my opinion on kids and the child hating discourse is sometimes my nephews and nieces are really loud while im napping and wake me up and it annoys me and they bug me while I'm doing something and want silence and they've broken so many of my things and they come into my room first thing in the morning and children crying in transport on long journeys are annoying but sometimes when I'm in a depressive spiral and don't want to leave my room someone will come in to talk to me and they compliment me when I do the most basic thing in the world because its impressive to them and they dedicate their arts and crafts to me and they'd come into my room because they were thinking of me first thing in the morning and they wanted to say hi and I remember that's the most basic form of love and little kids in the store i work at will light up when you compliment their clothes and are the most excited people in the world when you give them the reciept and also sitting in a cramped plane or bus for hours is uncomfortable and painful and the only reason I don't cry is because I have headphones a book and a sense of shame

the way the ericson group were at the outbreak just a bunch of troubled kids who made various mistakes or committed crimes and were judged by a system that punished and abandoned them instead of giving them the support and love they needed, are then nearly a decade later put into a situation where now they must judge a troubled child for the mistakes and crimes hes committed against them. and 5 to 3 vote them out 😭

I hate that Percy Jackson is considered like THE neurodivergent kid book. I was a hyperlexic kid with severe ADHD and when I picked that shit up, my ten year old brain got one whiff of the writing style and said “absolutely not.” and to this day I never read that shit. It bummed me out though because I loved reading a lot and I wanted to be reading the same things as my classmates. But alas. More classic novels for baby Anna.

starting to become obsessed with saix. i have to be real. like one of the only org members that it seems like really believes in the org. actually takes his job dead seriously. the days manga dynamic of axel specifically having to go toe to toe with saix to protect roxas and xion and their old connection slowly fraying because they can’t understand each other. joins the org AGAIN. VOLUNTARILY. when he gets recombined. has COMMITTED TO THE BIT. goes back on all of this instantly and completely and becomes normal and decides to help axel coparent his two kids immediately after 3 no hesitation. That’s what dying in a man’s arms does for a guy.

This sentiment is due to a combination of things:

Lack of basic reading comprehension skills and an understanding of literary analysis.

The need to be or seem as “edgy” by hating “mainstream” to gain approval from peers.

Proliferation of hate culture that has permeated all spaces across the internet.

“I liked it first/before it was cool” syndrome.

Formerly gifted child syndrome who cling to the idea that liking The Classics™ still makes them smart.

Hipster snobbery phenomenon

Internalized homophobia.

Internalized sexism.

Racism (Patroclus is often depicted with darker skin compared to Achilles).

Toxic narcissism of Academia culture producing the most insufferable and pretentious asses with the frailest egos imaginable.

Ditto for toxicity of The Classics™.

I’m sure you were expecting a thorough literary analysis instead of a rant about how today’s antis don’t understand basic tagging etiquette and how every time I go into the fucking patrochilles tags I gotta deal with fucking antis. But there’s really nothing deep about people foaming at the mouth over a fictional man having *gasp* feelings. It’s internalized cultural bias, babe.

Maybe one day these haters will grow up and realize how cringe it is to make hating something your personality. I almost feel bad for them.
