#YesAllWomen - The Power of Hashtag Activism for Female Empowerment
With the word ‘active’ in the name, it would be easy to assume that activism couldn’t be performed by sitting behind a screen. But the growing popularity of ‘hashtag activism’ shows that social media is playing a significant role in modern activism, where the hashtag has become a vehicle for raising awareness of various issues. My favourite example of hashtag activism is the #YesAllWomen movement which went viral on Twitter in 2014.
The rise of this hashtag came shortly after a gunman killed 6 people near a university campus in California. It was discovered that the gunman had posted a series of disturbing YouTube videos leading up to the rampage which detailed his lack of sexual experience with women and his resulting resentment towards them. This horrific incident, as well as many other similar ones, led to women worldwide expressing their anger and frustration towards the harassment that every woman experiences from men.
The hashtag was created as a direct response/criticism of #NotAllMen, which minimised women’s protests against sexual harassment by framing them as misandrist. #YesAllWomen is a direct response to this claim, with women worldwide coming together in solidarity to reassert the fact that while not all men sexually harass women, all women have experienced harassment by a man in their lifetime.
Several tweets like the ones above use the two hashtags in the same tweet, illustrating that while the argument behind both hashtags are true, #NotAllMen seeks to downplay the sexual harassment experiences of women by making the situation about men. By using both hashtags in the same tweet, the intended audience can be reached as people browsing #NotAllMen will see these tweets.
However, that isn’t the only purpose of #YesAllWomen. It has also frequently been used as a way for women to share their personal experiences with misogyny and to raise awareness of the injustices that women face by using the format ‘#YesAllWomen because…’. This textual use of the hashtag uses the hashtag as the beginning of the sentence, putting the movement at the forefront of the conversation with the rest of the sentence explaining why they are using the hashtag.
These tweets are a powerful example of the hashtag being used to initiate a movement, as the format being used is simple enough that it can be used by thousands of people to share their own experiences. As a direct contrast to #NotAllMen, it is a powerful example of female solidarity, with women reasserting their right to feel safe. While hashtag activism should not be the sole form of activism, it certainly has its place as it makes it easier to raise awareness of countless issues, with the hashtag allowing movements to trend rapidly.

LORE POST*SIRENS*
This is like immediately after Wheatley joins The Unreliable, saved from his fate in Byzantium by the crew. Now he's dealing with memories that arent quite his on top of a hefty bounty on his head. tbh i kinda just wanted an excuse to draw the piloting room so i can add GLaDOS next,,,, soon.
Wheatley V.1 still exists, lightyears away mind you, but that lingering feeling of the endless void of space is cemented in Wheatley subconscious at this point. a pitch black coffin he feels hes already buried in. He also has no fucking clue how to interact with others. i'll draw his previous versions at some point

Good... what ever time of day it is when you see this!
It's been a minute since youve popped up on my dash. Not that you're obligated to post or anything, I just hope that everything is going alright for you lately and to let you know that whatever is happening, I'm rooting for you.
It was bright n early in the morning ☀️
I haven't wanted to post anything original during the strike so as to not pull attention away. I was also really sick for a while there so I haven't had much energy either (getting better tho). Thank you for caring! ❤

The bad news is Jesse isn’t canonically trans. The good news is that if you told the Brbaverse creators that making him trans would piss off the Reddit fanboys they would do it
