Lol. I can already imagine Modern AU!Kai being forced to sit through these films thanks to Daiyu while being like: "Why did you even make watch these films?"

"Why are you even making me watch these films?"

"It gets better."

"You said that six scenes ago, too: and guess what?- It didn't."

Daiyu smiled, ever so slightly. She kept her eyes carefully glued to the screen. Her blue tongue flickered in and out.

"Just keep watching."

Kai let out a long, exaggerated groan and sank even further onto the couch- if he sank any more, he'd slip right off the suede. He crossed his arms over his chest, looking for all the world like a child; the movie was so bad, it had reduced the battle-hardened, retired military general to this. A few more scenes passed. Kai groaned again.

"It's bad, Daiyu. It's just bad. Pick another one. Please, it's killing me. You're killing me- or my brain, at least."

Daiyu glanced at him from the corner of her eye. She tried to keep on that facade of serene stoicism, but her smile crept from her face and into her voice:

"Perhaps that's my plan," she said. She watched the screen again. "Perhaps I'm going to make you watch these horrible movies until you go insane, and then I can have you committed and cash in on the insurance."

Kai snorted. "Wasn't that the plot of the last one?"

Daiyu's facade shattered. She threw her head back and groaned. "No, Kai- that's this one. Are you even watching the movie?"

"No! That's the point, Daiyu- I don't want to watch it! You're making me!"

"Hey, you said I could pick the movie tonight."

"And I realize now that that was a stupid decision. I'm never letting you pick another movie ever again. This is it: you've lost all film choice privileges."

Daiyu grinned at him. Her tongue flickered again. "It's my T.V., Fatty."

"And it's hours of both of our lives being wasted."

"You were going to do that, anyway."

Kai glared at her. "Make me get off this couch."

Daiyu jumped up from the loveseat, pillow in hand. "No need," she said calmly, "I'll come to you."

And then she rushed over and started beating him with it. The bull snorted, but didn't resist as it bounced off of him.

"Yes, please," Kai said, "end my suffering- better yet, give me that- I'll smother myself so I don't have to watch the rest of this."

He grinned and made to grab at the pillow, but Daiyu held it out of his reach, smiling down at him mischievously.

"Oh no, you don't! I still need you around to get through the sequel."

Kai feigned horror. "A sequel? They really made a sequel to this? You're joking- now that I have to see."

Daiyu plopped down next to him, picking up the remote.

"Oh, trust me: you have no choice in that."
