Fragile Lines [Chapter Five] Tongue Tied [Ignacio "Nacho" Varga]
Tumblr media
Summary: Ria has an engaging talk with the client she met at Jimmy's office, but as she is charmed by him, an urgent call from the hospital shatters her life.
Warning(s): family drama, chance meetings, breakdowns.
No Minors Allowed!!
What have you done now?
Ria turned up her eyes in annoyance at the photograph of her brother in the Albuquerque Journal, the local newspaper. She had no idea that he went and pulled a stunt. According to the article, in the Metro section, Jimmy saved a worker who had plummeted during the removal of a billboard he paid to have put up; a billboard that violated the trademarks of Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill (HHM), a law firm that Chuck and his close associate founded in 1980.
During a video plea to gain sympathy for his mistreatment, the incident occurred. Jimmy claimed that he simply was in the right place at the right time.
Ria took an uneasy breath and tossed the newspaper on the table in 'Loyola's Family Restaurant' 14 minutes from her apartment. She couldn't believe her brother right now. Did Chuck know about this stunt?
I certainly hope not. I'd never hear the end of it.
She wanted to know Jimmy's reason before she tore him a new asshole. And after she defended him too; swore that he wasn't conning people anymore. This recent stunt didn't sound like it would draw money, but there was a method to his madness.
Ria tried to put aside her thoughts for the moment and enjoy her lunch. Her fries were a bit cold now, considering she was too wrapped up in her thoughts to eat, but she didn't mind. Turning her eyes toward the window she stared across the street at the gun shop. It was early in the afternoon and already the surrounding streets were teeming with vehicles; for a Thursday it was rather busy.
The sound of the door to her back coming open averted her attention. Ria turned her curious blue eyes to the side as a familiar man wearing a black button-down sauntered past her booth. What a small world. The client that she had almost run into at the nail salon halted by the occupied bar, glancing around. As far as tables went, there weren't many available; the couple that had been sitting in front of her had left at some point while Ria was lost in her thoughts, but their table had yet to be cleaned; Fran, a waitress with brown hair pulled in a messy ponytail quickly rushed over with a rag to do so.
Ria watched in curiosity as the man sat down at the table facing the door. Her face heated up in embarrassment as their eyes met for a brief moment before she picked up the newspaper, pretending to read the articles. As she was rereading her brother's recent stunt for the 3rd time she heard someone clear their throat. Raising a curious brow, she brought down the newspaper and glanced at the man in the button-down.
"Are you done with that?" He asked.
Did he mean the paper?
"Um... Yeah-- You can have it," Ria uttered. She folded the paper, leaving it on the Metro section as he stood and sauntered over to her table.
His brown eyes narrowed as he glanced at the picture above the article of her brother, then he grinned.
"This is your brother, no? I remember you from the salon."
"Yeah, I remember almost hitting you with the door. Again, I'm extremely sorry about that," Ria stated with a smile.
He glared at her the last time she apologized. This time he was unresponsive. Ria cleared her throat and offered the newspaper to him. As she did so, the door behind her opened, and a family of three walked in. Having no idea, they took the man's booth. What were the odds?
"You can sit here," Ria suggested with a sigh. "I won't be much longer."
Without a comment, he sat down across from her. She didn't notice it before having never been directly face-to-face with him but there was a scar through his left brow. Not to mention the top 3 buttons of his shirt were undone exposing his chest to her.
Ria cleared her throat and took a drink of her sweet tea. She wasn't lying when she told Jimmy she thought he was cute. A nervous air surrounded her, so thick she feared that he would know. And if not for Fran breaking the tension, bringing the charming man a cup of coffee. Once she left, Ria took an uneasy breath.
"I'm Ariana by the way. It's a pleasure."
"Nacho," the man retorted with a grin.
What a strange name. It almost sounded fake. He kept her attention a moment later before she turned her eyes down to the paper in her hand.
"Oh! I forgot. You wanted to read this, right?"
Nacho hummed and leaned forward.
"You know, to be honest, I just wanted an excuse to talk to you."
Ria felt her face heat up.
"Why would you want to do that? The last time we met you seemed bitter with me for barging in."
"With your brother," Nacho corrected. His brows knitted as he narrowed his eyes. "He turned me away."
This was a shock. Jimmy never turned away possible clients. Ria wondered what Nacho could have discussed with her brother to make him turn up his nose. She didn't know the context so she didn't dwell on it too long.
"I'm sorry to hear that. He's an extremely good lawyer, I assure you."
"I've seen," Nacho remarked.
Ria was relieved that he hadn't written Jimmy off completely yet.
"Let me know if he troubles you and I'll take care of him," she teased with a wink.
Nacho wet his lips.
"I'll remember that."
She grinned, an action that she had no control over. There was something about Nacho that intrigued her; perhaps it was because he wanted to talk to her, or so he claimed. For a brief moment, she was smitten. It was a bit cliche but given her recent track record, she didn't care.
"You have a pen?" He suddenly asked.
Ria raised a curious brow and nodded. She dug through her leather Taurus-inspired tote bag. As she searched for something to write with, she noticed that her phone screen was displaying several missed calls and text messages, one was from work and the others were from her brother. Handing Nacho a green gel pen, she checked to see what Jimmy wanted.
Chuck is in the hospital! Where are you?! The earliest message read.
Ria widened her eyes in shock. An air of fear surrounded her. Sending him a quick message, she glanced around the busy room for Fran.
"What is it?" Nacho asked upon seeing her alarmed expression.
"It's my older brother," Ria answered. Tears stung her eyes. "He's in the hospital. I need to leave."
Where was Fran?
"Go. I'll cover for you," Nacho suggested.
"Why? You don't know me," she mentioned.
Nacho slid the newspaper and the gel pen to her; a number was written above the article in the Metro section; his number she assumed. Ria was more confused than ever.
"Doesn't look like you have the time. Trust me."
She didn't know him, but he was right; she didn't have time to wait on the check. Ria stood up and snatched the newspaper from the table.
"I owe you, Nacho."
"I know," he retorted.
Ria quickly rushed from the diner and to her car. It was only a 6-minute drive to Lovelace Medical Center but it felt like an eternity. Once her car was parked, she yanked her nametag from her bag and rushed across the lot into the main lobby. The medical receptionist behind the counter was someone she was familiar with; a woman in her mid-forties with thin blonde hair.
"Ariana? I thought--"
"What room is Chuck McGill in? He was just admitted," Ria interrupted.
Cheryl checked her computer.
"He's in the psychiatric ward, room 348. Doctor Cruz is treating him."
Cruz? That was good. Ria quickly hurried toward the room, seeing Jimmy shoving phones and other electronics inside the clear wall mount outside the door.
"Jimmy?!"
He turned and stared at her; his expression was one of shock and worry.
"How is--"
"Put your phone in the box," he interrupted her with a snap.
Ria raised a curious brow at his cross behavior toward her and nodded, reaching into her pocket to retrieve her phone. All she had on her was the phone and once it was in the box, she walked into the room. It was dark; every machine was cut off to accommodate Chuck's condition; the man in question was lying on the bed alive but unresponsive to the world around him or the people at his bedside. Kim Wexler was an additional guest Ria did not expect to see. She gave her a polite smile and walked over to Dr. Cruz.
"I'm very sorry, Ria. We tried calling you," she mentioned.
"We all did," Jimmy added as he stormed past them. "Now tell me why he is here."
Dr. Cruz glanced at Ria a moment in concern and then sighed, crossing her arms beneath her chest.
"Apparently, it started when Charles stole his neighbor's newspaper."
Why would he do that? Ria raised a curious brow.
"What? He... He never leaves the house," Kim pointed out.
"I don't... I don't have all the details," Dr. Cruz claimed. "But the police found him in a very agitated state. He was confrontational and incoherent."
Ria imagined so. He went outside, so his EHS must have impaired him. But why did he steal his neighbor's paper? Jimmy always brought in the Journal whenever he came to check on him.
"How come you didn't call me?" Jimmy asked the doctor. "Uh, why did I have to hear about this through my brother's prick of a law partner?"
Howard Hamlin contacted him? His father was the one who co-founded HHM with Chuck.
"The only contact information we could find was a business card, though we knew he was kin to Ria on account of her employment, so we called her first," Dr. Cruz answered.
Jimmy narrowed his eyes and turned them to Ria.
"Where were you? All of this could have been avoided. He was in pain before I got here and turned off the machines he was strapped to."
Why was he blaming her? He was unreachable too.
"In my opinion, Charles should be committed for 30 days of psychiatric observation," Dr. Cruz mentioned, breaking the tension between them. "As his family, you can both submit a petition for him to be evaluated. There's an excellent facility in Las Cruces. He can be there tomorrow."
"I'd rather not," Chuck suddenly retorted. His voice was weak and broken.
Ria widened her eyes in shock and moved to stand beside Jimmy as he let Chuck know he was there for him. He never even mentioned Ria. Tears filled her eyes in response. What had she done to upset Jimmy so much? As Dr. Cruz attempted to check up on him, Ria excused herself from the room and retrieved her phone, then walked outside and sat near the curb.
It's fine. I'm not needed here.
The realization hit her like a ton of bricks and she began to sob. Ria didn't understand what was happening. She did nothing wrong and yet Jimmy was acting as if she put Chuck in the hospital. Warm tears rolled down her face as thought of everything she had sacrificed for her brothers.
I'm so fucking stupid.
She felt so alone. The phone in her hand felt like a ton as her hands shook. Then like an addict, she could not control herself any longer. Ria opened her phone and sent a pitiful message to her ex.
I know it's been a long time, but I need to talk to you more than ever. Please message me back when you get this. Please.

Don't get me wrong, I am still super proud of myself for finding such a cute, affordable flat in such a short amount of time, especially considering the mental/emotional hell I was struggling with from a messy breakup(and the aftermath of which continues to haunt me). And I also take great pride in all the organization, renovations, installations, and interior design that I put into it.
But...I mean... it's still just an apartment. In Albuquerque, no less. I can fluff it up with all the fancy French furniture, expensive appliances, and girly decorations I want. But it will always be kind of hood, just a little bit ghetto, no matter how much I fuss and fawn over the interior. It's what's outside that I'm worried about. Location, location, location!
I mean, in my first week here, I already lost a Louis Vuitton purse (!), as well as brand new rose gold hair straightener and matching curling iron, still in their boxes. Someone probably stole them, so I already mistrust my neighbors. And management acted all buddy-buddy right until the moment I signed the contract and they handed over the key, and then their true colors immediately started to show. When I reported the missing purse and salon products, and asked whether they were covered by my renter's insurance, they never answered the phone, nor returned my many messages, so I guess I just have to take yet another L.
On my first week, a crackhead also followed me up three flights of stairs while my hands were full carrying heavy boxes of stuff, and I barely made it inside in time to lock the door behind me, before he started banging on my nextdoor neighbors' window and begging for a lighter. As annoying and creepy as he was, I can't judge him too harshly for his pathetic addiction, as I also have several of my own. In fact, right before I chucked a used BIC in the crackhead's general direction, just to bribe him to shut the hell up, leave me alone, and go away, I had just googled "how to open a wine bottle without a corkscrew", and tried the so-called "Switchblade Method", with dubious amounts of success. In many ways, he and I are in the same boat. Desperation sucks. Depending on the kindness of strangers sucks. Needing a smoke or a drink as a crutch sucks. Like I get it bro. It could have been me knocking on doors at 10:00 pm asking for a corkscrew. It's whatever, man.
Even though I'm trying to see the best of this place, the property management sure as hell doesn't make it easy! This morning I saw a lease violation notice on my door, for supposedly violating the drape policy... Yeah yeah, I already know, no posters in the windows, no colorful drapes, just plain white curtains or nothing at all, to make the exterior as bland and boring and uninteresting as possible... It's an asinine rule, but one I follow regardless. Homie, I just left the plain white blinds that were already pre installed. Do I really seem like the kind of chick who would install a fluffy set of gawdy floral granny curtains?! Unless... They can't possibly be telling me to take down my drapes I installed on the bedroom doorway, for some kind of privacy, because there was no actual door?! Or maybe even the shower curtain that I had to install by myself and paid out of pocket for, because the landlord never even delivered on his promise to at least give me a freaking tension rod?! Either way, fucking yikes...
Landlords be wilding. Why am I paying nearly $1000 a month just to feel like an unwanted guest in my own home? And homeowners associations are even worse! Like imagine finally breaking out of the paycheck-to-paycheck monthly rent payment poverty cycle, finally being able to afford to buy your own house, the pride of truly being a home owner, of possessing your own personal property at long last, just for your grouchy old neighbors to still be able to tell you what you can and cannot do in your own house...

Tumblr media
What is Facial Treatment and Its Importance?
You ask this! Well, facial treatment is simply a way to unwind and relax your skin pores. It is vital for your skin from time to time to maintain your facial glow, beauty, and healthy skin all at the same time. This beauty treatment may be a short or an hour-long session, depending on your skin condition. So, give your skin the best love and care with this multi-step treatment, which involves massage, exfoliation, CTM, and more. In short, cleaning, toning, and moisturizing.
Types Of Facial on Your Skin Conditions:
Derma Facial
It is a skin-resurfacing procedure in which the uppermost layer of your skin is shaved away to remove deeply ingrained dirt, oil, and vellus hair. And it is a minimally invasive procedure using a scalpel or a dermatome tool and a rotating brush to exfoliate the skin.
Nanoneedle Facial
Another minimally-invasive facial treatment to rejuvenate your skin. The procedure involves a nano-needling-based transdermal serum delivery system to stimulate your skin’s collagen production. Nano-needling tips are thinner than human hair. This design gives you a little prick but not severe pain, as you imagine.
Hydra Facial
HydraFacial is quite like a treatment called microdermabrasion. Under the treatment procedure, a mildly abrasive instrument is used to exfoliate your uppermost thicker and uneven skin. You can also call it hydradermabrasion, in which your normal exfoliation is paired with a typical hydrating serum.
Tumblr media
Everyone wants to get smooth, bright, and youthful skin, and different types of facial treatments in Albuquerque are available for this reason. Facial skin care treatments can either last shorter or longer but definitely radiant your skin, so visit our website if you need the same service for your skin condition.
