what makes Cinder such a compelling 2012 not-like-other-girls protagonist is that she is surrounded by Other Girls, and she loves them. Iko and Peony are the most stereotypical teenage girls obsessed with pretty clothes and boys and pop culture and she would die for either of them in a heartbeat. Iko rolls in with makeup smeared all over her plastic face and Cinder is like "ayy girl slay!". she knows that she is JUST like other girls in all the ways that matter.

loved the new acolyte episode. the way it plays with the nuances in the jedi by having indara refuse to get involved bc she wants to do things by the book vs sol who feels this connection to osha, this fear for her well-being and feels that’s more important than any rules. both sides getting angry and paranoid and it leading to aniseya, sol, and torbin reacting emotionally & violently. sol refusing to fight korli because he KNOWS he fucked this up. sol willing to accept the consequences but indara, like sol & the witches, is trying to put this child’s well-being over some arbitrary rule. it’s so good and such a good demonstration of both how the jedi council works to stop conflict and how it is completely unprepared to deal with natural human emotion and error.

and of course, as expected, mae is not The Evil Twin. she sets the fire on accident, it spins out of control, and she’s held into this anger for so long because it’s a justified anger! has it helped her? no! but it’s guarded her heart against the overwhelming grief of losing her entire culture in a moment. and then there’s osha, who has no idea the events she’s set into motion - all she wants is the room to figure out who she is without everyone’s expectations weighing her down!! she’s just a kid!!!!!!

the transition between ep. 3 and ep. 4 i just have to talk about this please. when jihyun was talking to his boss about meeting someone and we had the expectation that that someone was aeri because the only person we had seen ask jihyun to get together that night was aeri

but jihyun seemed soooo happy when talking about this person, like he was brimming with excitement and i literally could feel it because i feel like anyone who has had a crush can understand

like he didn't really have any expectations or anything but you can tell he was just excited ????

but then we see jaewon behind jihyun at the train station and i still am thinking as a viewer oh they ran into each other again, i mean the plot is their relationship so it makes sense, and they run into each other a lot in the past

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when they were sitting across from each other on the train i still thought that maybe it was just a coincidence

but then the transition into ep.4 where they are hanging out together on a dare i say it date but i dont dare say it because they keep going back and forth between admitting they are attracted to each other (jaewon) and holding hands and just being there for each other because they literally can't stay away from each other BECAUSE oh my god i am getting overwhelmed okay

because they obviously have this insane attraction to each other in the basest sense of the word like they want to be around each other as much as possible without admitting too much

but that reveal when it finally clicked for me that the person jihyun was talking about to his boss....when he was so happy "someone approached him" that someone was JAEWON?????????????????????

AGGGTM Episode 1 Review

Just watched the first episode of the AGGGTM series and I’m so happy!! I didn’t think I’d like it but my only complaints are that the acting felt a little off and I wasn’t in it!! Phenomenal casting (everyone looks like how I imagined them or so close it feels uncanny looking at them cuz it’s just slightly off lol), the set looks amazing, the way they foreshadow the other books and keep clues on screen (eg, the Insta comments), many of the lines and taken straight from the book which I love and the new additions don’t take away/change too much of the original story (unlike the PJO show). Absolutely amazing, can’t wait to see more and my family all seem intrigued too.

My brother (who read 2/3 books) kept asking ‘what x means’ and I’m like DUDE?! ITS FORESHADOWING FOR THE 3RD BOOK WHICH IVE BEEN TELLING YOU FOR YEARS TO READ?!?!

All in all I’m so excited for this series (as well as the potential other seasons for books 2 and 3) and I can’t wait to see how the cast adapts everything else!!

P.S the camera work was stellar, super impressed with the directing (and writing if that’s involved) because man did those shots tell a thousand words (they cut Pips internal monologue but you can still tell what paragraph of her thoughts we’re in based on the composition).
