top 5 books!!

The Raven Cycle series, by Maggie Stiefvater. It made me go back to read fantasy novels and it’s beautifully written, rich in details that make you only want to read more and more. The friendships in these books are strong and it’s all about trust, loyalty and support.

The Rules Of Magic, by Alice Hoffman. I’m passionate about stories about witches and magic. The Owens family witches are enchanting and unique. 

The Drowning Girl, by Caitlín R. Kiernan. It was one of the first books I bought after graduating and the first book I’ve read with a lesbian protagonist, who’s also mentally ill. The other characters are just as interesting and captivating, one of them is a trans woman and dates the protagonist.

The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien. I think I’ll never get tired of the world Tolkien built in his stories. It’s a special place I can escape to, whenever I need. 

Heaven Official’s Blessing, by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. I’m actually still reading it, but I’ll add it to the list, because even though I’m taking longer than usual to read due to my recent treatment’s side effects, it’s just an amazing story, with everything I enjoy: there are many supernatural elements, a bit of horror, devotion, friendship, romance, lessons on hope and self strength.

A, O and X for the movie ask

A. A movie you think is underrated

I'm going to use this opportunity to rant about Atlantis and Treasure Planet, since both were overlooked, if not outright sabotaged by Disney. Both of these movies feature excellent mix of traditional animation and CGI, great (and diverse) casts of brilliant characters, and wonderfully written plots. And both of them deserve more love and attention.

I also think Roman Holiday gets overlooked in favor of Breakfast At Tiffany's, but it is the superior Audrey movie.

O. Traditional animation or CGI

I'm a big fan of traditional animation, but I must admit that CGI is capable of great things.

In some later traditionally animated Disney films CGI was used to enhance the image, and they also used the moving canvas technique for creating amazing dynamic scenes in Tarzan and Treasure Planet, and I wish the two could happily coexist nowadays. Sadly movie companies don't share these views.

X. A movie you love from this year

I'm going to cheat a bit, since it premiered worldwide in 2018, but it my country it came out in January 2019...The Favourite

daylight: favorite album of all time?

gosh !!!!!!! i really do not know!!! my first instinct is YOUNGBLOOD by 5 Seconds of Summer (apple, spotify, youtube) and ...  id probably have to stick with that tbh ! i love a lot of albums but YOUNGBLOOD was really the first one where i LOVED every single song ! and i also went to the tour for the album (the myt tour) and it was hands down best night of my life so,,, like i cant not think of that when im thinking of albums i love. like obvs i love 1d and panic! and kesha but like,, 5SOS is it. if u dont like 5SOS sorry bout it but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

5, 7, 10!

5. What was your favorite school project you ever made?

I had this one assignment in my AP psychology class in high school that involved using different aspects of the subject to evaluate ourselves. It was a whole laundry list of assignments compiled into one project, so I’m not going to describe every piece of it.

Anyway, one of the parts was to use 10 different adjectives to describe ourselves, but we had to portray them as we used them. So, if someone said that they were artistic but turned in an essay on why, they weren’t proving their own traits. If someone said that they were organized, but the margins on the document were off, they were also doing it wrong... you get the point. Basically the format of this assignment was up to whatever you chose to define yourself as. I talked about being shy and anxious but also proud and creative among other things. The final product of my piece was a canvas with a rainbow of melted wax falling down from storm clouds, a drawing of me holding an umbrella under all of it.

Idk I just think the black and white with the melted wax looked really cool, and it’s the only project that I’ve done like that. Especially since most of my projects now consist of presentations or essays.

7. What’s a funny mistake you’ve made recently?

Honesty?? I poured orange juice into my coffee this morning instead of creamer and didn’t notice until I tried to drink it

10. What book have you been avoiding reading and why?

The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater. If I don’t read it, then technically the Raven Cycle has isn’t over
