okay so it all starts in esmp s1 where pearl has such heavy sun imagery and gem literally builds a moon so that one is pretty obvious

and when we get to hc s8 they literally have matching horses with gem's being named sun and pearl's being named moon

admittedly, hc s9 is more vibes based, but eleven seem so much more sunny to me in contrast to pearl's alien themeing where a large majority of it was trapped underground. most people just associate moon with darkness, so bam gem is sun and pearl is moon

now esmp s2 and this one is tricker than the others. in my head they are both the sun which is why they practically never interact. it's like trying to connect magnets by both of their north poles

sl is an outlier to me where they break this pattern of one being the moon and one being the sun imo. some people believe that pearl is the sun and gem is a sunflower, but i like to think pearl is simultaneously the sun and the moon with gem being akin to icarus. here is a very non structured brainrot post

we finally get to hc s10, and immediately we are hit with 'morning sunshine' from gem. she wants me dead. but also, building off of that pearl went for a very peaceful farmhouse as her starter base with farming normally being associated with daylight/the sun. we have a dredge theme from gem which has a daylight cycle in it, and during the night is really when you start getting the horrors. she already has touches of that (floating fish), so following the logic of that game she has been fishing at night and thus moon

the part that gets me the most is how consistent the themeing is and just how close both of them are. most smps have pretty good evidence for gem and pearl being connected to the sun and moon with a few outliers (looking at you nlsmp)

now time for the actual theorizing, like i mentioned in the esmp s2 bit, it's almost like the sun and moon are opposite poles of a magnet. i don't believe they are soulmates, they can live without the other, but when they are in proximity, you bet that they will be inseparable

so they both have been represented by the sun and moon, and i propose that pearl is the embodiment of light, while gem is the embodiment of void. why do i think that? well, pearl's is the easiest to explain with her saint pearla stuff and how her named both have aspects of light in it. pearlescent describes the surface of an object, and both being able to see if something is pearlescent and to see the moon requires light to bounce back into your eyes

now gem as the void, hear me out. her constant connection to the end/endermen/ender dragon. also the connections of gem and traveling across worlds where the thing in-between them is void (see s9 botem ending). with the most solid piece of evidence being hc s10 where her themeing is ocean/water horrors. and the most common reason people fear the ocean is how vast and unknowing it is. like a void

this is great and all, but how does it link back up with sun and moon? they are opposites of each other and their sun and moon themeing is just one way that is expressed alongside light and void. because of how different they are, it makes them more attached to each other. something something opposites attract

I shall try my luck at feeding hcs : -Their go-to place for hanging out and chilling is def a forest

-Gem gives random rocks and crystals she finds to Pearl and Pearl has an entire box of it that she keeps safely

-Adding onto the above hc Pearl has a specific bead kept with her at all times that Gem once found (its a pearlescent red bead) and it also happens to be the first of the rock and crystal collection

-Pearl often picks flowers for Gem and Gem book presses them to preserve it

-Occasionally they will go out at night and moon watch (and dare I say it dance under the moon light-)

-One time around when they just got tgt Gem mentioned her favourite flower ONCE and the next day Pearl shows up with a stack of said favourite flower

-Pearl's favourite flower is either a poppy or a wither rose Im not sure but Gem's favourite flower is def a sunflower

-If they havent seen each other in a while one will go over to the other's base and leave their favourite flower + small note

-The above hc is why they both have a stash of each other's favourite flower in their bases

-One time they had a sleepover tgt and they spent the night putting those stick on jems in each others hair

esmp s1 au/hc, Unrelated to other worlds (except for Gri. dont ask /hj)

Gem, Fwhip & Pearl grew up in the Grimlands castle. Pearl is their half sister that their mother adopted as her own (Countess of the Grimlands), but due to Pearl not having the royal blood she couldnt become countess for the Grimlands (she didnt wanna anyway)

Twins are magic attuned vampires, and Pearl goes to Gilded Helianthia, a struggling farming district of Mythland. Prince Sausage becomes her best friend and they come to a deal to make Gilded Helianthia its own empire. GH prosperes under Pearl! She earns three titles: Fight Queen, Farmer Queen, Savour of Gilded Helianthia.

The twins get sent to Crystal Cliffs Academy due to them being magic attuned, Fwhip doesnt graduate because his body is much weaker than Gem's and he cant handle the mana/stamina to use his magic so he goes back to Grimlands where he becomes count.

Gem graduates and becomes the Grand Wizard; She works on fixing the Academy system with how corrupt it is. (wink)

Grian was taken & raised by watchers before his siblings were born, He met Jimmy in Evo and was later pulled into esmp for a day. Hes the only Grim sibling who can travel worlds (in s1)

He & Pearl are the oldest siblings, Theyre Grim-Moon while the twins are just Grim<3. Pearl introduces herself as Pearlescent Moon, Gri introduces himself as Grian Moon.

Fwhip was always gonna be count of Grimlands due to Gri & Pearl not being of royal blood.

Fwhip & Gemare vampires due to their parents, the Grim siblings just share a mom (Mom -> Vampire, Pearl & Gri's dad -> Avian; Technically Pearl & Gri are half vampire shhh)

I love when Gem full names Pearl. Like when Pearl ran away with Gem’s diamond and she’s running after her with an axe like “Pearl. Pearlescent Moon. Pearlescent Moon you give that back.” Or when Pearl starts pillaring with diamond blocks and Gem’s like “diamond blocks? Pearlescent Moon.” Idk why it’s just very funny to me and I love it

e!False is spying on cubfan in case he’s an assassin. hc!False is spying on e!False because of an unknown history involving memory erasure and the possible unraveling of the fabric of the world.

e!False is paranoid and was afraid of everyone and doesn’t trust their friendliness. did her history with hc!False have any part in causing that paranoia?

hc!False is sure of herself among the hermits and everyone else but very very wary of e!False. she says the empires folks don’t know the “real” e!False. is e!False dangerous or does hc!False not want to have to face her past? erasing someone’s memories isn’t something you do on a whim. what else has she done to e!False? why did she do it?

e!False knows she’s missing chunks of time and barely trusts herself. hc!False is using that to hide her spying base. she’s intentionally making e!False trust herself less. can we trust her to tell the truth about her motives and the threat posed by e!False?

how did we get two falses? does it have anything to do with hc!False’s comment about knowing better than to volunteer for strange chambers? were they split by some kind of experiment gone wrong? was there an attempt at time travel?

if hc!False erased e!False’s memories, was she also the one to send her to empires? she can’t have intentionally sent her To Empires because she said she didn’t think she would be there, but did she just send e!False Away? to an “outer world”? or was that part of something else, maybe whatever split them in the first place

Something about Grian acknowledging Philza’s hc death on his hc world which is set on the last life server makes my brain whirl.

this clip of doc from his warden pet video reminds me of when you scare a cat and they do a burnout on the tile to run away, for a solid 5 seconds they are just a mess of limps skidding and panicked fur on the floor and then boom they are sliding out of the room like you strapped a rocket to their butt. like this;

I can just imagine this giant creepers fur puffing up and him just scrambling up the carpet away from the warden lol
