The great thing about God is you don't need to schedule an appointment to meet with Him.

He is available every second of every day. #godisnear

Even when you don't feel Him, God is there. #godspresence

Closer than we think

So the other morning, I whipped out a recipe book for shakes only to find out midway through that I didn’t have one of the key ingredients— yogurt. With very little time to overthink, I quickly reached for an irrelevant and completely non-related substitution— #cashews. What was supposed to be a vanilla Almond-date shake ended up as an accidental vegan Egg Nog. And I’d never been happier because since going vegan, I’ve been seriously Egg Nog deprived (that should be a real condition). I’d like to call yesterday’s dilemma a happy accident (: tis the season 🥛☃️❄️

The true reason why I’m posting about this is is because I want you all to know that God is truly amazing. What you may not realize is that just the day before I made this shake, Egg Nog had been on my mind. To some, it may just be just another ole’ drink, but to me, my love for it runs deep. The creamy beverage has so many memories attached to it, especially childhood ones of my dad. This is just one of those likings that I have that only God truly knows and understands— after all, He is the one who created me and gave me such a liking for it.

Since going vegan, I hadn’t been able to relish the holiday beverage the way that I used to because it contains ingredients that aren’t vegan-friendly. And I remember just thinking like, man, God.. I really do miss it. Little did I know that God would actually show up for me the way that He did. Literally, the the very next morning, without even thinking of Egg Nog anymore, without even looking to create a vegan-friendly version, vegan Egg Nog had been accidentally (with a wink from God) birthed in my blender. And it’s crazy because God does consider the “little” things, the things that we don’t think are worth Him caring about. And He delights in bringing us joy in those very same things. Something as simple as me missing and wanting a glass of Egg Nog means so much to God than what I sometimes— and often fail to— realize. He’s in every single detail of our lives. He’s just that close.
