must not only beat but humiliate LaRusso in the next tournament. So, they are going to get between Daniel and Miyagi and force Daniel to go on his own. And then pain.
For the plan, they hire “the bad boy of karate” to be their main fighter, as well as a couple of other young toughs. Together they will destroy Daniel’s life and relationships and a new Bansai tree business Daniel and Mr. Miyagi have started. (Yes, you read that right.)
Daniel has met yet another new girl in Part III, although refreshingly in this film it is more of a friendship than yet another love of Daniel’s life. (She drops the “boyfriend at home” bomb on him early on.)
Like in Part II, the new bad kids suggest not so subtly that they are not above murder, thievery, extortion or rape to get their way. They are also very blatantly racist.
Part III is by far the worst chapter of the trilogy, but it helps to tell the whole story. It is nice to have all three Karate Kid adventures together in one big package, although as I noted above, I can’t imagine watching any of the ones other than the original very often.

Grimm: Psychometric Imprints
Of all the inexplicable and terrifying phenomena associated with Grimm, psychometric imprints are perhaps the most deserving of that recognition. Also known as locational memories, these sites are repositories of negative emotions that have become metaphysically embedded within the very earth. Because Grimm have the ability to detect them via algeaception, they are drawn to these places, and often tend to reside there. In large groups, no less.
Although the underlying mechanisms aren’t fully understood, it’s widely-accepted that mass trauma is the prerequisite for catalyzing their formation. Despair, panic, rage—the impressions of long-faded suffering radiate from the site, and continue to beckon Grimm, sometimes even centuries after the inciting incident occurred. This makes reclaiming these areas virtually impossible, as there’s currently no method to dispel the ambient pain. All prior attempts have ended in casualties and failure (and, if some theories are to be believed, only exacerbated the underlying phenomena).
As far as what specific criteria is needed to trigger them, there’s little in the way of consensus among scholars. Some argue that it’s the number of people involved that determines it; others still believe that the intensity of the emotions during the initial event is what matters. Whether or not death is a mandatory factor remains a subject of debate, even if tentative findings have noted a potential correlation. The inciting event itself can be nearly anything—a town swallowed up by an earthquake; a battlefield where countless warriors fell; a settlement consumed by the outbreak of disease; a village set to the torch by soldiers; a community wiped out by Grimm. All of these scenarios can, and have, given rise to psychometric imprints.
Why psychometric imprints form at all, or what their purpose is, has yet to be deduced.
Either way, it’s as close to a hell on earth as one can get.
Noteworthy Locations
Suicide Valley — Despite its misleading name, Suicide Valley is actually a canyon. West of Kuebiko lies a vista of foliage-lined escarpments with wide, sweeping basins in-between. The area is rich with natural resources, and distinguished by one in particular—Glow Dust. Specifically, a Dust vortex. When glimpsed from the cliff’s edge at night, the limestone walls glitter with thousands of pinpricks of light, cast by the Dust embedded within the rock. It’s an enticing view that has, for generations, lured many to their deaths. It’s not currently known what tragedy rendered the area a psychometric imprint, but the vortex of Aboleth (star in Old Mistrali-Mantic) has only compounded matters. Those that sought to excavate the Dust were frequently unaware that they blindly traipsed into danger, and by the time the realization hit them, it was often too late. Over the years, mining corporations such as the SDC have tried to harvest from the area, to no avail. Grimm activity eventually overwhelms whatever security measures were put in place, forcing businesses to cut their losses. To try and mine the Dust is suicide. A small wonder, then, why the valley was named such.
Redsand Altar — When discussed within the context of the Great War, this Vacuose military outpost is referred to by historians as Last Stand. When spoken of by archotherologists, Redsand Altar is the preferred name. This psychometric imprint was formed eighty years ago, when the armies of Remnant’s four Great Powers converged. The ensuing bloodbath was death unprecedented, and from the desert the Grimm came, bidden like flies to a corpse. The combined animosity of battle, and panic elicited by the Grimm, transformed the fortress into the windswept, sun-bleached ruin it is today. Battlements once garrisoned and patrolled by soldiers are now under the occupation and near-constant vigil of Grimm. From afar, Virovultr can be seen perched upon the merlons, while Death Stalkers lay half-buried in the sand.
Mountain Glenn — Southeast of Vale’s capital is what remains of Mountain Glenn, the kingdom’s first attempted expansion since the Great War came to a close. Nearly two decades ago, the area was selected as a prospective site for a new city. Its placement was ideal as a halfway point between the cities of Sumire, Lower Cairn, and Eldegoss, while the network of adjoining caves was the perfect foundation for a subway into Vale Proper. Tragedy struck five years after the aboveground portion of Mountain Glenn was completed. During further construction of the rail system, workers accidentally unearthed a number of dormant Grimm. Disturbed from their torpor, they set upon their hapless prey with teeth and claws. The ensuing chaos below Mountain Glenn caused enough widespread hysteria on the surface to draw in Grimm from the surrounding forests and crags. Trapped on all sides, the residents of the city were consumed, despite the efforts of Huntsmen dispatched to the city. The council—fearful that the Grimm would attempt to follow the half-finished rail lines into the capital—were forced to seal the subway and recall Vale’s Huntsmen to prevent further casualties. The lasting trauma turned Mountain Glenn into one of Vale’s largest psychometric imprints. To this day, scientists aren’t sure why there were so many dormant Grimm residing in the tunnels, or where they came from. And with how dangerous the derelict city has become, it’s unlikely that question will ever be answered.
Chamenos – Perhaps the most notorious of the psychometric imprints, despite being the least studied. Dating back roughly four millennia, this ancient city-state goes by numerous titles—the Desolation of Anima; the Necropolis. Each name is, in its own way, appropriately fitting. The ruins of Chamenos lay on the western outskirts of the Daolag Dunes, overlooking the body of water known as Seafarer’s Regret. Precious little of the city’s past has been uncovered, with most of its history being sourced second-hand from the records of neighboring provinces. Venturing into the city is a fool’s errand, for the ruins are inhabited by a diversity of Grimm species, including Typhangs, Griffons, and Hydras. Even licensed Huntsmen refuse to travel to this out-of-the-way place. According to the more superstitious members of the Mistrali population, Chamenos was cursed and razed by the gods. How else could one explain its disappearance within the span of a single day and night? More than likely, researchers posit, the city was destroyed by a Category 5 Grimm. While the vast majority of people avoid Chamenos and the surrounding area out of fear, the same can’t be said for pirates, smugglers, and bandits. A lack of prying eyes and interference from the Mistrali government, after all, makes the nearby islands an ideal place to cache illegal goods, or plot in secret.

The short era of "Pax Americana" after World War II was one of [the] completing profound changes for Euro-Amerikan society. Those expansionist years of 1945-1965, when U.S. military and economic power lorded over the entire non-socialist world, saw the final promotion of the white proletariat. This was an en masse promotion so profound that it eliminated not only consciousness, but the class itself.
Just as in the 19th Century, the Euro-Amerikan bourgeoisie both watered-down class contradictions and reinforced its settler garrison over the continental Empire by absorbing immigrant European nationalities fully into the U.S. oppressor nation. This 20th Century cycle had begun in the anti-communist "Americanization" campaign of the World War I period; it reached its decisive point in the accommodation between the imperialist State and the dependent, settleristic CIO unions of the 1930s. The process was sealed by the post-World War II imperialist feast, finally laying to rest the class contradictions of the period of industrial unionism. [...]
In these years the Euro-Amerikan workers moved upwards, increasingly handing over their places in basic production to colonial workers. Broom and Glenn summarized in the 1960's: "Between 1940 and 1960, the total number of employed white workers increased by nearly 12 million, or 81 per cent, while the total employed labor force increased by only 37 per cent. Hundreds of thousands of white workers have moved up into higher-level jobs, leaving vacancies at intermediate levels that could be filled by [Black people] ... [Black people] are now well represented in semi-skilled work and in industrial unions..." (2) Once driven, step-by-step during the 19th Century, out of U.S. industry they had created, Afrikans were recruited anew into the factories. They, along with Chicano-Mexicano and Puerto Rican labor, would keep production growing while most Euro-Amerikan workers laid down their tools, one by one.[...]
By the 1960's the transformation of labor was very visible. In the great Chicago-Gary steelmill district over 50% of the workers were Third World (primarily Chicano-Mexicano and Afrikan). In the Detroit area Chrysler plants at that time the clear majority of production workers were Afrikan (while the skilled trades, supervisors and office staffs were Euro-Amerikan). In some plants, such as Dodge Main, the percentage of Afrikan workers was 80-90%. Chrysler Tank Arsenal, the main producer of U.S. Army heavy tanks, was overwhelmingly Afrikan. (When it had first opened in 1942, Chrysler had decreed that only Euro-Amerikans could work there.) The UAW officiallyestimated in 1970 that 25% of all auto workers were Afrikan. The League of Revolutionary Black Workers disagreed, saying instead that Afrikan workers were then closer to 45% of the primary auto production force.[...]
Essential production and socially useful work occupy a gradually diminishing place in the domestic activity of U.S. corporations, in the work of its settler citizens, in the imperial culture. Decadence is taking over in an even deeper way, in which non-essential and parasitic things become the most profitable, while worthless activities are thought the most important. Always present within imperialism, this decadence now becomes dominant within the oppressor nation.
We can see this in the dramatic increase of the non-productive layers in economic life. While this phenomenon is centered in the rule of finance capital, its manifestation appears in all imperialist institutions. Advertising, marketing, package design, finance, "corporate planning," etc. mushroom with each corporation. Management on all levels grows as numbers of production workers shrink. When one includes the large army of white-collar clerical workers needed to maintain management and carry out its work, the proportions become visibly lop-sided. At Weyerhaeuser, the large timberland and natural resources corporation, top executives and professionals alone (not including supervisors, foremen and clerical workers) account for one out of every six employees. At the Southern Pacific Railroad, one out of every ten employees is in management. [...]
When we look at the overall distribution of employed Euro-Amerikans, we see that in 1980 white-collar workers, professionals and managers were 54% - a majority - and service employees an additional 12%. Only 13.5% were ordinary production and transportation workers. That is only 13 out of every 100 employed Euro-Amerikans. By 1982 there were thought to be more Third-World domestic servants in California alone than Euro-Amerikan workers in the entire U.S. steel industry.

i really feel like there's an elephant in the room when it comes to all these discussions of the so-called "baby boomer generation".
