Dating Farleigh Start Would Be Like This...

A/N: Pffft his face here is a whole mood 😭 I got a similar request for Felix too, so he's next 🙃 Dating headcanons coming right up, with a side order of freaking obsessive, naturally:

⚜️• I don't know what to say about this guy that isn't already shown in the pic 😏 he's a cocky, rude, arrogant flirtatious player who takes every opportunity and advantage to use to his best. Once something's caught his attention, it'll play on his mind and he'll get to it in his own way, because that's the Farleigh Start we know and love.

⚜️• You'll meet him at Oxford, maybe hanging out around his friends with Felix and the rest, maybe not. I think he'd be very much drawn to someone who's not like the girls he sees always running after Felix or trying to make him jealous when they don't have his attention. You be you, and when he uses a very bold and seemingly smooth line on you, give him a look of amusement and slight confusion, and he'll be stunned that you didn't fall all over him for his charms like he's used to.

⚜️• Farleigh just watches you leave for a solid minute in bewilderment and intrigue because the guy got kicked out of every school because of how he is, but apparently, you're not that easy? This is new...?

⚜️• Don't think Farleigh's just some rich prick playboy who has to pick on the smarter kids to stay in college though, because he's surprisingly smart, which wouldn't be a first guess based on the way he acts around people and mocks anyone who isn't anywhere in his circle of friends and social class with Felix. If you saw him reviewing essays and stuff with Oliver and the teacher near the beginning of the movie, you can see he knows his terminology and how to study to get good enough grades in class. The only reason he kept getting kicked out of schools was for messing around with the teachers. It's not like Farleigh's stupid, not at all, but there's no way he's going to work harder than he has to... which isn't that hard at all.

⚜️• So when he saunters over to you yet again with his familiar arrogant smirk and charm, offering you a drink while his eyes unsubtly trail up and down your figure in intrigue, and you smile in amusement and casually turn him down... 😑😐 (his face) and then realises that okay, he might have to work harder than he usually does, because there's something about you that's made him curious, Farleigh has to rethink for a second before trying to get you to tag along with him and his friends more often.

⚜️• If Felix doesn't ask you over to Saltburn for the holidays, Farligh will nag at him to do it, with seemingly no other reason than "you're hot" and "why not have a new face?" and whatever else he thinks up on the spot that's half earnest and true, and also because a big manor out in the country with private gardens is just the perfect place to take this person he's been mildly obsessing over for the past while to draw them in... Felix, say yes now, because boy won't take no for an answer.

⚜️• During the course of your stay and hanging out around Farleigh, you'll come to realise that he's actually not a total jackass and snob that fools around with any girl he thinks is hot enough. His ties with the Cattons are pretty fragile and complex, and there's a lot more to him than he'll ever really show. There's a lot of pressure in fitting in and matching Saltburn's aesthetic and definition, but if you're someone who's not completely used to all the wealth and standards and makes him feel more relaxed and accepted without a facade everyone seems to wear, you'll see more and more of what makes Farleigh, Farleigh.

⚜️• So well done to him for discovering that there's more to an aspiring relationship than just the sex and passion, there's communication and actually getting to know each other too 👏

⚜️• As you get properly closer, you'll see that the dude gets ridiculously jealous when any other guy or girl shows an interest in you that goes past platonic in his eyes. He's started arguments and fights before about lesser things, so don't think he won't tense up and his eyes won't narrow into an annoyed glare at whoever it is that's taking up too much of your time. Farleigh will probably finish it off by humiliating them in some way, smirking in amusement from his seat as he watches his efforts pay off, and shrug with a faux innocent look when you call him out on it.

⚜️• If Oliver Quick happens to be Felix's guest at Saltburn too, Farleigh's jealousy levels and possessiveness will spike too, along with a hint of protectiveness. Since he basically thought right from the beginning that there was something weird about Oliver - maybe not to the realistic point that's revealed, but enough to not have one friendly or lighthearted word for him - Oliver going to you for friendship or most likely something more will only motivate Farleigh to exclude him as much as he can from the rest of the group.

⚜️• I feel like Farleigh would grow to quickly love what it means to be in a committed and official relationship, when before he turned his nose up at the idea of being restrained to only one person instead of a fling, and not having to worry about telling each other things that go too deep. It seems to all come naturally with you, and he loves it; being a loud and gleefully obnoxious supporter when you're doing whatever club or sport or anything at all with half a crowd watching from the sidelines. Proud, smug boyfriend right in the front row taking an unnecessary amount of photos to put up on a wall in his room.

⚜️• Farleigh makes simping look good. 😎

⚜️• He'll take advantage of the money he gets to buy you as expensive things as he can get, smirking proudly when he remembers you talking about something you like to get you. Farleigh can absolutely be romantic if he tries, mostly when you're alone and he makes sure he's the first one to tell you he loves you, it'll be surprisingly heartfelt and sweet and vulnerable, and then you've officially, one hundred per cent, seen Farleigh Start for everything he really is, which isn't all bad at all.

⚜️• Big-time pda, and if you're not into that, tell him now, right now, because he's fairly shameless and won't think twice before showing off to his friends by making out with you at uncalled moments, or being more subtle and sweet by having his arm naturally around your shoulders when you're watching a movie or at some social event. Big handholder as well; walking to and from class, alone, in public, doesn't make a difference to him.

⚜️• His jealousy factors into his affection outside sometimes, not that he doesn't trust you, but Farleigh definitely isn't the only player around, and when you're at Saltburn with Felix, he might find himself being frustratedly insecure that you'll be drawn to him because... well, it's Felix, and everyone loves Felix. So when you show that you're not interested at all and it's Farleigh you're dating, duh, he'll chill out a bit after being clingy for a day or two.

⚜️• I will say that even though I don't write smut, it's gotta be obvious that you'll have more than enough going on behind closed doors, because it's Farleigh, and he likes you a lot, so... yeah, brace yourself 😏

⚜️• All I'm gonna say, though, is watch out for Oliver Quick, who's most likely watching it all with that familiar longing and envy of having such a close and strong relationship with someone beautiful and unique, who seems to fit in with the rest of the family just by being you. He's going to. want it, really want it, and whether he gets it or not is a matter of luck and dark fate.

Analyzing the Skywheel Dates

Unable to wait patiently for the Ultimania releasing next month, I wanted to provide my own analysis of the Skywheel dates between Cloud/Tifa and Cloud/Aerith.

By analyzing Cloud's behavior on these two dates, which are explicitly more romantic than the other four, I aim to understand why the dates played out the way they did and what was going through the character's heads during them.

Tifa Date:

What sticks out in most player's minds during the date is the kiss Cloud gives Tifa while riding the Skywheel, and it's easy to see why! It's the first time Cloud has kissed a woman on screen, after all. But I have seen fans state that this proves Cloud likes Tifa more, and while I hate to get myself involved in any shipping war, I feel there is a more interesting conclusion we can draw based on the timeline of events throughout both remake games.

First, I want to direct you to this caption from the Remake Ultimania:

When Cloud gives Tifa the flower, he wants to "Show off a youthful image of what he himself wants to be like"...

I think this caption is very important to helping us understand why Cloud was able to be so bold as to kiss the girl he was always too shy to befriend as a child. And I think it's linked to his new "ex-soldier persona."

See, the ex-soldier persona Cloud crafted is modeled after a person he admired and wanted to be like: Zack. Although making this new personality for himself was an unhealthy response to his trauma, I think there are good things to it, as well. For one, it allowed him to take action again and thereby begin his first steps towards recovery. In addition, it gives him courage to do things he never could before, such as strutting his stuff on the dance floor:

I don't think it's too far of a stretch to say that this extends to him giving the flower to Tifa.

So this, in my mind, explains how Cloud had the courage to kiss Tifa and why some fans might think it felt a little sudden or out of character--it's because it almost is, in a way. But let me reiterate, I don't think that's a bad thing. I think Zack's influence on Cloud is somewhat natural and, frankly, having the courage to do the things you want and have fun is never a bad thing. I truly believe Cloud is exemplifying being Zack's "living legacy" by becoming more confident and outgoing. It's a good thing!!

And let's not ignore Tifa in this scene. Before the kiss, Tifa brings up that she feels she and Cloud have become closer, but frets that she's rushing to conclusions again. She's giving Cloud a clear opening to prove his feelings for her--and frankly, after all this build up? Giving the flower, all the tiny touches they've shared? Cloud is more than ready to prove it to her, and he does. It's so easy, and he does it the best way he knows how: with a kiss. In that moment, the boy became the man he's always aspired to be.

Aerith Date:

Conversely, the Aerith date isn't quite as simple--at least to me. It's hard to understand what's going on in their heads, and I think they comparatively have more obstacles in the way of their romance.

The biggest obstacle is that Aerith has seen through Cloud's persona, and almost calls him out on it during the date. She tells him she's looking for the real him, and that she wants to meet him someday.

I believe this stops Cloud, subconsciously. While the persona he built around Zack gives him more confidence, it's still a persona. It's not who he really is. By giving into that persona at all, he is not giving Aerith what she wants. Being confident and bold with Tifa was important, because she needed proof he liked her, but here? What's important is being the "real" Cloud, whoever that is. It must have stumped him.

Aerith gives him an easy out though: she asks Cloud to let her snuggle up against him until the ride ends. And that much, at least, Cloud can manage. And he goes even further than that when he interlaces their fingers together. I think this is his way of showing that he'll be there for Aerith--not just till the ride ends, but after. He's showing her that he does, in fact, care about her, and that her selfish request isn't as selfish as she thinks it is.

I also want to bring up the lyrics from No Promises to Keep here since I think they're extremely relevant to the Clerith relationship and the hand-holding symbolism seen throughout the game:

Till the day that we meet again At our place, just let me believe In the chance that you'll come Take my hand and never let me go Take my hand And believe We can be Together evermore

The hand holding symbolizes their shared desire to be "together evermore" and the belief that they will be. The interlocked fingers display a powerful, mutual bond that cannot be so easily severed. I think this imagery is both simple and extremely beautiful.

In summary, although they are not at a point in their relationship where they're ready to kiss yet, I believe this scene is meant to show that there is still possibility for their relationship to grow and get to that point.

Three Cursed Princes

*these won't be actual fics, this is just conceptual - I only wrote the synopses

Prince Yeonjun has known almost his entire life of the prophecy with his name. Written mere months after his birth, bringing shadow to cloud his parents' joy, the royal couple's most trusted advisor and skilled seer proclaimed that when the prince found his truest love, it would be at the price of a great sorrow. Whose sorrow, the seer could not determine, nor did she see a name of the one who completed the other half of the fate - the truest love. The tale of the prince's destiny was well known throughout the kingdom, with many parents from respected families discouraged from their aspirations of merging with the royal family through marriage by the warnings of the seers. Despite Yeonjun being the only child of the king and queen due to unfortunate circumstances, they pardoned him from his duty of carrying on the family line, wholeheartedly believing the fate they were sold. As a young man, Yeonjun himself only half believes the fortune that has been attached to his name, following him even in his years of childhood. But when he begins to fall for a girl from a neighbouring kingdom, breaking all the rules to sneak out at night to see her and quickly form a connection, he can't stop hearing the cursed story in his mind. 

Though they know they should stay away from each other, though they know the predicted doom hanging over their heads if they give in to their attraction, they just can't bear to be apart. Will they be able to live with the cost of their love?

Prince Beomgyu is about to marry the love of his life. A happy future lies ahead and the couple are excited to begin it. But when the prince is woken in the middle of the night by his distressed council, informing him of a horrible curse that has been placed, threatening to plunge the kingdom into eternal impenetrable darkness, Beomgyu must choose between his own happiness and the safety of his people. He’s horrified to learn that he must sacrifice all memory of the love he holds so dear in order to break the curse that looms over their heads, growing ever closer; he will not recognise her face, her name, all feelings he has ever held for her erased. Her memory, however, will remain untarnished. Feeling he has no choice, the prince agrees, bolting to the other side of the castle where his fiance is staying to see her one last time before the spell takes effect.

Can love break a curse, even if the one you love has no recollection of it?

One should never anger the gods—but the gods like to hide in plain sight. Prince Kai hates hunting, but his uncle, his sole guardian, makes him join the hunting party as it's a long standing royal tradition. While he doesn't enjoy hunting animals, he has been trained in archery since he was young and is very skilled in the sport, never missing a target. On the trip he is pressured into shooting a deer, which it turns out is truly the god of the woods. As penance, the prince is cursed. Kai knows not what the curse entails, and lives in fear of the day he finds out. His uncle scours the land for someone who could divine the details of the magic placed that day, but to no avail; all they can do is wait to see it play out. But I can tell you, reader, the nature of the curse: when the prince finds his true love – and he will — the first kiss they share will draw her into the magic that binds their fate, and she will be forced to spend her days changing between human and doe, with the prince compelled to chase and hunt her against his own will, his own heart, for the rest of their time on earth.

Can Prince Kai find a way to break the spell before it drives him to lose the one he loves?

hi!! you said it'd be okay to request oc/canon fankids, so i thought i'd toss one of mine into the mix! her name's salt lick cookie, and she's a farmhand on a ranch. she mostly helps with the horses (hence 'salt lick'), and is a HUGE Horse Girl™. she has that THICK southern drawl, and is pretty laid-back in general. her pet would be a little living hobby-horse toy, y'know, the kind on a stick that you'd stand over and run around pretending to ride as a kid.

i think it'd be REALLY cute to pair her with potato cookie, since they both work closely with animals, and potatoes and salt tend to work well together lmao!

i do wanna apologize for a couple things regarding the reference image: since i can't draw, i used a mobile dollmaker app, so the colors aren't 100% accurate… salt licks run the gamut from pure white to a deep, pinky red, but nothing's as dark as the red on her overshirt, so that red should be lighter and more pinkish. (her bandana is supposed to be white and pink, too, not. yellow.) and the website i used to make the background transparent decided to also make her pigtails, shirt, and half of one boot transparent… hopefully that won't make a difference if the canvas is white?

Oh and by the way if you’re wondering why the oc looks different in my ref than the one given, it’s because I redrew it myself and afterwards I was told I could use that version if I wanted

Anyways on to the show, so I named him Potato Chip simply because they’re potatoes and they’re usually salty. I mean one’s salt and the other potatoes, what else was I gonna do if not some form of salty potatoes?

Potato chips:

Funny enough when making the initial rough sketch, I thought he looked a bit too much like Salt Lick, but around the time I was finishing up, I thought he looked a bit too much like Potato. I’m willing to say now he’s probably more of an even balance

I do admit that I kind of just gave him Salt Lick’s top hair, just with some more rounded ends to resemble Potato more. I was always planning on making his hair blonde with white streaks since he’s still a potato, but I also made the blonde slightly more orange, though I don’t think it’s very noticeable

I also gave him those dark brown flecks in his hair just because the potato chips I was looking at had some pepper in them. And it tied in with the eyebrow color

I gave him pink eyes because it was supposed to represent the salt, but also I realize that if I didn’t give him pink eyes, he’d definitely look too much like Potato

So with his outfit, initially he was going to be a farmer, but I ended up think “what if he was a chef instead?” and went with that for everything below his scarf (since that was what I had drawn first). But also I didn’t change the initial look, mostly because I really liked it, so I think his top part and his bottom part may not entirely coincide with his theme

When trying to finalize the colors, I wasn’t sure about giving Potato Chip his yellow shirt, since I thought it looked off, but my friend told me to make it flannel and make his scarf red, so I did. I think I’ve gotten flannel mostly down, but truthfully I’m not sure

But yeah overall I quite like his design

Now onto his character

So I said before he’s a chef. Well he still lives on the potato farm with his family, but he also acts as their cook, since he’s got aspirations of one day being a famous chef (though he’s currently a bit too young to pursue these dreams, he’s still a teenager). His dishes mainly consist of various things made of potatoes like potato salad, potato chips, potato pancakes, loaded potatoes, you get the picture. Also if they have a mill for potato flour/starch, I imagine he mans it as his main role on the farm

Other than that, he’s a sweet guy. A bit shy and sometimes easily startled, but he doesn’t have an ounce of malice in his dough. He just likes to make food for the people he cares about

And yeah I think that’s about it for Potato Chip, I hope you like him!

An idol under hybe entertainment and is world wide known, somehow stumbled upon Y/n on the streets and chose her to be his non-celebrity friend along Sakura and Giselle, pure coincidence nothing else. Spends most of his time on twitter to endure the work that is given to him and to find inspiration (memes, his inspiration is memes.)

SAKURA MIWAYAKI : best japanese singer genuinely, is also an idol under hybe entertainment, found y/n in the auditions with her snd they got along so well its like they have been friends forever! (Y/n didnt make it as an idol doe💔) pure talent and hardwork pays off in her case!! Really works for her dreams. Is in a love-hate relationship with Taehyun?? They have beef?? Some facts about Zac Which you may or may not know!:

1. He turned down a big record deal.

Jesse McCartney said Zac turned down a record deal, with six zeros attached to the end of it (huge $ offer) Due to his preference for acting. The deal wanted him to put out a solo album. Not sure how many offers he got, but it is known Simon Cowell of all people wanted to sign Zac.

Additionally it was Zac’s love for singing that opened the door for him into the acting world.

2. He knows how to play the piano.

Growing up Zac has mentioned a few times very briefly that he knows how to play the piano extremely well. He took piano lessons as a kid, and it was his piano teacher who took notice of how talented he was and helped aspire his parents to get him involved in auditioning for roles.

3. Taylor Swift herself taught him how to play guitar.

Even though he knew how to play piano quite well, Zac said he struggled with learning how to play the guitar. He stated his previous attempts have all been failures and nobody could teach him. Up until Taylor Swift of all people (who he calls a legend) volunteered to teach him. Since being taught by Taylor, Zac continued working on his guitar skills and has said he knows how to play almost every song with the four chords Taylor taught him. One of his go to songs he learned to play is Santeria. All thanks to Taylor Swift for being an incredible guitar teacher, according to Zac.

5. He’s into song writing! Says he wants to write his own album one day or even a musical!

One thing a lot of people don’t know about Zac is his interest in songwriting, or rapping. While working on his comedy film, ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’ Zac wrote (and is credited on) for writing ‘Stang Life’ which is an offical sound track song for the film. Zac additionally raps on the track. The lyrics are understandable if you watch the film, as it’s film-based inspired lyrics. Zac also co-wrote his collaboration parody duet with Taylor Swift and wrote Vanessa Hudgens a song for her birthday.

6. He likes to write poems, and loves to paint & draw which he does really well.

A Zac fact that most people don’t know but something he mentions often is his love for poetry & painting/drawing which he is good at.

His (now removed, or faded) feather tattoo on his bicep was actually designed (drawn) by entirely him. Which he once mentioned in an interview.

Quote: “I actually designed it (tattoo). I like to sketch - it’s my favourite medium. I’ve done drawings and paintings for girls, but mostly I do comic books. Sometimes it’s just nice to put thought.”

In an interview while doing press for The Greatest Showman, Zendaya shared her first impressions on Zac. She never expected that Zac would be what she calls a “super nerd” since he’d go on telling her about Stranger Things, which he’d passionately deep dive about. Growing up, Zac wasn’t the popular kid in school, and sometimes bullied. Although he did community theatre which was an escape for him. His teacher once described him as “shy and quiet” and spoke about his passion and determination for acting.

Pretty self explanatory. Zefron is very smart, especially since USC has a very low acceptance rate. Always has been. Zac not only was a top performer in arts but also academically. Friends of his past said he would take studying very seriously since he doesn’t slack off anything he does.

10. He played on a baseball team while growing up and has a signed baseball from Dusky Baker.

Before he got into theatre, and singing & dancing. Baseball was one of the sports Zac would play growing up! Dusky Baker is also one of the players who signed his ball when Zac was only a kid. Promising after 35 minutes he’d return from church to sign it, which he did.

11. He had a very large gap between his teeth while growing up, and has a whole lot of freckles!

His gap may be fixed nowadays! But time to time when he doesn’t wear his retainers his signature gap between his teeth makes a small comeback! Other than the bright eyes and gap, Zac also has a freckles all over his nose and freckles on his cheeks too.

Story: Dillion's story starts with a graffiti-riddled alleyway. Being abandoned by well-known junkies, a screaming baby was found by the police and then placed into foster care. It was not easy for the first decade of their life. A lot of blood, betrayals, and fistfights were not lost. Eight homes returning her that used to be intrigued. No one had really wanted a child that would barely talk, but also not know when to give up and back down. Until one day, the Carter Family had taken them in as a preteen and had not returned them. It's been history ever since. The adopted family was black and Dillion was as pale as could be, but the whispers did not deter them from growing even closer and loving each other. Dillion's quiet yet useful, bold, and confident demeanour has landed them two jobs: a mechanic and underground boxer by day, and recommended by their sisters in the fashion industry— a model by night. It is those same sisters that had shown them the "Shine" modelling competition and convinced them that it was good exposure. That Dillion was worth so much more than what they had. She had tried taking pictures once, but quickly she realized she preferred being in front of the camera instead. Today I wanna talk about how WITH's role, as characters and as their seiyuu, is pretty inseparable. (Warning: it's gonna be very long.)

When it comes to idol anime (or any anime that has performing bits really), there are two approaches that the production team usually take:

Have two different people to do the voice act and performing bit, or

Cast one person to do both

For series that focuses on stage performances/concerts (like Prism and LL), they usually use the second approach. It's nothing new, but PriPara is a bit more unique because they extend this to the stage plays as well.

When an anime series got adapted into stage play, it's very rare to find the seiyuu plays their character. But when PriPara makes stage play adaptation, the main casts are played by the seiyuu themselves. I'm not that big into stage plays so I can't give any accountable opinion on this matter, but to me, this makes the characters feel more... authentic, for a lack of better words. The seiyuu also gets more opportunity to build their characters. This is especially true for WITH.

We all know that WITH is just a group of side characters, and there's nothing much about them in the main media (Idol Time anime). This can't be helped since the anime is created to focus on Yui's story after all. But thanks to their banger song, they gained enough popularity to be invited to Pretty Series concerts, and eventually got their own separate events. And this is where it starts.

Unlike the girls, who have their character settings fleshed out in the anime, WITH seiyuu have to fill in so many gaps for their solo events. This allows them to play their character more freely, and even suggest their ideas to the directors. Since the boys barely had anything set in stone, it wasn't that hard to get the approval. Of course, not all of these ideas are used as canon material (like the mascots that I've talked about). However, some of it does ended up being used; for example, the story of Koyoi's past.

In their first solo event, WITH's seiyuu were asked to draw an outfit for their character. Reiou (Koyoi's seiyuu) drew Koyoi in a ninja thief suit, and explained that "this is when he was more wild in the past".

Yup, this is the birth of Koyoi's past story. Reiou came up with how Koyoi was known as "Avocado School's rampage machine gun" in his rebellious era back in middle school, as a joke. This joke sticks to the whole production team, so much that it ended up being used in their audio drama, and later being made as the base for WITH Stage plot.

Seichi and Kobatatsu also have some influences to WITH's canon, but Reiou's more recognizable, perhaps because he's an aspiring mangaka and has a knack for building character settings. The birth of DARK NIGHTMARE was also indirectly thanks to him, since Koyoi's rebellious past gave the production team an idea for his past acquaintances. He actually contributed so much to WITH concept and stage plot that I'm gonna need a full separate post to list them all. He's even nicknamed "the ghost director of WITH".

Aside from their inputs to the story, the three of them also put so much efforts into bringing the characters to life. They practiced so much to the point that they're able to sing and dance just like real JP idols, even though they're voice actors. I know it's not that special for female seiyuu nowadays, but that's not the case with male seiyuu. And the reason for that is because all three of them always went above and beyond what's expected from them. On their first event, they revealed that some of the songs they performed actually weren't required to have choreography (e.g. Tick Tock Magical Idol Time and Make It!), but they still decided to do it and had Kobatatsu taught the other two some of the moves.

Those efforts weren't in vain, because WITH now has so many fans who are/were also JP boygroup fans, and many of them said that "WITH's performance quality is on par with real idols, it's really good". This was also what drawn me to them at first, their performance is just that good. I'll link some below.

So yeah, thanks to all their efforts on performing and contributions in building the characters, you really can't easily swap them for any other seiyuu/actors. The chemistry between all three of them is also really great and it's fun to watch them fool around on Twitter and events. Those are the reasons why so many people love them, even though they don't have that many contents compared to other characters in the series. And if you never watched their performances or stage plays, give it a chance! You might like it, or even fall for them haha.

I have… Probably over a hundred different little stories that I come up with as someone who definitely isn’t a maladaptive daydreamer… most of them are indulgent wish fulfillment that will never see the light of day and don’t actually go into the same categories as the stories that I plan on turning into books so…

On subjecting myself and my characters to the mortifying ordeal of being known I shall start with these casual little stories, and not my proper ones, starting with the most recent thing that my brain has been occupied with, namely…

These losers.

Read about them if you want, I guess. Though uh… Do be forewarned that this story touches upon things like transphobia and homophobia. Because we can’t have nice things.

In my head this is a bit of a… Coming of age story? The main focus would be on the characters on the right - Luke and Jade, who are siblings growing up in an… extremely conservative family. Their regular normal people life becomes a bit more complicated as Jade comes out as a tans girl. In the illustration I decided to draw her a bit later on in the story, once she is a little further along her transition, but as you could expect in the beginning it… Doesn’t really go over well. Her parents even consider sending her off to a conversion camp, though fortunately are convinced not to.

Luke is Jade’s older brother who, aside from taking after his parents, is also very easily influenced by his friends (who, unfortunately, aren’t very good people). He’s a textbook jock, with most people thinking his only possible future lies in a sports career. The only person unaware of this opinion is Luke himself, who is still invested in his studies, even when his teachers don’t have high hopes for him. Jade coming out was quite literally his first time putting any actual thought into his parents’ and his own biases. He… Doesn’t react well, at first. Eventually he does come around and makes up for the damage he’s caused.

Jade is about two years younger than the rest of the gang. There are… A few obvious things that she’s going through. At first she is quite literally alone against everyone and really really scared, but throughout the story she finds her confidence and learns to strike a balance between prioritizing her safety and genuine self expression. She comes across as shy to most people, but that’s only because she is under a lot of mental strain. In a comfortable environment she is a little goofball.

Hemlock and Colin are Luke’s classmates (the three of them are seniors at the start of the story), though they hardly ever spoke before the inciting incident. That incident being Colin breaking the nose of one of Luke’s friends and everyone having to go to the principal’s office.

Hemlock is a relatively chill person, though they participate quite regularly in activism. Them and Colin have been friends since middle school, which was partially thanks to that. As with many calm and sweet looking individuals, Hemlock is particularly terrifying when they get angry - not because they’re violent, but because they are willing to go to unreasonable extremes to do what they think is right. Being intersex (which is something I’d have to do a lot of research on if I wanted to make it into a story) they’ve had to deal with a lot of bullshit, and are eager to help others in need of support. When they hear about Jade’s transition, they immediately insert themselves into the situation.

Colin is the overly intense and angry counterpart to Hemlock’s chill and sweet personality. He also has a much shorter fuse than them and is quite a bit more violent. The kind of person that looks like they hate you even if they don’t. He grew up raised by a single mother and one of his big aspirations is to look like she did in her teenage years. He also does martial arts, though I’ve still yet to decide what kind. Despite his aggressive and hostile character, he gets along surprisingly well with Jade (through mostly making fun of her brother).

The story essentially kicks off a couple of days after Jade comes out and her parents are still contemplating sending her off to a conversion camp. Luke and his friends get into a bit of an altercation with Hemlock and Colin, which ends with said friend having his nose broken. While waiting at the principal’s office, through a bunch of shenanigans, Hemlock and Colin catch wind of what’s happening with Jade and decide that this is absolutely their business. The rest of the story is basically the four of these goofs clashing, goofing around and eventually becoming good friends. And maybe some found family. As a treat.

That’s… Extremely long for a short summary, but I’ve… Always wanted to share some of my oc concepts and stories, even if they’re a bit watery in terms of substance. I do intend to draw more of these characters, as well as potentially the characters from other stories and/or the dnd campaign I’m in. So yeah.

Faye is a bubbly, creative and observant girl who moved into the area recently, and becomes a new student at the Skool (very original, I know). She's an aspiring author who likes to write paranormal, horror, and romance fiction, developed an interest in urban legends and the paranormal due to the research she's done for her stories, and she becomes Dib's new bestie who helps him try to take down Zim.

She also loves dogs and, despite knowing good and well that he's not really a dog, inadvertently befriends GIR after making a fuss over how cute she finds him. She knows not to let him follow her home or tell him anything about Dib, but otherwise isn't complaining about that development!

Some other little notes:

Her hobbies/skills include writing and reading stories, researching the paranormal, crafts and DIY. She also hangs out in graveyards sometimes, because she finds them relaxing to be in.

She's a lesbian, but doesn't currently have a crush on anyone.

She favourite animal is rabbits - she has several plushies of them, and her backpack (which I'll include when I make a ref for her later) is pink with bunny ears.

She has an older sister named Tia. Although they bicker often, Tia's always looking out for Faye, and is currently worried that Dib is a bad influence on her. I haven't fully figured out her design yet, but I'll draw her someday I'm sure

Reggie always was a lover of people watching. He'd find a spot to sit in his favourite café, order whatever the server recommended, and break out his sketch book. Spending his afternoon drawing the scenes of life that he saw, or the nature surrounding him. The staff never seemed to mind, maybe because he always tipped well, maybe because the place was never bustling.

So every week, he'd find himself back there, sitting and sketching, until he was pretty well acquainted with the staff.

There was Luke who was only working there until he had enough to record a demo, Flynn who was using the money to help pay for fashion design school, Carrie who was an aspiring actress.

And Julie.

Julie was Reggie's favourite server. The one who always gave him a bigger helping of fries or complemented his drawings when she passed. Who sat with him after her shift, stealing some of said extra fries and just chatting with him.

Honestly Reggie came back to see her just as much as for the quiet place to draw. And from the shy little smile she offered him every time he came in, he figured she knew that and didn't exactly mind.

Today he was laden down with a bouquet of dahlias as he came into the café. He saw them and felt a desire to draw them, and hey, maybe he could offer them to Julie afterwards? She seemed like the kind of girl who would appreciate flowers, and if maybe it lead to him finally asking her to go eat somewhere she didn't work, well all the better right?

Only when he entered, Julie all but threw herself into his arms, hugging him tight. "Please play along," she whispered. Then loudly she exclaimed "Reggie! You absolute sweetheart, you even brought me my favourite flowers! What a treat!"

Reggie saw a guy standing nearby, scowling at Julie and almost glaring at Reggie and he suddenly understood. Guys came here and figured if they tipped well that the girls owed them something and didn't always take no for an answer. Luke usually escorted them after that, but he must be working today. So Julie had tried the old 'I already have a boyfriend, fuck off' ploy. And Reggie got to play the part.

"Of course I did darlin', I knew you would have a long day today what with a double shift and class tonight. Figured they would help brighten your day. Plus I hoped I'd catch you on your break-maybe we could go get a pita from the spot down the boardwalk?"

"Sounds heavenly, but I'm not on break for another ten. How about you go sit at the bar and I'll get my coat when I'm free?"

"You can go now Julie," a passing manager said. "Take an extra ten while you're at it, you earned them after the rush this morning."

"Thanks boss," Julie said, glancing to the side to see the guy still watching her, so she leaned up on her toes, pressing a kiss to Reggie's cheek. "Just let me grab my coat." Then she rushed off to the back.

The guy approached, looking Reggie up and down. "You the boyfriend or a willing sap?"

"Very much the boyfriend, so I'll thank you to leave my girl alone," Reggie said, putting on his most menacing face, thankful he'd worn his leather jacket today.

"Not worth it anyways," the guys scoffed. "The blonde is prettier."

Reggie looked over to where Carrie was working the register. "Trust me buddy, she's not your type, and could kick your ass. Try somewhere down the strip if you want an easier go of it."

The guy glowered but left, and it was as if the whole place breathed a sigh of relief. Julie came out and sagged when she saw the guy was gone. "Thank goodness," she said, offering Reggie back the flowers. "You're the best, thanks for helping me out."

"Keep 'em," Reggie said. "I got them for you any ways."

"For me?" Julie replied with a blush.

"Yeah, I was going to draw them and then maybe use them as an invitation for lunch somewhere that's not here?"

Julie beamed at him. "I'd like that, let's go." She took his hand and Reggie smiled right back. "You can draw me with them later if you want," she offered.

And Reggie did, a few weeks later, proclaiming it his best work. Pity he could never show it to anyone given how the dahlias and a smile where all that Julie was wearing. But that was okay, Reggie was sure that with Julie as his muse/girlfriend, there was plenty of more art where that came from.

Hi! I’ve been on a writing/writeblr hiatus for a while, so now that I’m back I figured it was time to make a new pinned post and introduction.

You can call me Micah. I’m thirty-one years old, and I’m an aspriring novelist. I say aspiring, because despite my efforts, I’ve yet to finish an entire novel. Still, I persist in my writing, with high hopes. I have adhd, major depression, and social anxiety. I also deal with chronic pain. I’m also currently a part-time college student.

Hartley, the mysterious billionaire scientist who invented their prosthesis. Each are determined to keep their past a secret, eager to have something normal in their lives.

But when Zelle is attacked, everything changes. The mystery behind Lark’s amnesia might finally be solved — but at what cost?

For Sylas Vale, joining the Stanton-Grant Corporation’s AI Partner Program was an easy decision. After all, SGC makes a lot of promises to their prospective subjects, most importantly the end of the chronic pain that has plagued him since childhood. Now, five years on, the AI known as Minerva isn’t only his partner — she’s his best friend and constant companion, helping him pilot the UNSS Inquisitor into unknown territory, seeking out ever more natural resources for humanity.

Captain Lhaileth Tansh'r has been patrolling the edge of Alliance space for the past five rotations. It’s a thankless, not to mention boring task, and one that was given only to get him and his radical ideas out of the way. He doesn’t foresee anything exciting happening. He certainly doesn’t expect to encounter a strange ship appear on their sensors. But protocol for first contact with a spacefaring species is well established. Ordered by Earth to keep her a secret and use her abilities to infiltrate the alien society, Sylas reluctantly becomes humanity’s de facto representative.

With a whole new galaxy to explore and cultural miscommunication abound, Sylas will soon become torn between his duty to his people, his ideals, and his budding affection for his guide, Lhaileth.

I think the duffers severely underestimated how deeply fucked up and cruel the younger queer community is toward the older queer community when they decided to have Henry be in his 30s rather than making him younger like, say, Billy (Not to say people aren't unbelievably fucked up toward Billy in this fandom because ooo boy, I learned some shit recently. But for Billy its a different reason and that basically being a whole lot of performative weirdos trying waaay too hard to virtue signal.) 

I mean, it (Henry’s age) makes perfect sense from the in-story perspective given social constructs are a huge point of commentary and earlier times are notorious for the extreme inhumanity “Society” showed toward anyone deemed “different.” The further back into the 20th century we go, the worse it gets, but honestly. But, yeah, it truly seems Henry’s age has been the source of where a lot of the most fucked up nasty things said and thought about him truly comes from.  Which is another thing I was meaning to talk about with Henry is how he is in fact in his 30s but funnily enough he’s framed younger. Which, I’ve talked about Henry’s Obvious Autism, but infantilization of people with ND and disabilities is so common and a big issue.  And I think we can assume Henry suffered this. I honestly don’t think Henry did a lot to get treated like a 31 year old man or to know how to behave exactly as one as a result. I mean he would have wanted to, he would have wanted to think of himself as a grown adult to the best of his (limited) ability, with his own developed thoughts, feelings, aspirations, etc, but given Henry’s only form of “social interaction” with others was probably with the people who were keeping him as their literal slave (Brenner and his facility) or with literal children, and “slavery” -- and being a body to be experimented on/with was his ONLY life for a long and terrible 20 years (longer than he was ever “”free””), I can imagine Henry being extremely naïve in a lot of “odd” ways (Or ways that would at least be considered odd to “normal” people) and a little out of touch with lots of things including with what's considered ‘appropriate’ for his age and how an adult is truly expected to be, as an actual adult, and not as someone whose only mode of action as an adult to be as obedient and agreeable possible, like a child.  Henry probably spent his time when he wasn’t forced to act as an “orderly” drawing, maybe reading books, maybe writing stories, doing crosswords, coloring, sometimes joining in with the child test subjects with their games (though mostly while he was ‘acting’ as an orderly) just doing little things but nothing indicative of his age (like building personal relationships, traveling, having an actual education, moving through a career, following his own dreams and ambitions, etc)  beside the small menial chores in his position as an ‘orderly’, which was basically a glorified janitor.  But then on top of that Henry doesn’t even look his age. And I noticed that in the subtitles they don’t even identify Henry as a man. He’s identified as “boy”. Thats extremely odd for a male because men usually don’t get the same treatment as women, where girl and woman can be used interchangeably often but “boy” and “man” usually aren't. (Which is a whole other bag a shit I am not getting into in this post)  Its very sad to think about because Henry started out his unwilling life in the lab as a little boy, but he grew up. And I imagine as he grew he was obviously never actually allowed to be a ‘man’ but instead he was treated as a freakish in-between. Someone who is treated like a child, someone with no autonomy but who is not offered the same type of ‘sympathy’ or treated with the same delicacy as a child might be based entirely on the virtue of physically being a child. (Not to say the children in the lab were treated really well.)  And that being a lot to contend with mentally and emotionally to say the least. Like the gradual shift of having, particularly Brenner, a man who would have initially presented himself to Henry as kind and sympathetic person who wanted to understand and help him, turn into this cold vehicle of contempt and disappointment, as Henry continued to “fail” to be Brenner’s perfect weapon until eventually there's nothing left but a man and all his subordinates who suddenly don’t want to help you, they just want to hurt and control you, keep you locked away and under their heels, like you're nothing but an animal and your only worth is now the minor services you can preform around the facility that is your prison.  And yeah, side note, I think Brenner and his similarly likeminded associates took a lot of pleasure out of this. Even if they were initially pissed they couldn’t seem to make Henry “work” the way they wanted and remained kinda pissed about it, I could imagine these “mediocre” people felt pretty awesome about being able to abuse and imprison someone with the remarkable powers Henry had. Which would make their cruelty toward him emphasized and probably why we see that wild level of brutality and willingness to beat his ass at the drop of a hat from his “fellow” orderlies.  Also reference this post.  Anyway, Henry has pretty much never been “free.” And he has pretty much almost never been allowed to be an actual “person” either. His human life is one of non stop oppression, abuse and exploitation. And I feel like all of these kinds of things need to be taken into account when talking about him, regardless to what you think about him or how you choose to interpret Vecna’s actions. Because while Vecna’s “”actions”” might be able to be looked at as “”debatable,”” Henry’s actions and the position he was in is not.

Chapter I

Silco is a very important man with a very peculiar problem: An unruly, delinquent daughter jeopardizing his aspirations with her impulsive recklessness and constantly at odds with his supporters and employees because of it. Between building his budding empire, running his (less than) reputable business, and maintaining the careful balance of his power structure, he can't seem to be able to connect with her the way he feels a father should. The solution could lie in the most unexpected of places-- a mouthy underling far closer to his daughter's age than his own-- but might end up causing a very different type of problem for him-- one that puts him into some very compromising positions.

“And what would you know about having a daughter?”

Silco sits rigid in the leather chair, his back straight and stiff and markedly regal– a perfect vision of the unwavering authority of a king. One sharp blue eye regards you coldly, his other mutilated with corruption and burning with all the orange intensity of a collapsing star.  His imposing nature is only slightly stifled by the array of trinkets scattered across his desk, littered with childlike drawings in pastel colors. A reminder that, no matter how dangerous and tyrannical he may be, he is also a father– one who loves his beloved daughter deeply.

Still, he exudes an air of impatience. His voice is daring– mocking almost. Less a question and more of a demand. There’s a slight edge to it, as if he cannot fathom how someone so beneath him could dare to interject on his personal matters. Calling out your unmitigated gall with one little sentence and a carefully composed tone.

And technically, he’s right. You’re only in this room because you were one of the few people left alive– and that’s it . A glorified memo. Printed text given human form and constantly reminded of the inconvenience your voice causes. You are solely here to report what you’ve seen and leave and get out of his hair like a good grunt should. Speaking out of turn about anything else requires a certain level of audacity that borders on the clinically insane, especially given your present company.

Yet, even knowing this truth, the words had still left the safety of your tongue and teeth before you had the full chance to contemplate the consequence of the action.

“Not much, I guess. I don’t have kids.” You shrug out of sheer anxiety, trying to dismiss the blatant chill in his demeanor and not take it too personally. One doesn’t become king of the underworld by skirting the point. Besides, it’s too late to shut your mouth now. Might as well follow through with your initial thoughts on the matter, especially since it does technically pertain to the matter at hand. “But I am one– A daughter, that is. Not a kid, obviously.”

Despite your clumsy manner of speech, the sentiment seems to give him pause. His lips thin into a purse, forehead furrowing as his brows knit momentarily, running what you’ve said through his mind. He seemingly digests your words before leaning back in his chair, apparently finding them worthy of considering. He entwines his fingers together in a way that just screams ‘I am a ruthless business man and you have my attention. Use it wisely.’

“Very well. What would you suggest then?”

Hells. You really should have thought through what you were planning to say before you said it. All you can do now is word-vomit out the point and hope it comes across as semi-coherent. Silco has an unruly daughter causing him problems. You were an unruly daughter that liked to cause problems at one point.

You’re trying to be helpful here. Honest.

“You can’t force it like this, for starters,” You shift uncomfortably in your chair, trying to think of a sure-fire way to get across the point in a way that doesn’t make it seem like you’re criticizing him right out of the gate. “Girls– Look, we like our privacy, and having our dads burst into our space hissing and yelling at any given time– or all the time– can really start to breed some negative feelings. Jinx seems like an assertive girl. If she’s hiding from you, she probably doesn’t want to be found. You need to give her time to think things over and reflect on her own. She knows you’re upset.”

He hums quietly, mulling it over for a moment. He doesn’t look angry, which is all you can ask for, really.

“Is that all then?”

“Praise.”

He quirks a dark, narrow brow in your direction. It doesn’t help that he’s so effortlessly intimidating.

“Everything she’s doing, she’s doing for you. She might not necessarily be going about it the right way, but it’s clear she wants to impress you and she’s working her ass off to do it. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, boss. Honestly. Positive reinforcement. Praise the things she’s doing correctly rather than admonishing the ones she’s not—Or at least more often. Being yelled at and scolded constantly really isn’t helpful after a certain degree. It’s just demeaning.”

“A curious observation.” He nods, looking at the ceiling for a moment before returning his gaze right back on you. “And do you speak on behalf of all daughters when you suggest this or is it a more—“ You swear a ghost of a grin plays on his mouth, but perhaps you imagine it. Silco doesn’t smile, and he most certainly doesn’t smile at you. “—personal preference?”

“People in general, really.”

“Is that so? I have found that firm discipline yields the best results.”

“Maybe in certain situations, but it’s different with kids and their parents– not that I’m questioning you or anything. It’s just– well, when I was her age, it only made me more rebellious and likely to act out when my dad whipped out the proverbial rod all the time.”

“A trait not fully ironed out with passing years, I see.”

You flush slightly, hoping the mix of poor lighting and smoke conceals the blush of humiliation blooming in your cheeks. If he notices, he says nothing, but keeps his eyes on you, looking at you like he’s only truly seeing you for the first time. Fairly, this makes you squirm all the more. He’d never even spoken to you before and now you have his full and undivided attention on a rather personal matter.

“Spare the rod, spoil the child.” He eventually speaks again when you don’t respond to his jest, sighing as he reaches forward to take a cigar between his slender fingers. “Still, I will admit my present methods have been… ineffective. You seem knowledgeable and insightful. Perhaps you do have a point and I have simply been too hard on her.”

That’s huge from a man like Silco. It's especially huge that he would admit this to a low-level worker in his employ when he could have just as easily told you to fuck off and taken your advice quietly and without any admission on his part. It shouldn’t make you this happy– it’s almost embarrassing, really, reacting this way to his praise. You’ve got to swallow down the slight victorious squeal and instinctive grin that tugs at your lips.

“I guess just give it a try. If it doesn’t work out, You can go ahead and punish me for giving piss-poor advice.”

It’s meant as a joke to ease your own personal tension, but he maintains a perfectly straight face as he places the cigar between his lips and flicks the lighter, his good eye glowing ominously with the reflection of the flame.

“Oh, I shall .”

Oh. You think you will be keeping your mouth shut next time you’re around him. And forever, while you’re at it. Silco’s idea of punishment isn’t really something you’d like to become intimate with.

And then, without skipping a beat, he waves you off without a second glance.

“That will be all. Return to your duties. I’ll have you brought to me again, should you be needed.”

He whirls his chair back towards the window and away from you, concealing him from your vision, impressing the finality of the conversation. A thin trail of smoke swirls up from the cigar, and if you look carefully enough, you can see the burning yellow core in the window– and his equally intense attention still fixed on you in the reflection.

“Umm— Yeah, sure– Of course. Um–” You scramble out of the chair, narrowly avoiding tripping over your own two feet as you stand and smooth out the wrinkles in your clothing. Rather than leaving, as you probably should, you open your big mouth one last time. “Good luck with it, Mr. Silco. I hope– I hope you and Jinx can reconcile. She seems like a good girl, and you– you’re a good dad for caring the way you do. Better than most.”

God, why did you say that? Why the fuck did you just say that?

“A good girl, hmm?”

You could swear he repeats the words lowly through a whisper, and the pin-point prickle in your cheeks nearly has you throwing up from mortification at yourself. Just the way he says it, you—

You’re not going to think about that right now. Absolutely not.

Your hands are on the doorknob and you’re throwing yourself through the door before you can make a bigger ass of yourself in front of the king of the underground.

You only hope he forgets your name and face and everything about you after this.
