#granolah is perfect through

Dragon Ball fandom that read super, why the fuck Goku and Vegeta trains for two/ almost three years non stop without visiting family once? I was shocked reading superhero, that was so unnecessary

One thing I noticed going through the Granolah arc was Goku’s original goal. Whis points out that Goku is merely copying Whis’s version of UI and that Goku has to find his own version.
This doesn’t seem that well thought out if you ask me. If Goku copies a technique Goku always uses it in his own unique way. He finds ways to apply them befitting his own style. That would be in of itself unique to Goku.
Also, this a technique based of instinct. How does Goku copy Whis’s instinct?
More than that, Goku's "own" Ultra Instinct is just... the pre-form. Which now somehow allows him to get boosted but still use his emotions? Which makes no sense? Plus the previous arc went out of its way to say Goku PERFECTED Ultra Instinct, that he could use it without issue, only for it to suddenly be very IMPERFECT again. Makes no sense to me.

🦎 + transformations
A 🦎 For Your Thoughts || Always Accepting!
[I've touched a little bit on this before, so I'll take another route with it. I know it's absolutely core dragonball and maybe I'm a Fake Fan for thinking so but...honestly, I'm bored with how every fight basically comes down to "oh hey look a new form (MAYBE technique? Idk they're really running those together these days) that helps them win!" I guess they didn't REALLY do it with the Granolah arc to the same extent at least but whatever. Point still stands, especially when the transformations are boring and feel like they have no real grounding in the character or the lore of the series or even an interesting design.
The constant reliance on a new form gets so boring. They even did it in the new movie when, imo, I think it would have been cooler if Gohan and Piccolo were basically able to reach new heights on their own during their respective fights rather than through making a wish (which pisses me off to no end like good fucking grief) and yet another transformation that is frankly pretty ugly (at least it's slightly more interesting than just COLOR SWAP LOL but hm; decisions were made). This movie would have been the PERFECT opportunity to break away from the "new villain, new form" formula but, of course because merchandising and SHINY AND NEW, we probably won't ever get that. Which is also why they will never make the humans all that relevant.
So basically, I understand that transformations are a core facet of this series to some degree. It was fine back in Z, and honestly I don't feel they relied on them AS heavily then as they do now (see the Saiyan Saga and arguably the Buu saga for instance; even the movies). But I guess I just want a TINY bit more creativity with the writing. Like I said, outside of the whole thing with the villains of this latest arc wishing themselves stronger and two new forms being introduced with Goku and Vegeta, they weren't exactly what won the fight (which is a LITTLE frustrating but I can appreciate it some as long as they do MORE with what they introduced there), it kind of felt like they were trying. Sort of. Until Frieza showed up with YOU GUESSED IT. New form that clapped Goku and Vegeta. Give me transformations with some meaning at least and I'll be happier.]

*Reads the first page of DBS manga chapter 82.*
That... that's not how Instant Transmission works... Why did Toyotaro make it work like a portal??
Tumblr media
The Instant Transmission (a.k.a. Instantaneous Movement a.k.a. Shunkan Ido) is a technique where the user locks on to an energy then instantly moves to that person just as the name implies.
I get that Toyo drew it that way for "artistic effect" but c'mon. You just materialize in another place with Instant Transmission. You don't open a portal then hop through it! Toyo even has Goku use the move correctly every time throughout the chapter after the first weird instance.
Tumblr media
But, he sometimes includes energy around it. I guess it was an attempt to combine the way the technique actually works with whatever kind of visual effect he was going for.
Why am I even pointing this out? It ain't like Toyo cares about any kind of continuity or consistency.
Toyo writes that Goku perfects UI in the Moro arc; but reverts Goku to not perfecting UI in the Granolah arc.
Toyo writes for UI to become durable as necessary in the Moro arc; UI Goku loses the ability in the Granolah arc.
Toyo wrote that Moro can absorb all life of a planet from outer space; a more powerful version of Moro is nerfed to the point he can only absorb energy through physical contact.
17 & 18 have always had life energy which is why they can contribute to the Genki Dama; in the Moro arc, Toyo randomly changes the manga versions of them to not have life energy (implying 17 & 18 aren't alive???).
