trying to piece together how old rain is by the fact that i've made him look slightly middle aged but he's a half-elf but he's bhaalspawn and there was the whole bhaalspawn situation and bhaal being dead until like after the second sundering so he probably wasn't creating new little cretins but he's certainly not older than bhaal being dead bc that would be way too old and all of bhaal's children had to be killed for him to be brought back anyway so the durge must be a second/third gen bhaalspawn like orin because otherwise he'd be like 14 at most if he was created after bhaal was ressurected like

I really like your dark urge posts and especially the ones about orin and I really find fascinating how the sibling are understood almost in the inverse depending on the audience like outside the temple people dislike Orin IMMENSELY because she’s seen as too bloodthirsty and we do see evidence with her killing assistants of Gortash just to talk about how badly she want to gut him and how she doesn’t stray from that conversation and she does believe in Bhaal’s dream of killing everyone, but in the temple about the Bhaalist and pre game Durge she’s condemned heavily for being too artistic and premeditated and valuing quality of a murder over quantity which we see a method to the people she chooses to kill or kidnap to hold hostage or how she needles you with letters at fight versus just fighting or even her dramatic intended original coup against Durge not even making sure they’re dead and frankly from her diary entry calling them mindless and her speech about wanting them to be a mindless puppet it seems like she didn’t want them dead vs to live disgracefully originally and we see how she does use bodies as display even her own mother in there privacy of a room no one is going actively in and out.
Versus Durge is praised by Bhaal, the butler, and everyone in the temple not only for their direct line from Bhaal alone that orin can’t replicate ever even if her line is probably intentionally murky so Sevarok who already tried to throw a coup against Bhaal himself could get as close as possible to making his own kid related to only himself to do what he couldn’t (and sevarok and bhaal both setting Uk the sibling to end up in fight to the death like the fratricide duel practice saverok I believe started? And that sevarok if you confront him after killing Orin will try to kill you to be the chosen and given him having Helena try to be a chosen by killing Orin probably was not only trying to be the murder god again by setting these murders up but also does what he both compliments and insults Orin for by raising quietly through the side and in his case by not even doing the killing himself despite the title he wants). Especially if you break her verbally she accuses Durge of stealing both her and her grandfathers inheritance from Bhaal despite being made by Bhaal given how Helena doesn’t hesitant to try to take her place but makes me wonder what on earth their conversations with like that he didn’t immediately seem like a lair talking around either Helena or Durge or other worshippers.
But I find it so interesting that through the play through and the way durge both boast the quantity of their kills, the wha they’re praised by most bhaalist and insult by orin for it, they’re definitely as much if not more bloodthirsty then orin. Yet outside the temple Durge palms multiple heists that require patience and premeditation and discipline including in the hells and from an arch demon and was respected and feared by people outside the cult for their violence and control. And even taking a tip from Goretash about former bhaalist bones in a museum and taking offense at it being tourist attraction bc Durge does have some idea and defensiveness about the temple as a family and planning both a heist for the bones but also a murder of many as revenge/Justice. And this does concede with Goretash dies of murder as a means of messaging but that relation ship is also so interesting here the gap he sees the two’s behavior as. Especially since their relationship with Goretash that had them apologizing to Bhaal for losing sight of the goal to kill everyone and is condemned by Orin for doing such yet, Goretash not only explicitly says he respect you for your control and discernment he doesn’t think Orín has but canonically massively dislikes mass murder and doesn’t even want to hear what you think about it if you argue with him about Orin after killing her despite you being a bhaalist. Which I definitely think is related to the sides of the two he saw. Which I feel like must have built the resentment more for Orin seeing durge not only get praised for a huge long term plan but sounding more like bane disciple then a bhaalist and she’s the one insulted for things you both associate more with the older sibling.
People do both act differently and are seen different by different people especially groups but I just find it so interesting and I think the game does a good job here showing how roe game durge and orin were neither that different but also why they clashed so badly she’d attempt a coup but also couldn’t carry out the plan durge started and how much other people influenced (especially directly from the butler to sevarok to bhaal) their relationship and antagonism. (Though I also think the difference in perception is related to Durge growing up outside the temple and not meeting the butler until “maturity” versus Orin being born and raised there). Idk I just think it’s very neat and drive the sibling animosity in such an abusive home to an interesting boiling point where you can se how Orín and and pre game Durge saw and understood more of each other then other people who couldn’t understand not being in the family or the temple (especially Goretash saying he’s never been to the temple) but also never really respected or looked in the other in the eye truly.
Sorry for the length, I just find it all really interesting but I really like fratricide in fiction where it’s the aeducan family cycles of brothers killing brothers in dragon age or lion king or hamlet. I think larian did a great job escalating their themes of abuse and familial cycles of violence for the Dark Urge Origin and I would love more of your thoughts on any of it 😅
You, you are my favorite ask this year.
Thank you for giving me the chance to infodump about my Durge Family Mechanics and just how much of a sad and pathetic little meow-meow Orin is if you really think about it.
So Durge was the Golden Child, the Prodigy, the Purest Bhaalspawn that ever was, An Antichrist born from a drop of Bhaal's own gore. Durge never stood a chance, from both the Noble Stalk and Lvl 6 Heal its been shown that Bhaal has had his murderous claws in Durge's mind since the very beginning. No Childhood friends allowed, no other family allowed, nothing outside of Bhaal's Grand Design for global murder allowed.
"Was i sweet once?" In snippets and chances stolen when you could, you were sweet and you tried and tried and tried- But you were the Golden Child, The Purest Bhaalspawn, The Antichrist. You never stood a chance. Any connection was severed when you slept, any escape route was closed by death, any outside connection was forcibly removed. Only Bhaal, only the Dark Urge.
And then we have Orin. Orin: the Zuko to your Azula, the Scar to your Mufasa, the child who always came second. Sarevok may not be working on the same level that Bhaal is but he still never gave her a chance.
Raised by murderers, raised by the cult. She is the child of a child of a Bhaalspawn, and the child of a Bhaalspawn on top of that. Let's not get into that and instead get into how Sarevok, in his own ways, ruined any chance Orin had as well.
Orin may never have had the Dark Urges, she never had Sceleritas whispering in her ear and encouraging her worst aspects, she never had the hooks of Bhaal himself clawed deep in her very mind and soul. And yet because of Sarevok she never stood a chance, she was raised to kill Durge. Raised to kill the person that was raised as her sibling. Raised to hate and despise Durge and desire their downfall all because Sarevok wanted what he was denied in the first games. Where Durge was made to be the perfect Bhaalspawn, Orin was raised to be the perfect Bhaalspawn.
And yet it was never enough.
Orin is despised by the cult for not being enough, not being murderous enough, for killing wrong, for not being as pure as Durge. the people who raised her, who she grew up around, looked down on her as second best and passed her over in favor of Durge. Is it any real wonder that she struck out and tried to murder her sibling? to take what she was raised to crave and desire? To try and claw some semblance of respect from the peoplke who despised her?
And it was never enough.
She wasn't Durge, she wasn't the mastermind, she wasnt enough: Not for the cult, not for the Chosen, not even for Bhaal. she was the second best, the runner up, the perpetual failure who wasnt a pure Bhaalspawn. The chosen hate her for not being Durge, the Cult hate her for not being Durge, Sarevok sees her as a tool and Bhaal sees her as a replacement.
Neither Orin or Durge had a childhood, not really. Durge was a cuckoo forced into an unsuspecting nest, a nest that was coated in blood because of Bhaal. Orin was raised by serial killers and murderers, almost choked by her own mother because of Sarevok. Durge had friends: friends they played with, friends they vivisected alongside Sceleritas. but did Orin? Did Orin have anyone besides subordinates and lackeys? Perhaps she didnt, perhaps young Orin looked at Durge having a family (until it was ruined) and friends (until they were stolen away) and seethed.
Neither Durge nor Orin had anything outside the cult: any connection severed, any lifeline cut. And together they were pti against one another. Durge looking down at the upstart, and Orin looking up at the idol. Hate upon hate, fueled by Bhaal and Sarevok. Fathers who saw them as tools, as weapons, as things instead of people.
They never stood a chance

pssst - useful Durge information here youtube
/watch?v=V5LHGZBoilQ&t=289s
Ayyyyyyyyyyy it's my good good hat man! So sad he dies if you reject Bhaal, it makes sense but still. But he's so proud of Durge for being a good little murderer, I love it.
Obsessed with him calling Durge a demiurge, by the way. Sceleritas a demiurge's job is the exact opposite of what Durge is supposed to do. I guess the creator of a dead world has still technically created a world...?
Interesting that Sceleritas was apparently sent to guide Durge when they reached their "age of majority", given we hear his voice in the pre-Orin Heal cutscene. Is that just him connecting to Durge in the present, or does he consider their age of majority being their first killing spree? Also, one thing I find very interesting is that apparently despite fully committing themselves to Bhaal they still need Sceleritas, which with the way he talks about it suggests that even at this juncture, having taken back the mantle of Bhaal's Chosen and agreed to their given task of ending the world, they still aren't totally loyal. There's still reason for Bhaal to think they need to be managed. (Also "I shall be sick, fetch the Bucket of Bhaal" continues to be an absolutely golden line.)
Sceleritas insisting that Durge's memory loss is purely brain damage makes sense, but it does contradict Omeluum saying that you don't remember because someone doesn't want you to if you ask him about it back in act 1. Possibly he was wrong. Possibly Sceleritas is wrong. I have some suspicions, but I'll get to that in another post. Him assuring Durge he still thinks they're very clever is precious, though. It doesn't seem like Orin's digging around damaged anything aside from Durge's memory, but it's still cute that Sceleritas feels the need to assure them. Sceleritas saying the worst thing Durge ever did was giving a beggar some coin without kicking or spitting on him is very sad, although given it happened while they were en route to the Devil's Fee I do have to wonder if Gortash was there. I bet he'd tease them about going soft. I also like that one of the things making Durge better than Orin is the fact that they experienced life outside the Temple; it's unclear when exactly they showed up, but given you can be any number of classes that require certain experiences that you wouldn't be able to get in the Temple (a cleric or paladin Durge can serve gods other than Bhaal and bard Durge must have gone to a bardic college at some point) they were presumably an adult by the time they arrived. Also once again we hear about Durge being sculpted from Bhaal's own gore, which is just all sorts of concerning. And confirmation that the Urge is unique to Durge! Which is fun. Also interesting that Orin's bloodline is so far below Durge's in terms of connection to Bhaal's; she really never stood a chance at gaining Bhaal's favour as long as Durge lived.
I assume if you ask Sceleritas about if you'll be able to spare your lover his answer changes depending on the lover in question. I'll have to keep an eye out for that when I do my evil run, since Kyvir is Gay As Fuck and so has zero lovers he could create more Bhaalspawn with. Although given Bhaal in general seems to give approximately zero shits about his kid or their comfort that has some very uncomfortable implications... And it sounds like the Urge is at least sort of gone if you take on the mantle of Bhaal's Chosen? Which kind of makes sense, if Bhaal assumes he's got your leash wrapped so tight around your neck you won't step out of line again. Also, very interesting that Sceleritas refers to the tadpoling as a rebirth for Durge; he's sort of right, but it's still interesting.

I said I was done, but this still is on my mind and I lied.
Here's me bashing the mish mash of conflicting lore together in speculation on how Bhaalspawn work for my own "fuck you collective of official gibberish, this is my take on it" canon (again, BG2 spoilers):
I have settled on extraplanar outsider rather than native (despite the majority being born to humanoid parents). As outsiders their bodies and souls and intrinsically tied together in a way humanoids' aren't. If they die outside of the plane of Gehenna then their body dissolves and they return to that plane; if they die on the plane the rules are that "To die in this place is to cease to exist," as Irenicus helpfully put it. He's still around afterwards, so I assume he's referring to Charname (Gorion's Ward) specifically. Should the soul somehow depart to the Lower Planes without the living body, the body might follow it there (I think the body dies? I was never terribly clear on the exact details of what happened in that part of BG2...)
When Sarevok died, his body and soul dissolved and returned to the Throne of Blood, where he/his independent part of Bhaal's essence was absorbed into the "pool" of collected Bhaalspawn souls/essence. "Echoes" of dead Bhaalspawns' personalities exist within Bhaal/the collective, much as the mortal mage Midnight is an echo within the goddess Mystra, and sometimes they can be separated back into independent beings if a portion of Bhaal's essence is granted to that echo allowing them to reform a physical body and live again.
Sarevok was able to reform because he was given a fragment of Bhaal's essence (independent from the whole) - not enough to restore him to true demigodhood, but enough to materialise a physical body.
(There is... an interesting way to interpret the Dark Urge's creation here, where they're one of the original Bhaalspawn reborn - although it's not one I personally plan to use. Also the fact that they're apparently born from Bhaal's dead physical body, not the pool of essence, implies something strange happened, regardless.)
I'm not sure where Bhaalspawn stand when it comes to souls; judging by Bhaal complaining that Charname is "strange amongst their kin" because their soul has independence, they're not supposed to have one inherently separate from Bhaal's essence, that independence is just a quirk (Charname was explicitly a special prophecy child, they're the exception to the rules). Bhaalspawn can have the divine essence/their soul extracted from them and still physically exist, although it will eventually kill them. Their bodies are also considered part of Bhaal, he is described as existing in "the very fibre of their being[s]." Even after supposedly ceasing to be Bhaal's children, both Sarevok and Durge are explicitly stated to still carry Bhaal's essence in their bodies and will pass it on to any offspring they have. As 5e lore has retconned the possibility of having Bhaal's essence totally cleansed from a Bhaalspawn, rendering them pure mortal, I am rolling with that one and ignoring the mortal ending (I always go for the god endings anyway). Bhaalspawn remain what they are always. As I like them.
It does seem like their body, soul and Bhaal's essence are one big chunk, instead of the usual division of body and soul seen in full mortals. As he says: "he is [them]"; their "whole being is borrowed"; etc.
Which leaves the question of "Withers what the fuck did you do. What are you planning??" in regards to Durge being resurrected. I have no idea, but I didn't play the special snowflake demigod to have my special snowflake status stripped from me, so I'm clinging to "Durge is still a quasi-deity, and you cannot pry that from my cold, dead hands." Larian can even release a DLC or BG4 that tells me otherwise; I will ignore it.
"BG3-" Larian has left out, changed or ignored/forgotten a load of stuff about how Bhaalspawn work in their story (which is their right, it's DM fiat). There should be no "Little Brother Toop's" corpse on display on the hall of wonders because he shouldn't have a corpse. I'm blaming the tadpole, ignoring it and moving on.
Imoen is disqualified as an aberration; her thing is purely game mechanics not matching the lore that was established before they retconned her into a Bhaalspawn. Doesn't count.
We are not in Larian's house for this interpretation, just as they are not in Bioware's; we are in mine now and I'm ill and grumpy.

Having durge/gortash thoughts for my own dark urge, Veren in relation to their old dynamic after reading some people's Big Brain ideas in the gortash tags. Yall are so powerful
But like. Veren is a redeemed Durge and rejects his inheritance - so this is all in the flavour of New Me kind of Durge.
Veren and Gortash absolutely fucked nasty style pre-lobotomy but I'm in love the the idea they were IN LOVE too... not just the love that looks to be there in-game; where Durge was willing to stand atop a dead world with Gortash killed last - but actual total adoration that Veren actually Was going to forsake Bhaal once the plan was in full motion. Bhaal surely couldn't touch him once the world was at his fingertips, and Gortash would rule with him, right?
(Loud incorrect buzzer)
But like I really want to write some things like the theft of the Crown where Gortash has a hard time being back in Avernus and despite Veren being utterly merciless, covered in gore and just general insane murder hobo antics - he stops dead in his tracks the second he clocks Gortash's discomfort. All focus is now on getting Gortash through this as quick as possible and he's Here for him and if they need to stop It's Okay (it's not okay they are in Hell but Veren will fight anything that dares get close - gods help whatever stupid demon rounds the corner if Gortash needs a moment)
I said the Veren/Astarion dynamic is the submissive like a guard dog but like same dynamic tbh. Veren by nature is a super protective guy and will move mountains for His Special People.
I really want to write something too where, although his memories are gone of Gortash and his time together, at the coronation he recognizes Gortash is struggling with Orin and offers him a deal.
They'll team up but he has to come with them and Actually help. He can bring Steel Watchers to 'camp' (outside the Tavern) and whatever else he needs against Orin but he is Helping Actively: this comes after a night of Veren trying his damnedest to rekindle whatever the hell they had going on before that he Forgot - because despite having Astarion now, this is too golden of an oppportunity to pass up trying to manipulate *Gortash*. Astarion even gives him tips!
It doesn't go well but Gortash thinks he can manipulate what little is left of his lover and that Maybe once the stones are secure they can try to mend that once beautiful brain he loved - but he still sees little flashes of what once was and it Hurts Big Time.
Gortash witnesses the Spawn kidnapping attempt and Veren calls the whole thing on pause because they are Dealing With Cazador NOW.
Gortash recognizes that love just isn't there anymore for him; Astarion is what he used to be to whatever scraps are left of Veren. (:
I'll probably add more I'm startin to Cook

VALAS TIME BAYBEEEEE #6[maybe???]: How does your Dark Urge feel about love [please provide extra context not already known by one effelants]?
Back for more durge asks! (questions from here)
18. How does your Dark Urge feel about love?
So I think left to his own devices Valas would have ended up a bit of a hopeless romantic—his father gave up being a god to be with his mother, after all. (I mean, it was a little more complicated than that, but he was a kid hearing the story, that's what he took away!)
But then, of course: Bhaal. Instead of the foster family murder from the in-game memory (his parents are both already dead at this point), Valas' first kill when his urge comes is his first love. Directly cutting him off from support he could have turned to outside the temple, and setting him for the basic idea that love (especially romantic love) is something he can't have, it's something he shouldn't want, there's nothing for him but his purpose through Bhaal.
Which leads to love being something he has a hard time expressing, or admitting to, but oh man does he feel it, if it works its way past the repression. Those devastating, confusing, horrible feelings for Gortash that wouldn't go away no matter what he tried? (yeah that was love, Valas, my sympathies)
That combined reticence and want and belief it shouldn't be for him persists past the loss of his memories. So when he finds it despite himself, first in his friends and then in his relationship with Astarion—oh, he's going to fight for it.

Headcanon: Riqyn & A Bhaalspawn's Purpose ( Put below a cut as it contains talk of CSA, SA, self harm/mutilation, and child abuse. Cult stuff. DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT. )
I haven't really touched this part of Riqyn's backstory / character because it's a very dark topic and while I understand that I have been nothing but forthcoming about the contents of my blog, this backstory pushes my own personal comfort level. I’ve been content to leave it hazy and forgotten as part of Riqyn’s nature as a Dark Urge playthrough, but it isn’t true to her character. She does not get tadpoled. She remembers everything except for what her mind has forced her to forget as a trauma response. But this still remains content I would not be comfortable bringing up in a thread, so I’ve hesitated to post anything about it. But after talking to (@)musezieren about a cut Dark Urge ending that I didn't know about, I figured I should just probably stop shying away from it because it is canonical, it is fucked up, and if I make a post about it, I can always reference it under caution. Its a very big part of the reason Riqyn is the way she is - it would be disingenuous to her character to simply ignore it. So without further ado, Riqyn’s full backstory under the cut.
Riqyn's entire purpose, the whole reason she was made, was to be a breeder. She was never meant to be the Chosen. Her role was never as a leader or priestess, never as a sacrificial lamb. She was always meant to be a cog in a well-oiled machine, and never anything more than that. Bhaal tried to "prepare" her for such a life by hand-choosing the human couple that would raise her. The husband was a serial predator of girls and young women, and the wife looked past it because it meant she wasn't getting raped and abused. She was a victim herself, but despite that, Riqyn blamed her for a lot of the abuse she suffered. In her eyes, her mother was supposed to protect her from harm. Instead she perpetuated it by remaining silent. The abuse started young, and continued until their deaths when she was a preteen; leading to her unhinged personality. Like most children who are abused, she developed a pattern of violent, unruly, and worrying behaviors that raised a lot of concerns among other parents and children alike.
Unfortunately, they chalked it up to her being a Tiefling, rather than any potential psychological issue or abuse. It was not uncommon to see her come home with black eyes or scraped knees from fights she had gotten into, but this was not appreciated. Her father especially was worried about her behavior drawing too much attention to himself and his misdeeds, and would beat her regularly for acting out. Her parents simply could not and did not want to handle her unruly behavior properly. When she finally snapped, she killed them both; ending her mother’s life quickly and mercifully while she enjoyed the slow torture of her father’s death over several days.
By the time she’s recalled to the temple in her teens, Bhaal has already prepared a set of suitors who would produce incredibly powerful Bhaalspawn children. However, due to the abuse she suffered, she had not developed enough physically in order to conceive and bear children. A small issue, which time would resolve quickly enough. While waiting for such a time, she was assigned as the attendant of the Chosen. The specifics of her role vary depending on the interaction/verse, but consist of things like sexual gratification of the Chosen, a live prey item for murder practice or enjoyment ( she would be revived after ), companionship for the Chosen, and any other activities the Chosen assigned her. It was during this time that she trained and honed her blade skills without Bhaal's blessing.
Once Riqyn came of age ( finally, in her very late teens to early twenties, again depending on verse ) scars and bruises became punishable offenses. That meant anyone who brought undue harm to her could be killed. As her body needed to be in "excellent form", intensive physical activity such as sparring was also expressly forbidden. She was removed from her role as attendant and set into the life she was meant to live. Her room was far more lavish than most, as it served to host many of Bhaal’s most powerful allies — the ones who would sire his army of Bhaalspawn. It was, however, little more than a prison cell for the young woman. She was isolated and lonely, and had to host as many of her father’s chosen sires as she possibly could. She was never allowed to say no, no matter who or what walked through her door. From this, she surmised she simply needed to make him love her more. She sought this love through obedience, growing numb to the grim reality of her life and accepting her fate. She grew close with Orin, capitalizing on their shared love of Bhaal. Despite it all, there was little that could prepare her for the shock of actually conceiving a child. It would have been the first of many, a realization that shattered her calm acceptance and sent her spiraling again for the second time in her life.
In a fit of fear and bloodlust, she took a blade to her belly, cutting out the parts of her that Bhaal had forced her to carry; throwing them onto a burning altar before collapsing from blood loss. She was rushed to Kressa Bonedaughter to mend, but before she could find suitable replacement organs, the Chosen fell into her lap. With a far more important and interesting task at hand, Riqyn remained injured and unresponsive until waking up in the wreckage of a Nautiloid. An accidental shipment crashed and lost among the wilds Faerûn; forever freed from her duty.

idk if I'll be adding to this later but for now, Here You Go. Introducing the family tree of my durge, Lithna'rod (or otherwise Lilith), whom I took the whole "Bhaal Jesus" of it all to the next level and made her an ancient shapeshifting cosmic horror. Fun Facts + Additional Lore below.
Rather than being the sole spawn of Bhaal like lore dictates, Bhaal got freaky with an Elder Evil, making Lithna'rod both a starspawn and a bhaalspawn.
I call her 'ancient' because she's indeed immortal, but due to the Bhaal Stuff only happening oddsome 100 years ago, Lithna'rod is only about 133.
She was 'born' fully grown, mentally and physically, a la being summoned by Niveen. Niveen is her first love, alongside being the one to teach her how to be 'human'. By that I mean he taught her how to be a hedonistic cultist that maybe takes pleasure in cultist acts more than necessary. It's the thing that often trips her up with Dada Dead, because she's meant to cause the end of the world but she's too busy partying.
Lithna'rod is a shapeshifter and takes on different identities throughout her lifetime. Despite this, she is not a changeling: it's due to her being a starspawn.
Rayyan is my would-be Good Dark Urge Run. He is constantly haunted by his destiny to bring the Evil Elder's to Toril.
Rayyan is also weirdly similar in age to Lithna'rod, due to Lithna'rod being born grown and then having Rayyan.
Rayyan was abandoned by Lilith during her Liberio era. But he's also immortal, so he's still kicking, resisting his urges.
Crused Lore: Lithna'rod did indeed fuck gnoll, whilst she was a man, and get it pregnant. (Based off of cut content where Minthara was pregnant, and there was a theory that it was Orin's considering her shapeshifting + Bhaal Breeding Agenda)
She does not know her two half-gnoll children exist. They are also immortal so they're still kicking.
Obould is a canon character in DnD lore and he has four unnamed wives, so I took it upon myself to make Lithna'rod one of them. While most of these children are not biologically related to Lithna'rod (thus hold none of her powers), I'm still counting them because Lithna'rod likely had part in raising them.
Yes, they do indeed have two children named Urlgren. I did not write that. It's something with conflicting wiki's and sources and I decided it was funny enough to keep.
All of these children were killed except Urlgren/Obould II. Lithna'rod became frustrated with the deaths of her many sons/the failure to convert the kingdom to Bhaal, so she eventually went awol.
This is not the end of Lithna'rod's timeline, but it is the end of her family tree so far.

I went back to my Calio game because Astarion being bugged after breaking up with me was annoying me.
It is almost hilarious how different the two files are despite both being a DU playthrough. Eccardian more or less resisted the Urge on almost every occasion, and he had the full party including Jahiera, Halsin, and Minsc (minus Lae’zel currently but I’m hoping she isn’t permanently dead and the game is just psyching me out >_> It would kind of suck if Orin just spirits away one of your companions and kills them off screen). Eccardian also got rejected by Astarion and ended up sleeping with the Emperor and Halsin to try to get over him. Just went straight down the rabbit hole of monsterfucking the moment that pretty vampire broke his heart.
Calio on the other hand embraced the Urge far more often than he resisted it, and the only party members he has left are Shadowheart, Astarion, and Gale (he never met Karlach, Shadowheart killed Lae’Zel, Calio accidentally got Wyll condemned to Avernis, Jaheira died at Last Light when Calio caused a massacre there by killing Isobel, and Halsin stayed behind in the shadow lands since the curse was never lifted—since the man who knew about Thaniel died at Last Light too.) And yet Astarion adores my awful little murder man, and Calio is 100% behind Astarion on his goal to steal ascension right out from under Cazador. They are a terrible influence on each other and I love them for it. He started calling Calio Bhaal-babe after they found out he was a Bhaalspawn.
