Alright so after having looked through hypnos’ new design I have something to say. The poppies.
Tumblr media
So I’ve already seen someone post about this ( @blamethecows-draws ) and yes!! Poppies do symbolize his son, but they are also closely related to Hypnos himself. Now I’m not sure how they were in terms of Ancient Greece (unfortunately my Ancient Greece knowledge is shaky at best), but I am aware of this particular painting from 1874: Sleep and his Half-Brother Death
Tumblr media
In this painting, Hypnos (depicted closest to the audience) holds a few poppies in his hand. Poppies, to my knowledge, were flowers that symbolized not only him as a god, but also death (hence why Thanatos is there too)
What’s interesting, though, is that poppies also symbolize a hope for a more peaceful/calm future. I think that this potentially could tie into the whole PLOT of the game, which is trying to take down the calamity that Kronos has caused
So tldr: poppies symbolize death, the God Hypnos, and hope for a calm future, which is kinda the whole plot of Hades II

I kinda want Hades 2 to be able to read your Hades file, see the decisions you made in that, and either make a passing reference to or directly showcase that in the game. Like if you romanced everyone, there will be references to your brother being a whore, etc.

Remember how Zagreus Hadesgame was presented as wanting to leave the underworld because he wanted to join the gods on Mount Olympus, and then it turned out that all he really wanted was to see his mother?
Really curious if Melinoë Hadesgame's goal of "death to Chronos" also has a subversion or at least is not quite what it appears to be on the surface

i’m actually very worried about the hype for Hades II
okay, don’t get me wrong, I’ve been a massive supergiant games fan since their first ever launch (bastion!) and I present hades to literally every person I know like ✨
but hades I didn’t launch with this many eyeballs on it. fans looked forward to it, of course, and early access was a special time, but it’s popularity really exploded after launch.
i just don’t want these devs and this story to fall victim to where so many others have: overhype and overexpectation
it’ll be good; I have no doubt. just, maybe, be careful of getting attached to fanon character personalities and fanon game mechanics until we start to see the actual game

Melinoë, in canon mythology, is the goddess of the restless undead. So not only would it be her role and birthright to save Hades and restore order to the underworld, but also, Zagreus is the heir, so he has to take over Hades’ responsibilities as a temporary king of the underworld.
What this most likely means is that Zag is gonna be doing paperwork in Hades II and approving WAY too many appeals from shades who seek audience with him.
(But also, what if he’s in Melinoë’s weaponry room, as the game’s Skelly…)

She’s gonna kill Cronos with his own weapon-
I’m about to become so unbearable because I’ll be talking about this game for generations to come

very early theory and im pretty sure the devs wouldn't do this:
but if kronos is the titan of time, is it possible that the replayability aspect of the game comes from being melinoe and the others being stuck in a cycle? is melinoe doomed to defeat him again and again and again, hoping for the chance that THIS is the time i defeat him, THIS is the time i get to save them all.

wait i just realized there is so much comedic potential in mellinoe being able to survive on the surface freely like zagreus can't. if she's mad at him she can just go stand outside and smirk while he watches pathetically from inside the door. mellinoe the outside is OUT OF BOUNDS when playing tag it's not FAIR come bACK

HADES TWO LETˋS GOOOOO ?????
[ID: A digital drawing of Melinoë from Hades 2. She is a thin, pale woman with short light brown hair and two different coloured eyes. Her left eye is green and her right eye is black and red. She is wearing a short orange dress and a few metal armor pieces with a moon motive, most notably a broad belt at her waist with ornaments hanging off of it and a broad metal choker connected to moon ornaments on her chest. Her right arm is a ghostly green and see through to the bones. She is shown in three quarter view from the thighs up, glancing to the right and smiling. End ID]
