you know, I think in a way it is the fates' greatest mercy - to have all the scariest and most horrible things in my life happen in full sun, in warmth, surrounded by blooming flowers and ripening fruit and buzzing bees. filled with birdsong, carried by wild wind, late spring and late summer.

to always have days of strongest, hottest, most beautiful weather during times of grief and misery - to have the sun envelop me immediately, and dry the tears as soon as they appear.

Hornigold's Izzy was the worst, of course. A version of himself that never escaped that terrible place, who lived his life as little more than an object. He still has nightmares about all the things Baz told them, about all the things he didn't.

It doesn't really surprise him, after the first ones, not at its root. To be Izzy Hands is to be someone's after all, though seeing his own face on someone so fundamentally different to him never gets less weird. The people who these other Izzys attached themselves too often left him with more questions than answers. Jack's Izzy, he can understand, from a certain view, though the man himself felt like a fever dream. The less said about Stede's Izzy the better, he's never going to forgive him for the ideas he put in his Stede's head.

Then there was Sam's Izzy.

The first thing anyone noticed about him was that he was happy. He smiled and laughed without thought, and went through life with an ease Izzy didn't think he had ever felt. The crew took to him immediately, accepting him in a way they never did the other Izzys, and certainly not their own. They prodded him and asked him endless questions, and he took every touch without a flinch and answered every question without a hint of a grumble. This Izzy was free. He was open, unburdened, trusting. He was happy.

Sam's Izzy was the one that hurt the most to see. He could accept the worst that Hornigold could've offered, that he would have suffered and been broken. It was infinitely harder to see that he had a chance to be this happy. That it slipped through his fingers.

He's never looked back before, but now? Seeing what might've been? He can't stop himself from considering the possibility that maybe he made the wrong choice back then, going with Ed.

Joan Crawford - The Hollywood Glamor Girl

Joan Crawford (born Lucille Fay LeSueur in San Antonio, Texas on March 23, 1906) was an American actress remembered today as the quintessential "Hollywood Glamor Girl."

Of French-Huguenot and English ancestry, she joined several dance contests, one of which landed her in a chorus line. Before long, she was in Broadway.

By 1925, she was on her way to Hollywood for a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Her first role came soon after - as the body double for Norma Shearer, MGM's most popular female star. The studio saw her potential, but disliked her name, so they ran a contest, "Name the Star," in Movie Weekly.

Crawford made several silent films and had continued success in talkies after working very hard to remove her Southern accent. Even though she remained a respected and profitable actress at MGM, her popularity declined in the 1940s. In 1943, she requested to be released from MGM and immediately signed with Warner Brothers.

Warner Brothers gave her a chance to show her range and revived her career with movies like Mildred Pierce (1945), which won her the Academy Award for Best Actress. Like before, she asked to be released from her contract in 1952.

She continued to work freelance and became actively involved with Pepsi-Cola Co. through her marriage tot he company's president. Her career came to a lull again mostly because of the lack of roles for older women in Hollywood. By the 1960s, she again had a transformation and became her own PR machine, with a new script, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962). It was a hit and led to a string of roles until she retired in 1970.

At 69, she died from a heart attack in her apartment in Lenox Hill. Manhattan. Shortly after, it was revealed she paid for the medical care of hundreds of people, many of whom were from the film industry. She never publicized these nor wanted the public or patients to know.

so morax is “dead” and stuff, so imagine there is like a new archon for some reason (that celestia sent because zhongli retired or whatever, idk how they do things) and this new archon literally doesn’t even know where they are and what they’re supposed to be doing and stuff, and ofc they’re a dragon too (idk where this is going but hear me out) and zhongli just finds this child that looks and acts eerily how he acted before he was the geo archon (he was feral i’m pretty sure) and has like dragon habits or whatever (idk what he does) so he decides to raise this thing and idk, i just needed this gone from my head

first of all, seeing this... little fledgling act so similar to a distant memory of his past would give poor old zhongli the epiphany of a lifetime. the kind of epiphany that would have him observing the newly-appointed archon quietly in curiosity — his mindset and ways of executing things have taken quite the shift since then. morax has no choice but to follow the change of time, after all; yet, to see the reminiscence of his past manifested into a piece of the young fledgling's self, who is he not to take it fondly?

as such, this topic would definitely be one thrown commonly around among the adepti whenever all of them gather.

Catching up on new fics and need to say that I love how you used consent as this unspoken theme. I don't have a problem with other fics in the fandom, it's so cool that there's any fics at all still being made for a 40 year old show and I love what people are doing, so hopefully it doesn't come across that way but I feel like your Dorothy is truest to the show. And I really like how you explore her vulnerabilities but, if this makes any sense which it probably doesn't, in a loving way? Both in the tone of your writing, you can tell you care about the characters and their backgrounds, but also how she's always got a safety net with the others overall, so even if she breaks or falls she won't be left to hit rock bottom, but how that also means you can dig into those more traumatic themes and hints from canon and let her be less than angel or someone who needs those reassurances etc. Your fic that centers around Dorothy's smoking habit is one a constantly thing about that encapsulates all this, it's probably my fave fic for the whole fandom. not even 2000 words but there are so many layers and it's all so Dorothy and bittersweet and feels so true and it never feels rushed or forced or superficial.

I can’t believe people have really seen beyond the surface of what I write (i thought I was insane, adding in so many layers but sorta kinda failing to articulate them properly, or so I thought? I was sure that I was kind of just living in my own head here 😅), but wow, it means the world to hear.

One of the shows biggest themes, and one of its most important imo, shows that women “of a certain age” can and do have healthy & active sex lives/a healthy relationship with sex. And while I’ve seen a good few (incredible 👀 by the way) fics talking about or portraying this between the girls, whether you seen them being platonic or romantic - i had yet to see fics touching on the topic while also displaying Dorothy’s trauma/how she would respond. The body always remembers, the mind may heal, and heal Dorothy has - but there will always be a sort of response, memories hidden just beneath the surface. I like to imagine it like crumpling up a piece of paper - you can unfold it and lay it flat, press it flat with a book if you like, but the wrinkles, those memories, will always be there. That piece of paper isn’t ruined, just wrinkled. A little more delicate. Dorothy’s just a little more delicate than the others. And that part of her is so so soooooo criminally underrepresented and glossed over imo. (Since we’re on the topic of vulnerability, everyone go read @/hecatesbroom’s essay on vulnerability in tgg RIGHT NOW !!!!!!!!! you will not be disappointed!!!!!! someone teach me how to link things neatly please 😭)

I don’t know if it means anything (or if this is too personal) but I write and speak about Dorothy as a survivor of very similar trauma, so I tend to project a little onto her (while also trying my best to stay true to her character, i have this thing about sticking to canon very strictly haha. But while I was working out my portrayal i definitely pulled from bits and pieces of my own healing journey). I like to take my negative experiences and use them in my art as a sort of coping mechanism, so at least I can make something good of them? Does that make sense?

Anyway - I’m really really glad that the consent theme has seemed to get through (to more than one person, too! ahh :’) ), and that it was clear there’re many more layers there. Dorothy is gentle, she really is so gentle. I think lots of us can be blinded by the facade she puts up, and I truly believe it is a facade - one very well perfected after years of putting up - but behind closed doors she really isn’t that. She presents herself as the “fixer”, “the great balloon pricker”, but she needs to have that safety net ready & known more than the others I think. Purely because of her experiences leading up to (now, canon, etc)

ahh & i had completely forgotten about that fic, oh my :’))) i really don’t have the words - you’re just too sweet 😭🤍🤍🤍🤍 i wish I had added more to that one, but I’ve never really enjoyed writing looooonnggg pieces like that. About 2000 words is all I’ll ever manage, if that 😂. It’s been a good few months since I’ve read that one over, i never read my work over after it’s published, so I can’t comment on it the same way I just did the last.

Among the mangas I like, one that stands out is "Therapy Game" (yaoi). Unfortunately, it's not visible in the picture as the Polish printed version has not been released yet, and I'm eagerly awaiting my copy 🥺 The captivating art and the heartfelt story of boys falling in love have truly captured my heart, it's wholesome!

"Blue Phobia", another manga that truly captivated my heart, holds a special place for me as a doctor. The impeccable plot introduced a new disease that transformed human bones into a mineral with potential energy applications, resembling a power plant. The stunning artwork accompanied a captivating storyline that left me gasping and shedding tears by the story's end. Witnessing the sweet interactions between Kai and Meer added an extra layer of sweetness to the manga's charm ❤️

I have also developed a deep affection for "My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethought", a captivating crime/thriller manga. The story revolves around a young man grappling with a split personality. He is left unaware of the actions taken by the alternate personality that assumes control of his body. The manga enthralls readers as they join Eiji on his journey to uncover the truth, particularly after he becomes implicated in a prostitute's murder and becomes entangled with a dangerous gang. The intricate plot and Eiji's quest for answers make for an engrossing and thought-provoking read!

ah, yes, the shortie with anger and mommy issues himself. anon, be honest, do you actually want this man as your older brother because i'd be concerned (/j).

1) communicating through insults. if there is ever such a thing as an allergy to speech, he'd definitely be allergic to each one besides sarcastic remarks and jibes. that is the language he is most fluent in, alright? deal with it.

2) concern hidden in plain sight. he looks out for you from afar such as dispatching a subordinate to report your status to him without your knowledge or making sure that there's nothing in your way — he plays it off, though. scara claims it's because he "can't trust you for one second", but it really is because he's a little worried that you're getting roped into some stupid trouble.

3) the mommy issues... he'd prefer if you don't, or better, never bring up that god in any conversations with him. he doesn't want to be reminded of her in any way, he doesn't need words of comfort nor can he offer them to someone else, even you. all he can do is to let you deal with them on your own because that is how he deals with his feelings on that wretched event in his history. (wdym sibling therapy sessions? nah, we don't need that <3 /j)

I think it would be fun if there were more characters who are obviously self-centered and have a comically superfluously high opinion of themselves, but in a way that's somehow just genuinely wholesome. Like they just genuinely think they are personally the best and brightest person alive, but the implied thought of everyone else being less and inferior doesn't cross their mind. They're too focused on personally being adorable to be worrying about other peoples' business like that.

Like this character is introduced in such a ridiculously outlandish and flashy way that makes both the audience and the other characters assume this is one of those "why is this guy even popular at all" kind of Smarmy Supposedly Sexy Scumbag characters, but then it turns out that they're just. Genuinely like that. Not a toxic and evil monster hiding behind a thin veneer of external charm, or a tragic wounded bird hiding their secret intense self-loathing under layers and layers of ironic bravado, but just wholeheartedly thinks they're the best and charming without needing to put anybody else down.

And it turns out that is why everyone seems to like this buffoon - they're just an absurd ray of pure fucking sunshine that warms and illuminates anyone their light lands on. Just going around like "I am the most brilliant and most clever around, how splendid are you to be my dearest friend" and legit mean it. This isn't the "douchebag rival with an implausible fan club" that one would assume by first impression. This is a golden retriever that passes the Harkness test.
