I've been putting together a more cohesive timeline for my Sentient Machine Universe 29A with the timeline spanning across different eras. One of these is the "Post Cold War Era" which lasts from the end of the Cold War in 1991 to the start of an A.I War in 2022.

Here I've created a map to show the state of the world during the later half of that era. I would like to point out that the timeline of this era in the 29A Universe is different to that of our own timeline, as it takes place in a world in which Hong Kong was never handed back to Mainland China (This is evident when you see that Hong Kong is in blue just like the rest of the UK territories). Remaining a part of Britain as an Overseas Territory, and the Great Recession of the late 2000s never happened with China being the only one to suffer a Recession during 2008 due to poor economic planning and policy which results in a Civil War that leads to the collapse of the communist regime in 2013, with China becoming a democratic republic with Taiwan voting to rejoin the mainland not long after.

Ukraine also joins the EU in 2013 during this timeline, meaning the events of 2014 also never happen, however it does lead to Russia returning as a world superpower during 2014 when the country merges with Belarus to form the Union State of Russo-Belarus.

More details about this era will be reveal once I have the entire timeline of 29A figured out, along with events being featured and mentioned throughout the timeline.

Climate warming in the USA

The USDA just released its new plant hardiness map, the national standard for understanding areas of extreme low temperatures, helping farmers and gardeners know where to best grow which plants:

Overall, the 2023 map is about 2.5° Fahrenheit warmer than the 2012 map across the United States, meaning about half of the country shifted to a warmer 5°F half zone. The central plains and Midwest has warmed the most.

not all businesses & govt offices in my area are great about staying on top of flag code so it's pretty easy to end up like me, pulling into a library parking lot, seeing a flag at half mast. and whenever that happens and I don't already know why it's at half, I always do the same thing, which is start yelling, "FUCK!!!! anyway yeah it was for the pope, which should have been obvious, but the post office flags were all Regular. but every single time, I think I maybe missed the news on a terrorist attack or a mass shooting or something, and every time it is the same feeling as going, "huh, weather looks bad today," and then DISTANTLY HEARING tornado or tsunami sirens and realizing you may have actually fucked up exactly 120 minutes ago in a way that's about to negatively impact your whole week
