everyone talks about "oh what if Percy could bloodbend" but I think there is woeful little discussion about other potentially fucked up big 3 kid powers:
I mean it's already canonical Hades/Pluto kids can just. straight up kill you. Like literally Nico can just tap people on the shoulder and they get Thanos Snapped. Totally fucking dusted. Sometimes bones are left and he just starts controlling that but that seems to be optional. He does it like three times in Tower of Nero.
Not to mention Nico also being able to just rip people's souls out of their still living bodies. Is that a Ghost King thing or a Hades kid thing or a combo from both? Who knows.
All the different ways Big 3 kids can make somebody just. Explode. Zeus* kids can just build up air pressure, Poseidon kids can build up water/blood pressure, and Hades kids can just make your bones splinter and shoot out.
I don't think Zeus kids would be able to mind-control people by controlling electrical impulses BUT they could just send several thousand volts directly through you via touch so like. That's not great.
Bloodbending for Poseidon kids is obvious but Hades kids have SO many options to potentially control people. Puppet their bones? Control their actual literal soul? If you go the route of "shadows are connected to the person" then dragging somebody around by their shadow? Or given that Hades kids are heavily implied to just have nearly all abilities ghosts are said to, there's a decent chance they could Just Straight Up Possess You.
Poseidon kids can control blood (and actually exemplified in canon - seemingly just about any bodily fluid, as Percy makes Achlys start choking on her own tears/snot). They could also theoretically completely dehydrate you in an instant.
Zeus* kids meanwhile can. Make air bubbles in your blood or etc. Which is VERY bad for those of you who are unaware. Hades kids can probably just yoink all the metals out of your blood. Casually revokes your iron privileges. Poseidon kids are just yoinking your blood In General. Etc etc.
And then yknow, the casual natural disasters stuff. Zeus kids making tornados and hurricanes? Plus the aforementioned just throwing massive amounts of electricity around. Probably also able to make dust storms and stuff. Poseidon kids making hurricanes and floods and earthquakes? Or being able to create geysers just wherever they want? Hades kids also being able to make earthquakes or just shatter the ground or create giant ravines and etc. And, yknow, ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. And aforementioned insta-killing I guess. Bonus Hera kids probably being able to also do tornados and dust storms and etc, possibly moreso than Zeus kids.
*Zeus with an asterisk because wind/air powers actually seem to be more of an Hera/Juno thing and so exclusive to Jason and not Thalia, while Zeus/Jupiter seems to be just the storms/electricity.

Imagine one day Persephone comes to camp and everyone is freaking out "it's so rare for a god to physically show up at camp ! She must have a very important quest to give !" But then she walks to Nico and says "Hi Nico, next time you see your dad can you tell him I forgot my dandelion earrings at his palace?" And he's like "for the love of Olympus Persephone I told you to not talk to me in front of other campers it's so embarrassing"
Bonus point if he's with Will and she looks at him and goes
Persephone, smirking : you must be Will
Nico : Persephone
Persephone: Nico told me quite a lot about you
Nico : I'll ask Alecto to bring your earrings back to you. Can you go now

Can't believe that Rick hasn't tapped the comedy gold mine that is every demigod having to do stupid errands for gods to get any sort of gift or favour... except for Nico, who can get his way just by asking. Not even asking nicely, he can be as much of a little shit as he likes and still get whatever he wants. Give me the Seven finding out that gods will give Nico anything he asks for just because. Everyone else has to do these stupid side quests even when their goals align with those of the god they're trying to win over! The Seven have to sacrifice a ship full of stupid amounts of treasure just to convince Bacchus to bonk a couple giants (who he already wanted dead) on the nose and take all the credit! Percy saved the world twice and still has to do quests for rec letters! And then here comes Nico di Angelo, strolling up to the gods casually and looking at them with his big sad doe eyes and going "Have you considered that I'm baby" and every god he meets goes "Hm, you are absolutely baby" and gives him everything he wants. Leo had to lowkey sacrifice Percy and Annabeth before Nemesis would deign to help him save Frank and Hazel, but she runs into Nico and is like "You want me to save your ass from Gaea's army and ensure you'll survive your imprisonment later? Absolutely, no cost, keep doing exactly what you're doing" and this is fair and balanced behaviour. Can Rick please reveal in Chalice of the Gods that Ares is among the gods who melts into a little puddle when Nico asks him for favours, I would kill to see Percy realize that he had to do a stupid fetch quest into a trap to get a handkerchief just for Ares to make his life harder but Nico can just ask and Ares does shit for him. Because that's fair. I just think it would be very funny!

Demigod: it really sucks that we never get to see or interact with our godly parent.
Other Demigod: yeah, I'd be nice to meet them.
TOA era Apollo kids: *see their dad every once in awhile* ... Yeah
Dionysus kids: *Dad is at camp* ..yeah
Percy: *has been to his Dads home* ...mhm
Nico: *literally has a room in the underworld*

I wish we had gotten the POV of someone with more of a history with their godly parent during the Battle of the Acropolis. And by that I mean either Percy or Annabeth. If Nico or Thalia had been there I would have been okay with their POVs too.
Can you imagine the tension, angst, and yearning during the fight? Did they trade words or battle banter? Annabeth had recently dealt with the fallout of the Mark of Athena, and now she has to fight alongside the one who started that whole mess. This would have made for an excellent opportunity to address Annabeth's feelings and relationship with Athena across the series, giving that background plotline that has been since The Lightning Thief closure.
Or maybe the appearance of multiple sons of Poseidon across HOO foreshadows a final talk between Percy and Poseidon after the fight. After they can finally stand physically together side by side. Percy, after being left alone by his father once the Great Prophecy ended, feels the true (maybe now fully unconditional) support of his father for the first time in his life. A great send-off for Percy as a protagonist before focusing on new characters in the next sagas.
Just... they were DEMIGODS fighting alongside their GODLY PARENTS. That was huge. The kind of shit you only saw in fanfics. I just feel it could have been... more(?).

Hestia going to Olympus for some shindig and watching Poseidon and Zeus argue about something stupid, which is mostly Poseidon saying the dumbest thing possible with the intent to piss of Zeus who knows he's being stupid on purpose but can't stop himself from getting frustrated by it, while Hades very deliberately ignores them and straight up turns around and walks off every time one of the two try to bring him into the argument.
And then she comes back to Camp to find Percy and Thalia arguing about the same fucking thing - Percy specifically being dumb on purpose to aggravate Thalia who keeps falling for it despite knowing better, while Nico literally crawls under a table with his dinner to avoid being dragged into the conversation.
As it is in heaven, so it is on earth or however the saying goes, idk, I'm not Catholic.

Hi. I really like your headcanons I've read about the di Angelo family. I think you mentioned in one of your fanfics Maria's parents outliving her, so I was wondering if you think they knew she was dead? Do you think they looked for her or bianca and nico?
ohhhhhh man, di angelo family time :D
in my hcs, the di angelos were aristocracy, and, not shitting you, up to the early 20th century, some people truly believed aristocrats/nobility were put in the world to rule by God, so why not make that godS? I hc that some aristocratic families have a godly ancestor, in other words, making them legacies
now, whether they know that or not.. it's a fable some people believe and some don't. maria's parents being legacies is a thing I need in life (specially if it's one family descended from romans and the other from greeks), so I hc maria's parents thinking it's all bullshit until they meet hades and then they're like "y'know, this fellow seems strangely powerful, maybe it wasn't as mythical as we thought" (I think I wrote that into the last chapter of ancestors, that they do recognise hades, too tired to check, but self promo time yaay)
I do think they'd find out maria's dead. let's not forget her father was a diplomat in the US, meaning he had contacts there, we can guess they would've told him about the situation if hades himself didn't
the question is, what did hades tell them about the kids?? bc they were alive, yet hades could've lied.. frankly, I think hades told them the truth "I'll hide them bc my brother is trying to kill them". if he had lied, then the di angelos would've made an effort to get proof or the bodies, while if they were told the truth, it would hurt but it would mean the children were safe and had to be kept in hiding
that and I want nico to inherit everything, that way he can make his grandparents' giant ancestral house into a home for demigods in europe/the mediterranean who can't get to the US for whatever reason (bc let's face it, CHB only works if you're USian and/or rich)

jasico server was chatting about the cupid scene and jason getting nico's memories blasted straight into his brain and how jason being shot with one of cupid's arrows while with nico and this was just never brought up in canon again and now i'm thinking like...what if that's just how cupid's arrows work? not by magically manifesting love for someone out of nothing, but by giving someone the perspective that'd make them fall in love naturally? jason gets a front row seat to nico's memories and instantly understands him intimately and can trust him completely without any doubt or suspicion
so what if jason, after slowly realizing he's totally in love with nico, just thought back to the arrow incident and it made him second-guess everything? because maybe he's only feeling this way because cupid hit him with an arrow with only nico was around and it's no different than any other god messing with his love life

Once upon a time, mankind believed in gods.
They believed that things that cannot be solved by human strength were the will of the gods.
They thought that the sky, which they could not dare to reach, was the place where the gods lived.
Until the gods came down, and claimed mankind as pets.

i think it's really interesting that Hades/Pluto is associated with noxious fumes, with temples to him (Ploutonions) being built often on sites of poisonous gases, and there's some evidence in the Riordanverse that Hades/Pluto kids have at least some mild resistance to toxins possibly because of this association (Hazel surviving the katobleps' poison, Nico having little reaction to normally excruciatingly painful werewolf scratches, etc etc). we should do more with that.

People on TikTok saying that Hades is the best godly parent because he didn’t abandon his kid, and I’m just looking at all my old posts about how Hades was still a horrible godly parent despite letting Nico live in the underworld…
All godly parents are pieces of shit, and I’m sorry, but this includes Hades.

i love percy jackson as a main character so much but i also hate how op he is. like i love that he has all these powers and is super powerful and gods are scared of him but i hate how i have to stretch to justify someone beating him in a fight. like. yeah he can manipulate blood if he tried but imagin if nico had to push past what he thought was morally right and use his powers to the capacity that percy did? there’s electricity in the brain, what if thalia could control that? what about clovis? hypnos is a primordial, he’d probably be a little more powerful than a typical demigod?

All of Percy’s camp and college friends coming to see his shows (because he looks hot as a mermaid) but also to cause chaos bc Percy is affectionate
(Some people do come genuinely to support him but some just think it’s funny)
It’s doubly funny for those whose godly parents are there trying to flirt with Percy. Chris, Connor, and Travis have an understanding with the Apollo cabin (among other tbh) where at least one of them (or if no one else is available Nico) is at every show to head off their dads.
Apollo and Hermes are seething as every show without fail Percy walks right past them to hang off of one of their kids.

I went hunting through the Riordan wiki for this
[Image ID: A guy labelled "Percy & Nico" is saying "I can explain!" A woman labelled "Annabeth & Hazel" says "Your godly parents are pretty involved in your lives? Ours only show up when it's convenient!" A different woman labelled "Piper & Frank" says "Ours only showed up for a quest!" Another guy labelled "Jason & Leo" says "You guys are meeting your godly parents?"]
