Okay, I know I'm late to a lot of anime these days (just caught up on One Piece, still watching the new Fruits Basket. in the middle of Free and I just started watching MHA) but I am MAKING VOICE CONNECTIONS...

and some of them are blowing my mind!!

So Top image: I've known for a long time that Jerry Jewell was Kyo Sohma from Fruits Basket (I MET HIM at Nekocon AGES ago!! got his autograph too! and If i could find it, a pic of him and me together) But I completely missed that he was Victor Nikiforov on Yuri on Ice!! I caught his voice in Free! as Momotaro Mikohshiba, thinking "Wow, he looks, acts and SOUNDS like Kyo!" and boom, he was! And I was looking up him up today to make sure i spelled his name right when I found out he was also Principle Nezu from My Hero Academia???? And then.

AND THEN.

Bottom Image: Of course most of you know I went on a One Piece Binge last summer, reacquainting myself with what I knew and then catching up on everything I missed… So I'm well familiar with Zoro's voice now.

I start watching MHA and its… All Might???? I don't hear it so much when he's powered up, but when he's NOT? That's totally Zoro!

Looked it up of course to find out i was right, it was Chris Sabat, and when I did, i found 3 more I had no clue about!!! But he's ALSO on Free! (Goro Sasabe), Yuri on Ice (Christophe Giacommetti) and Fruits Basket (BOTH versions, just like Jerry) - as AYAME?

Note 1: I need to go back and watch these shows again, see if i can pick them out this time around.

Note 2: I'm also amused by the amount of overlap, but that's probably inevitable.

Note 3: Probably not a popular opinion but i prefer Powered down All Might - both in looks and voice. Powered Up All Might gives me the creeps for some reason - i think because it's... performative? on his part, which makes SENSE. i just don't like it.

Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club

BECAUSE WITHOUT THEM NONE OF THE EVENTS OF FREE! WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE!! (and because they are very cool characters who deserve more love and recognition)

Gou:

Was literally the one that made possible the reunion in the pool of the Iwatobi gang and Rin

The best manager the swim club could ask for

She always support and lead the boys with a strong hand in their trainin

Knows how to do kanji calligraphy (which is difficult!!!)

She studied and analyzed various training regimens, and her love of muscle fueled her with determination to form the boys in the best of the best

BEST SISTER IN THE WORLD, DID EVERYTHING TO BRING HER BROTHER SMILE BACK

The person responsible for Free! have more than one female character (bless you goddess)

THE ENGINE AND SOUL OF THE SWIMMING CLUB!!

THE FIRST ONE WHO SUGGEST DOING THE SWIM CLUB IN FIRST PLACE (and persevere even though Haru immediately rejected it)

Organized and took care of most of the paperwork to be able to have the club

HE WAS SO DETERMINED TO GET RIN TO SWIM WITH EVERYONE AGAIN

The most empathetic person in the world, his ability to connect and understand people always helps to unite the group even more

He never gave up and managed to get Rei into the swim club and practically changed his life doing that

He did his best at school to be able to continue swimming with his friends ｡⁠:ﾟ⁠(⁠;⁠´⁠∩⁠`⁠;⁠)ﾟ⁠:⁠｡

His superpower to connect with people created alliances Iwatobi-Samezuka in a stronger way

One of the most enthusiastic when promoting the club in search of new members

Bonus point: thanks to him there is one scene in TFS2 where I enjoy Kinjou being there (Kin-chan~)

Rei:

He was literally the one who got fed up with the miscommunication problems between Rin and Haru (and well, the rest of the team) and confronted Rin to tell him his truths, and if it wasn't for that NOTHING WOULD HAVE BEEN RESOLVED

He was the one who told Haru the right words for him to realize his feelings ("I want to swim with Rin") and gave in if put in the relay (THE RELAY THAT WAS SO SO IMPORTANT FOR THE TEAM AND AAAAAAH)

THE BEST AND WORTHY SUCCESSOR CAPTAIN OF THE IWATOBI TEAM ಥ⁠‿⁠ಥ

Recruited and inspired new members and didn't let the club disappear!!

Tutored Nagisa to raise his grades so he could stay on the team

His training with Rin in order to surprise his teammates and improve the performance of the team

Do I have to say that he is a rinharu stan? isnt obvious?

Goro-chan:

Great swimming teacher, literally thanks to him is that Nagisa, Haru and Makoto know how to swim well in the first place

Makoto's father figure (this is more of a hc and something I wish would have been explored more but I'm still putting it in)

He always believed that the boys could go far and gave them his full support when the swimming club was just starting

Provided pizza to the team (very important lmao)

He literally witnessed the entire angst moment between Rin and Haru (when Rin camel back from Australia im talking abt THE MOMENT) and if it wasn't for him, Makoto would never have found out what happened

rebuilt the swim club and is literally helping the new generation to enjoy swimming

Thanks to the job he offered Makoto, he found his dream (AND THAT IS SOMETHING SO IMPORTANT 😭)

Ama-sensei:

Literally the teacher who gave the swim club the green light and who did all the administrative stuff to make it possible.

She always gave great advice (in the form of a proverb but advice nonetheless).

In most competitions she was there supporting the boys

Like, just imagine seeing that little group of guys that one day asked you for help to make a swimming club grow and see how one of them even reaches international events like LSNDKDN
