Underrated Haikyuu Teams on a Road Trip

Tsubakihara: All of them, closeted or not, are swifties. They blast Taylor Swift most of ride and scream the lyrics. At some point, Maruyama and Teradomari start arguing about Star Wars or Star Trek being the better franchise, but nobody listens. Kakugawa: Everyone gets hungry 10 minutes into the drive, and Komaki, the one in the driver's seat, is screaming at Asamushi for spilling Miso Soup in his car, while also screaming at other drivers because his road rage is bad when he's stressed. Ohgiminami: Oyasu and Towada are arguing over shotgun when Towada obviously called it, Akimiya's stressing out because he's driving while trying to keep things from going to hell in his car, Tazawa and Moritake are brawling over the aux cord, Natsuse is ugly crying for some unknown reason, Yokote started some beef with a trucker in another lane and is trying to jump out of the window, and Karamatsu is holding him back. Shinzen: Ōtaki decides to drive because she knows good and well that they'd end up in a ditch if she didn't, Ogano spots Ubugawa out the window and is screaming at Gōra from across the road, Shimafu is trying to pull Ogano away from the window, Naguri is screaming at Kodama for no reason, Kodama is crying because he doesn't like being yelled at, Chigaya is calling his boyfriend, who's team is screaming to Taylor Swift, and Akatani and Yoshikawa are controlling the aux cord and playing the Arctic Monkey's Humbug album, which Naguri is also screaming about. Ubugawa: Gōra nearly rear-ends a car in front of them while screaming at Ogano from across the road, Miyanoshita is climbing over everyone to wave at Ōtaki, Yukawa and Nanasawa are playing Nicki Minaj on the aux, Nakagawa is trying to calm Gōra down from the back seat, Ashiya and Isehara are sharing snacks, and Sengoku is listening to calming music through his headphones and ignoring everyone. Wakutani: Matsushima, who just got his driver's liscense, has taken the wheel and is freaking out, Hanayama is being a backseat driver, Nakashima is trying to keep Kawatabi from playing shitty rap on the aux, Naruko is badgering Nakashima about stopping to eat, Shiroishi is getting car sick and about to vomit all over Hanayama's new clothes, and Akiu is sleeping through the yelling and reckless driving.

“Forgive me, baby. Please.” So the scenario is Kuroo from Haikyuu!! had scared his partner’s kitten. His partner had the kitten for a few weeks trying to get them used to their surroundings and feeling not good enough to be a pet owner. Partner has a breakdown.

Omgosh this is so cute! With how cocky Kuroo is just imagining this makes me so giddy!

Prompt # 4 “Forgive me, baby. Please” ft Kuroo Tetsuro

“Baby, talk to me.” Kuroo softly spoke. His head leaned against your bedroom door, his eyes closed. You had shut him out and he could hear you crying in your room.

He didn’t mean to make you cry. He never wants you to cry and the fact that he was the cause of it tore into him. He thought back to what had made you cry in the first place.

Nekoma had finished their summer training along with other schools such as Fukurōdani, Ubugawa, Shinzen, and Karasuno, and today was the day that he came back from training. It was only a week but he missed you dearly even with the daily phone calls and texts. So as soon as all of the teams left and goodbyes were said to his teammates, he rushed to your home, where the two of you planned to be at so that he could meet your new kitten that you could swear looked like him.

Kuroo never had the chance to meet the new kitten because of how skittish it was due to it still getting used to your home, but the week he was gone, your kitten had started wandering around and stuck close to you, which Kuroo had forgotten as soon as he arrived at your home. He was so excited to see you that he forgot all about it as he opened your front door and loudly said ‘honey I’m home’.

You were sitting on the couch scrolling through your phone while you waited for him when he came in and it caused your poor cat to immediately run under the couch and hide.

“No wai-Tetsu!” You yelled as you gently got on your knees and tried to coax your kitten out from under the couch. What you didn’t expect is your kitten to swipe at you and scratch you.

When this happened, you immediately sat up and held your finger out. You were bleeding a little bit from the scratch and you shakily exhaled as tears filled your eyes. You had worked so hard to get your kitten comfortable and it had just finally started to settle in only to have it come undone in a moment.

Kuroo knelt beside you as he took a couple of giant steps to get to you as soon as possible. “Baby are you-“ his sentence cut off when you looked up at him, the tears that had filled up were now spilling out of your eyes. “I-I don’t.” You sobbed out before running to your room, closing the door behind you.

Kuroo had followed you only to have the door slammed in his face. Exhaling through his nose, he realized he had taken away all of your hard work and patience and he felt horrible. So here he was, leaning his forehead against your door trying to get you to come out so he could comfort you. He knew you were sensitive to the fact that you were a new pet owner. You talked about it with him, second guessing yourself, and Kuroo had always listened and reassured you.

“(Y/N), baby. Please.” He quietly begged. “Open the door.”

A high pitched mew could be heard by his feet. Looking down, he saw the pure black kitten that had come out of its hiding space under the couch. It looked back up at him before sitting down completely beside his feet.

Exhaling before he slowly crouched down to extend his hand to get the kitten used to his scent. The kitten jumped back and stared at him. As Kuroo silently stayed where he was, he could see why you said it resembled him.

Because Kuroo stayed absolutely still, the kitten made its way to him and sniffed his hand before licking his fingers, making him chuckle and pet the kitten, who accepted the attention with a purr before jumping in his arms.

Kuroo stood up and went back to the living room to take out the toy that he purchased on his way to your place, which was a ribbon attached to a stick. He set the kitten down and sat with his legs crisscrossed, waving the ribbon above it.

Taking out his phone, he recorded the kitten playing with the ribbon, doing ridiculous flips, head tilts, random jumps on its hind legs while it tries to grab the ribbon, and sends it to you, the message saying “Come out and give us attention ♡”

Shortly after, you had come out of the room, your eyes red from all of the crying you had done. When you looked up, your eyes widened a bit as you watched your boyfriend playing with your kitten, an impish grin on his face. You walked up to Kuroo and hugged him from behind, burying your face into the crook of his neck.

Chuckling as he felt you, he turned his head and kissed the side of yours as he raised his hand to pet the top.

“Forgive me, baby. Please.”

“You’re an idiot.” You said, your voice muffled by his neck. He let let out an airy laugh. You were right, after all. He might be smart with an affinity for science, but when it came to you, he was a complete moron.

And you still loved him for it.

Haikyuu Band AU: Miyagi Girls

AU where all the Haikyuu dorks go to the same high school and are in the Concert + Marching Band together. 

Michimia – Tenor Sax

Joined in middle school with Daichi and chose tenor to honor her grandmother who played it

Isn’t the best player but is always trying her best because she has a hard time finding motivation to continue practicing and playing when surrounded by such good players

Once tried to confess to Daichi with a tenor sax love song composition she found on Musescore (place people can put their compositions on)

It didn’t go as planned and she swears her friends Mao and Chizuru to never speak of it again (Daichi didn’t understand it was a love confession and complimented Michimia on her efforts to learn and play a piece so well and will definitely move up in chair placement if she keeps it up)

She does steadily climb up in chair placement and only realizes her senior year that she is really good, it’s just hard to shine when everyone else shines just as bright as you do

Loves band to death and wouldn’t change her experience for anything else in the world

Aihara Mao (#2 Karasuno Girls) – French Horn, Color Guard (Marching)

Joined in middle school with Michimia to support her (and her crush on Daichi)

Is the one to convince Michimia to confess via song (she has it recorded for prosperity of course)

Does Not respect slackers and will hound anyone who isn’t putting in enough effort into practice (she tried yelling at Kunimi once but after he showed he can still play and keep up with the rest she stopped)

Can be very sassy, not over the top sassy and not supper subtle sassy, the kind of sassy where afterwards you kind of question your existence for a good hour, especially when it comes to their musical skill level

Has a very good friendship with Kaori and rule field performances together

Sasaki Chizuru (#11 Karasuno Girls) – Flute  

Joined in high school her first year to try something new, dove in headfirst, only knowing the basics a head of time due to researching it in preparation (made Keshin’s life a bit easier compared to teaching all the other high school band newbies)

Is the exact definition of the friendly, supper cute, can never get in trouble flute player

Doesn’t know how Suga and Yahaba became flute players, because… well, they’re them and does her best not to get on their bad side (which she will never be on because she is among the sweetest members in the band)

Exemplary calm squad member and always has a fun handy game to play during long pre-concert/performance rehearsals

One of the hardest to keep track off during band trips due to her always running off to load up on every souvenir her wallet allows for

Misaki Hana (Johzenji Manager) – Clarinet, Bass Drum 2 (Marching)

Been playing since middle school, and was a casual player at first, not supper committed till she entered high school and saw how far she could go when real passionate effort is put in

Takes crap from No One and she Will run you over like a bulldozer if you test her, especially for her band friends

Isn’t one to accept false praise, or to be lulled into a false sense of security about her skill level, and only accepts brutal honesty so she can improve correctly

Due to her no-nonsense attitude Keishin almost begged her to switch to drumline on her second day of band camp to provide some sort of stability for his current line up

She agrees cause who would turn down the opportunity to be on drumline?

Runa (Johzenji Manager) – Tuba; Pit (Marching)

Joins her first year in high school and is super intimidated by everyone so joins pit to start off in

Learns the most from Asahi who helps her practice her parts when he’s done with his drumline rehearsals

When concert season arrives, she leaves percussion for the tuba section cause they have the least rowdiest members of the band in it, even though they look the most intimidating

Struggled at first with the tuba (mainly with seating and proper playing position), but after Iwazumi and Ushijima’s gentle encouragements she catches up very quickly

Becomes really good friends with Yachi and Himekawa (Tsubakihara) and they have planned, controlled panic attacks together before performances (Yamaguchi joins them sometimes)

Kanoka (Niiyama) – French Horn, Mellophone/Color Guard (Marching)

Got ‘dragged’ into band one day after school by Tanaka when she was being bullied, the band director was like ‘thanks for showing up, here’s an instrument’ and gets really into it and excels because of course she does

Has a really good ear for pitch, not perfect pitch but pretty damn close, until she does after entering high school (Semi played a big part in that)

Sort of, kind of, maybe, wants to join color guard in high school but doesn’t feel like she fits into the aesthetic, being as tall and awkward as she is

Tanaka and Yonezawa convince her to go for color guard her senior year, emphasizing their color guard doesn’t have a specific aesthetic to them (they point to Fukunaga, Hanamaki and Nametsu for prime examples, and Yahaba during winter guard)

Is supper glad to finally let herself be in color guard her senior year and everyone there accepts her with open arms of course because this is Haikyuu still and everyone loves everyone and is supper supportive of each other

Yonezawa Maiko (#12 Niiyama) – Tuba

(First off, Haikyuu Wiki finally put a name to her so a huge thank you to whoever did that!)

Chose tuba when she first joined in middle school cause someone one told her girls can’t play big brass instruments (she made them eat those words when she beat them all out for first chair)

Assisted Mao in getting Michimia to confess to Daichi through the tenor sax love song (she’s a sucker for a good romance)

Races with Houshiumi with their sousaphones back to their dot during marching practice (Keishin has a mini heart attack each time they nearly collide with the other students when they aren’t paying attention to their surroundings)

Is all for her best friend Kanoka to do what she wants and promises to beat up the people who will get in her way

Freaks out when she first meets Goshiki because it’s like looking in a mirror (Goshiki, the poor boy doesn’t know what to do and Tendou is sent to address the situation)

Ootaki Mako (Shinzen Manager) – Trumpet

Started in middle school needing an elective, and liked how crisp her band director made the trumpet sound

Really enjoys marching band and practicing outside because even if they don’t move around as much as the sports teams, she definitely counts sweating buckets as her daily dose of exercise (now her parents can’t complain about her not being healthy)

Helps Osamu coordinate with the band parents in prepping the meals for the band

Hangs out with Mao and Kaori outside of school and band a lot (they love highlighting all the stupid shenanigans the second years get themselves into)

Adds a nice balance to the trumpet section and gets them to either calm down when they get all riled up or enables it to a point where the conflicting parties solve their problems with a fight to the death (in a completely civil and legal manner of course, she doesn’t want to give Keishin more paperwork)

Miyanoshita Eri (Ubugawa Manager) – Alto Sax

Been in band since elementary school, making music so ingrained in her she always has a tune stuck in her head at all times

Like she can hear full symphony concerts playing in her head while taking tests during class (it makes solving algebra more dramatic that it should be)

Sticker creator and collector and has decorated all of her band items with them (water bottle, instrument case, portable foldable music stand, music folder)

Assists Yachi in designing all of the band promotional materials and section shirts

Was super stoked when she was finally able to play in Jazz band in high school, now she can really let go with her skills during the impromptu solo parts

Haikyuu Future Training Camps

Headcanon that after they all graduate once a year for the whole weekend the Karasuno, Nekoma, Fukurodani, Ubugawa and Shinzen teams get together and play games just like they did during their joint training camps.

They would switch players all the time just to mix it up and after awhile other teams and players joined and it turned into a huge event that would end up taking months to plan because of how much people end up attending. Even the coaches show up to watch the games and sometimes the younger coached (Ukai and even Takeda) play as well. 

Lots of the time the weekend had to be planned outside of the volleyball season because of how many players ended up going pro. As well there was never allowed to be more than 3 pro players on a team. 

At the end of the weekend though for the last game all the pro players would form a power team and go against the others. To decide who was gonna play they’d draw names out of a hat or something or maybe even just keep rotating constantly. Many many bets were made. Like which team would win, who would get the fist service ace, who would piss off who first, who would kiss on the court, those kind of things.
