HaladrielWeek2024 Day 2: Deception

A rearrangement of Galadriel’s, Halbrand’s, and Sauron’s themes, symbolizing their gradual transition from companions to enemies. Old project, new execution. Video by @youwearfinethingswellwriter.

When I posted the first draft of this piece last summer, it was a skeleton compared to this version. The foundation is almost the same, but the orchestra is literally twice the size. More layers, smoother transitions, better sound quality. I've really learned a lot since then. (For fuck’s sake, past self, use brass.)

Just saw this amazing Haladriel video on Instagram/Twitter from Slowburnia that I haven't seen shared here so had to!!! :D The storyline is about Galadriel going after Sauron in every lifetime as they end up getting reincarnated many times over. Loved them using all of Morfydd and Charlie's movies/shows (including Charlie's currently airing "The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart") as some of these weirdly match up so well. It basically has every AU fic we've thought of in this, and she even used clips of Robert and Calam to be Elrond and Celeborn in some of these lifetimes too.

We return from the Halls of Waiting with a winter gift exchange in celebration of the new season of Rings of Power!

This is event is open to the entire Haladriel community and anyone can participate. Gifts can come in the form of fics (min. 2k words), fanart, fanvids, music, etc,. All prompts and ratings are accepted.

The Schedule:

September 16th: Sign-ups Open. September 30th: Sign-ups Close. October 1st-3rd: Assignments go out. October 11th: 1st Check-in. October 25th: 2nd Check-in. November 8th: 3rd Check-in. November 22nd: 4th Check-in. December 1st: All assignments are due. December 25th: Gifts revealed!

Notes About the Event:

We have carefully worded the questions on the sign-up sheet to take individual preferences regarding content/triggers/ratings etc,. into consideration. When you receive your assignment, please be mindful and respect the request of your recipients. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from future events. If you have any questions, please reach out to a mod - either @thrillofhope or @scriberated

This event does require communication with at least one of the Mods of the event. Failure to communicate effectively may result in disqualification.

Because we want this event to be as inclusive as possible, and we are aware of some uncomfortable dynamics within the fandom, we have included a question on the sign-up sheet to address this and ensure that anyone who wants to participate may do so safely, and have fun.

All gifts are due on December 1st. All gifts will be revealed on December 25th.

If you need to drop out of the exchange for any reason, please let the mods know as soon as possible. While we have allocated time within the event for pinch-hitters to make additional gifts as needed, the sooner we know the better.

Participants are not required to reveal themselves at the end of the event. If they wish to post their gift as Anonymous, they may do so.

Oh good grief...

One week without a new episode of Rings of Power and I've already put out a Haladriel break-up song fanvid, and started up a RoP themed Twitter account.

Hey! I saw your Saundriel playlist....which is awesome!! But I wondered what you thought of Devil Devil by Milck as a Saundriel song? Honestly I'd love a fanvid with that song lol

Thank you! Actually it's a very fitting song, the lyrics goes well with their chemistry and is quite spellbinding

Definitely my favorite part of the song!! In a way, it makes me think of the quote 'The sea is always right', and since we all know we're talking about a doomed ship here, it's even more fitting in my opinion.

But I really would love to see a fan video of them with this song as well! Speaking of which, I might consider making a video of haladriel myself in the future, even though it's been roughly a year since I made any video and abandoned my YouTube channel.. Maybe once this blog reached a certain number of followers, I'll make one as a gift for all of you :)

Watched the first 2 episodes of "The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart" on Amazon and they did such a great job adapting this!!! :D I read it but it's another thing to see it on screen and with such a great cast. So many twists and how all these secrets get revealed. It is hard to watch at times but this is Alice's story and her learning the true history of her family and overcoming everything she goes through and learning the language of flowers and their meanings. The soundtrack is really good too. I'll watch 3 later tonight but then it's weekly for the other 4 episodes.

Then I have to add being a fan of LOTR/"Rings of Power" seeing Charlie Vickers in this role is such a prep for how we're going to see him fully as Sauron in season 2 and beyond. His character Clem in this is so similar and can go from terrifying to charming and loving and back in an instant. You get why Agnes fell in love with him, as did others, and we even have a child actor playing a younger version of him in flashbacks on the flower farm with his mom. He's also extremely gifted in woodworking just like Sauron with blacksmithing and jewelry, and uses that to charm over his wife, daughter, mother, and all the people in his life. Plus, it's mentioned he wasn't like that as a child by his sister Candy similar to how Mairon was "the admirable" and changed later and if I'm remembering right Melian (the fellow Maiar that a lot consider to be like his sister and also was associated with Yavanna like he was) said that she could still forgive him because of who he was before.

Then this little girl playing younger Alice looks and feels so much like Celebrían and how we've written her in our fics. She associates fire with her dad and water with her mom, also thinking of the selkie myth to describe her parents and that her mom needed to go back to her people in the water but her dad wouldn't let her go. Then her being named for "Alice in Wonderland" and then thinking of how Celebrían went to Valinor after her tragedy where Yavanna, Melian, and the rest were all there. There's so much already I can see us Haladriel shippers using for edits, gifs, fics, and fanvids. It's surreal sometimes for me how I pictured her and them and then now seeing this and there's likely to be more.
