Emily Singer at Daily Kos:
Co-President Elon Musk went on Fox News Tuesday night to whine about protests at Tesla car dealerships across the country, claiming he has no idea why anyone would be mad at him, since he's just a benevolent guy trying to help Americans. "It's really come as such a shock to me that there's this level of hatred and violence from the left. I always thought that the left, that Democrats, were supposed to be the party of empathy, the party of caring," Musk said in a Fox News appearance Tuesday night. "I’ve never done anything harmful, I’ve only done productive things. … This doesn't make any sense. I think there are larger forces at work." Of course, Musk has done extremely harmful things since he bankrolled President Donald Trump's 2024 campaign and wormed his way into a nebulous and powerful role within the federal government. Through his so-called Department of Government Efficiency, Musk has convinced Trump to ignore the law and cut congressionally approved funding, shutter government agencies, and make it harder for Americans to obtain their Social Security benefits. The moves have already had tangibly harmful effects. For example, his role in virtually shuttering the U.S. Agency for International Development—which a federal judge ruled on Tuesday violated the law—has led people in impoverished countries to die, including an 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl who were receiving HIV treatment through a USAID program, The New York Times reported. Shuttering USAID and the programs it ran to feed the starving and treat the sick could cause hundreds of thousands of people to die from hunger or diseases. And those diseases could spread to the United States if they are not kept under control.
Speaking to Trump toady Sean Hannity Tuesday night on Fox “News”, co-President Elon Musk told a giant lie to the American people in that he has “never done anything harmful.”

Donald Trump and Sean Hannity Set Off a Wave of Disinformation After Iran Bombing
Trump’s effort to border the bombing as a decisive finish to Iran’s nuclear ambitions, whereas closely disputed by arms management consultants, was picked up by supporters who claimed the bombing raid had successfully ended any potential battle. “No person is celebrating warfare,” right-wing commentator Dave Rubin wrote on X on Sunday morning. “Individuals are celebrating the top of warfare.”…

Can Trump and Musk Convince More Conservatives to Buy Teslas?
After climbing into a Tesla Model S last week, President Trump pledged to buy one. The next day, the Fox News host Sean Hannity said he had bought a Model S Plaid to support the embattled company, saying a Tesla “has more American parts in it than any other car made in our country.” In a backlash to the backlash against the tactics of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, prominent…

Ron Dicker at HuffPost:
Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) to apologize Monday after accusing the congresswoman of promoting violence against Elon Musk and Tesla. (Watch the video below.) Bondi’s demand came a day after she warned Crockett to “tread very carefully.” Crockett has been encouraging peaceful protest against Musk and his electric car company as the multibillionaire carries out Trump’s goal of gutting the federal government and its workforce. Demonstrations have sprung up nationwide, and so have acts of vandalism. On Monday, Fox News Host Sean Hannity avoided context when he mentioned Crockett’s remark that she wanted Musk “taken down.” Crocket made the comment last week while promoting a peaceful protest movement called “Tesla Takedown.” She made it clear she was endorsing nonviolent demonstration, and instructed participants to adhere to local laws. She again emphasized her plea for nonviolent action on Sunday, but reminded Bondi that President Donald Trump supported violent protest by pardoning extreme Jan. 6 rioters. Bondi noted that Crockett said she did not mean physical harm, but that didn’t stop the attorney general from continuing to label her comments as an incitement to violence.
“Words have consequences,” Bondi said. “And what happened after she said that about Elon Musk – she’s a Texan – and in her own home state after she said that, this morning three explosive devices were found in Austin, Texas,” she told Hannity, referring to incendiary devices found at a Tesla dealership there. “So she needs to unequivocally denounce the violence. She must apologize immediately not only to all Texans, but to our country, to the American shareholders of Tesla because she is promoting violence.”
Anti-American scumbag AG Pam “Can’t Understand Normal Thinking” Bondi demands that Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) apologize for promoting a peaceful nonviolent protest against Tesla called #TeslaTakedown.

If this is stoking anger, what about everything Democrats said in the summer of 2020 or after the 2016 election?
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/10/business/media/conservative-talk-radio-capitol-riots.html
If this is stoking anger, what about everything Democrats said in the summer of 2020 or after the 2016 election? Are you allowed to say “fight”? I hear Dems use it all the time in relation to elections and the desire to commit infanticide. Is Joe Reid “stoking listeners’ anger” with her hateful raciest redirect? Someone did try and assassinate Trump.
If a conservative talking head then requests protesters to remain peaceful and channel their “inner Martin Luther King”, do you really think they were calling for physical violence? And now Democrats want to shut down the AM station! Someone needs to tell these authors that Democrats dominate every other media platform.
Direct Quotes:
Two days before a mob of Trump supporters invaded the United States Capitol, upending the nation’s peaceful transition of power and leaving at least five people dead, the right-wing radio star Glenn Beck delivered a message to his flock of 10.5 million listeners: “It is time to fight.”
“It is time to rip and claw and rake,” Mr. Beck said on his Jan. 4 broadcast. “It is time to go to war, as the left went to war four years ago.”
Mr. Beck did not lobby for his listeners to invade the Capitol, and a day later, he urged marchers in Washington “to really kind of channel your inner Martin Luther King,” adding that violence is “just not who we’ve ever been.”
That clarification hinted at the often unguarded nature of talk radio, where hosts indulge in edgier fare than on TV networks like Fox News and listeners call in to say what they really think, insulated from the scrutiny of people they disagree with.
“It’s like your friend in the bar,” said Lewis A. Friedland, a professor who studies talk radio and politics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where stations serve up six or more hours of right-wing talk a day. “He’s your buddy, and he’s kind of like you and he likes the same kind of people that you like and doesn’t like the same kind of people that you don’t like.”
Just as Mr. Trump echoed the blunt language of talk radio, its hosts defended the president’s acidic language and frequent falsehoods — even when he claimed, without evidence, that the election had been stolen.
“Seventy-four-plus million Americans are not going to shut up, and you tell them that their views don’t matter?” Mr. Limbaugh thundered. “You do not know what you’re creating. You do not know the enemy you are manufacturing.”
This type of push-and-pull — stoking listeners’ anger, then pulling back and disavowing the more extreme views voiced by callers — is typical of corporate right-wing radio hosts, whose success relies on provocation but whose multimillion-dollar paychecks depend on staying within the bounds of their publicly traded distributors.
In the immediate aftermath of the Capitol riot, radio executives seemed to acknowledge concerns about a possible link between the violence and the shows.
After the Capitol riot, the same hosts denounced the violence. “Every good, decent honorable American would condemn all violence,” Mr. Hannity said on Jan. 6.
In the same broadcast, the host reminded his listeners that “hundreds and hundreds” of people had claimed to have witnessed fraud or irregularities in the election. “People feel like their voices aren’t being heard, and they’re angry,” Mr. Hannity said.

Why Trump’s Tesla Showcase Mattered to Elon Musk
It wasn’t so long ago that Elon Musk couldn’t even get an invitation to the White House. The year was 2021, and President Joe Biden was announcing tighter pollution rules and promoting his electric vehicle policies. Behind him on the lawn were gleaming examples — a Ford F-150 Lightning, a Chevrolet Bolt EV, a Jeep Wrangler — as well as the chief executives of the companies that made them. But the…
