Corpse the Raptor (Part 2)

This takes place after the Icebrood Saga

Confused, Luka brings her raptor, Corpse, to Aurene. Aurene studies the raptor for a few seconds. She realizes the creature had been reanimated by Luka.

“She isn’t alive.” Aurene states.

“Technically no,” Luka says, pulling Corpse’s reigns closer. “I brought her back with necromancy. She’s like a loyal minion, but she’s not alive.”

“You’re using your own energy and magic to keep her as a mount?”

“Admittedly I’ve grown attached to her. Sometimes I even forget she’s dead. Has been for years.” Luka pats Corpse’s shoulder.

“Maybe I can help?”

Qirri and Vekk

When Qirri first arrived in Elona to set up shop for the Dragonwatch Krewe as her sister, brother-in-law, and best friend dealt with the threat of Balthazar, first order of business was getting around faster.

She was introduced to a number of raptors at the stable after training with one of the raptor keepers, but she was drawn to a mostly empty stable where a runty raptor was meandering about, and when he looked right at her, she blinked.

"That's Slowpoke," the young man pointed out. "He's not very bright. Too small, too. You'll need something sturdier."

Qirri's ears lifted. She tilted her head this way and that. The raptor tipped his head to and fro right along with her, tongue dangling out of his mouth as he panted. Too small. Unwanted.

Her gaze shifted back up to the young man.

"...no. I think I want this one."

And that is how the Dragonwatch krewe chief came into the possession of Vekk, a runty golden retriever of a raptor who wants nothing more than to make his keeper happy.

Cross' raptor, Contract, with a practical saddle made for distance riding (based off of Australian endurance saddles). Cross spent a couple of days at the raptor ranch in Amnoon training and learning to ride and care for her raptor before continuing, as well as helping out to pay them back.

Do you think the Commanders mounts have to be desensitised like horses/work animals?

I think the Jackal and the beetle would be fine, but do they have to run around the Raptors with tarps? Do we have to do it? How many laps around Aurene did it take before the mount stopped shitting itself?

Does "you're scared of it you wear it" still apply?
