My favorite part about the first Trials of Apollo book was when they talked about the campers working out. I mean, YES!! I love working out, that was so fun to read about what the demigods do. Simon's mind went blank. It was as if the organ didn't want to process what he had just learned, so it decided to power off instead.

"Yeah, apparently she started homeschooling." The sharp nosed boy tried his best to bite back his smile. A year younger than Simon, Nicky looked up to him, aspiring to be just as (much of a bully) cool as he was. So when he overheard the office ladies sympathetically discussing Simon's favorite victim, he made sure to gather as much information as he could in order to try and impress Simon; gain his favor.

The squirrelly brunette had prepared mentally for a number of different reactions Simon could have had to the news: anger, disappointment, mild amusement.. but when he turned his eyes away from his milk box it confused him to see Simon's stare empty.

Thinking that Simon didn't care Nicky doubled down. "My sources say she was too scared to name her bullies, and that she just wanted it to end without a confrontation."

'She left because of me??' Simon squeezed his eyes shut in an attempt to shut out the kid yapping beside him. When (Reader) didn't come to school Simon was, of course, worried. He thought that she might have gotten sick, or worse. The worry over not being able to see her beautiful face was eating him up, and he admittedly began lashing out at other people, really making him into the bully (Reader) thought he was. But now he was hearing that she had left the school because of him??

"It's a good thing she didn't snitch, huh?" The prideful child said in a haughty way, pleased with himself (even though Simon didn't know, or care, why).

"Why are you telling me this?" 'Can't you see how fucked up you got me right now??'

"Huh?" Startled and suddenly nervous, Nicky wrung the bottom of his hoodie in an attempt to calm his stutter. "B- I just, I thought, because you- you seemed to hate her, ya know? So I thought- I just thought you'd be interested to know.."

"Great. Now I know." Simon's voice was hard and sharp. He wanted to cry, but he sounded like he was on the verge of attacking the younger kid. "What am I supposed to do with that information?"

Heart in his throat and lip trembling, Nicky handed over his phone with the camera open. "I took a picture of her address.."

Knock knock knock!

(Reader) happily rolled off the couch and made her way to the front door. Neither of her parents were home and she had already finished all of her classwork, so the student had been relaxing while scrolling through her phone. She had only been homeschooled for a week, but was already back to her old self again. (Reader) was so stress free that she wasn't as paranoid about an unexpected visitor as she probably should have been.

She opened the front door without peaking to see who it was, and she didn't have time to process that it was Simon until he had already shoved himself inside and closed the door behind him. All of the fear and anxiety that (Reader) had finally worked through snapped back like a rubber band, physically hurting her chest.

"What- Get out!" Her shaky voice commanded.

"Shut up." Simon had planned on being comforting and sweet, rehearsing the entire trip on how to apologize and finally woo (Reader) correctly. (Reader) thought about her phone she left on the couch, and wondered if she could get to it before he could grab her. "Please leave me alone.." If only she could inch backwards as subtly as possible..

"Why? I came here to make sure you were okay." Simon grabbed her wrist and squeezed tightly enough for her to bite the inside of her cheek. "Come back to school."

"..No."

His grip tightened.

"I- I can't!" (Reader) struggled to break free as the tears began to pool up. "Do you know how difficult it was to get into homeschooling?? More than half way through the year?? I didn't drop out!! I couldn't go back, even if I wanted to!" Her pleas made sense, but Simon was already too heartbroken to hear them.

"Then I guess I'm going to be your new study buddy." His smile was supposed to be kind, suave. He wanted to look caring and dashing. But to (Reader) his half lidded eyes and tight smile looked like a malevolent smirk.

"What?"

"What? You thought you could run away from me? It's not like your family has enough money to just up and move whenever they want." Simon glanced around at the furniture visible from the entrance to double check that they, in fact, were not rich enough to move whenever. "And now I know where you live."

(Reader) parted her lips to talk back, but Simon quickly closed the gap between them, pulling her into his chest and kissing her painfully. He had imagined their first kiss many many times, and it was never like this. But it didn't matter if it was rushed and he pulled her in too hard and he slammed his lips against her's too forcefully. The young man wanted to beg her to never leave his side again, but instead as he turned around to leave he only left her with another warning.

"Don't even think about calling the cops. I'll be back to check up on you again later.. and if you try to run again, I'll fucking find you."

Daemon felt it the moment he made it out that dull gathering. He had a tail, a shadow, someone lurking behind him. He looks over his shoulder slowly, bringing his hands behind his back as he strides down the hall, toward the garden. He hums as he softens the sound of his walking, now absolutely certain there was a quick patter of feet behind him.

He was, in fact, being followed.

The prince then rapidly turns around, a spit second confused when he was faced with no one, but then turns down when he hears the loud and airy gasp.

A child. He knits his brows, allowing his hands to fall to his side. A child has been following him. He pulls his head back. Did he look... amicable to this little creature?

He bends a bit, raising his chin inquisitively, "who are you?"

She catches her breath from the startling she got, hands on her chest. She takes a moment before responding, lips pouting, "Sonya."

Daemon raises a brow. A vague answer, yet fitting, he thinks, for a child as tiny as she. "Why are you following me, little Sonya?"

She drops her hands, releasing a sigh, "I am not little, my lord."

He straightens up at the sound of that, face barely contorting into amusement, "tis not 'my lord', it is 'my prince'."

She purses her lips, then curtsies, "my prince."

Daemon's nostrils flare as he chuckles. He tents his hands in front of him. He shifts on his leg, "answer my question, not little Sonya."

Sonya's face scrunches. Her brows furrow, "are you not the man who likes my lady-auntie?"

His ears perk at that. He purses his lips, "you're her niece?"

"Well obviously! I said she's my lady-auntie."

Daemon raises a brow, chuckling dryly, "that doesn't answer why you are following me, girl."

"Well," she brings her hands together, "out of all the lords that like her, you're the only one that gave her sweeties," she says innocently, "so I want you to marry her."

Daemon laughs, turning away from the little girl, shaking his head in fully amusement. He leans back down, hands going to his knees, "that is because I not a lord, but a prince, child," he raises a finger and taps her nose, "and you are quite easily swayed."

Sonya pulls her head back at the prince's sentiment. She rubs her nose, face scrunched all angrily. It was truly adorable. She asserts, "do not do that again."

He straightens himself up as he chuckles under his breath, thumbs hanging on his belt, "of course. Apologies. I would not dare do such indecency to a lady again."

Sonya nods, bringing her hands to her sides, "well, now that I told you this... can you walk me back? I don't know where I am."

The prince's lips pull into a smile. He extends his hand out, "of course, my lady."

She takes his hand easily and they begin to walk off.

"If you're the prince," Sonya starts, "then that means..." she gasps, turning up to him, "you have a dragon egg!"

Daemon laughs, clutching his belly as he did so. "Even better," he turns to her, "I have a full sized dragon."

The girl's jaw drops and widens impossibly.

"SONYA!" I gasp the moment I see the tiny silhouette from afar, running towards the girl, who quickly then runs up to me

I fall to my knees when I embrace her, "oh you foolish child! I nearly died trying to look for you!"

"Worry not-"

I look up, finding a smirking man with long silver-blonde hair.

"-she was following after a man of high regard."

I am aghast by the idea. I turn from him to Sonya, eyes widening, "you were following the prince?!"

I clutch my niece's soft, round cheeks as she mutters, "I told him I wanted him to marry you."

"What?!"

Daemon snorts then releases high pitched chuckles. I shoot him an annoyed look. How dare he corrupt my sweet niece with such ideas? I should have rejected his proposal more harshly.

"He's the only one that bought you sweeties, auntie!" Sonya calls.

"Sonya-"

"They were your favorite too!" she grabs my wrists, "the other lords bought you things you don't even care for. And! They were mean to me! He held my hand while we walked here, auntie."

I pull my head back at the words of the child. My eyes dart to the man, looking all smug behind Sonya, pretending that he wasn't listening in on the conversation, even though he was holding back a shit-eating grin, "did he?"

The girl readily agreed, nodding quickly. She proceeds to whisper, "and we talked about dragons!"

I grunt. He undoubtedly took the girl's fascination of the beasts to his advantage.

I release a breath as I get to my feet. I take Sonya's hand as I step towards the prince. Daemon faux looks at the sky.

"Your highness."

Daemon turns, lips curving into a smile, "oh, my ladies."

It takes great effort for me not to roll my eyes at him, "I believe a show of gratitude is in order," I purse my lips, "thank you for bringing my Sonya back."

He exaggeratedly sighs, trying to hold back his grin, "all in a day's work, my dear. After all," he peers down at Sonya, "the children are the future."

I cannot withhold the incredulous scoff that leaves my mouth.

The man does not mind, and even ignores it, opting to get on one knee before my niece, "now, little shadow, remember what I told you on the way here."

I turn to my niece, who readily nods her head at his words.

"Sonya?" I call in concern, "what did you two talk about?"

Sonya turns to me just before the prince presses a finger to his lips. She follows suit, "it's a secret I share with the prince."

I narrow my eyes, jaw slacking in disbelief. I dirtily eye the said prince as I lean towards the girl, "and I am your auntie. I do not want there to be secrets between us, darling."

"Shhh," she shakes her head and closes her eyes, shushing me like all the times I, and her mother used to, a habit we got from our mother, Sonya's maternal grandmother, "it'll be alright, auntie."

My face falls in concern. Daemon is unable to hold back his giggles. He turns away, pressing a hand on his lips to contain his amusement.

I shoot him a glare as he clears his throat. He turns to Sonya, "very well, my lady." He rises to his feet, placing his hands in front of him, "I will see you soon then."

The child turn to him in excitement as I look at him, appalled, "I beg your pardon?"

"Well, I promised the child to introduce her to my dragon if she came back to me with high marks from her studies."

I scoff, teeth grinding, "you know well she does not study."

"Hmm," Daemon tilts his head at me, "would she not when she is under you care?"

I am taken aback by his sentiment.

He presses his lips as he slowly turns to Sonya. Daemon dramatically sighs, "ah, what are we to do? Unfortunately, it seems your auntie is not keen on allowing you meet Caraxes."

Uproar. Sonya bursts into loud emotions as she grabs into my skirt and whines, "Auntie! No! I must meet Caraxes! I must!"

"Sonya-"

"I promise to do all my studies, and all that you ask me to do like prince Daemon told me!"

I raise a brow. I take a moment to think, "anything, you say?"

Sonya readily shakes her head, "I promise to be a good girl. Just pleeeeaaaassse let me see his dragon!"

I turn to Daemon, who was already looking at me, absolutely pleased with himself, crossing his arms and cocking his head to the side.

I blink slowly, releasing a sigh, "I will think about it."

Sonya squeals in excitement, releasing me in order to smother the prince's legs next. I am offended by how taken she was with him. I quip, "I said I'll think about it, child."

Daemon bends down, carrying the girl in his arms, releasing a happy sigh as he did so, "worry not, little shadow," he turns to me, "auntie will come around."

"My prince, why do you call me shadow. I'm not a shadow," Sonya pouts, grabbing his face, forcing him to turn to her, "I'm a girl."

Daemon's nostrils flare, "my apologies," he places his free hand onto his chest, "little girl."

"I'm not little!"

"Of course, of course, my mistake."

"Watch and learn, my dear," Han sends you a playful wink.

You are currently on a team with Chan while playing cornhole. Your opponents are Han and Seungmin, and Han chose to throw from the same side as you.

It's a nice summer day, and you, along with the whole Stray Kids crew, are spending it outside. You started off the afternoon in the pool, but then I.N almost cracked his skull open when attempting to dive, and you all decided that was enough of the pool for the day. You then moved on to riding bikes, but then Changbin and Felix's wheels collided and they busted their knees up on the asphalt. It was a whole ordeal, and somehow Changbin ended up forcing Hyunjin and Han to carry him all the way back to the house.

After those exciting events, we decided to reign it in a little before someone got seriously injured. So, we now reside in the driveway, playing a nice and calm game of cornhole. I.N has been resting inside since the pool incident, saying he has a killer headache and just needs a nap. Hyunjin, Felix, and Changbin have taken cover from the heat in the garage, while Lee Know sits in the middle of the yard, bathing in the warmth of the sun.

"Han, no offense, but you haven't actually hit the board yet, and we've been playing for 10 minutes," you laugh, smiling harder when Han looks at you with an insulted look on his face.

"I'll have you know that I've been doing that on purpose, Missy. Didn't want to give away my ace of an arm too soon."

Upon hearing this from the other side of the driveway, Seungmin scoffs and gives him a bothered look. "You better be joking. The score is literally 19-0, I think you could've pulled it out a little sooner."

"Shh, I have to focus," Han narrows his eyes before hollering something sounding akin to a screaming donkey. He does a little dance, spinning around quickly in a circle, making you giggle. He faces toward the other board again, pulls his arm back and launches the beanbag high into the air.

All those theatrics, just for the beanbag to unceremoniously hit an unsuspecting Lee Know right in the face, who, up until that point, was peacefully sleeping.

“Wha-,” he startles, standing upright in a second. Your eyes widen at the intimidating look he throws at all of you, and you immediately shove your thumb in Han’s direction. You smile to yourself as you look and see that Seungmin and Chan are doing the same. “Han, you brat,” and with that, Han is gone in a flash racing to hide somewhere behind the garage. You walk over to Lee Know’s chair and drag it up to your cornhole game.

“What? You’re finished now? We were about to win!” Chan whines, playfully pouting at you.

“Well, Dandy-Boy over there just lost his partner, and I don’t know about you, but I wanna see whatever’s about to go down. I want a front row seat.” You kick your legs out, turning your attention to a, now screaming, Han. Lee Know has acquired the hose, and you know all hell’s about to break loose.

"Please! Please stop! I can't run much more!" Han yells, gasping for air.

"Well then stop!" Lee Know deviously yells back, gaining on the younger.

Han bends over with his hands on his knees, surrendering to the cold jet of the hose. "That actually feels pretty nice," he comments, standing upright and stretching his arms out to his sides to let the water cool him down.

Lee Know sprays Han for a few more seconds before feeling bored. "It's no fun if you're enjoying it." He huffs and stops spraying the hose, looking back to the three of you still silently watching from the driveway. A smirk spreads across his face; one that you know all too well.

You quickly stand from the chair, scurrying inside the garage to take cover. "Run!" You scream, using poor Felix as a human shield. Lee Know sprints into the garage, blasting the water in a swaying motion, soaking everything in it's path, including Felix and the innocent party of Hyunjin and Changbin. They all gasp, looking up at Lee Know.

"If my knee wasn't throbbing right now, I'd so get you back," Changbin narrows his eyes at Lee Know.

"In my defense, I was only trying to get y/n. So if anything, blame her," Lee Know argues back. He turns his attention to the three completely dry soon-to-be victims hiding out near the house, and he takes off after them, eliciting a multitude of screams and yelps.

Hyunjin, Changbin, and Felix look to you. "You've got to be kidding me. I'm innocent!" You nervously back up, making your way towards the garage door. "We're on the same team!" You try, but in the blink of an eye, Hyunjin is after you. You scream, running towards nothing specific.

"Avenge us, Hyunjin!" You hear Felix yell, followed by a chorus of Felix and Changbin giggles.

You run throughout the yard, hurdling and ducking between random objects to try to lose your attacker. But to no avail, and Hyunjin rams into the back of you, soaking your perfectly dry clothes. You screech, struggling in his grasp before ultimately giving up, knowing he's much stronger than you are. He squeezes the life out of you once more, you and him watching the chaos ensue on the other side of the yard. Somehow, Seungmin has ended up with the hose now and is running for his life from Chan, Han, and Lee Know. "Poor guy's not gonna make it," you say to Hyunjin, watching as Seungmin trips over a lump in the grass, awkwardly hitting the ground and dropping the hose in the process.

"Mercy!" he yells, gripping his ankle and writhing in pain. Chan drops down next to him in concern

"What happened? Did you hurt your ankle?" Chan worries, placing a comforting hand on Seungmin's shoulder. Hyunjin finally lets you go and you both quickly make your way to them. Changbin and Felix also make their way out of the garage upon hearing Seungmin's cries.

"My ankle, I think I broke it," he cries. Chan looks up to you guys and you can tell dad-mode has been activated.

"Can someone go get a bag of ice? Changbin, help me lift him." Chan orders, standing up.

In the blink of an eye, Seungmin jumps up and quickly grabs the hose, spraying all of you and laughing menacingly. You all stare in disbelief, jaws dropped, not knowing Seungmin was that good of an actor.

You observe him and notice he's the only one who hasn't gotten wet yet. "How are you still dry?" You question him. You and the rest of the boys slowly start inching towards him.

He stutters a little, taking slow steps back, feeling uneasy. "Uh-"

"He won't be for long! Get him!" Lee Know answers for him, being the first to make a move and run towards the puppy. Seungmin turns and runs the opposite direction and the rest of you follow.

The shenanigans keep up for about 30 more minutes. At some point, I.N emerged from the house to see what all the noise was about. Unfortunately for him, Lee Know once again had the hose, and he wasn't feeling very merciful. As soon as I.N stepped foot in the yard he was bombarded with a blast of icy cold water, completely waking him from his after-nap grogginess. The hose gets passed around numerous more times, and you all, including Seungmin, end up completely soaked from head to toe by the time you're finished.

While you guys never finished your cornhole game, all too exhausted from the days events, it still ended up being a fun afternoon.

You and Chan will just have to beat Seungmin and Han a different day.

"Shit! Why today?!" I whined as I wandered through this thick forest. The Sun was about to set and my body was sweating,  not because of the heat but due to nervousness and fear. My sister, Jara, would be coming back from the battle. I didn't know it was today or maybe I had forgotten otherwise, I wouldn't have done the foolish act of coming to hunting in the Redwood forest with my dog, Tic.

My sister was the General of the army, not forgetting that our father was the previous one, and after his death, Jara was chosen as the next General. Our family was very close to the imperial family, hence I was a noble. I had five sisters and Jara was the oldest and I was the youngest so including me, we were a total of six. I still don't know why she treated me like a kid out of everyone? Even though I was an obedient child I still had to face so many restrictions and I feared that a day would come when Jara would probably lock me in my room. Three of my sisters had been married off to good families and now Flora and I were left. She knew how much I loved being outdoors and so assisted me secretly to escape the mansion in a cart of hay so I could hunt. We both were unaware that Jara was to return today. I had only found out when I was strolling through the market, as people were getting ready to celebrate her homecoming and chatted about the victory in the battle.

Despite being an expert in hunting and always returning safely home, unfortunately, today when she had to come back, the ribbon which I had tied to the tree probably flew away or an animal tore it and now Tic and I were roaming aimlessly like fools to find our way back. So far, no success or maybe wait...

"YES! I hear the stream! Let's follow the sound Tic."  We both trudged through the foliage and luckily found the stream, by now the sun had almost set and seeing this I quickly lit up the torch which I carried in my bag after filling up my bottle.  Tic had also fully satisfied himself with enough water and I got up to continue our search way back.

However, I almost screamed seeing three buff men standing near the tree line above the stream, staring down at us, smirking.

"What?" That's right, I am not afraid.

"Why did you get up honey?. We were rather enjoying the view." UGH! Disgusting creeps. 

"I have important things to do. Come on , Tic."

I grabbed his leash and began to walk the other way instead of going up, but the sudden sound of their boots sliding across the sand caught my attention. Seeing this. Tic began barking at them and I had to turn around as he was being angry at the men and constantly pulling on the leash. However, my mind screamed to just get out of here and run. I couldn't fight these buff men and judging from their appearance, it was evident that they were bounty hunters as they had a specific way to dress. How did they get the permission to enter the forest is unknown to me. I will make sure they don't ever if I get back safely because this forest was deemed to be safe for hunters like me from such people.

"Tic , let's go!"

"Woah , don't know which is more feisty one , you or your bitch." I turned around , taking a dagger out of my belt , and in just these milliseconds , Tic was shot by one of the men's arrows.

"NO! YOU ASSHOLE! TIC!" 

"HAHAH! One down, the other to go." I had to be strong right now so I maintained my stance as they circled me like wolves. It was clear what their intentions were but I was not going down like a failure, I was Jara's sister after all.

"You have no idea who I am. I am Jara Armani's sister and if you dare touch me , she'll skin you alive assholes."

"Hmmm, General Armani, that wrench. Thanks for telling  us sweetie."

" Yeah , this is a cherry on top. Hey , Storm , imagine her face when she discovers her little sister all naked and covered in blood."

Geez. Someone grabbed me from behind in a tight hold and I tried kicking his shins but the other one grabbed my legs. I screamed as loudly as I could to grab someone's attention if there was any other hunter present in the forest. In reply, I could only hear birds chirping as they flew back to their trees. Was this my end? I couldn't even get to meet my sister even though I hated her because she was too protective but now, I needed her. I realized she was right about the cruelty of this world.

"LET ME GO! YOU'LL REGRET IT! DON'T YOU HAVE MOTHERS AND SISTERS AT HOME!?".

They started chuckling as one of them tore my skirt. 

"Even if we did-" The man named Storm who was taking his belt off in front of me was struck by an arrow right in the head which came from behind and the other two instantly got up to fight whoever did this but soon they too fell to their deaths by none other than my sister who came riding with her men in tow.

"Take their bodies to my basement."  Is she really back? She looked so different compared to months back. She silently walked over to me and without saying anything , picked me up and carried me home. I could tell she was pissed and didn't know if I should hug her or thank her.

"YOU NEVER LISTEN, DO YOU! WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU GO THERE ALONE! HUH?!"

"I-the weather was great today and Tic-

"I DON'T FUCKING CARE! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THEY WOULD'VE DONE IF I HADN'T REACHED THERE?. THOSE FILTHY ANIMALS, PIECES OF HORSHIT! HOW DID THEY EVEN HAVE THE GUTS TO TOUCH YOU!"

She had been yelling constantly and Flora, my sister was also grounded for not taking 'care' of me properly.

I stood like a statue as she took out her steam. Suddenly I was pushed on the wall behind and I could sense her fuming breath on my face. Her rough hands can nearly break my arms from the force she's holding me.

" This was the day I warned you about. Always! But you never listened. " She rubbed her temple and continued. "You will not even step out of your room for as long as I say. And I am shifting you to the top floor." 

"The attic? Jara...please no," I whimpered her name. How can she do this? The attic is cold and said to be haunted by my own parents' ghosts!. I don't know if it is true or not but I am not going there. Her eyes were still cold, unwavering as if only filled with the desire to cage me which was the thing I had nightmares about. I prayed that my tears would somehow melt her heart.

"No, please. Sorry. I won't go out. I promise!"

"I trusted you when I left you here but not now. " Surprisingly she hugged me as I cried. "You will stay there ... forever my baby sister. Nobody will see you, except me. "
