You’ll need to double my #piedoughrecipe for a #doublecrust. Now, cover, then pinch edges together. Eggwash and sprinkle with #granulatedsugar. Cut slits into the top layer prior to baking,for ventilation. Bake 1 hour at 350’F. Okay so this was a HUGE step out of my comfort zone but man what a pay off. Even Evan was really impressed with these cake dough nuts!

I was drawn to these by their simplistic nature. It really is some kitchen staples. Mixed and baked. As simple as that. Obviously it is a bit nerve wracking adding a fresh herb like rosemary to your sweets but combined with the freshness of the lemon zest and juice it works. The combo makes for a refreshing treat that tastes light but is still indulgent.

I baked my first batch for 12 minutes and they were very delicate and stuck to the pan. The second batch baked for 14 minutes with a more liberal greasing and flouring of the pan and they came out a bit more robust but overall still fragile.

I ended up making a frakenstine glaze to top them because I hadn't had a glazed doughnut in a while. I creamed together the melted butter and some powdered sugar with a couple tablespoons of milk then just dumped it over the top of the doughnuts.

Evan suggested I bring these to the next family gathering, I think I should perfect it first and of course, make a vegan version.
