To you who sees the world differently

I was about to smoke my cigar at the rooftop of our building when I saw this girl sitting at the edge end of the roof who is playing with her feet as if she is in the water. I hid my cigarette back at my chest pocket then proceed to approach her. "Gabi na ah bat andito ka pa? Studyante ka pa naman mahirap na." The girl who is wearing a students Uniform look at me she then smile it is the brightest yet the most painful smile that I've ever seen.

"Ohh its you Attorney Im glad you are the one who found me." "

She said before looking away. I tried to open my mouth but no words come out from it. Usually kasi bago mag 6:00 lahat ng studyante dapat naka uwi na. But before I can even speak, The words from my mouth suddenly get held when I notice the scars from her wrist. My eyes widens and before I even know it hawak ko na pala ung kamay nya. "Napano yan?" S-sino may gawa nyan sayo?" My voice is shaky from anger and worriedness mahaba ung sleeves ng uniform kaya naman hinatak nya ulit yon pababa para matakpan ung mga galos. "Its none of your bussines Attorney." She said with pain and tiredness on her voice. " It is young lady! my mother is the Principal of this school thats why it is also my responsibility as her son to look after her students and you are one of them so tell me how'd you get those scars!" My voice echoes from the whole building followed by silence that no one dares to break. Realizing what I did umatras ako at umupo sa tabi nya

Napaiyak ako ng napakalakas she reminds me of myself when I was young. Only if I found her sooner maybe I can still stop her from killing her self.

Anime Analysis-Chapter 1: How Aries and it’s ideas can be explored by these anime Characters

Since my last couple of astrology posts got quite a bit of love, I decided to make a thing of it. So the cycle will end with Pisces if everything goes well. I will be focusing on only a couple of characters so that it doesn’t jar the minds of you guys. I hope you’ll like it.

There are few things one needs to remember. I lean towards the Vedic astrology analysis because I feel it is lot more in depth and adds a lot of psychology into it, and it actually gives accurate analysis on how people from the same Zodiacs behave vastly different. That been aside, let’s jump into the main thing:

Aries! what a sign. It is the start of the Zodiac cycle, number 1 Sign and harbinger of the Spring and youth. However in Media and social media Aries is always depicted as headstrong, stubborn and short-tempered time bomb, but it is so much more than that. There are a few fundaments to add: Aries’ rulership is Mars, which also rules Scorpio and gets Exalted in Capricorn. Aries itself is the Exaltation point on sun, and debilitation point of Saturn. It is a Cardinal Sign thus it is not fixed in nature. It is the part of the Dharma Trikona signs: (Fire signs that signifies the true purpose of your life) along with Leo and Sagitarrius.

These particular characters has been chosen by me because they not only break stereotypes of Aries in one way or the other but also reconfirm age-old astrophilosophic theory about someone born under a particular sign. Here I will also provide the Sun and moon sign to compare how they appear and how their minds work.

Handa Seishuu: Barakamon (15th April) (Aries Asc, Sun, Moon Mercury conjunct in Aries) (Double sun influenced, afflicted) (Mars debilitated)

Handa has a very good chart for artistic ability, but there are some added twists to it. Handa has many similarities with the other Aries native Chiyo Sakura (whom I shall discuss later). He is sensitive, critical, self searching on the positive side, and he is irascible and petty on the other side. He has his sun and Moon placed in the Krittika Constellation or The constellation of the Cutter (Pleides). Since Krittika constellation is ruled by the Sun, he is considered doubly influenced with sun. Krittika constellation is the birthplace of Sun and exaltation point of moon (when it is in the Taurus belt) and it usually gives the native exceptional leadership qualities, critical and perfectionist attitude, sharp wit and sarcastic speech, soft heart and thus they become sensitive to the core.

But neither of them are quite associated with Handa now, does it? that is because when Sun and Moon are placed so close to each other in a same Constellation, it is considered Eclipsed in astrology. This means the native would get neither the benefits of Sun nor the Moon. Thus he loses a great deal of the charismatic leadership edge that is considered “alpha” in society. But we also have to remember that this conjunction is placed over the ascendant, which is the safe haven for debilitated or afflicted planets: it does not totally rob the native of the good results of the said planets. Sun is associated with Father, workplace, body, leadership, fame and Moon is associated with Mother, home environment, mind and nurturing: Handa is blessed on both sides. He almost easily transited into the profession his father followed, and he was brought up with least struggle. Both mom and dad protected him from harm and brought up a very sensitive guy who almost never faced any consequences for his naivete. The eclipse can also cause affliction in confidence and disturbance in mind which Handa has throughout his life, but it does not totally rob him of fame. He was famous in his world of calligraphy, he was begrudgingly famous as “sensei” in the island he lived during his exile, and in the Spinoff “Handa-kun” his afflicted mind made him think everyone hates him in the school but in reality he was the most popular boy around. That is the merit of Aries Sun. Another planet which is conjunct is the Mercury which encourages his to experiment from his traditional path and open avenues he never ventured before. Mercury is the significator of intelligece, mutability, children or kids, and this happened when Handa meets and interracts with Naru. Throughout his exile he constantly experiments with the brush strokes and his subject matter regress from grand to mundane, while his technique started to mutate from normal “textbook style” to more experimental.

Aries ascendants have beautiful looks and they are somewhat unaware of their attraction and totally ignorant of any romantic or sexual desires. While making bath, Handa said to the Village chief “I’ll probably die alone”, and in Handa-kun he was blissfully unaware of the crush-brigade he had behind his back. The core of Handa’s character is his senitivity and critical nature. He is never satisfied with his process, even though the others say it is good. The first day when Handa writes in the village, he exhausted himself by overworking but throughout the process he was laughing on his own: his satisfaction is not in the result but in the constant process of effort and perfecting.

However, there is one major flaw in Handa which sets the whole story into motion: his irascibility. he punches a old man in Calligraphy exhibition who criticised his work. It could be Ariesian ego, but it is not. It is a sign of debilitated Mars. Handa has debilitated mars in cancer which makes him lash out without dignity and with very little provocation. This makes him a laughing stock in many situation in both his society and in the village, and he is sometimes seen “assaulted” by the children in the village. He is also seen as petty when he has his lunch with Hiro where he bashes Hiro’s Cucumber-Miso rice, while defending his deplorable Cucumbar-miso rice. Mars is willpower, energy and anger and when it is debilitated it makes one less of a dignified person. This segment I placed at the last because it was one of his core factor that makes Handa the way he is. However since his debilitated Mars is placed in fourth house, it somehow makes him always sheltered in comfortable homes, even in the unlikely of places. The example can be seen in how he was taken care of by the Gotou island villagers with food, company and service.

Sakura Chiyo: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki Kun (March 27) (Virgo Asc, Aries Sun, Pisces Moon) (South Node an Mercury influenced) (Sun Exalted, Mercury debilitated in Pisces, seventh house)

Sakura Chiyo is a great and exceptional example of Aries Sun. I love her: she is sweet, imaginative, and has a lot of positive qualities like believing in people who are unlikely to be believed (Yuzuki for example). Her Sun sign is exalted in Aswini Constellation or The constellation of the Horse. Sun exaltation people are usually courageous, valiant, pure hearted, adventurous and generous. Chiyo is is all of that, but in her own unique way. She had the courage to confess to her crush in the first episode, and she was valiant enough to stay friends with his crush even after he friendzoned her. She appears to be quite shy and blushing frequently, but she asserts herself when she needs. For example, telling Kashima, a far more charismatic and popular person than her, off when she was being a bother during the set painting session. She often tells Nozaki off when he is being weird with his manga character--this is really good writing, because assertiveness need not be cutthroat all the time.

Reason her own self is reflected the way it is represented must be looked with her Ascendant. She is a Virgo ascendant, and Sun is exalted at the 8th house where the typical exaltation perks of sun fades a little (Sun is best exalted in 1st, 5th, 9th and 10th). However, let’s look at her own self. Virgo is a earthy, practical and Mercury ruled Zodiac sign which signifies The Maidenhood. Virgo ascendants tend to be smaller statured (unless some other planets interfere), generally intellectual and a little on the overthinking side. This is very prominent feature of the both Chiyo and Wakamatsu (who is a Virgo Sun). Virgo ascendants are very meticulous in whatever they do, as we remember Nozaki saying to Chiyo “I have had my eyes on you for quite a long time. I figured whoever could color in that poster so cleanly would do a nice job” in beta-ing his manga.

 Her moon is conjunct with mercury, and moon itself is in Revati Constellation, which is the final constellation and maturation point of mercury. Revati constellation is associated with imagination that transcends reality, and it is said many famous musicians like Mozart or Bach had this moon placement. Chiyo is artistic indeed and very much so as we can see her command on sketching classical style shapes and silhouettes. As moon is quite imaginative in this part and in the Seventh house of marriage and romance, it becomes quite imaginative about that idealistic romance part. But here is the added twist: her mercury, which is also the ruler of her Moon constellation becomes debilitated in Pisces. And when it is debilitated in the Seventh house it makes one frustrated about everything associated with the seventh house: romance, partnership etc. And thus, dear Chiyo is so unlucky in Romance that not only she chooses a drab and dull guy, denser than a black hole but also frustrates her in the process because of the gap of reality and imagination.

  Kurapika: Hunter X Hunter (4th April) (Leo Asc, Aries Sun, Moon in Ascendant) (Venus and South Node influenced) (Saturn in Capricorn, Jupiter Exalted in Cancer)

I was quite interested to analyse Kurapika, and I picked the right one here. Kurapika, as everyone knows is an Aries Sun. Kurapika’s Aries sits in the ninth house of Aries, and it is the ruler of the first house: ascendant Leo. Okay, so this is one of the most favorable and auspicious combination for a leader. Because Sun, which signifies Soul, body, bones, leadership, government is sitting in the house of Higher principle, Higher knowledge, father, teachers. Leo ascendants tend to be very regal and grave in appearance because of the ultra masculine Sun is the ruler of Leo. They are also very dutiful, faithful to their friends and deep supporters of justice and the ones that are right. Kurapika was born to be a leader and although he doesn’t become a “leader” of that sort, but we can agree that he is not someone you can trifle and get away with. 

So, if he is born in ultra male Sun influence then why the hell is he not so stereotypically masculine? So here is the answer. He is born in the Varani constellation or the Constellation of the Bearer, which is Venus influenced. Varani is the second constellation in the celestial cabinet and it falls in the middle part of Aries. That is one part: the other part is his moon sign. Since his moon sits in the ascendant it brings some feminine qualities which is unlike the Sun ruled ascendant of Leo. Thus here the native is graced with a thin, pale body and with an anxious vigilant disposition. They are often distrustful of others and have hard time opening up. To note, Kurapika’s moon sign falls in Magha constellation, or the Constellation of the Luck which is a South Node ruled constellation. As South node denotes detachment, renunciation and distrust it brings a sort of cold detachment in his character. 

Both of Kurapika’s Sun and Moon signs are incredibly strong. Bharani is one of the most violent energies in existance but as it’s symbol is a Vagina, the violence is internalised. These people tend to internalise positive and negetive emotions with great intensity. When Kurapika lost the entire Kurta clan by the Spiders, he internalised his pain so greatly that his life motto became to take revenge on the Spiders. Interesting thing to note, his Bharani Sun which sits in the ninth house is the house of Higher Philosophy, which can also signify one’s greater purpose in life. The energy of Bharani is especially corrosive because of its associated deity: The God of Death, and Death he inflicts upon Pakunoda and Uvogin, two of the spiders involved in the Kurta Genocide.

He has another interesting combination: His sixth house Capricorn has Saturn (in Saturn’s own house), and in his twelfth house Jupiter is Exalted. So the benefic planet of expansion and comfort directly aspects the malefic planet limitation and hardship. Saturn in the sixth house of enemies, diseases and debts, mixed with Capricorn’s energy of hard work and patience makes Kurapika one of the potently powerful people in Hunter X Hunter, even if he isn’t at par with many of them. Here Saturn gives such sufferings and pain that it gets unbearable, but at the end one shall succeed if one keeps going on. Saturn is directly aspected by Jupiter from the 12th house of isolation, liberation of soul. This is meaningful indeed! Jupiter in 12th house indicated the leaving of home or leaving your comfort zones behind for the sake of your own liberation. Jupiter indeed gives liberation of the soul in this position but it also indicates the act of giving liberation from injustice, since it is aspected by the Planet of Time and Justice: Saturn. When they look at each other it creates an extremely balanced, controlled and equally industrious person who has his energy of conviction and justice on his side and he will execute it at any cost, for the greater good.

It may be far fetched but I also think of Saturn-Jupiter axis in Kurapika;’s chart when I see his chains. Saturn as the planet of limitation represents many things: isolation, chains, and as metal (in Vedic astrology): iron. Where as Jupiter tends to expand. Chains expand to any length by Kurapika’s command, which again juxtaposes this completely paradoxical combination.  

Erina Nakiri: Shokugeki no Souma (March 23) (Taurus Asc, Aries Sun, Gemini Moon) (South Node and North Node Influenced) (Saturn and Venus in Ascendant, Sun Exalted)

Erina is depicted as a perfectionist, royalty of the Culinary world in Shokugeki no Soma. she is called the “God Tongue” who enjoys haute cuisine on a daily basis. Here’s what I think when I look at her chart: Ice princess with a heart of fire. First of all, Not the whole of Aries is considered Exaltation point for Sun, it is deeply exalted from 0-3 degrees in the first third of Aries, which consists of the Aswini Constellation or the Constellation of the Horse. These people usually tend to be naturally charismatic, pleasant to be around and unquestionable leaders: no harshness at all, because they are so self secure they don’t need to prove themselves. But that is more Satoshi Isshiki rather than Erina Nakiri isn’t it? Erina does have a penchant to prove herself so desperately. Why is that? you’ll only need to look at her ascendant.

Her ascendant is Taurus, a Venus ruled Zodiac. It is an earthy, stable, materialistic sign that loves every thing artistic, luxurious and perfect. Erina is all about that and more. Her Ascendant has one of the most powerful conjunction of all time: Venus and Saturn. Where Saturn feels quite uncomfortable being in the ascendant, it feels less uncomfortable because it’s sitting with Venus, it’s friend. The ascendant is all about the Body, personality and how other people see you. Saturn in the ascendant brings anxiety, fear and rigidness in the personality that does not appreciate breaking rules, because Saturn gets debilitated in the first house, the natural house of Aries, the debilitated Saturn brings inflated ego, and when it’s hurt, it will seek for blood. Thus Erina in times is quite the rigid little thing, and she maintained strong rivalry with Soma, just because he had “offended” her. Venus on the other hand is a soft, sensuous planet, and although it is rather comfortable in 7th house, (house of people, marriage, bonds) it does great in the first house, because in first house it brings Beauty, exceptional, awe-inspiring beauty. combined with Saturnian rigidity, it brings the textbook definition of ice princess.

Let’s see how Erina’s mind thinks? Her moon sits in Gemini an airy intellectual sign which can sometimes be problematic for moon, which is a watery and emotional planet. Her moon sits in Ardra Constellation or the Constellation of Moisture. The ruler of this Constellation is the North Node, which signifies ambition, greed, illusion, inflation of ego. Erina gets her ego hurt quite often, which should not be a trait of someone who has her sun Exalted, but it is. Because this constellation, which has all the positive qualities of ambition and achieving material things, it also gives a fragile ego as well. The symbol of this constellation is a teardrop, which is also a symbol of suffering. This includes that the mind must have undergone suffering. If this point of view is seen with the Saturn in the ascendant (the signifactor of suffering, hardship and hard work), Erina did suffer in her early life in the hands of her extremist father who wanted her daughter to be the best in the culinary world. It is interesting to see that her sun sits in the 12th house (house of imagination, isolation, jail, and liberation) and she was isolated from the world, by her father! Erina underwent suffering in a manner which is very North-Node like: she was brainwashed and gaslighted continuously. The North node which is the signficator of illusions and madness casted shadow in the her earlier life through the mental abuses of her father, and her Saturnian ascendant internalised it as her ultimate reality.

She remains festuring in this fear until the very end when Rivals rebelled against the new order of her Father’s making. As a part of the rebell team herself, she pushed herself and her team to not only win, but also break free from her own fear. This is where her exalted sun comes in play. Sun, which is the natural significator of soul is sitting in the 12th house of liberation of the soul. Here Sun allows the person to liberate herself from the ties of the mortal world, here the terrible past and the Saturnian fear of her father. Coincidentally enough, Sun is also the significator of father as well. It solidifies the theme that the cause of her fear (the father), is also the key to her liberation. She used her 12th house energy of imagination and liberation to battle her 12th house of isolation, which is fascinating.

I always tell my friends that they’re capable of anything they put their mind into. But, personally, I should know my limits and act accordingly. And considering how INCREDIBLY long it took me to finish this piece for such a poor result (despite the fact that I was just trying to replicate official art, so I had all the help in the world), well, I would say this was my limit. But, hey, you’ll never know until you try, and all practice is good practice.

That aside, hello! For today’s post, I decided to revisit the concept I started this blog with and work on a bigger illustration. It’s probably my least popular kind of post, but trying to mimic KH’s artstyle is kind of a blast regardless of the result or the struggle.

With Max’s and Kageno’s out of the way, it was about time I worked on Handa’s, since, you know, he’s my favourite character and all. I can be biased here, right?

So, it might be a good time to talk about HanRoku’s reasons to be.

Well, well, well. This is coming at the beginning of April when my last post was on January, and even that was just to celebrate the fact that, somehow, over a hundred people have decided to follow this blog. I’m not even going to pretend I’m way too busy to work on stuff--it’s just been a fantastic combination of things that made me want to... stop. I hit a big wall where the ideas I had were being a tad too difficult to pull off in a satisfying way (I swear to God, Kidou, your hair is impossible to work with), and I was either not in the mood to do anything or more focused on other and, at the time, more fun endeavours. I was super passionate about my graduation thesis, for example--and that went rather well, thankfully.

But, boy, I loved Kingdom Hearts 3. No bad mood or task was going to keep me from sinking hours into that game somewhat regularly. Playing it filled me with immense joy, and seeing Roxas again after so long brought me to tears. It made me think a lot about finally finishing (or trying to finish) this big piece... and it caught me very rusty, which led to hours, hours, hours, HOURS of work for what I have already described as a disappointing result. I mean, it’s not the worst I have ever drawn, but... well. It could definitely be much better, and I’m rather tempted to rework it in the future. I hadn’t touched my tablet in ages and it shows. Nor my pencils. Just my brushes, but that was just to paint doggos and Life Is Strange-inspired landscapes.

And the best part is that the illustration ISN’T EVEN COMPLETE because the rest would actually be a spoiler for a fic of mine called Zero. If you check the official art I linked above, you’ll see that what my illustration shows as a black area is actually filled by a completely separate illustration. I know what I want there, but, as I said, it’d spoil the story, so, yeah. Talk about a work in progress. I hope I can finish it all one day...

Anyway, enough pointless ranting! Thanks for putting up with me. To reward someone who has made it this far without getting tired of me, I’m giving away a Steam copy of Batman: Arkham Origins, along with all of its DLC. The first to ask for it will get it. And, please, don’t follow me for future giveaways--I doubt there will be any. Now, let’s talk about HanRoku. That’s what you clicked on that "read more" button for.

The beginnings of HanRoku are ancient at this point. We’re talking 2012 or 2013, and that’s INSANE. For how long have I been struggling with this project?! Goodness gracious. Anyway, at the time, Chrono Stone was hitting all of the right notes for me. Time travel? Check. People that transform to become more powerful? Check. Fusions, because I've watched too much DBZ for me to not love that? Check. And one day, for reasons that have been lost to time, but probably have a lot to do with the aforementioned fic, I realised something. Zero was supposed to be a story about how Roxas mingles with Someoka, Handa, Aki and mostly Endou, but then it hit me: Roxas and Handa are actually... extremely similar.

To those who have never played Kingdom Hearts, PLEASE GO PLAY KINGDOM HEARTS. And to those who couldn’t care less about what I recommend them to do, KH is a story that, under a deceiving cover full of Disney characters and confusing plot points, makes a deep and rather interesting point about what the true nature of the soul is--even if they insist on calling it “heart” instead. What is a soul? What is it for? Who, or what, has a soul--and why? Is the soul linked to the mind or to the body? Is it even possible to have a body and not have a soul? Is the soul something you’re born with or something you can/must acquire over time? What makes it grow, and what is true strength of soul? You know, for a game where you hit cute Hot Topic monsters with an oversized key, that’s pretty darn cool.

I talked more about this way back when, but I’ll give you a brief summary of the main reason why Handa and Roxas are such a perfect match: they are both people looking for their place in a world that actively acts against their very existence. They have no purpose and are simply tools for other people to shine and/or achieve their goals. That is obviously not a good, fulfilling life.

But, well, after all these years of ruminating and thinking (and crying) about HanRoku, there has to be a bit more to it than just that, right?

Obviously (and even more obviously after Kingdom Hearts 3), Roxas is very strong. Very strong. What he lacks in existence, he makes up for in raw power. For someone like Handa, who is so overlooked due to being okay at everything but not great at anything, this is massive. Even if Roxas doesn’t make him stellar at everything, he doesn’t need to. He still gives Handa enough power to become an extremely invaluable asset in the field and a force to be reckoned with--especially early on, since Handa is the first original Raimon player to get a miximax and all. I’ll talk more about HanRoku’s powers in the future.

But the usefulness in the field is only the first part, and even that is debatable due to the post I linked to earlier and the fact that, well, he sure will be special and super strong when no one else can mixitrans, but he won’t be once the whole team can do so. I mean, let’s count: Endou, Gouenji, Someoka, Max, Kageno, Megane, Tamano... That’s 7 people, when there are only 11 players on the field at a time. Handa would only be at an advantage over 3 people. (And if you’re going to tell me that he’s still the only midfielder with a miximax, thus making him special on his own, that’s a perfectly valid point and you should congratulate yourself for having such a keen eye.)

What really shines about HanRoku, though, is how mutually symbiotic their relationship is. Even if their struggles are so similar at heart, the reasons why those struggles exist are not.

Handa’s problems come from not being good enough at anything to be really... indispensable. Sure, he can do pretty much any job at any given point and be adequate enough at it, but he’s never the first option. He has no place of his own in the team; not one thing only he is capable of doing. And that leads to all kinds of problems of self-worth and trying to find a purpose. He will leave Raimon and no one will remember he was even there.

Roxas is completely essential to Organization XIII, but he’s been reduced to a killing machine that they are trying to replace with a better and more obedient one, thus taking away from him the only reason to be he ever knew and making him question his very existence. Once Org XIII disposes of him, no one will miss him--and that’s made even worse by a certain plot point: Nobodies disappear from the memory of everyone who ever met them once they are defeated/killed.

Of course, Roxas would help Handa immensely, as stated earlier. That’s kind of the point of this whole ordeal. But here’s the catch: Handa would help Roxas too. By leaving a part of himself inside Handa (that sounds extremely wrong, but please bear with me), he knows he will never be truly forgotten no matter what happens to him, and his life will ultimately have a purpose: to help a friend in need find his own worth. But let’s not forget that Roxas has only been alive for less than a year, while Handa has been struggling with his demons for over a decade without ever giving up. Despite having the world against him (or, at the very least, definitely not on his side), Handa is still going at it, trying his best, fighting for what he believes in, dealing courageously with the fact that he’s just an ordinary boy in a world of amazing people in order to help them achieve their ultimate goals. At a time when Roxas felt like his existence was worthless, meeting Handa, a boy who challenges his own self to find an identity that may not even exist, is truly inspiring. His selflessness, his love towards his friends and his neverending efforts to be better give Roxas a reason to stand up to the norm and fight for what he believes is right: in this case, to save his few and treasured friends.

Handa and Roxas find in each other a mirror that, for the first time in their lives, shows them in a new light that gives them hope for the future. They learn from each other, complement each other, improve each other, inspire each other, share a deep bond of friendship and trust, feel stronger and braver when they are together, and make a fantastic team. A team of throwaways, a team of tools, a team made of convenient replacements that will one day become obsolete. But a team that, however, is much greater than the sum of its overlooked parts, and will achieve incredible things when they eventually figure out just how unique and special they both are.

Talking about HanRoku makes me very emotional and it’s difficult to convey my feelings about them when I’m choking on my own tears, but I hope you can all understand why I love these two so very much. And if you can’t... well, feel free to ask me any questions you may have! I’d love to find new ways to describe why these two are so precious to me.

Musta? How's your wife? How's Andrei? I know you are happy. And that's good. I wanted no more than happiness for you. In that short span of time, I learned to love in the most genuine way. We never did meet our baby, but our angel will always be our connection somehow. What we had, it was pure and true. Tagal kong inisolate sarili ko. Nagshutdown ako. I never wanted new relationships in my life. I chose solitude. I was getting used to being alone. Then eventually, I took the first step to being ok. I decided to forgive myself. I stopped blaming myself. I stopped questioning myself. And I thought I was ok.

Nung feeling ko ok na ako, I seemed to see people that were already there na pala, pero di ko pinapansin. I seemed to notice new people coming. Then, I met Kian. He seemed sincere enough to get me back on that relationship game. Guess what, yung iniyak ko ng 2months sa pagkawala niyo ni baby, walang wala pa sa kalingkingan ng iyak ko kay Kian. Kungbaga, isang butil lang yung sayo, sakanya eh isang sako. 70% pain, 30% happy.

You know what I've realized right now. Yung 70% pain na yun, probably 60% pa nun is kasalanan ko, 40% lang yung sakanya. He has flaws, flaws that I can deal with sana if hindi nangyari sakin yung sa atin. Do you know what I mean? How I deal with his flaws, ultimately is because of you. Matagal ko ng alam na may trust issues ako, and I've told Kian that. Tinanggap niya past ko, past natin. So akala ko ok na. Pero hindi pala. I should have not entered into a relationship without my trust fully repaired. Pero panu kaya yun, forever ng may issue ang trust ko. Akala ko, yung first step na deciding you are ok na, is enough to be ok. Literal, first step palang yun. Ang layo ko pa pala bago maging ok. Hindi ko alam kung ilang steps pa. Pero sure, hirap ako magtiwala ngayon. Sa sarili, sa ibang tao, kay Kian, sa kaibigan, sa lahat.

Pangalawang realization. Remember all that bottled up love that I was suppose to give you. Para sayo yun eh. Napakalungkot na sa ibang tao napunta. Kay Kian napunta. Alam mo bang sobrang opposite kayo ni Kian. So yung love ko na para sa isang Kenneth, ang sumalo, ang tumanggap ay ang kabaliktaran ni Kenneth. The way I was suppose to love you, is still HOW I love Kian, and it does not seem to jive. Hindi ko alam kung nasasayang ba yung love ko or what. Mainim nalang ata na it goes down the drain than it falls into the wrong hand.

Sobrang miss kita. I miss yung feeling ng kung pano mo ako mahalin. But, time will never return. So I am letting things be.

Don't get me wrong. Sobra kong mahal si Kian. Pero nalulungkot ako na umaabot ako sa punto na pinagiisipan ko kung worth it pa ba. Kung dapat ko padin ipaglaban to. Kung dalawa pa ba kaming nakakapit. Kung partners parin ba naming hinaharap yung hamon.

Honoring God in the Area of our Finances

We know that we should honor God in all areas of our lives, and that includes the area of our wallets! :D Since we are currently experiencing this pandemic and are facing uncertainty not just in the area of our health, but also in our finances because of closed businesses, I have pondered upon the huge importance of building a healthy spending habits, having an emergency fund, and also the importance of our continuous growth in compassion for others.

So how do we become a good steward and how can we honor God in the area of our finances? Here are some of the ways I know how:

1. Through tithing!

Tithing isn’t giving God a portion of our money because He needs it or because He’s just power-tripping. Tithing is an act of faith, trusting that God will provide and will bless the works of our hands. It is also a declaration that God is supreme in our lives, that nothing is ours and every blessing and good things come from Him. There are many Bible verses about tithing but here’s my personal favorite hehe it’s found in Malachi 3:8 to 12 and it says:

8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.

2. Through saving

There are different kinds of savings. We save for emergency, for a dream home or travel, for sending a loved one at school, etc. I struggle in this area to be honest, it’s not easy to save when there are many distractions AKA Shopee and green tea latte. Joke. Hahaha! One of the things that encourages me to save is the thought that when the time comes that a family member or a loved one will be needing help or support, we’ll at least have something to share to lessen their burden, even if it’s just a small amount. Another reason is of course, so that we’ll have something to spend in times of emergency and that we won’t have to burden others.

We have to understand that God doesn’t want us to poorly manage our finances by being impulsive buyers because He knows it’s not gonna end up well for us. God’s commandment for us to save isn’t meant to limit us or to be a KJ, but it is actually meant to protect us from the consequences of wrong decisions and unhealthy buying habits.

Proverbs 6:6-8 Go to the ant, you sluggard;  consider its ways and be wise!  It has no commander, no overseer or ruler,yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.

Proverbs 21:20 The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.

Let’s do our best to manage whatever is inside the circle of our control. For the rest, those that are beyond our control, let’s leave it in God’s department. :)

3. Avoid borrowing money for unnecessary things

I have a friend who works abroad, her sister asked for a certain amount of money to spend for her child’s christening party. My friend was furious because her sister just asked for money days or weeks ago to pay for her credit card bills. Her sister has a family of her own already. Sadly, this is the case for most OFWs, some of their families think that they have a lot of money abroad because they are earning dollars, without thinking about their struggles living and working in a foreign country. Thinking that you can always ask and get others hard-earned money is a dangerous mindset. Aside from you’re giving unnecessary burden to that person, you are also creating problems for yourself that you’ll deal sooner or later when you don’t learn to live within your means.

If there is a special occasion, I agree that it should be celebrated, but we also have to be reminded of the reality that no one is requiring us to celebrate lavishly. Buy an affordable cake and make a pasta good for 2 to 10 relatives or friends. We don’t have to invite an entire barangay, wala silang pinatagong pera satin kaya we don’t owe them our handa. Haha.

“Minsan lang, para naman sa bata.”

Okay, really, para sa bata or para sa parents?

It’s not bad to celebrate para may memories din si bagets, but work on spending within what we can afford lang. If you can afford to throw a grand birthday party without increasing your debt or borrowing someone else’s hard-earned money, then go ahead. We have to live within our means to avoid unnecessary debts and be practical, especially if it means being debt-free and being able to manage God’s blessings well. And it’s a good life lesson for your child too. At an early age, they’ll know how to live within their means, to manage their hard-earned money well, to not be controlled by money and greed, and they won’t end up inheriting debts.

“Eh paano yung nagkautang ng malaki kasi may nagkasakit or nahospital? Yung mga magsasaka na napipilitang mabaon sa utang kasi inooppress ng mga elitista? Kasalanan ba nila na di sila debt-free??”

Obviously, hindi applicable dyan yung example nung gastos sa binyag so let’s not take it out of context. First, we have to understand that the encouragement to be debt-free is for everyone who can do something to avoid borrowing money. This is meant to make us ponder and reassess our spending habits first before looking on someone else’s financial situation.

Second, later on I will also talk about helping people in need. :)

Anyway, my husband and I agreed to make our anniversary celebrations simple and not too expensive (on most times lang, not always, kasi baka pag naka 1 decade yung marriage namin magpa-Jollibee kami. Hahaha chour) Wanting celebrations to be low-maintenance doesn’t mean we don’t value milestones. Anniversaries and birthdays are in fact very important to me, I make sure to celebrate them with loved ones and to really make time for them.

My husband and I have a tradition of eating at Cafe Breton on our anniversaries hehe we would order our usual (spag bolognese for him, egg casserole for me, nutella crepe and banofee smoothie for the both of us) and we’ll just talk anything under the sun. (Namiss namin ito this year because of lockdown haha) Our MUST topics: things we appreciate most about each other, this motivates us and make us feel kilig and valued. Haha! After sharing the things we appreciate about each other, we now exchange feedback and suggestions on how we can improve as a wife and husband. Over the years, humbling ourselves and admitting that we have bad traits and unhealthy habits, and by being filled with the Holy Spirit make us a better spouse to each other. :) Overall, we like celebrations to be simple and intimate so that the bond, the gratefulness for life and relationships will be the greatest highlight of the day. <3

And just to clarify, I know that there are loans that some of us has to necessarily make, like for education or for businesses. What I’m trying to say is, if we are to borrow money, I hope it’s not because of over-spending and living above our means.

Again, to be debt-free from unnecessary stuff is a personal responsibility. It’s not easy, given that we cannot control all circumstances. That’s why we need God, His mercy, provision and deliverance. We really have to be intentional in our prayer lives. :)

4. Invest or get an insurance with VUL

For a third world country like ours, insurance isn’t as widely welcomed here and not treated as normal as others do in the first world countries. So for my fellow countrymen haha if you have the extra budget to get one, please do so. I hope that you’ll include this in your prayer and long-term goal, and consider even if the coverage is not that huge. At least meron kasi it’ll be a huge help esp if you’re the breadwinner in the family, and you’ll know that you’ll have additional budget when you retire and stop working. :) God will also be pleased to see if you’ll do something that will let your money (His blessings) grow through stock market. :)❤️

You may also want to read Matthew 25:14 to 30 to better understand God’s heart when it comes to stewardship. It’s a parable about servants and their master who entrusted his wealth to them. :)

5. Share your blessings!

As I come to know God more and learn more about His will and grace, a heart for others became something more natural to me.

So when it comes to having a heart for others, I have learned that loving through encouragements and through words isn’t always enough, we also have to show our love through actions. As what is written in James 2:14 to 17 say:

4 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Helping others is a form of honoring God’s commandments and it pleases Him too!

Proverbs 19:17 says: Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deeds.

Hebrews 13:16, Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

I know when we are in a tight budget, it can be really hard to share what we have. But even it might be something small for you, if you give it with sincerity, trust that God knows and sees our hearts. No amount is too small if binigay sincerely :) And money isn’t the only way to help others! We can help through our efforts. If we know someone who is struggling to be debt-free, to provide or to save, we can help through helping them monitor and assess their expenses (of course with their consent ha, wag mo silang pilitin sa financial planning please lang, you have to give them respect guys. Advice with care. Sa kahit anong klase ng advice pa yan. May iba kasi, pag di tinanggap yung advice or help galet na galet ustu manaket. Hahaha. Let them make their own decisions, basta ikaw nag offer ka ng help, nasa sakanila na yun if tatanggapin nila. Wag sasama loob natin. Pagpray nalang natin sila na mag make ng good decisions. Hehe.). Anyway, as for me, I personally keep an excel file with formulas, I monitor expenses and budget my money there. And we can also help by looking and suggesting for scholarship programs so we can help them or their children finish their studies. We can also suggest part-time jobs or businesses and assist them in the beginning process of applying for jobs or putting up their small enterprise, etc.

Again friends, I hope that we wouldn’t only love in words, in our tweets or Facebook posts/shares, but also in deeds. :)

Since we can’t go out due to lockdown, and we see shortage in PPEs and the uncertainty in businesses and jobs, my husband and I are silently giving humble donations to our front-liners and relatives. Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not sharing this because we’re seeking public approval or compliment from friends (if we do, you’ll know bec you would see photos posted in our socmed accounts and not in my low-key tumblr page haha) I personally, and honestly cringe at the thought of being proud of what we were able to give, kasi di naman kalakihan haha and more importantly hindi naman samin galing yun! All the glory and credit is to God alone.

And the reason why I’m sharing this is to encourage you guys that even for average earners like us, it is possible for God to use us as a channel of blessings to those who are in need. Even the heart to give is from Him! Our giving is only possible by His grace. That is why we don’t sincerely seek or expect praise from people, because we know deep in our hearts that everything, from our jobs to our health and strength to work and earn is from Him. We have nothing to boast or anything to be proud of.

And for others who posts or posted photos of them helping, that’s good too! Pwedeng active lang talaga sila sa socmed and they’re just sincerely happy to be able to help. We don’t know their motives, only God knows what’s inside our hearts so wag tayo judgemental sa kanila okay?

Also, a friendly reminder to ask for God’s wisdom as we give help to others. Why? Minsan kasi akala natin nakakatulong tayo but ang hindi natin alam, tinuturuan na pala natin sila ng mali or hinihelp natin sila to get away from the consequences of their wrong decisions, if ganun next time, di sila matututo and di sila magiimprove. If we truly love them, we wouldn’t want to see them create bigger problems in the future. We’d love to see them flourish and become the better versions of themselves. And most of the time, facing the consequences of our wrong decisions allows us to learn from our mistakes and win the situation next time. Sabi nga ni Lord, true love is wanting and seeking the highest good in that person. Lagi natin need ng discernment pag tutulong din tayo kasi it’s also a major decision, and all decisions should be prayed for kasi si Lord lang talaga nakakaalam ng motives ng tao.

6. Have and keep an eternal perspective

I talked about finances not because I want us to live for money and make it an idol, but to be good stewards of God’s blessings while we are here on earth. We know that money doesn’t necessarily mean evil, but when we love and pay too much attention on material things, it’ll eventually destroy our future, and Satan can use it to deceive us and lose our eyes on God and His truth. Remember that our only and greatest treasure is Jesus and our relationship with Him. He is our only way to heaven, so I hope that we do not lose our sight on our Savior. :)

As what Jack Wellman said,

“If you want to help others, tell someone you know that isn’t yet saved that they need to repent and be saved.  The most generous thing we can do is risk being hated, despised, persecuted, and thought of as narrow minded by telling them that they face the wrath of God unless they repent of their sins, confess them to God and then put their trust in Christ.  That is the most loving thing that you could ever do for someone.  There is nothing in this life which could help someone than share the gospel with them in the hopes that they might be saved.  The gift of grace and eternal life is the greatest gift there is.  Why not share it. It’s too priceless to keep to yourself, isn’t it? “

So! Let us not forget to share Jesus and His grace, so we can one day get to heaven and enjoy His presence and each other’s eternally. :)

I pray that we will all be a better steward of God’s finances each day/month or year. Hehe. And I wish to remind us all that it’s okay and normal to stumble sometimes and to commit mistakes, let’s strive to progress but let us not be too critical on ourselves. What’s important is we depend our strength and source of wisdom to God, to run to Him always and that we would grow and improve together until He calls us home. :)

The anime is the fluffiest thing, so please just watch that. J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.) Bnha, which is why I started reading it. And Voltron.... I'll watch that soon, too. K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc? Uhm... Well that's a hard one. I absolutely love the subtle and endearing development in Oreki (hyouka) and Haruhi in Ouran, but my favourite has to go to Tsukki for how well-built it was!! Furudate-sensei, I bow im front of you. Also, honrable mention to Karma in Assassination Clasroom. L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.) I don't especially love oikawa. I admire him a tone, and I have a lot of his quotes forever saved in my phone, and I think he's the best setter of them all (I'm sorry, he has more experience and tehnique than Kags or Asaaahi, tho I agree that they'll become better than him in one year's time). So there: I aknowledge his amazingness altough he isn't my fave. M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend. Edward. I want to spend a full day with him and learn how alchemy works (and we'd complain together about how short we are). Also, Haruhi: I feel like she'd give the best advice when I'd need it. N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice). My faveourite fandom is FMA: everyone gets love and attention, and there's little to no hate. What I'd like for it is to make it alive again! I mean, there are events and the such, but the manga finished almost 10 years ago, guys! I hope the new live action will bring us back alive. O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of? Hmm... Well On my Own by Ashes Remain was the first one that popped into my head and it kind of reminds me pf Natsu. He's that character that would always smile, but he's always surpressing his feeling ('I've been stuck in a cage with my doubt/I tried forever getting out on my own') P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas). Random AU...? Honestly, I'm not the biggest AU fan, but if I had to, I'd choose 'we've been stuck in a traffic jam for two hours and we're bored, let's play cards; hey wait Gray, you're cheeting; no way I'm not!; mira, doing cutesy things won't help you win... Laxus don't give in!!; if Laxus is allied with Mira so is the thunder legion! Then I'm starting one on my own! Erza, I'll join... Great, now we have Wendy on Erza's side... All dragon slayers together! And exceeds! Wait lucy, starting a female club isn't gonna help ya! ...guys? That's not how you play pocker!' AU. Okay, I may like this one in particular. Maybe I'll write it:) Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why. I've abandoned the HP fandom. I still like the books, but I kinda grew out of it...? (And into anime😇) R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom? Uhm... In which one? If I'm going with FT, my favourite friendship is GrayLu. In FMA, it's a tie... I love Roy/Hughes brotp and Al/Ed brotp. In Haikyuu... Damn they're too many to choose! But I'd say the Karasuno third years: they have such a tight-knit bond!! And in AssClass it would be Karma/Okuda (it's canon in my mind but friendship in the manga). I just love how easygoing they are. Also, I love Karma/Nagisa in the second half. S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged) Hmm... There are many. My fetish is seeing people sleep: I think you can tell alot about their inner selfes from the position they use when sleeping and from their habits, because they can't control or put up a façade when it comes to that. So my headcanon is that despite being loud and obnoxious, Natsu actually occupies less space than Lucy when sleeping: he takes a baby-posture, while she lashes all over the bed, sometimes punching him im sleep unintentionately. Natsu learnt to deal with it: he actually likes holding Lucy close to make sure she's safe while sleeping. She doesn't mind, especially not during winter. Oh and they also cuddle with a cup of hot coffee in their hands during the morning. Just an after-thought~~ T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending? I do! I don't care if you agree or not, but Karma can be sweet, okay? Like he can actually be a good boyfriend (tho maybe a bit possessive). He's the best at telling what's on Okuda's mind and he always buys her toffee when she's feeling down. Oh and also, Riza is a very good mother, always putting her family first. Just letting you know. U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites. Yes!! 1)Karma-assassination classroom. He's that one character that believes he's the best, only to get proven that he can be wrong. What's evenbegter is how he has room to develop and grow to be a better person... Plus, it seems I have a thing for evil goofballs. 2)This is a hard one, but Ed/Roy-Fullmetal Alchemist. I abso-freaking-lutely love all the characters in FMA, but these two attracted my attention. Ed because of how he thinks, how he wants to do good deeds in spite of his thorny exterior and how he miserably fails. I love the way he admits his failures and the way he deals with them can be childish (he's 14, for God's sake!) but he learns from them. Also, Roy because even though he went through Ishval, he still dreams of making the world a better place. I can respect a man who doesn't step over the ethics just to achieve that dream and who always bends and avoides hurting others, while never giving up. Maybe it's a dream, but I very much resonate with it. 3) Lucy from FT. She's the one character in Fairy Tail that has enough of a backstory and is weak enough to evolve. Moreover, she's not your typical girl: yes, she cares about how she looks, because she IS an woman, but she also cares about what's on the inside. She cares about her friends more than anything and even without being the strongest mage, still puts herself in danger for them. I love her resolve and her cute side, too. V - Which character do you relate to most? Hmm... Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran Highschool Host Club. Haruhi is the type to do things on her own and she repells the help of others to do her thing, which I also tend to do. Also, she shoulders a lot of her worries by herself. Plus, she never judges people on appearance and doesn't care about her own (being a girl, that's rare and helps me relate all the more). I just love her😍 (and sometimes am compared to her by my friends). W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom. Whiny female protagonist. I'm not a feminist or anything, but I've had enough of that! Yes, we all want a prince charming, but we can carry ourselves, thank you very much. X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom. Someone pursuing their dreams. Also, I love genre deconstructions (browny points if it's comedic). Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)? Voltron and Yuri on Ice (I feel like I've watched this shows even though I haven't). Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! (Prompts optional but encouraged.) Don't tempt me, I will! ( I kinda have this whole post tho) Okay so I'll rant about FMA because I feel it doesn't get all he love it deserves!!! (And because I refrained from fangirling on it up to now) And since we're talking FMA, let's talk Roy Mustang (you knew this would come). Roy is just one of those very strong people that are actually just goofballs on the interior and need love. Seriously, let's take a look at what this guy went through, ok? He's an orphan, but he never complains and learnt to love his cousins (sisters) and aunt (mom). He was taught by a pretty crazy (very talented, but Hawkeye did have a screw loose for inscripting a tatoo on Riza's back and you can't convince me otherwise) alchemist, and yet he managed to become the next flame alchemy. Despite being told not to, he joined the military with a childish dream and even after learning of the harsh reality in the Ishval war, he still went on believing that he can make the country a better place. Yet he's not perfect: he can lose his temper when it comes to those he loves (Mustang being killed) and he doesn't want any more people to die. He cheerisbes his team and wants to keep them all safe. He can be a cheapskate and also a bit of an annoying guy with Ed, and he can be obnoxious, yet funny as hell (tiny miniskirts!!!) Above all, Mustang feels HUMAN! Yes, he puts up a great act, but it's an *act*. He has a more sensitive side and you better not mess with it, or he'll burn you to ashes. This concludes the short version of my Roy Mustang appeciation post. Also, I have some headcanons about him being best dad (and his child being a daddy's girl/boy because of it) and of being a pretty intimidating Führer. PAANO BA MAG-MOVE ON? | March 7, 2017

I don’t know why they call it a “BROKEN HEART” when every pieces inside of me feels like broken too.

Naranasan nyo na ba? Yung pakiramdam na sobrang sakit? Tipong gusto mong dukutin yung puso mo sa dibdib mo ng 5 seconds? Para kahit sa loob ng 5 seconds ng buhay mo hindi mo maramdaman yung sakit. Yung hindi ka makahinga at ayaw tumigil nung iyak mo sa pagpatak? Yung pipilitin mong magpaka-busy para di mo maisip yung sakit pero pagtigil mo sa ginagawa mo mas nadodoble lang yung sakit? Tipong gusto mo magtatakbo palayo sa mundo, magtago sa masakit na katotohanan pero sa huli mare-realize mo na kahit gaano kalayo yung takbuhin mo dala dala mo parin yung puso mo kaya kahit saan ka man magpunta bitbit mo parin yung sakit? 

Kahit naman member ako ng NBSB (No Boyfriend Since Birth), naranasan ko na rin ang mag-mahal at masaktan. Wala namang lisensya para masabing pwede magmahal at lalong walang requirements na need i-meet para masabing pwede masaktan.

It’s been almost 4 years today when every waking up for me is a challenge and sleeping time is a way of survival.  

I remember how every morning, whenever I woke up I’m forcing myself to get up and trying to believe that something good is about to happen.  While every night before I went to sleep I was hoping that the next time I will open my little eyes I will be in the middle of an emergency room and the last thing I will hear is the doctors final advice, “sorry, she’s not going to make it.”

Bakit ba nagiging masakit? 

Kasi mahal mo. And it became more painful every time you are questioning yourself “Am I not enough?” “What went wrong?” “Why out of all the people that could hurt me, why on earth did it have to be that person?” “WHY?”

That’s the problem with us. When we love someone, we put our guard off and let that person be part of every pieces of what’s within us. That’s why in the end, when they’re gone we tend to lose ourselves too. 

Wala namang masama magmahal ng sobra PERO wala din namang masamang magtira ng para sa sarili diba? Ang puso may sariling pag iisip yan sa loob nya kaya kadalasan hindi sya nakikinig sa utak na nakalagay sa ulo natin. Ang puso may sariling batas yan na yun lang sinusunod nya at kapag hinayaan mo ang puso na yan na magpatakbo ng buong ikaw masasaktan at masasaktan ka talaga kasi wala sa bokabularyo ng puso ang salitang “TAMA NA.” Di siya naturuan kaya kung hindi mo pagaganahin ang utak mo para pumigil sa puso mo, sa huli masasaktan at masasaktan ka talaga!

Ano ba ang dapat sundin? Puso o utak? 

Noon, ako yung tipo ng taong mind over heart. Pero dahil si utak yung palagi ko pinapagana, kinain ako ng pride ko. Sa huli pride yung natitira sa akin. Pero nakaka-loko isipin na Iisang beses ko pa lang pinagbigyan na manalo yung gusto ng puso ko, natalo pa. Nakaka-dala!! 

Pero it only proves maalin sa utak at puso walang kasiguruhan, parehas may posibilidad na manalo o matalo.

Ngayon kung tatanungin mo ako ulit Puso o Utak?….

I would love to say WALA pero hindi pa naman ako tuluyang nasisiran ng bait.

Para sa akin, puso parin yung pipiliin ko. Kasi ang utak araw araw mo mapapagana yan pero ang puso minsan lang yan rerequest sayo kaya pagbigyan mo na. Basta maging handa ka lang, basta alalayan mo parin gamit ng utak mo. Pag utak yung pinili mo, pride yung kokontrol sayo, di ka na nga magiging Masaya mawawala pa yung mahal mo. Samantalang kapag puso naman pinagana mo, emotion ang ko-control sayo, mararansan mo yung sobrang saya pero asahan mong sobrang sakit din ang kapalit nito. Eh dun ka na lang sa sasaya ka, kahit masakit sa huli naging Masaya kaparin. Kesa naman hindi ka na nga naging Masaya sa huli nasaktan kapa. Diba?

PERO PERO PERO!!! Lagi mo tatandaan na hindi lahat ng tao ay worth the pain. Kaya kahit puso na ang papagganahin mo o pagbibigyan mo, always ask guidance from our Creator. He always knew what’s best for you. He never fails.

PAANO MAG MOVE ON?

It’s a process. We’ll never know how long it is but one thing is for sure, you’ll be okay. Keep in mind the fact that God woke you up this morning, it means you’re existence to this chaotic world of ours  are still needed.

Wag mo madaliin! Ako I tried na piliting mawala yung sakit. Yung tao na nakasakit sakin, dahil excited ako, pinatawad ko agad agad. We force ourself to forgive those people that we love because it’s easier for us to be hurt by that person a million times rather than lose that person. YAN ANG AKALA KO! May kasabihan na “hindi porket libre ang pagiging tanga e aaraw arawin mo na!” Mali. Hindi libre ang pagiging tanga, believe me it will cost you a lot!  The more mo madaliin ang paghilom ng sugat, the more madodoble ang sakit. Tao ka -- kailangan mo maglaan ng oras para maghilom. Kaya kung mapapansin mo kahit sabihin mong napatawad mo na yung tao masakit parin? Kasi ang puso pag nasugatan yan tapos ini-expose mo agad dun sa taong nakasugat ma-iinfect lang lalo.

Funny how we fool ourselves that the only person who could fix us is exactly the same person who broke us. And because of that way of thinking we tend to chase the person. We keep wanting them back and most of the time we let them stay even if that person reminds us of the pain that he caused.

They’re not and will never be the one who could fix whatever is broken inside us. Kaya nga I am broken eh, may “I” ikaw at ikaw lang din ang makakatulong sa sarili mo. Hindi magulang mo, kabarkada mo, boss mo, katrabaho, bagong kakilala o kung sino man. WAG MO I-ASA SA IBA ANG PAGHILOM SA SARILING SUGAT MO. 

Moving on is a battle that only YOU and GOD can win.

GOD OFTEN REMOVE PEOPLE OUT OF OUR LIFE FOR A PURPOSE NEVER RUN AFTER THEM.

Feel the pain until it hurts no more. Walang short cut ang pag mu-move on. At habang nasa process kapa, daanan mo lahat ng dapat mong daanan. Kasi kapag tumalon ka agad sa ending babalikan mo parin yung nilampasan mo. At lagi mo tatandaan na The history will repeat itself kapag hindi mo matututuunan LAHAT NG DAPAT matutununa.

SO PAANO NGA MAG MOVE ON?

The first thing you need to do is to compose yourself. Kapag magmu-move on ka na, kailangan mag mu-move on kana talaga. Kung hindi kapa handa wag muna. Kailangan 100% sure ka na gusto mo mag move on. Kasi if unsure ka, lolokohin mo lang ang sarili mo at syempre once naumpisahan mo na yung process wala na dapat balikan. OKAY? Lagi mong tatandaan na kahit sino pa yung nakasakit sayo pagdating sa pagmu-move on ikaw lang ang bahala sa sarili mo. OKAY?

You have to go through D-A-B-D-A process.

**Lagi mo tatandaan na normal sa tao ang magmahal at masaktan pero it is against human nature maging okay at magpatawad ng ganun ganun lang.** 

D – Denial

Eto yung moment na hindi mo pa matanggap na nasaktan ka ng taong minahal mo ng sobra pa sa sarili mo. Kumbaga di mo pa na-aabsorb at di mo pa nakikita yung whole picture. Ito yung moment na pag tinanong ka nila “Okay ka lang ba?” ngingiti ka lang at sasabihin mong “Sus okay lang ako no.” Madalas sa stage na’to maririnig mo yung sarili mo “mahal ko kasi e” “mahal ko talaga siya” bla  bla bla! At hirap kang tanggapin na kaya ka nasasaktan kasi MAY MALI na DAPAT ITAMA. Hala sige lang!! Normal yan. Go lang ng go. Matatapos ka rin sa stage na yan.  Lilipas din yan.

A – Anger

Eto na. Pagkatapos mo manawa sa pagde-deny at medyo naprocess na ng utak mo yung pain na naidulot nung tao, magagalit ka na. Ito yung moment na halos isumpa mo na yung taong minahal mo ng sobra pa sa sarili mo. Madalas sa stage na’to maririnig mo yung sarili mo “pagsisisihan mo rin na nawala ako sa buhay mo” bla bla bla! BITTER DAYS!!! Which is normal reaction para sa isang taong nasaktan. Sa stage na’to hayaan mo lang ang sarili mo, magalit, mainis, mairita sa pagmumuka nya. Normal parin yan. But keep in mind you have the right to be mad but that doesn’t give you the right to be rude. Feel the pain, feel the anger but never become the same person who wrecked you. Sabi nga, “Be good to people. Even the shitty ones. Let the assholes be assholes. You'll sleep better.”  Isang araw mapapagod Karin na puro galit yung laman ng dibdib mo. Matatapos ka rin sa stage na yan.  Lilipas din yan.

B – Bargaining

Eto na! Medyo tricky ang stage na’to. At sobrang tempting! medyo i-alerto mo dito ang utak mo, okay? Dahil sa hinaba haba ng proseso ng pagmu-move on ang dinaanan mo bigla mo siya mamimiss. Bigla mo ma-aaalala na masaya kayo NOON. NOON LANG YON! Bigla mo mararamdaman yung tira tirang pagmamahal mo sakanya na naiwan kung saan saang parte ng bituka mo. DITO SA STAGE NA’TO TAYO KADALASANG NATATALO. Puno ng tukso ang stage nato. Madalas maririnig mo ang sarili mo “miss ko na siya” “kamustahin ko kaya?” “baka naman pwede pa namin ayusin” TSK TSK TSK!! “Lord pwede isa pang chance?”

That’s stupidity! Control sa sarili. Kasakdalang itali mo ang sarili mo sa puno mapigilan mo lang na kausapin syang muli. TAMA NA. OKAY? Katulad nung Denial at anger na pinag daanan mo matatapos ka rin sa stage na yan.  Lilipas din yan.

D – Depression

Eto yung stage na unti unti ay nagsi-sink in na sa utak mo na wala na talaga. Most of the time when we are hurt we feel worthless, unlovable, ugly, stupid, LAHAT NA ng negative na pwede maramdaman. Lalo na pag na-realize mong he’s doing fine without you. Sakit diba? LALO pa at may bago ng nagpapasaya sa kanya!!! Nakakadepress. Sa stage na’to nauuso yung pagtapos sa buhay. HALER! Yung moment na nagising ka kaninang umaga, sa ayaw mo at sa ayaw mo ibig sabihin may silbi kapa sa mundo. Dito sa stage na’to ka dapat nagpa-plano kung paano mo bubuuin ang sarili mo. Gamitin mo ang pagkakataon na ito para gawing motivation yung pain na naranasan mo. Kasi alam mo na yung mali, panahon naman para alamin mo kung paano itatama ang lahat. Maglasing ka, umiyak ka, magwala ka, gawin mo yan kung yan yung makakabawas ng sakit na dinadala mo. How hard we are to our own self every time we got hurt? Pero ganon talaga. Dadaanan at dadaanan natin ang stage na ito. At pag katapos mo, siguraduhin mong tapos na talaga at wala ng naiwan na kung ano anong anek anek na feelings. Cry and be hurt as much as you want just make sure when you’re done, you’re done. No more, no less.  Matatapos ka rin sa stage na yan.  Lilipas din yan.

A – Acceptance

This is it! Finally gumagana na yung utak mo! Yahoooooooo! Ito ang stage na natanggap mo ng wala na talaga. Ubos na yung sakit, ubos na yung pagmamahal, bitterness, at mga what if’s mo. Ang tanging natitira sayo ay ang katotohanan na panahon na para ibangon mo ang sarili mo. Sa stage na’to napatawad mo na siya at dapat napatawad mo na rin ang sarili mo. Ito yung masarap na stage, wala na yung bigat na dinadala mo, very light yung feelings at positive na yung ihip ng hangin. Ito ang best time to start all over again. 

Time to clean up the waste. Itapon ang dapat itapon, burahin ang dapat burahin, idelete ang dapat idelete. BITTER KABA PAG NI-DELETE MO SIYA SA SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES??? HINDE! You’re just doing a favor for yourself. Besides, being friends with someone who hurt you so bad is like asking the kidnappers to keep in touch with you after they’ve set you free. Pero choice mo parin. Kung satingin mo e you can still be friends kasi 100% okay kana, sige lang. But make sure to build a wall inside you and don’t ever let anyone break it again. Tandaan, vulnerable kana sa tao na yun kahit pa sabihin mong past is past, once minahal mo ang tao at once nasaktan ka nito ng sobra, hindi na mabubura sa history yun kahit pa hindi ito naisulat sa libro. Sabi nga ng tattoo ko sa Wrist “Guard your heart” favorite bible verse ko yun. 

Proverbs 4:23 “Guard your heart for everything you do flaws from it.”

So ayun. Walang umpisa na madali. PERO WORTH IT! Alam ko madali man para sakin ang isulat lahat ng nabasa nyo sa taas pero nahirapan akong isagawa. Halos tatlong taon din ako sa Bargaining. Kainis! HAHA! 

Kaya nga sabi ko hanggat di ka pa 100% ready, wag muna. At kapag inumpisahan mo na be patient. Kahit .0000001% a day lang yung mabawas sa sakit progress na yun! Lagi mo tatandaan na hindi iisang araw nyo binuo yung memories nyo kaya hindi rin iisang araw ang kailangan mo para matanggap na memories nalang talaga yun. Lagi mong isipin na kaya mo kasi kaya mo. 

Be with people na magpapaalala sayo na HOY NAGMU-MOVE ON KA. Yung araw araw magsasabi sayo na “KAYA MO YAN! NANDITO LANG KAMI.” You have your friends & families whom you know will always be there for you kahit gaano ka pa ka-shunga.

God will never leave you nor forsake you. He will never let you fight alone. He will send people who will help you.

TRUST GOD. If you can’t trust His plan because it is confusing just TRUST Him alone. 

Always Pray. Lalo na pag yung sobrang hurting ka, sabihin mo “Lord hug me please” believe me totoong mararamdaman mong niyayakap ka nya ng mahigpit. Faith is when you were able to trust in His perfect timing. God loves us so much and sometimes He uses the deepest kind of pain for us to learn even if it is hurting Him too because He knew that you can and you will! and so YOU MUST! 

Most of the  things learned in a hard way are easier to remember.

Don’t be rude to yourself especially to your heart.  If you were able to forgive the person who hurt you, you must forgive yourself as well for letting that person hurt you.

Ang puso marunong bumawi yan kapag pinahirapan ka nya. Isang araw isusurprise ka nalang nya na “Sorry na, eto yung kapalit nung umalis oh.” And for sure sa pagkakataon na yun nag-iisip na ang puso mo. Never lose your trust to your heart and  mind. Never doubt yourself and most of all, never lose your Faith. He knows what He is doing, just cooperate with HIM. Okay?

Bookshelf Briefs 3/4/19

ACCA 13-Territory Inspection Department, Vol. 6 | By Natsume Ono | Yen Press – And so, ACCA ends as it began, with endless discussions between relatively stoic middle-aged people. This is pretty much the definition of Natsume Ono’s career, so no complaints here. Things work out. Being the leader of a revolution is the last thing that Jean wants, and it’s amusing to see how he’s theoretically promised something to every single territory without actually promising anything. Moreover, ACCA manages to threaten the new ruler without actually removing him, and there are hints that he’ll be nicer—to Jean’s sister if no one else. Six volumes seems like the exact length for this series, and I’m happy to have read it, even when it was intensely talky. – Sean Gaffney

The Ancient Magus’ Bride, Vol. 10 | By Kore Yamazaki | Seven Seas – It’s a new direction for The Ancient Magus’ Bride, as Chise is off to attend the alchemist college. The alchemists want to study Chise in hopes of creating an artificial sleigh beggy substitute and in return she gets to audit classes for free. I liked that her primary goal is learning how to help people without sacrificing herself (with the side goal of thus keeping Elias from undertaking any more the-ends-justify-the-means efforts to save her) and also potentially find cures for the two curses now afflicting her arm. Many new characters are introduced, Chise is reminded that she’s “really bad at dealing with people and school,” and the church realizes that Elias’ observer has been lax and prepares to send out someone different. I’m enjoying this arc so far and remain very glad I got caught up on this series when I did! – Michelle Smith

Anonymous Noise, Vol. 13 | By Ryoko Fukuyama | VIZ Media – Yuzu’s back and just in time for In No Hurry to participate in the Tokyo Sailing concert series. The only problem is that Nino is “catastrophically terrible” in rehearsals, which she attributes to having nothing left to yearn for now that she and Momo have finally gotten together. A lot of angst ensues, culminating in a performance where Nino seems unconcerned that she’s damaging her voice, convincing the two main guys in her life that she’s planning on giving up singing. Yuzu seems poised to try to reign her in by joining her on vocals—this would be a huge development—buuuuut then we end the main story to make way for a bonus story that is fine, I guess (it does have a cute cat), but not what I wanted to be reading. This series is still occasionally infuriating, but I guess I’m hooked now. – Michelle Smith

Barakamon, Vol. 17 | By Satsuki Yoshino | Yen Press – Hiroshi’s absence is felt here, mostly as he does NOT call home all the time or immediately return. Hilariously, Handa tries to fix things by dying his hair blond and doing incredibly bad Hiroshi impressions. The bulk of the humor in this book, though, comes from the arrival of a two-person documentary team, here to videotape the countryside but not really prepared for the sheer presence of most of the cast, (and also having tremendous trouble not flirting shamelessly with each other, something everyone picks up on). Barakamon is wrapping up next volume, and that seems about right—this volume seems to be dragging things out a bit, and most of the main plot points have been wrapped up. – Sean Gaffney

Gabriel Dropout, Vol. 6 | By Ukami |Yen Press – The last half of this volume of Gabriel Dropout deals with the school trip, and has some good laughs, including two times where I literally laughed out loud (both involve Gabriel). Which is good, because that’s the main reason anyone is reading this series. The characters are not really here to develop, even as we introduce more of them. Another human girl gets a spotlight here, trying to make friends with Mei despite her being a devil and also really shy. Raphiel gets to snark, Vignette gets to overplan, Satanichia gets to do her “evil ojou” impersonation… everything is present and correct. Should you still read this series? Yes. It’s funny. It’s not deep, but I always smile at the end of it. – Sean Gaffney

Hatsu*Haru, Vol. 5 | By Shizuki Fujisawa | Yen Press – If a direct confession doesn’t work, well, try the forceful kiss again, I guess? Really, a lot of Hatsu*Haru revolves around how bad Kai is at being a cool shoujo lead, and I don’t expect this to end well for him. Meanwhile, Riko’s crush is finally married, so she can theoretically move on—though most of this volume is about how moving on is hard. And in a blow to my shipper heart, Ayumi and Takaya are faking a relationship in order to try to get Kai and Riko together… but don’t actually seem to have any sublimated feelings for each other. Darn. Ah well, the manga is still young. Till then, please enjoy teens being really emotional and awkward about romance. – Sean Gaffney

In/Spectre, Vol. 9 | By Kyo Shirodaira and Chashiba Katase | Kodansha Comics – Again we get two stories in this volume, one shorter and one long. The short one shows us Kotoko in high school, being asked to join a mystery club that’s about to be dissolved and in her spare time figuring out that the club is more about a forbidden romance than any actual mystery, though I was amused at “spoiling” a mystery that isn’t a spoiler in the first place. The longer story is more serious, about a young woman with a deadly past that… is not being brought up by the media, and about Kotoko and Kuro solving the mystery and also revealing a lot to us about lucky cat statues. There’s less of Kotoko being silly and horny in this one, but the stories are fun. – Sean Gaffney

NE NE NE | By Shizuku Totono and Daisuke Hagiwara | Yen Press – The opening scene of NE NE NE shows the wedding between Koyuki and Shin, an arranged marriage in which the groom is twenty years older than his teenaged wife. While this premise certainly had the potential to enter into somewhat questionable territory, the manga is actually quite charming and sweet. I’m not sure that I was ever entirely convinced by the difference in Koyuki and Shin’s ages based on how they were portrayed as individuals, but I did enjoy seeing their relationship naturally deepen over the course of the volume. Of the two leads Shin is the more fully-developed character—he at least gets a backstory while almost nothing is known about Koyuki beyond the fact that she desperately wants to be a good wife. But even so, they’re adorable, both together and on their own. With an additional dash of humor and magic, NE NE NE is a delight. – Ash Brown

Ran and the Gray World, Vol. 2 | By Aki Irie | VIZ Media – The opening chapter of this volume pissed me off righteously, as it involves teen-version Ran hanging out with Otaro the creeper and telling him, “You’d better not touch me” only for him to immediately glomp her. Actual quote from my notes: “THIS FUCKER DOES NOT LISTEN AT ALL. I WANT TO KICK HIM INTO THE SUN.” He promises he’s got “lots more” in store for her, but thankfully her new magic teacher arrives and the story moves on to deadly magical insects (one comes thiiiiiis close to killing Otaro but, sadly, he survives), magical training, and classmates who have crushes on Jin and Ran. I vastly prefer Ran’s age-appropriate love interest, Hibi, and sincerely hope having a friend her own age inspires her to stay away from Otaro. At least Jin is on to his womanizing ways. – Michelle Smith

Ran and the Gray World, Vol. 2 | By Aki Irie | Viz Media – The good news is that all the reasons that I enjoyed the first volume are here again. Ran is a delight, I also like her brother (and his maybe relationship with a new girl whose looks and personality remind me of Hinata Hyuuga), the bug subplot is creepy but also drives the story forward well, and the art is absolutely gorgeous. The bad news is that the main thing I didn’t like about the fist volume is also here: Otaro, the sleazy older guy from the first volume, is back and still trying to get into Ran’s pants. Even if she weren’t really a young girl using magical shoes, he’d still be the absolute worst, something the manga artist knows—they show him being reprehensible. Maybe he’ll die in the next book? Nah, I’m not that lucky. – Sean Gaffney

Tales of Wedding Rings, Vol. 5 | By Maybe | Yen Press – I was prepared to meet the fifth Ring Princess in this book, which we do (she’s on the cover, in case you hadn’t guessed). It’s the rest of the book that took me by surprise. Things go very bad very fast, and all of our main harem end up being shunted back to Earth in order to save them from the encroaching doom. This is… annoying given that Satou and the Ring Princesses’ sole purpose is to save the world from encroaching doom. It does mean we get to see cute things like shopping for clothes and going to libraries. It’s also fortuitous, as the fifth princess was on Earth all along. Will we be headed back next volume? And will Satou ever manage to go all the way with Hime? Honestly, I suspect no, but this is still fun to read. – Sean Gaffney

Thanks, Dad! (A birthday tribute to Papa)

First, I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SIR JULIUS!

I can't believe how a 67 year old can still jog and maintain full working posture under 12nn heat just to take care of his plants and veggies. I mean how?? RIGHT?

But first let me take this opportunity to give appreciation to your existence. So Im going to talk about YOU.

For everyone's knowledge, I am a certified PAPA's GIRL. Loud and Proud! Every time I watch commercials, movies or even a skit about a dad-daughter love, my eyes are weak! Tears will sure to fall and im not even kidding. Have you seen Jollibee's commercial about the kid celebrating Valentine's with his mom when his dad died?? Bro...... that one's tough. But yes, I am pretty emotional when it comes to my dad. He never once used violence as a discipline. Mind you, Im not spoiled. I understand the weight of their No's. Even though they raised me in a way that I MAY have looked spoiled, I always respect their rules. That is why I value that at this age, I still have a curfew and it has been a well known fact with my friends. My dad  wasn't really the "cool" type of a dad. He's more of the boring old-school type. Base on his age, I think it's self explanatory how OLD-school he can be. He hates going to the malls. He doesn't like traveling because it makes his feet sore after a long drive. He hates cold sweet drinks and (oh this is something I am proud of) he is a VEGETARIAN. *jaw drop. Yes my dears. My dad hates PORK AND BEEF. Our lunch and dinner consists of a Meat course (for me and mom) and Talbos ng Kamote (for dad). My mom loves cooking and sometimes it's a problem within our household how can we make dad eat the food if it has meat in it SO, my dad grew his own veggies. Let me reitirate that. HE. GREW. HIS. OWN. VEGGIES. We have all sorts! From Tomatoes to Malunggay. From Fruits like Mangga, Santol, Calamansi, Papaya, Buko, Saging. So HE can harvest anything there to steam and eat. That's how it's been since forever. Maybe that's why I grew up with veggies as something normal unlike some kids who hates them.

My dad was pretty smart. Graduate of UP Diliman and University of Baguio. He was a aiming to be a doctor but due to circumstances, he took Pre-Med (back when Pre-Med is actually a legit course) and decided to study Medical Technology after AND decided to study Library Science AND took MA in Library Science (whew) Worked in Lung Centre and transferred to World Health Organization. He manages the Library because he loves books (I MEAN WHO DOESN'T!?) and was also a researcher for TB-Dots and many more. At first it was normal to us but I tried to google his name. WOW! HE WAS PRETTY FAMOUS IN W.H.O! Considering he traveled all over the world and talks about these illness to places where internet is beyond impossible. He retired at the age of 60 and has been at home taking care of the house, dogs and mum ever since. After he retired, he was offered to be an ambassador for Indegenous People of Asia Pacific. Maaaaan! Am I proud!!! He declined it since it's been a dream of his to just rest at home.

For the past few years, I've witnessed my dad hard work phase and the stay-at-home dad phase. I've observed how his hair slowly turns to gray and how he lost weight. Out of us three, He's the the least to get sick (bet all those vegetables works after all) and believe it or not, their are days where I just stare out of nowhere or stare at the back of his neck while he drives and think "What will I do without this man?" (wow im crying right now). There are times when I think I might go crazy when he leaves us and as much as I don't want to grasp around that idea, I am a little worried thinking how much he's aged and how I lost track of time. I grew up without knowing he is also growing old. I never heard him complain at anything (except whenever we use water too much or lights are open too long) about us. Mum and I are CRAZY hoarders but he never complained. Back when I was in a several relationships, he was once asked, "Okay lang po ba kayo sa boyfriend niya?" and I was right there, standing near our entrance door, holding Obama when he answered "Ehhh basta okay siya at gusto niya at safe siyang nakakauwi, Okay samin. Ang mahalaga, iuuwi niya siya samin" (these tears...) and I was moved. I promised myself never to burden him with my decisions. To always let him know where I am and if he wants me to go home, I will.

When I found out that I was adopted, I cried. Not because they kept it a secret but because I was sad that I wasn't theirs but then, I slowly understand that I was ALWAYS theirs. I was never ashamed being adopted. I was cared with a father who took care of me. Fed me. Gave me education. Thought me how to drive etc. During those times, I asked my mom why they didn't tell me sooner. She said "Ayaw ni Papa mo". At first, I didn't know why but I know now. He took his time before telling me. He waited until I know in my mind that I can accept it and that is how he always was. He never once said anything that will make me hate them because he knew me and how I will react to things. It's either he will wait or he will step back and let me figure it out. I was raised by a man who let me grew as someone who can handle things this way.

When I first had my heart broken, he knocked on my room door with my eyes puffed and him not knowing why. He just sat there and asked me "Gusto mo starbucks" and wow! Did I cry my eyes out. Whenever I get sick, he always go up to my room and sit and just touch my forehead and leave. He will not say a word but that tap on the forehead is enough. He opens and closed the gate for me as I leave. He drives me to work every Thursday (coding day) for 3 years. He asks me "San ka punta?" everyday even if he knew Im going to work. He always reminds me to eat before leaving even if I don't. He reminds me to SAVE money. SAVE SAVE SAVE that is probably his favorite word. He took me to my first Star City experience because I was bullied at school. Whenever he's out, he still buys me fruits and I too buys him popcorn if I had the chance. He never missed 6:30pm news. We argue with TV schedules since HE IS THE KING OF THE COUCH but when I say "Pleeeeeaaaaase", he wil accept defeat, hand me the remote and transfer in his room to watch. He was the reason I loved writing and reading. My first love letter was addressed to him. I can tell you SO many thing I love about him. The list goes on. But for now, I am just grateful that I was raised by Julius Dizon Jr. A man with a heart of gold. Someone who smiles at every passerby whenever he waters his plants. Famous for his kind heart who never hesitates to give for his family and to strangers. If I will be born again, I would still choose to be in this family. Even if it's just us three. They consider me as a gift who was given to them in times that they prayed for one but the truth is, I was born because God knew that these people will be my anchor. Today, Dad, as you take a year old, I would like to give my sincerest appreciation of how you loved me and my mum. You deserved all the happiness this world can offer. Eat as much veggies as you want! Sing your heart out with Sunday's Bests! Jog everyday at your heart's content.

You are my standard of a man I would someday like to be with forever. Your values as a person and your heart that puts a mark to people is something I respect, Pa. I will always look up to you. Tell stories about you and tell them how proud I am of you. God has blessed us with Y-O-U. I pray that God may let you live longer and stay with us and keep us entertained with your petty arguments with Mum. I wish for you to enjoy your day today. I pray that God will continue to guide you and give you happy days like today. You are a gift of life itself. Salamat, Pa! HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY and may the karaoke today be full of Elvis Presley songs. Have fun with you jogger friends and keep it slow with the beer. Anime is known to most of the people of the world for three of its speciality; its art style, action scenes and tragic element. Even though I’m not a big fan of anime when it comes to the action genre, it would be wrong to say that they don’t possess a charismatic touch. But on the other hand, I was attracted to anime due to its unbelievably touching romance element and mostly because of its hilarious comedic sense. No matter what others may say, I love them and never miss out an opportunity to check out anime of this genre. That’s why today, I will be sharing with you My Top 6 Comedy anime series which I think that you should check out if you are also a fan of humour. So without any further delay, let’s get right into it!

HONOURABLE  MENTION: ‘Hayate: The Combat Butler’ was the first romantic comedy anime series that I came across and I don’t regret watching it. However, now that I have watched other series as well, this anime remains as just another memorable series which has a great role in turning me into an Otaku.

Handa-kun 

Maybe the latest comedy series that I have completed and my only comments to it will be: “That’s freaking hilarious!” In my first impression post of this series, (If you haven’t seen it then click here) I was told that the storyline would get pretty much mundane by AnimeIndianPhilosopher and Hestilia. They were absolutely correct about that, but the reason this anime still managed to be on my list is because most of the negative rating which was emitted by the monotonous storyline was completely absorbed by the hilarious monologues and childish happiness of Handa; Maybe because, I laugh at almost everything possible.

Bokura wa minna kawaisou 

You all must have noticed in some manga, whenever a person throws in a punch line or a reaction comment, the listener doesn’t always answers but what he/she is thinking is written by the side of the character. Well this way of comedy is something that makes me laugh really hard and that’s the main reason why ‘Bokura wa minna kawaisou’ is in this list. A light hearted Romantic comedy series couldn’t get any better with the male lead often being the prey of some hilarious situation, which is mostly created by his masochist roommate (Yeah, seriously) and the drunkard office lady who are also living as paying guest in the kawai complex. This Rom-Com is the best series to pass your time, or to recover from any heavy themed series.

Nichijou 

If you want something unpredictable……. then….

I saw this small anime crack on YouTube where a blue haired anime girl all of a sudden grabbed a goat, which I guess was eating some paper, and performed a wrestling move on it. My first comment on that scene was: “What the ****?” and then my second comment was: “That’s so cool!!” I started searching for that anime and when I finally saw that series, I was glad that I watched it. ‘Nichijou’ is not something that will make you laugh every 3 or 4 minute, it’s something which builds up your laugh for a while and then makes it burst with a great punch line. The best thing about this series was the occasional RAGE comedy of the two main girls, BLUE and RED, which makes me laugh my ass off! (Note: You will enjoy this anime if you like men riding a goat)

Seitokai Yakuindomo  

You know, on a survey, it was proved that every 2 out of 3 males enjoy adult comedies and laugh about it publicly while every 3 out of 4 females enjoy adult comedy but only 1 out of 4 laugh about it in public while the others tag those jokes as “Pervy jokes”. Now, I don’t know whether you are one of those who enjoy these jokes or not, but as for me, I love them (As long as there is no unnecessary fan service included). ‘Seitokai Yakuindomo’ is the only anime I have seen which was able to slam adult jokes without any hesitation, and to be honest, I loved each and every one of them! What makes the series even better is the occasional comment by Tsuda, the ‘pure’ male lead, who keeps on giving his views on every jokes made by the student council president and his best friend. (By the way, if you are still not able to figure out, the fact that I laid out earlier was false :p )

Sket Dance 

I started this series without knowing anything about it, except the fact that everyone was recommending me this series. At first, I thought that this anime was of sports genre, since it has the name Sket in the title (Which I thought represented Skates). But when I watched it, I was left awestruck, partly by how terribly wrong I was and mostly by how awesome the jokes were. The best thing about ‘Sket Dance’ is that Himeko and Bossun never pass out an opportunity to pass comments on anything that is bizarre in its own way, and that is absolutely hilarious. Moreover, I liked the character Switch, who is voiced by my favourite comedy VA, Roman, thanks to her awfully amazing comics (God! They are hilarious. My salute to the one who created them) and Dante, the mystery man. (Great words by Dante: Flightless Crow; you guess what that means :3 ) Seriously if I start ranting on the awesomeness of this series, it will use up more than a thousand words!

Daily lives of High School Boys

There are some anime which gain a great respect and love in your heart. When it comes to comedy series, that position is sealed by this series, ‘Daily Lives of High School Boys’. Maybe it was the mundane topic, the slice-of-life setting or the embarrassing situations that clicked, but this anime is indeed comedy personified. If only it was as lengthy as Sket Dance or Gintama, this series would have gotten much more appreciation than it has right now. Strictly speaking, unlike Sket Dance, we are actually able to put ourselves in the shoes of the protagonists and laugh hard at something that has probably happened to almost everyone. Also don’t forget GREEN voice acting, that guy is really one of the best comedy voice actors, Respect!

Manga the Week of 3/22/17

SEAN: …eurgh.

Dark Horse has the 4th and final volume of Dangan Ronpa. Will anyone survive? And will any more manga spinoffs be licensed?

J-Novel Club debuts another series with a ludicrous-seeming premise, In Another World With My Smartphone. Still, they’ve won me over with ridiculous books before…

ASH: Though I’ve fallen way behind in my light novel reading, I do continue to be amused by the absurdity of some of these titles.

ANNA: That is sort of hilarious, but I’m just not a light novel reader. If only someone would bring back the 12 Kingdoms books…..

ASH: YES! I would love that so much.

MICHELLE: I was thinking about those books just the other day! I also would read the Saiunkoku light novels.

SEAN: Kodansha has a pile of stuff, including three more digital debuts. Altair: A Record of Battles is a long-running manga from Shonen Sirius, and it’s supposed to look fantastic. Also, more historical manga, yay! Basically, this is the sort of title the Off the Shelf column was made for.

ASH: I was not aware of this series at all! Definitely sounds like something that I’d be interested in reading.

MICHELLE: I don’t know much about it, but many of the covers are gorgeous, so that’s encouraging.

ANNA: Huh, this does sound intriguing.

MELINDA: Well, huh. I think you’re right!

SEAN: BLAME! Academy And So On is a spinoff of the main BLAME! manga that I think is similar to Spoof on Titan. It’s also digital only.

MICHELLE: I don’t know… I really loved BLAME!, perhaps to the point where I wouldn’t find a spoof amusing.

ANNA: I still need to read BLAME!.

SEAN: It’s not all digital. Clockwork Planet makes its print debut. It’s also Shonen Sirius, but seems to be more SF steampunk and fanservice.

And some series are ending, as we get the 7th and final volume of Forget Me Not.

The next digital debut next week is also a “Hey, Michelle and Melinda!” sort of series. Hozuki’s Coolheadedness is a long-running series from Weekly Morning, about a deputy of the King of Hell and his daily life. It’s won awards.

ASH: I’ve seen a little bit of the anime adaptation and it was great fun. I suspect the manga is as well!

MICHELLE: Totally on my list!

MELINDA: Oh yeah, this, so much this.

SEAN: Kodansha has a 3rd volume of In/Spectre and its wonderfully annoying female lead, who I love.

Lastly (at least digitally) is Museum, which runs in Young Magazine and looks dark and depressing as hell.

MICHELLE: I don’t typically go for dark and depressing, but this one seems to be a mystery complete in three volumes, and that does have some appeal.

SEAN: And a 4th volume of That Wolf-Boy Is Mine.

MICHELLE: I’m looking forward to this, which I believe is also the final volume.

SEAN: UQ Holder has transitioned from weekly to monthly in Japan, and that seems to mean volumes are coming out slower here as well. Here’s the 10th volume.

Seven Seas has some stuff as well. A Centaur’s Life never fails to puzzle and confuse me with what demographic it’s actually aiming for, even at its 11th volume.

Lord Marksman and Vanadis has a 3rd volume of fantasy action.

And there’s a 6th Merman in My Tub, which I think may have caught up with Japan.

More BLAME!, as Vertical is releasing the 3rd of its giant omnibus editions.

MELINDA: These really look so nice.

SEAN: Viz has a 5th volume of peppy slice-of-life comedy Goodnight Punpun.

ASH: Goodnight Punpun continues to devastate me, but I still find it compelling.

ANNA: I don’t think I have the emotional fortitude to read it yet.

ASH: It does take a fair amount; I have to time my reading carefully.

MICHELLE: I feel much the same, Anna.

SEAN: As well as another volume of Master Keaton, now in double digits.

ANNA: I love this series.

SEAN: And there always seems to be more Terra Formars, with its 17th volume.

Hooray! That’s it… oh wait, Yen. In fact, we’re not even halfway there. (sobs)

Yen On has 4 books this month, i.e. it’s a very light month for them. First off, Accel World 9 finally finishes off its huge 4-book arc.

Durarara!! also wraps up another arc with its 6th volume. All I can say is: pen. DRRR fans will know what I mean.

Log Horizon’s 7th volume shows us what Shiroe and his group were doing while the events of Book 6 happened.

And Re: Zero shows us Subaru trying desperately not to get killed by his maids.

Oh yes, and for digital lovers, volumes 7-10 of Spice & Wolf’s novels are also out next week.

Now for all the manga they’re releasing. Accel World also has a manga release with its 7th volume.

There’s a 5th volume of the Akame Ga KILL! ZERO spinoff.

The Asterisk War gets a 3rd manga volume.

Always enjoyable Barakamon has lucky Vol. 13, and I find I no longer keep comparing it to Yotsuba&!.

MICHELLE: I still plan to get caught up on Barakamon soon. I have a huge pile.

SEAN: Blood Lad has an 8th omnibus, and is nearing the finale but is not quite there yet.

MICHELLE: Yay! I haven’t read this series in ages.

SEAN: There’s a 3rd volume of the Boy and the Beast manga adaptation.

As well as a 2nd Bungo Stray Dogs.

ASH: As someone who is somewhat well-versed in Japanese literature, I got a huge kick out of the first volume and plan on reading more. I’m not sure the series works as well for people who don’t catch most of the references, though.

MELINDA: I plan on checking this out.

SEAN: More manga adaptations of light novels! Here’s the second Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody.

MORE manga adaptations of light novels! An 8th Devil Is a Part-Timer!.

Dragons Rioting has a 6th volume of what still appears to me to be mostly breasts.

Fruits Basket’s Collectors Edition has reached its penultimate volume, and features more angst than you can shake a stick at.

MICHELLE: Heh.

MELINDA: YES.

SEAN: There’s a 5th print volume of Handa-kun as well.

We have reached the last volume of He’s My Only Vampire, and while I enjoyed it, I am also very happy to see it’s ending.

MICHELLE: Same!

ANNA: One of the few vampire titles I haven’t read!!!

SEAN: The Honor Student at Magic High School continues to be irritatingly ahead of the light novel release with Vol. 6.

Kiniro Mosaic has a 2nd volume of cute girls being cute and maybe sort of yuri.

Then more yuri with the debut of Kiss and White Lily for My Dearest Girl, which may be from Comic Alive but is apparently on the ‘sweet and cute’ end of the yuri spectrum.

ASH: I plan on giving this one a look! The cover is adorable if nothing else.

MICHELLE: I’m looking forward to this one, too! My friend said, “It’s S. A with lesbians!”

MELINDA: Absolutely on my list!

SEAN: Love at Fourteen finally returns with a 6th volume, and let’s face it, these kids are fifteen now.

MICHELLE: Heh. Another series on the read-me-soon pile.

SEAN: EVEN MORE manga adaptations of light novels, with the 4th OreGairu manga, which it too long to type out.

Speaking of long titles, a 6th Of the Red, the Light and the Ayakashi.

ASH: I really need to catch up with this series! I enjoyed the early volumes, but have fallen behind.

SEAN: Return of the Son of manga adaptations of light novels, with the 6th Strike the Blood manga.

Manga Adaptations of Light Novels Must Be Destroyed with the 5th Sword Art Online: Progressive manga, which as always needs MORE ARGO.

A third print volume of Today’s Cerberus.

Twinkle Stars has a 2nd omnibus, and I suspect will continue to deal with not being Fruits Basket.

MICHELLE: But it’s so good!

MELINDA: I am behind on this, and can’t even quite believe I let that happen!

SEAN: And there’s an 8th (really 9th) Ubel Blatt omnibus.

So that’s 48 titles, and that’s not even counting the 2 that Yen delayed to the week after next just because. I think this is a new record. What say you?
