It's such a pleasant surprise to see Ford and Stan be, well, Ford and Stan! Not six-fingered Dipper and angry gender swap Mabel but actually just Ford and Stan but younger.

And Mabel and Dipper are Mabel and Dipper not Crafty gender swapped Stan and bitchier Dipper but just Mabel and Dipper but older.

I also like what I've seen from the other characters so far.

And yes, Anjelita’s grandparents are Soos and Melody! I didn’t want to give her Soos backstory (Since, Soos is right there lol) so instead of having a father who left and never came back, her parents died when she was young so she was raised by her grandparents!

Soos and Melody are the very sweet and silly old couple you’re bound to meet at some point in your life lol. Melody and Soos are both retired so Melody does a bunch of miscellaneous hobbies (usually with Anjelita) to pass the time while Soos has a bunch of busted up cars/trunks in his backyard that he likes to work on for fun! (I’m basing Soos a little after my grandpa here haha) I like to think Soos and Melody take trips to anime conventions and cosplay characters together for fun, since no matter how old they get they are still dorks to me lol

The two absolutely adore their granddaughter and Soos also still adores the Mystery Shack to a degree that Anjelita has to make sure he doesn’t ever visit her while she’s working or else he won’t leave for the rest of the day. The Ramirez’s are also just pretty close with The Pines’ in general since Mabel Mason Pines is a very sweet and charismatic man who always wants to make sure he has a good relationship with his employees! Also Anjelita pretty much dragged Mason to her home during the holidays one year when she found out he was spending them alone ‘like usual’ and her family wouldn’t STAND for that. So now he’s quite close with them!

Something I've just noticed but really appreciate about the writing of Gravity Falls is the way that they wrote Melody. Like, I've always felt that she seemed a bit more fleshed out than your average one-episode-side-character-love-interest, but watching their scenes back I get the sense that, she wasn't written to be Soos's perfect type, so much as they wrote it so that Soos is HER perfect type. Which, yes, still centralizes her character around Soos, but like, she's a very minor character, who WAS specifically written to be his love interest. Mabel's love interests are the same, except they usually feel like they're written specifically to cater to what Mabel finds attractive. Whereas with Soos and Melody, even though their similar interests is what makes her attractive to him, he's the one expressing those interests, to which Melody is the one expressing how excited she is to find someone who likes the same things she does. It's like the opposite of how most scenes like that go, where the love interest lists off the things they like only for the more established character to look at them in awe. It almost feels like it's Melody's meatcute with Soos, not the other way around.

Well, the "Gravity Falls" phase has finally reached me, after 9...10(?) years since the series began??? I watched the series, but it seems I was too young to get into the story, and then the fandom. I recently rewatched it and I'm wildly delighted!) Well...it's time for "timely" fanarts on Gravity Falls!

OKAY BUT Y'ALL. I'm genuinely curious. About the Monster Falls au. Fyi this post is going to be me throwing crap at the walls to see what sticks.

When it comes to Monster Falls...why has no one ever suggested a Harpy or Werecat for Mabel?? I feel like these monsters also fit our Mabes. Now the question for Werecat Mabel- is her body like that of a faun or a tuar?

I mostly agree with the main cast's monsters (erm Deer-per is precious??) aside from Mabel even if Merm/Unicorn her is cool

Also Wendy is usually a werefox but I feel that a werewolf also fits (especially considering how hairy werewolves are. Who else is hairy? Oh yeah! The Corduroy men)

According to the GF au wiki Soos is a clay golem. It works! I think we can still get creative with this! He could be a slime or alien (I'm picturing Toy Story lmao. "You saved my life dudes, I'm eternally grateful") or robot or faun or really any monster lol. I suppose he's of Mexican descent and therefore could be a Mexican creature! Maybe HE'S the unicorn because he's pure of heart...🥺 He could also still be a human super hyped that his friends are now monsters. What we think y'all I'm stumped.

Again going by the wiki Pacifica is either a gorgon or unicorn. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE IDEA OF GORGON PACIFICA I just wanted to propose a nymph as an idea. Do I want gorgon or nymph...

"Old Man McGucket is usually a scarecrow, warlock or a demon." - GF AU wiki. Ehh idk about these. Maybe McGucket is the slime? A cow creature or smth? A Kill Billy? Oh, he's a Kill Billy I found it! EUREKA!!

Now that I'm thinking about it Gravity Falls/Journal 3 specific monsters could be included in the ideas. Soos is another Abominable Broman haha.

Gideon is said to be a vampire, which just makes sense (bloodsucker lmao). I purpose an alternative: gnome.

Once again according to GF wiki Candy is a kappa. I say no. It's a cute idea but I'm also iffy about it considering the fact that Candy is of Korean/Chinese descent and a kappa is from Japanese folklore. That's not to say species/monsters can't cross nationality/ethnic boundaries, I'm just saying why not a Korean or Chinese monster? For example a g/kumiho (Korean) or qilin/kirin (Chinese/Korean)!

It also says Melody is a Harpy. Approved. She can apparently also be a ghost which is fine but Harpy Melody is adorable thx. I suppose maybe she's the mermaid of the bunch but now I'm team harpy

Is Tad Strange still a human? Or a piece of bread? IS HE THE SQUARE VERSION PEOPLE THEORIZED ABOUT

Okay I'm going to stop now before I list the entire town of Gravity Falls.

General ideas for grabs for anyone: fairies, ghosts, skeletons, nagas/lamias, mummies, angels, demons, nephilim, dragons, ANY MONSTER REALLY.

I haven't had proper progress on my initial GF askblog BUT I'M GONNA MAKE A MONSTER FALLS AU WHY THE HELL NOT. Stay tuned! I'll be adapting an existing but inactive blog of mine for these purposes.

Pines family headcanon!

Dipper actively pushes the "Ghosts are singing Babba around the house" thing whenever he's at the Mystery Shack, to the point where others also start to believe it.

He brings a bluetooth speaker one Summer and it's the funniest thing ever watching Stan try to play off that maybe he is starting to believe in ghosts just a little bit.

Mabel's in on it. Her sewing skills know no bounds and she manages to make a fairly large, realistic puppet of a ghost in 70s clothing, just because she can.

Ford has caught on to the scheme but it's hilarious so now he leaves actual ghost stuff around the house in an attempt to trick Dipper and Mabel into thinking the Shack is really haunted.

So now everyone but Ford thinks the Shack is haunted.

If Abuelita knows she doesn't mind. Soos already thought it was haunted before the scheme, this just proves his theories. Melody has caught up to the fact that the 70s Babba Ghost isn't real but doesn't know about Ford's scheme yet.
