Rahal ends six-year pole position drought at Indianapolis | IndyCar
Six years since the last time he started on pole position in the IndyCar series, Graham Rahal will start up front once again at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Rahal will lead an all-Rahal Letterman Lanigan front row in tomorrow’s 85-lap race around the grand prix course, with Toronto Indy winner Christian Lundgaard starting alongside him. Lundgaard was holding onto provisional pole in the waning seconds of the Fast Six session, before Rahal surpassed him after the chequered flag and took the top spot with a time of 1’10.113, a tenth of a second clear of his Danish team mate. For Rahal, it’s his first IndyCar pole since the first race of the 2017 Detroit Grand Prix. Rahal went on to sweep that double-header weekend, which is also his most recent IndyCar victory. It was also a much happier return to the Speedway for Rahal, less than three months after he was bumped from the field at the Indianapolis 500 – on a day where all three of RLL’s full-time runners had to go through the Last Row Shoot-out. Rahal eventually made it into the race as a substitute for the injured Stefan Wilson. Behind Lundgaard, who won pole at the same track in May, an all-McLaren second row sees Alexander Rossi third and Pato O’Ward fourth. Devlin DeFrancesco, who has looked less and less likely to return to Andretti Autosport next season, recorded his best-ever IndyCar qualifying result in fifth place, ahead of Romain Grosjean in sixth. Championship leader and Indianapolis GP winner Alex Palou missed the cut to fight for pole position in the second round, but he will start eighth tomorrow, alongside his Chip Ganassi Racing team mate Marcus Armstrong. Crucially, Palou will start 11 places ahead of his nearest title rival, Josef Newgarden, who hadn’t been able to get up to speed since the morning’s practice session. Newgarden, visibly frustrated with his result, will start 19th. Palou enters this weekend with an 84-point lead over Newgarden with four races left this season. Jack Harvey finished eighth in qualifying but will take a six-place grid penalty for an unapproved engine change following the Music City Grand Prix last week, which demoted him to 14th on the grid and allowed Palou and several others to gain one place on the grid. Helio Castroneves and David Malukas are also serving identical six-place grid penalties which will demote Castroneves to 18th on the grid, and Malukas to 27th and last, barring any additional grid penalties that may come before tomorrow. This means Felix Rosenqvist will start ninth, ahead of Scott McLaughlin, Colton Herta, and rookie Linus Lundqvist, in his second race filling in for an injured Simon Pagenaud. Chapters 51-60
Read it on Ao3, Dokuga, or FFnet for daily updates!
Summary: Some memories fade with time, lured away by a passing breeze. Others are so ingrained in our hearts that we cling to them with every fibre of our being. To the point where it’s all we remember.
Inspiration: Forget Me Not by Marianas Trench
Turpitude
Sesshoumaru was taken aback by the questions, and Kagome wondered if his relationship with his mother was as strained as it had been with his father.
"It's alright if you don't know," she said, patting his arm to alleviate any guilt. "If she's been in her other form for as long as you say, her answers may have changed."
He nodded stiffly, brow still creased in thought. "Mother spent most of her time in her own home. It protected her from being directly caught in the spider's web."
Meaning that she hadn't avoided it entirely, Kagome thought, heart breaking all over again. How had Naraku managed to affect—
"Red. Her favourite colour is—was—red."
Verdant
With Sesshoumaru's attention no longer split between the Shiro and his mother, the western garden was quickly returned to its former glory.
Kagome spent her nights in the cave with Inukimi; she was a creature of few words, but Kagome quickly learned she enjoyed Go, though their games would span several days as Inukimi would get distracted after a few plays.
Kagome had also brought her a set of paints, a myriad of scrolls now littering the floor. The images were mainly of open scenery, filled with various shades of green and blue.
A frown creased her brow as she glanced towards the cave entrance, where the jar of red paint sat untouched.
Hark Back
Bringing Inukimi back to the gardens was uneventful, though none of them relaxed until Kagome's barrier snapped into place behind them.
Sesshoumaru had found a scroll in his library about combining the power of more than one creature, and though the instructions had been for youkai, replacing the second half with reiki had been surprisingly easy.
The iridescent dome shone with their combined powers, providing the gardens, and his mother, with the protection needed to keep everyone safe.
"Isn't this nice?" she asked, leading Inukimi to the base of a newly planted tree. "Much better than the cave."
Inukimi squinted against the sunlight, then curled up against Kagome, placing her head in her lap.
Epithet
"Ya finally decided to join us?" His tone was teasing, but Kagome couldn't help but wince at Inuyasha's jibe.
It had been a month since she'd first discovered Sesshoumaru's mother, and now that the garden had been rebuilt, Kagome's visits with Inukimi had shifted from the middle of the night to late afternoon.
"I've been helping Sesshoumaru with something," she said evasively.
"With what?" Inuyasha glanced over his shoulder, and Sesshoumaru used his splintered attention to land a hit on his leg, flipping his brother onto his back.
"Those who cannot block simple attacks do not have the luxury of having their questions answered."
Nonpareil
"It's nothing bad, is it?" Shippou asked later, a look of slight concern on his face.
Kagome ruffled his hair as she walked by, in the middle of restocking her paints. "Of course not."
He was still skeptical, but she saw his shoulders relax. "Good. I like being here," he said, as if her unhappiness would be cause enough to leave. "Sesshoumaru-sama lets me sleep with him when you're busy."
Kagome handed him a paintbrush, letting him test out the new batch. If he'd been human, she might've worried about attachment issues, especially with the loss of his parents, but youkai had a different set of rules when it came to found family.
How long had Shippou considered Sesshoumaru pack?
Indoctrinate
"You're going to make Sesshoumaru jealous, you know."
Inukimi was braiding her hair again, curled up against her side, her claws freshly manicured. The female youkai huffed but didn't look up, Sesshoumaru simply raising a brow from across the garden.
"Don't you want her to bond with you?" Kagome asked.
"She is calm and healthy. That is all that matters."
"You didn't answer the question," she said, shifting her position to keep her feet from going numb.
Golden eyes considered her for a moment, then slid to his mother. "We were not that close before, miko. It is of little consequence now."
"Did you want to be?"
Kibosh
He never had the chance to answer, Jaken interrupting their conversation to drag Sesshoumaru away—apparently Inuyasha was getting into with some of the soldiers—but Kagome wasn't about to let this go.
Especially with how Sesshoumaru's hand grazed his mother's hair as he walked by.
"He's not fooling anyone, is he?"
Inukimi was busying herself with tying off the ends of Kagome's braid, but she hadn't pulled away from Sesshoumaru's touch.
Progress.
"Even if you don't get better, he can still be your friend, right?"
In a moment of clarity, Inukimi met her gaze, and Kagome caught a glimpse of the daiyoukai's former self.
"The wind was my friend."
Ad Hoc
Kagome held her tongue, willing her to elaborate, but Inukimi turned her face to the trees, watching the leaves rustle.
Putting a hand over hers, Kagome gave her a soft smile. "I'm sure the wind is still your friend."
It was the wrong thing to say.
Inukimi became frantic, chest heaving as she raked her claws through her hair, silver strands tangled between her fingers.
"No no no—" She tore at her clothes next, as if she couldn't stand the feel of them against her skin. "—the wind is gone!"
Kagome sought to calm her, to refocus her attention, but the daiyoukai was already transforming.
Paradox
"Kagome!"
The warning came too late, Inukimi's massive paw catching her side and throwing her across the garden.
She hit the ground with an audible thunk, groaning as she rolled. Youki built up, and she attempted to get to her feet—she wouldn't attack, but she couldn't afford for Inukimi to land another hit either.
But the attack never came.
Vision swimming, Kagome caught a glimpse of silver fur, another inuyoukai standing over her, teeth bared.
"S-Sesshoumaru—" Gasping, she reached for him. "Don't—" But he was already forcing his mother back, the air saturated with poison as their snarls swirled in harmony.
Galumph
Ignoring the pain in her side, Kagome slowly stood up, steadying herself against Sesshoumaru's front leg. He growled in warning, and she stayed close, just in case.
Inukimi's fur stood on end, golden eyes frantic as her muzzle darted around, trying to distinguish which one of them was the more significant threat.
Kagome held a hand up to her but was ignored, Inukimi wobbling away before swiping at the nearest tree.
It was their first encounter all over again.
She longed to get closer, but Sesshoumaru lowered his head, keeping his eyes on his mother as he ushered them back towards the citadel.

136. "I wish that he understood how much I care for him."
137. "Civilian! He fell asleep in my lap last night, like totally zooted. It was so cute, but also very tempting. I stuck a french fry up his nose." "Wow. Did he wake up then?" "Yeah, I am sorta kidnapped right now..."

142. "We are stuck in a maze, how can you be so joyful?"
143. "Celebrate Hero, eat your cake, party into the night... but just know, I will be back."
144. "Call 911!" "Why?" "I stubbed my toe."
145. "Your jawline looks like it was gauzed over in lard." "It looks better than your hay for hair."
146. "You're my best friend." "Villain? Are you on drugs?"
147. "Lay him there and leave him. Let the rats dine on him."
148. "The point of the cow suit?" "Oh, uh, I was at a Halloween parade. You know, for children."
149. "I-i never wanted to hurt you." "I know, I wanted you to, so I allowed it."
150. "Favorite movie?" "Your death." "Ooo never heard of it, let's watch it." "*groans* Oh my gosh, you are stupid."
151. "Being a flutist is my only superpower. And being modest apparently."
152. "Your head will join my collection if yoi don't watch out."
153. "Hey, hey! Wake up, buddy. It's just a nightmare."
154. "Meh head hurts." "Yeah, you hit it pretty hard."
155. "Let's go for a ride." "On that yellow miniature school bus?" "It's a ranger you idiot."
156. "No painkillers, no bandages, perfect environment for infection to settle... I'm just gonna leave you here Villain."
157. "I save you and this is how you repay me? A prison?"
158. "What are you doing?" "Climbing a tree? No Hero, I am breaking into your house to kidnap you."
159. "I formally apologize."
160. "Of all places, Hero, you had to teleport us to a desert. A DESERT."
161. "Supervillain won't stop unless we team up." "I don't think our alliance will stop them, I think it'll just make them angrier."
162. "Stop singing or I will blow this place until even the last atom is broken into itty-bitty molecules!" "That... that is scientifically impossible."

169. "You look lonely. Want some hot coco?"
170. "It is negative million out there and you expect me to come in toasty warm after fixing your power?"
171. "Are you sick?" "Yeh." "Come on in then."
172. "Civilian, don't even bother trying to save him."
173. "We have a breach!"
174. "What makes a villain's life less important than your's?"
175. "Enjoy your soup." "You poisoned it." "And you're delusional, eat up."
176. "I hate 99% of the population." "According to a meme I found, you are therefore a cat."
177. "Don't overuse your powers."
178. "This is just an unfortunate event."
179. "You look so cute when you are sleepy and barely conscious."
180. "His fever is rising."
181. "Save her, leave me. I'll-i'll get out of this somehow."
182. "Sometimes self-sacrifice isn't noble, it's selfish."
183. "You are so funny that I need my inhaler to kill you with." "That sentence was so discombobulated that I am leaving."
184. "Just for your information, I hate oranges but love grapes."
185. "Walking down the stairs shouldn't be a momental effort." "You broke both your legs."
186. "You just destroyed my life's work, don't expect me to give you a huge bear hug."
187. "Is it true that you have telekinesis?" "Yes, why?" "Go steal me a donut."
188. "You are so incredibly touch starved, Villain." "Mmm." "Tired? Go ahead and sleep, I'm here."
189. "This is for your own good, I promise."
190. "I'm cold."
191. "I don't want to move and you can't make me."
192. "I AM RETIRED! YOU DON'T NEED TO CONTINUE TO SEND ME PAMPHLETS OF THE HOTTEST HERO OF THE YEAR!"
193. "He's unconscious." "That tired, huh." "No, he passed out from blood loss."
194. "I want a kitten."
195. "I'm no scared of you, so stop acting like I am."
196. "He isn't dangerous, just scared."
197. "They won't be going anywhere for a long, long time."
198. "Hero? Hero? Oh my goodness, please wake up."
199. "Life is too short for pleasures."
200. "I hope you are happy, in the end."

IV
1.  O crystal heart! I the Serpent clasp Thee; I drive home mine head into the central core of Thee, O God my beloved.
2.  Even as on the resounding wind-swept heights of Mitylene some god-like woman casts aside the lyre, and with her locks aflame as an aureole, plunges into the wet heart of the creation, so I, O Lord my God!
3.  There is a beauty unspeakable in this heart of corruption, where the flowers are aflame.
4.  Ah me! but the thirst of Thy joy parches up this throat, so that I cannot sing.
5.  I will make me a little boat of my tongue, and explore the unknown rivers. It may be that the everlasting salt may turn to sweetness, and that my life may be no longer athirst.
6.  O ye that drink of the brine of your desire, ye are nigh to madness! Your torture increaseth as ye drink, yet still ye drink. Come up through the creeks to the fresh water; I shall be waiting for you with my kisses.
7.  As the bezoar-stone that is found in the belly of the cow, so is my lover among lovers.
8.  O honey boy! Bring me Thy cool limbs hither! Let us sit awhile in the orchard, until the sun go down! Let us feast on the cool grass! Bring wine, ye slaves, that the cheeks of my boy may flush red.
9.  In the garden of immortal kisses, O thou brilliant One, shine forth! Make Thy mouth an opium-poppy, that one kiss is the key to the infinite sleep and lucid, the sleep of Shi-loh-am.
10.  In my sleep I beheld the Universe like a clear crystal without one speck.
11.  There are purse-proud penniless ones that stand at the door of the tavern and prate of their feats of wine-bibbing.
12.  There are purse-proud penniless ones that stand at the door of the tavern and revile the guests.
13.  The guests dally upon couches of mother-of-pearl in the garden; the noise of the foolish men is hidden from them.
14.  Only the inn-keeper feareth lest the favour of the king be withdrawn from him.
15.  Thus spake the Magister V.V.V.V.V. unto Adonai his God, as they played together in the starlight over against the deep black pool that is in the Holy Place of the Holy House beneath the Altar of the Holiest One.
16.  But Adonai laughed, and played more languidly.
17.  Then the scribe took note, and was glad. But Adonai had no fear of the Magician and his play.
For it was Adonai who had taught all his tricks to the Magician.
18.  And the Magister entered into the play of the Magician. When the Magician laughed he laughed; all as a man should do.
19.  And Adonai said: Thou art enmeshed in the web of the Magician. This He said subtly, to try him.
20.  But the Magister gave the sign of the Magistry, and laughed back on Him: O Lord, O beloved, did these fingers relax on Thy curls, or these eyes turn away from Thine eye?
21.  And Adonai delighted in him exceedingly.
22.  Yea, O my master, thou art the beloved of the Beloved One; the Bennu Bird is set up in Philæ not in vain.
23.  I who was the priestess of Ahathoor rejoice in your love. Arise, O Nile-God, and devour the holy place of the Cow of Heaven! Let the milk of the stars be drunk up by Sebek the dweller of Nile!
24.  Arise, O serpent Apep, Thou art Adonai the beloved one! Thou art my darling and my lord, and Thy poison is sweeter than the kisses of Isis the mother of the Gods!
25.  For Thou art He! Yea, Thou shalt swallow up Asi and Asar, and the children of Ptah. Thou shalt pour forth a flood of poison to destroy the works of the Magician. Only the Destroyer shall devour Thee; Thou shalt blacken his throat, wherein his spirit abideth. Ah, serpent Apep, but I love Thee!
26.  My God! Let Thy secret fang pierce to the marrow of the little secret bone that I have kept against the Day of Vengeance of Hoor-Ra. Let Kheph-Ra sound his sharded drone! let the jackals of Day and Night howl in the wilderness of Time! let the Towers of the Universe totter, and the guardians hasten away! For my Lord hath revealed Himself as a mighty serpent, and my heart is the blood of His body.
27.  I am like a love-sick courtesan of Corinth. I have toyed with kings and captains, and made them my slaves. To-day I am the slave of the little asp of death; and who shall loosen our love?
28.  Weary, weary! saith the scribe, who shall lead me to the sight of the Rapture of my master?
29.  The body is weary and the soul is sore weary and sleep weighs down their eyelids; yet ever abides the sure consciousness of ecstasy, unknown, yet known in that its being is certain. O Lord, be my helper, and bring me to the bliss of the Beloved!
30.  I came to the house of the Beloved, and the wine was like fire that flieth with green wings through the world of waters.
31.  I felt the red lips of nature and the black lips of perfection. Like sisters they fondled me their little brother; they decked me out as a bride; they mounted me for Thy bridal chamber.
32.  They fled away at Thy coming; I was alone before Thee.
33.  I trembled at Thy coming, O my God, for Thy messenger was more terrible than the Death-star.
34.  On the threshold stood the fulminant figure of Evil, the Horror of emptiness, with his ghastly eyes like poisonous wells. He stood, and the chamber was corrupt; the air stank. He was an old and gnarled fish more hideous than the shells of Abaddon.
35.  He enveloped me with his demon tentacles; yea, the eight fears took hold upon me.
36.  But I was anointed with the right sweet oil of the Magister; I slipped from the embrace as a stone from the sling of a boy of the woodlands.
37.  I was smooth and hard as ivory; the horror gat no hold. Then at the noise of the wind of Thy coming he was dissolved away, and the abyss of the great void was unfolded before me.
38.  Across the waveless sea of eternity Thou didst ride with Thy captains and Thy hosts; with Thy chariots and horsemen and spearmen didst Thou travel through the blue.
39.  Before I saw Thee Thou wast already with me; I was smitten through by Thy marvellous spear.
40.  I was stricken as a bird by the bolt of the thunderer; I was pierced as the thief by the Lord of the Garden.
41.  O my Lord, let us sail upon the sea of blood!
42.  There is a deep taint beneath the ineffable bliss; it is the taint of generation.
43.  Yea, though the flower wave bright in the sunshine, the root is deep in the darkness of earth.
44.  Praise to thee, O beautiful dark earth, thou art the mother of a million myriads of myriads of flowers.
45.  Also I beheld my God, and the countenance of Him was a thousandfold brighter than the lightning. Yet in his heart I beheld the slow and dark One, the ancient one, the devourer of His children.
46.  In the height and the abyss, O my beautiful, there is no thing, verily, there is no thing at all, that is not altogether and perfectly fashioned for Thy delight.
47.  Light cleaveth unto Light, and filth to filth; with pride one contemneth another. But not Thou, who art all, and beyond it; who art absolved from the Division of the Shadows.
48.  O day of Eternity, let Thy wave break in foamless glory of sapphire upon the laborious coral of our making!
49.  We have made us a ring of glistening white sand, strewn wisely in the midst of the Delightful Ocean.
50.  Let the palms of brilliance flower upon our island; we shall eat of their fruit, and be glad.
51.  But for me the lustral water, the great ablution, the dissolving of the soul in that resounding abyss.
52.  I have a little son like a wanton goat; my daughter is like an unfledged eaglet; they shall get them fins, that they may swim.
53.  That they may swim, O my beloved, swim far in the warm honey of Thy being, O blessed one, O boy of beatitude!
54.  This heart of mine is girt about with the serpent that devoureth his own coils.
55.  When shall there be an end, O my darling, O when shall the Universe and the Lord thereof be utterly swallowed up?
56.  Nay! who shall devour the Infinite? who shall undo the Wrong of the Beginning?
57.  Thou criest like a white cat upon the roof of the Universe; there is none to answer Thee.
58.  Thou art like a lonely pillar in the midst of the sea; there is none to behold Thee, O Thou who beholdest all!
59.  Thou dost faint, thou dost fail, thou scribe; cried the desolate Voice; but I have filled thee with a wine whose savour thou knowest not.
60.  It shall avail to make drunken the people of the old gray sphere that rolls in the infinite Far-off; they shall lap the wine as dogs that lap the blood of a beautiful courtesan pierced through by the Spear of a swift rider through the city.
61.  I too am the Soul of the desert; thou shalt seek me yet again in the wilderness of sand.
62.  At thy right hand a great lord and a comely; at thy left hand a woman clad in gossamer and gold and having the stars in her hair. Ye shall journey far into a land of pestilence and evil; ye shall encamp in the river of a foolish city forgotten; there shall ye meet with Me.
63.  There will I make Mine habitation; as for bridal will I come bedecked and anointed; there shall the Consummation be accomplished.
64.  O my darling, I also wait for the brilliance of the hour ineffable, when the universe shall be like a girdle for the midst of the ray of our love, extending beyond the permitted end of the endless One.
65.  Then, O thou heart, will I the serpent eat thee wholly up; yea, I will eat thee wholly up.
Love is the law, love under will.

Egg Hunt
Before You Read: Here’s a little something inspired by the snapchat easter egg hunt for all the boys <3
word count: 1348
Tumblr media
Joel stands in front of the living room TV faces his guest, his girlfriend Izzy sitting on the floor beside the large couch waiting boredly for Joel to explain the game to the rest of the couples so they can just get on to the actual hunt.
Richard sits with Tracy on the single couch, Zabdiel and Elle sit with Erick and Noe on the large couch whilst Chris lays with his head in Alondra's lap on the floor. Her fingers running through his hair and he momentarily closes his eyes enjoying how relaxed it makes him feel.
"Ok so we're doing this in couples, so one of you guys open the Snapchat app," Joel says already holding his phone in hand.
Richard, Chris, Elle, and Noe all take out there phones opening the app. "So in the maps, you will see there's an egg hunt going on right now, basically you just travel around and collect these virtual eggs, I say we give it about 3 hours and whoever collects the most eggs wins" Joel smiles at his friends.
It's currently 8 so his plan is to have everyone meet back at the house around 11ish
Richard frowns "yeah uh why would we do this?"
"Winners get 60 dollars" Joel sighs and all the couples stand to their feet.
————-
"Turn left," Zabdiel tells Elle staring down at her Snapchat map, "how much further?" She asks "just keep driving we're close."
"Ok make sure to tap the egg-"
"Yes, mi amor I know" Zabdiel collects the egg "ok turn around I saw a few more a couple of blocks back" Elle makes a U-Turn just as her favorite song, Star by Bazzi comes on the radio.
She starts singing along to the words when she pulls up to a red light she fists her hand like she's holding a mic. "There we are, smokin' on rolled cigars, Hollywood Boulevard" she sings
"I can see it all now" Zabdiel joins in only knowing the lyrics because of all the times she's played it while dancing around their shared apartment.
"You could be bigger than your fantasies, Standing right next to me" Elle opens her arms as she sings.
"I see it all now You're a star" they sing together.
Zabdiel stays smiling at Elle even when she's focused back to driving while sing "ah ah ah ah ah, ah aha ah"  they both burst out laughing before Zabdiel looks down at Elle's phone.
"Oh we passed them"
————
Richards speeds down the roads with Tracy telling him directions to the next egg that is until she spots a convenience store still opened, hanging outside are egg-shaped piñatas. "Stop here," she tells him.
"Baby we've only found 11 eggs," he tells her "but Aaliyah would love that tomorrow!" She tells him.
with a sigh but a smile, he pulls into the parking lot of the convenience store and they both hop out of the car. The egg piñatas are different types of designed Easter eggs "what color we feeling?" Richard asks.
"Pink obviously, that's Aaliyah's favorite" Richard points a finger winking at you "You right" he leans to the side to look into the convenience store doorway to the owner sitting at the register.
"How much are these?" He questions
"30" the lady shouts loud enough for Richard to hear.  He nods handing the money to Tracy so she can pay whilst Richard takes the piñata to his car.
As she's making her way to the register she spots Easter baskets filled with different types of goodies.
"How much are these?" Tracy asks her eyes set on the basket that has a little stuffed unicorn inside. "15," the lady says.
Tracy hands the owner the money for the piñata before taking out her card to pay for the basket.
Walking back to the car a smile spreads onto Richard's face, he's leaning against the passenger door but pushes himself off it when Tracy gets closer.
"You like spoiling her huh?"
Tracy smiles "she deserves it, she's a good girl" Richard leans forward meeting Tracy in a soft but passion filled kiss.
——————
"Wait I think you were supposed to turn a couple of streets back," Erick says.
"Erick that's the 3rd time you make me miss it" Noe sighs
"I'm confused" he whines making Noe laugh softly "ok let's switch"
"I don't want to drive," he tells her.
"Boy, you-" she cuts herself off, sighing.
"How many eggs have we found?"
"5," he tells her, "and what place are we in?" She questions
It takes Erick a while to find where the leader board is. "Last," He says slowly.
Noe curls her lips into her mouth "so you wanna get something to eat instead?"
"Yes please" Erick smiles at his girlfriend.
——————
Chris' head bops along to the beat of a song Alondra picked out, his fingers tapping against the steering wheel.
"Who's in the lead mami?" Chris questions.
Alondra pulls up the leaderboard on Chris' map, "take a wild guess" she says looking to her boyfriend.
"Joel Pimentel," Chris says, Alondra nods "ding ding ding ding"
"How many eggs do they got?"
"51," she tells him, Chris raises an eyebrow "and  us?" "43," she tells him.
Chris looks down at the clock to see then have a little over 30 minutes left "think we can beat them?" A look of determination in his eyes makes Alondra smile.
"No doubt"
—————
"How many eggs ahead of us?" Joel asks Izzy, "about 4," she tells him.
Joel looks down at the clock to see they have about 15 minutes before the 2-hour time limit of up.
"We need a golden egg" when he pulls up to a red light he looks over to his girlfriend, "it's about 10 minutes away" she sighs falling back against her seat.
"We on this baby, give me directions"
Izzy tells Joel where to turn and what streets will be faster, getting them there a lot quicker.
As Joel nears the destination they both start getting a little too overexcited, "so close so close so clo-" izzy collets the egg adding 5 points to their count.
Joel holds up his hand asking for a high five which Izzy happily gives him. Joel clasps his hand over hers as he says "ok check the leaderboard.
Izzy does as she's told frowning when she still sees Chris' bitmoji in the lead.
"They're still ahead"
Joel looks at the time "we got seven minutes, give me the next egg destination"
————-
"They're still collecting eggs," Tracy says watching Joel's moving bitmoji, "you guys are still in the lead but they're very close," Elle tells Alondra over FaceTime.
Noe ended up texting Tracy and Elle to tell them she and Erick gave up and we're getting something to eat, the other couples thought that sounded like a good idea and soon joined them.
"Why are you guys rooting for them only?" Izzy says through FaceTime with Erick.
"Because Joel is the most competitive person ever and he needs to be taken down," Elle says.
"I'm nothing but nice to you Elle" Joel shouts.
"Come on Chris I know you can drive faster than that" Richard says. "I thought you wanted to be a NASCAR diver?"
"Shut up," Chris tells his friend.
"he's being a safe driver" Alondra defends her boyfriend.
"Joel And Izzy are in the lead now," Tracy says
"Chris hurry the fuck up" Alondra tell Chris.
"Y'all there's one minute left" Tracy reminds the 2 couples. Zabdiel is looking over her should as he munches on some fries that Noe is stealing as she tries to shoot them into Erick's mouth from across the table.
"Chris" Alondra sounds excitedly just as the clock strikes 11:15 and Chris bitmoji leads on the leaderboard with 5 more eggs then Joel's.
"We got a golden egg!!" Alondra tells her friends and everyone cheers for the couple.
"Y'all suck," Izzy says before laughing softly and pointing the camera in the direction of Joel who's leaning his forehead against the steering wheel.
"Pay up joelito!!" Chris teases.

With Love, From Me to You - iii of iv [R.T.]
Tumblr media
Summary: One-hundred ways to say ‘I love you’ over twenty-eight years.
Words: 3,387
Warnings: Implied smut.
Note: This follows both Bohemian Rhapsody’s and real-life events (generally for dates, minor plot etc.), picture whichever Roger you fancy! The title is taken from ‘From Me To You’ by The Beatles.
--
51. (1977):
“Were you seriously just checking out that woman’s legs?” It wasn’t much to ask, you thought, to have a little attention from your boyfriend whom you haven’t seen for weeks.
But apparently, said boyfriend was too engrossed in the leg length of a party attendee.
“Her legs were longer than Brian’s, how could I not look?”
“I noticed too, but that doesn’t mean I stare when I’ve got my girlfriend sitting on my lap!” You screech and ignore his childlike poking to get a hold of your cigarette.
When Roger goes quiet, you look to the left to find him smiling affectionately at you. You raise your eyebrows, waiting to see what he wants.
“Can I hold your hand?”
His cheeky grin wins you over.
--
52. (1977):
The day seems to drag on and on as the rain slides down the windows of the recording studio while Queen tries to lay down tracks for their latest album.
Roger sighs and takes the headphones off after having finished his harmonies and watches Freddie put his own on, ready to do just as Roger had been.
“Taylor, your girlfriend is here,” the sound technician drones into the microphone without sparing you a glance.
Roger barrels through the door of the control room, much to the protests of his bandmates, grinning widely.
“I thought you had work today?” He says, giving you a surprised kiss.
“Got let off early. Thought you could use a distraction,” you smile. Roger returns it, immensely happy to get out of the studio if only for a brief period.
--
53. (1978):
Your head pops out of the duvet, peering at Roger with puffy eyes.
“I’m sorry that I made you cry,” Roger holds up the flowers he nicked from the neighbour’s yard which were really weeds.
“It’s not your fault,” you wipe at your red nose, “I’m hormonal on my period.”
“I really shouldn’t have eaten the last of that chocolate, I’ll buy you more, I swear.” He puts the ‘flowers’ on the bedside table and crawls into the bed.
He pulls you onto his lap, cradling you much like one would a baby.
“You will?”
“I’ll get you two,” he smacks a kiss against your cheek.
--
54. (1978):
Your hand moves across Roger’s forehead as he rests himself in your lap.
“One more chapter.”
“Roger, you’re falling asleep.” You can’t help but smile at the sleepy man who continuously burrows his nose into your thigh as you turn the pages of your book.
“It’s because you’re rubbing my head. You’re to blame here.”
You remove your hand but the fussy Roger grabs it and puts it right back to where it was.
“I think you’re tired because you just got back from tour. But if you insist, one more only.”
The blonde on your lap is suddenly quiet, asleep.
--
55. (1978):
You and Roger lay side by side late into the night when neither of you can sleep and this usually resorts to a game of questions until one of you falls under.
“Do you ever think about having kids?” He asks one insomnia-filled night. It wasn’t uncommon for questions to turn to the future, but the topic of children was yet to appear.
“With you?”
“With whomever,” he gestures in the air and you can feel the breeze on your face as his hand lands on the bed again.
“I’ve never really liked them if I’m honest.”
“Oh,” he says, sounding dejected.
“I think I’d like kids with you though.” You roll onto your side to look at his shining eyes.
“You would?”
“Yes. Could you imagine tiny Roger’s running around? We might prematurely age Brian.”
“Can we start now?” Despite the darkness, you can see his profile shift as he wiggles his eyebrows.
“We can practise how not to get pregnant.”
“Deal,” he rolls you to your back and climbs on top of you, laughing.
--
56. (1979):
“Have you ever thought about getting married?”
“Are you asking me if I want to get married to you?” You roll onto your stomach and prop yourself on your elbows, looking at Roger as he does the same.
“Yeah, I guess I am.”
“And you decided that four o’clock in the morning would be a good time to ask?” His tongue-in-teeth grin is all you need to know.
“Seemed like as good a time as any.”
“Alright.” Your hand subconsciously begins to trace around your ring finger where one was yet to appear.
“That a yes?”
“Seems so,” you mock and giggle when he bites your lip, dragging you back down to the mattress of a hotel in Hamburg.
--
57. (1979):
Brian has been graceful enough to lend you his camera after you left your own at home, and you were using every moment of your day with Roger to snap photos of the sights (which mainly included your fiancée in them).
“Love, you’re clogging up the flow of traffic, we’re going to get yelled at.”
“Yeah, but look at all of this, doesn’t it excite you?” Your hands make a sweeping motion over the city. You can’t decide what to focus on, the stores and markets Tokyo have to offer are unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.
“Seeing you excited makes me happy. Now come on,” he takes your hand, “let’s go get ripped off by a stall owner.”
--
58. (1979):
“Come on, let’s go outside.” Roger gives you a gentle tap on the arse.
“Why?”
“Because you’re about two seconds away from eating that pencil you’re chewin’.” You’ve decided to quit smoking after years of doing so, and it wasn’t proving as easy as you thought. The pencil acts as a placebo and aided a bit, aside from the fact that you’ll need a new one soon and probably dental work.
“What’s the point in this walk? It’s chilly.” You drag your feet along the concrete of the footpath that’s damp from afternoon showers.
“It’ll keep your mind off it. Besides,” he raises his eyebrows, “you get to look at my perky arse when I walk.”
Roger turns where he is leading you and presses a kiss to your cheek.
“Could you get your cigarette breath out of my face, please?”
“You’ve got cigarette breath too, I don’t know what you’re complaining about.” He plants an even sloppier kiss for effect.
“Not for long anymore, trust me, next time you’re home from tour I’ll be minty fresh.”
“Is that a promise?” He tilts his head, and you could compare him to a puppy if you thought about it.
“More like a threat.”
--
59. (1980):
Freddie has taken it upon himself to be the EMCee of the event and has decided that people have been sitting around for far too long and not having any fun. A soft, romantic ballad that neither you nor Roger knew plays from speakers, clearly showing that you both were not in charge of the music. It’s time for your first dance as a married couple.
“Can I have this dance?” Roger glances up at you from where you just finished talking to guests at another table.
“Thought you’d never ask, Mrs Taylor.”
--
60. (1980):
After sneaking out of your own wedding, you and Roger stand in a conveniently unlocked, large, supply cupboard.
“You sure you want to do this?” You grin, leaning on your husband’s shoulder, “we’re the bride and groom, I think we’ll be missed.”
“Who cares?” Roger bites his lip and smirks. “It’s our wedding, after all.”
“You’re going to have to help me with my dress.”
--
61. (1980):
Whilst in the South of France on your honeymoon, Roger decides on both of your behalf’s that it is important for him to buy a Ferrari.
When you get the phone call that Roger just trashed his car, your fear-riddled mind thinks that he’s been gravely injured. That clearly isn’t the case because your husband is the one talking to you and still swearing in that high-pitched tone he affects when he’s angry.
“You’ve crashed your car?”
“No, I didn’t crash, the bloody things shit itself and caught on fire!” You hear a thump from the other end of the line and can picture Roger kicking the phone box in frustration.
“Are you hurt?”
“No, but my Ferrari is.”
He sounds more upset about the car rather than the fact that he could have died.
“Roger, I don’t care about the car, just about whether you’re okay. Where are you?”
During the time it took him to tell you where he was you had already grabbed the rental car keys and ran your fingers over the teeth of the Mercedes one anxiously.
“Stay there. I’m coming to get you.”
--
62. (1980):
A bulky letter awaits Roger as he returns to his hotel room after soundcheck for the concert in Pittsburgh. He picks up the phone to call home, knowing with the time difference you’d be the only one left awake in the house at this time.
“Hey, love.”
“Did you get my letter?” Too electrified to contain yourself, you ask before you greet him, worrying that the letter you gave to Brian to give to Roger somehow got lost in the woes of international travel. You gave specific instructions, that he was under no circumstances allowed to open, and it was to be handed off when Roger became homesick or too stressed.
“Just did, but I haven’t read it yet. Should I now?”
“No!” You screech. “You have to wait until I’m off the phone.”
“So should I hang up now?”
“You have to tell me about your day first,” you know he can hear your teasing tone.
Roger begins telling you about his day, holding the phone between ear and shoulder, discreetly opening the letter and watching polaroids slip out with a smirk.
--
63. (1981):
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” you wince, “my stomach just feels a bit off. That’s all.”
“Would you like me to rub your stomach?”
“I’m not one of Freddie’s cats.” Even with those words, you lie between Roger’s legs, back to chest so his hands flit comfortingly across your stomach.
--
64. (1981):
“I figured out why my stomach has been weird.”
“I told you not to eat that old take out. Didn’t you learn from that disaster years ago?” Roger barely spares you a look from the magazine he is reading.
“You’re going to be a father in the near future.”
His eyebrows hit his hairline as you sit next to him.
“I’m what?”
“You, me, parents.” You punctuate each word with a slight kiss.
“Parents,” he trails off, eyes stuck on the inconspicuous bump under your dressing gown.
--
65. (1981):
You were practically falling asleep next to Roger on the lounge at Freddie’s party despite the raucous and debauched atmosphere.
You adjust yourself against his shoulder and brace yourself as another server comes to offer you champagne once again.
“She’s not drinking tonight.” Roger easily dismisses the servers but takes a flute for himself.
“You pregnant or something, Y/N?” You look up at Brian who has a knowing look on his face.
You have a look of elation as you glance at him, causing the band members around you, family really, and their wives to all laugh.
--
66. (1981):
“Look after your Mum, okay?” You struggle to hold back a laugh as Roger gets down to his knees in the middle of the busy airport. He speaks directly to your stomach and his lashes flutter when he feels movement under his placed hand.
“They’ve still got two months before we meet them, I’ll be fine, Roger.”
“I know, I just worry.” His brows draw together as he looks up at you.
“I’ve got plenty of help, and Mum and Chrissy will be a wealth of knowledge. Believe me, this baby is well looked after, and so am I.”
You wrap one arm around his neck and your free hand over his, still resting against your stomach. You had thought that the constant touching on Roger’s behalf would drive you up the wall, and it has to a certain extent, but now you knew you are going to miss it.
“I’m still calling every chance I get.”
“You’d better.” You share a kiss before he pulls away with a smirk after the boys call out to him.
--
67. (1981):
“Watch your step.”
Roger helps you up the stairs to the nursery with a careful hand on your lower back. Typically, him fussing annoys the living daylights out of you but because you knew what he was doing today it was a welcome fussing.
“What do you think?” His hand uncovers your eyes.
“You did all of this?”
You were shipped out of the house to spend some time with Mary while Roger, with the help of his band members decorated and put together the flat-pack furniture you’d been seeing arrive the previous days.
The room has everything a baby could possibly need, and the change table was already stocked with enough nappies, wipes and baby powder to sink a battleship.
“Well, I did get some help from Fred on the decorating and Brian and John with the cot and such.” He blushes and rubs the back of his neck.
“But it was your idea.”
“All mine.” You wrap your arms around his neck and sway with him gently, kissing his stubbly jawline every so often.
“I think the baby will be very happy here.”
“Yeah?”
“Yes,” you smile whimsically, “especially with this.” You walk over to the cot and pick up the stuffed lion you had given him all those years ago.
“How could I forget about him? He’s important to us.”
--
68. (1981):
“You did well.”
“Only well?” You grin down at the tiny, fragile figure in your arms you have given life to. Roger passed her back once she started to fall asleep, and she now rests with her hand tucked in a fist under a rosy cheek.
“She’s perfect already, I’d say you did amazing.” His eyes are glistening with unbridled joy as he glances down at the yet-to-be-named Baby Taylor.
“Yeah, I don’t think we need anything for Christmas this year,” you joke.
--
69. (1982):
You and Roger practically went into hibernation mode after you had Zoe, and haven’t seen the band since before she was born. They all sit in your living room, passing her back and forth between each other and cooing every time she lets out a little grunt or a happy noise.
“Would you look at that, the little darling looks like Rog.” Freddie notices as he looks down at the baby currently snuggled in John’s arms.
“She’ll have his chin, I bet,” John smiles at the sleeping angel.
“Oh God,” Brian moans, “another Taylor running around.” You can see he doesn’t mean it as he has a small smile on his face when Zoe wraps her finger around his tightly.
Roger feels slightly defensive over his new baby, but he knows Brian is just ribbing him and smirks at the taller man.
“Yeah but this one is extra important because she’s half Y/N.”
--
70. (1982):
Since she was born, Zoe hasn’t slept through an entire night, and it was beginning to take its toll on you and Roger. You both love being parents, but the intimacy you once shared is no longer the same.
The intimacy comes in quiet moments when you’re looking after the baby, and you get to watch Roger’s smiles and one-sided conversations with her. It’s an even deeper form of intimacy that only comes when you share the role of caregiver.
“Roger, I’m tired, I’m not really in the mood.”
“Want to watch the telly instead?” Roger pulls back from where he was sucking on your neck and settles next to you, already grabbing for the remote.
“Are you sure?” You worry your bottom lip.
You miss being in bed with Roger, and the way he makes you feel when he’s pressed deep inside you, but you’re just so tired.
“I’m not going to make you do anything you don’t want to.” He plants a kiss on your cheek and positions himself so you can lay on his chest, hand rubbing his hip.
--
71. (1982):
Roger pays an extravagant amount for flowers in the shop down the street from the restaurant where your work dinner is taking place. He knows that no expensive bunch of flowers can make up for being late to something that means a lot to you.
“Love! I’m so, so, sorry,” he tries to catch his breath as he finds you, about to get into the car.
“I really didn’t mean to-”
“No, I get it. Busy being a rock star and all,” you don’t even look at him as you unlock the doors, handing him the keys to drive.
“It’s not that at all,” he pleads, “I swear I didn’t mean to be late.”
“Whatever, let’s just go home.”
--
72. (1983):
“Look, Zoe, there’s your daddy,” you coo to the toddler waddling beside you.
“Hi, Bubs!” He calls to her. You and Roger barely stand three feet apart, arms extended in case she falls over. He missed her first steps but won’t miss her fully walking on her own as her little feet stomp over to him to wrap around his knees.
“Hello,” you smile as Roger scoops the giggling girl into his arms.
“I’m so glad to be back,” Roger sighs. You wrap one arm around his shoulder in a hug and let him guide you out of the busy airport.
--
73. (1983):
“Say it, say ‘dada’, Zoe.” You watch Roger with wide eyes as he moves his head side to side with every syllable.
“She’s not going to say it if you tell her to.”
“She will just you wait. Taylor women are very smart, just need some persuasion, that’s all.” He grabs the lion out of her hands and holds it above her fair head.
“Dada!” She finally shrieks and extends her arms to try and grab her lion back.
“See! So smart, just like her mother.”
“I’d yell too if you snatched my toy away.” You still sit down next to the pair and celebrate with them, mainly Roger, because Zoe’s too young to get why this is a big deal.
--
74. (1983):
You’re standing under the warmth of the shower spray when Roger barges into the room, raging about something or other to do with a new song.
“I’m trying to understand, Roger,” you sigh.
“I feel like I can’t tell you anything anymore,” he leans against the bathroom sink. You open the glass door of the shower with wide eyes, uncaring about your nakedness, paralysed.
“What? You’re my best friend, you absolutely can.” You grab onto his elbow when he scoffs and goes to turn away.
“I know I can. I want to, believe me. It’s just … hard.”
“It may take time, but you can tell me anything.  Surely you have to know that.” You hold out your hand and invite him into the shower.
--
75. (1983):
Roger opens his eyes with a groan as the bright mid-morning sunlight streams into the room due to your opening of the curtains and windows.
“It smells like a brewery in here, get up.” You pull back the sheets and begin to remove them, rolling Roger’s dead weight across the mattress as he isn’t making any attempt to move.
“I’m hungover,” he moans.
“Whose fault is that hm? Not mine.”
“Can’t you leave me alone for once? I don’t feel well.” He rests his palm across his forehead and looks up at you with pleading eyes. It doesn’t do anything.
“That would have worked if you didn’t throw up all over my floor at four o’clock in the morning. You’re an adult, not a five year old. You should know when you aren’t feeling well.”
“I don’t know I’m not feeling great when I’m that drunk!”
“I understand that you’re having troubles with the band but if you keep coming home drunk, you’re going to have to find somewhere else to sleep.”
“You’re going to kick me out? Of my own house?”
“I paid for half of this house too, don’t forget.”
You pause and try to take a softer tone, brushing sun-streaked golden hair out of his eyes.
“I just want to help you, Roger. You don’t want to tell me what’s wrong and I’m already worried about you. Would you like a hug?”
Roger half crawls, half wiggles his way over to you.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
For the second day of the Thelemic Holy season pathworking (March 21st e.v.) we are studying Atu XX - 'The Aeon' which corresponds to the path of Shin which connects the sephira Malkuth and Hod on the kabbalistic Tree of Life.
Todays reading is Chapter IV from Liber LXV: Liber Cordis Cincti Serpente sub figûra אדני
IV
Happy pathworking and meditations!

`~*~’
Draco collected his warmest cloak and Harry’s jacket before leading Harry out to the broom shed on the edge of the main lawn. He gave Harry his nimbus and Harry immediately swung his leg over.
“Wait,” Draco said, taking out his wand and charming a small blue-white lumos on the end of the broomstick, “So we don’t run into one another.”
“Someone could see us,” Harry said.
Draco pulled up the hood on his cloak, “One, we’re too far from the village for them to see anything. Two, I don’t care. Stories of will-o-wisps had to come from somewhere.”
“Or aliens,” Harry said.
“Aliens? As in people from foreign lands?” Draco asked.
“From space,” Harry said, pointing up with a smirk little grin.
Draco looked up at the sky, mostly obscured by clouds, “You’re joking,” but when he looked back down, Harry had already taken off.
Draco grumbled under his breath as he looked back into the shed and grabbed a broom at random and charmed another light to the end. He flew up slowly, keeping his warm fluffy cloak pulled tightly around himself as he rose, not particularly interested in being cold. He watched the distant speck of Harry’s light as he flew low and fast, weaving around the outbuildings and shrubbery with an ease that Draco had always envied but would never admit.
Draco flew higher until he could see past the faint shadow of every rolling hill outlined by glimpses of moonlight through the clouds, to the dipping line of a black horizon that he knew if he followed would take him to the sea.
Harry rounded the manor like a shot and spiralled up and up until he flattened out and swirled around right in front of Draco. His hair had been swept back by the wind but fell back around his face as soon as he slowed, and Draco laughed as Harry tried to push it back out of his eyes.
“You wouldn't think it was so funny if it was your hair,” Harry said.
Draco shuddered in horror at the thought.
Harry grinned, flying a bit closer, “Want to race?”
“With you on my fastest broom and me on one about five years older and ten times slower, yes that sounds fair,” Draco said.
“What can’t beat me?” Harry teased.
“That’s not what I said,” Draco said.
Harry peered at him, “Since when do you pass up a competition?”
“Since its bloody cold out and my cloak is not suited to racing and keeping me warm at the same time,” Draco said.
“Wanna trade?” Harry offered, plucking at his ugly puffy muggle jacket.
“No.” Draco said flatly.
Harry grinned, “I bet it would look great on you.”
“The only thing that would look good on is a bonfire,” Draco said.
Harry studied him thoughtfully, “You’re doing this for me, aren’t you. You don’t have to. You could go back inside. I won’t be long.”
“I ate far too many sweets. A bit of fresh air is just what I needed,” Draco said with a flush of embarrassment.
Harry nodded, “Yeah. I think…. I think I’m gonna to do another lap.”
“Go on then,” Draco waved him off.
He watched Harry do a wronski feint down towards the dark grounds, doing a corkscrew at the same time as if it weren’t dangerous enough to begin with. After a while, and realising Harry was going to do more than just one lap, Draco straightened his back and pried one hand off the broom to cast a warming charm of himself in addition to the ones embedded in the cloak.
Just as he thought he should have taken Harry up on his offer to go back inside, the barmy git flew back up to him.
Harry drifted to his side so they nearly bumped shoulders, “I just…” his voice came out just above a whisper, “I just want to be normal for once in my life.”
“You’re exceedingly normal,” Draco said. “You’re so average it makes me ill.”
Harry didn’t laugh. He shifted on his broom, looking into the distance rather than at Draco, “I just thought it would be easier.”
“What would be easier?” Draco asked.
“School, life...this,” Harry said.
Draco took a deep breath.
“I mean it’s not bad just- just-”
“How is this not easier than a war?” Draco asked.
“I’ve had a lot more experience with war,” Harry said.
Draco gripped the edge of his cloak.
Harry looked down at his hands.
They sat, breathing out puffs of misty white air.
“Hand,” Draco said, holding his hand out.
Harry’s brow furrowed in confusion as he let go of his broom and let Draco take his hand, holding it a bit too tightly as they drifted together.
“What?” Harry asked.
“What what?” Draco said, narrowing his eyes at Harry, “I’m quite obviously comforting you because your stupid average boring life is too exciting for you.”
Harry blinked at him.
“I mean, I understand, but we all have to figure out how to live. No one said would be fun,” Draco said. He added, feeling a bit annoyed, “It’s still massively better than a war. I was there. I remember. Normal life doesn’t give you nightmares like that.”
“You were there, huh?” Harry said, his tone waving between serious and not.
Draco frowned slightly to himself, “I might have missed a bit of the beginning.”
“Just a bit. I was eleven,” Harry said.
“The thing that got you all the points at the end of the year,” Draco said.
Harry nodded, “Professor Quirrell was possessed by Voldemort. ...I killed him with my bare hands.”
Draco squeezed Harry’s hand so hard he winced, and Draco had to force himself to loosen his grip. “What?” he breathed.
“My mum’s love, it protected me from Voldemort when I was a baby so touching Quirrel hurt him. He was already weak from being possessed. Honestly, I don’t remember most of it, probably for the best really,” Harry said flatly. “And then Dumbledore gave us enough points to win the house cup. At the time that seemed brilliant. Now it feels a bit more like giving a treat to a dog for performing well, to make sure I wouldn’t run when the time came.”
Draco pulled Harry closer, shoulder to hip to knee, they shared a line of warmth between them. He didn’t know what to say, and anything he did say would probably be wrong, so he just stayed close and hoped it was enough.
Harry looked up, “It’s starting to snow.”
Draco could just barely make out the tiny flakes as they landed on his cloak. The snow was too light to do more than join the frost on the winter brown lawns and would melt as the sun drew up into the sky.
“You like the snow, right?” Harry said.
“I do,” Draco said. He pulled his hood off, “I had a dream like this once, you know. Although it was spring and at Hogwarts and we were playing a seekers game-”
“Then how was it like this at all?” Harry asked.
Draco squeezed Harry’s hand, “This part was the same. That’s the important part. It wouldn’t be hard to make the rest true. We could have a seeker’s game when we get back to school.”
“Still wouldn’t be spring,” Harry said.
“Enjoying being contrary just because you can?”
“Yes,” Harry said starting to smile.
Draco rolled his eyes, “Well we could have seekers games all the way to spring on account of it being fun, you dullard.”
“That would be brilliant,” Harry said.
“I know, I thought of it,” Draco said.
Harry snickered, “Prat.”
“Git,” Draco returned fondly. The snow was catching in Harry’s hair, delicately balancing on the dark strands like tiny pearls of starlight and Draco wasn’t sure he had ever seen something quite so beautiful before. “The snow in your hair looks like stars,” he murmured.
Harry’s breath hitched and he lifted their joined hands and kissing the back of Draco’s hand, “Let’s go back inside.””

Quote
IV 1.

Buemi penalised twice as Toyota and Ferrari collide in Six Hours of Monza | World Endurance Championship
Ferrari AF Corse are locked in a battle for the lead with Toyota Gazoo Racing after the first two hours of the Six Hours of Monza, after two of their cars collided at the start. Hours 1-2 Monza’s round of the World Endurance Championship began with a clash between the two teams who fought for victory at Le Mans one month ago. While the number seven Toyota Gazoo Racing GR010 Hybrid of Mike Conway held the lead without any trouble, the team’s sister car piloted by Sebastien Buemi hit and spun the number 51 Ferrari 499P of Antonio Giovinazzi at the Variante del Rettifilo, sending the Le Mans-winning car and crew tumbling down the order. A quarter of an hour into the race, the Hypercar runners were negotiating slower traffic. Approaching Variante Ascari, a hasty Buemi pushed the number 777 D’station Racing Aston Martin Vantage of Satoshi Hoshino off into the barrier to the right. Hoshino’s crashed car came to a rest in the gravel, and the Safety Car was deployed for 20 minutes to clean up debris. Thankfully, Hoshino was able to walk away unhurt. After the Safety Car was withdrawn, Buemi was given a 60 second stop-and-go penalty on top of the 10-second time penalty that he was already due to serve for the collision with Giovinazzi. This took the number eight Toyota off the lead lap and out of contention for the overall lead. At the restart Mikkel Jensen in the number 93 Peugeot 9X8 pulled off a surprise by passing Conway’s Toyota to take lead the race. The long-struggling French manufacturer stayed up front throughout the rest of the first hour. Miguel Molina drove past Conway to put the number 50 Ferrari into second place. But the number 93 Peugeot missed its marks during the first pit stop and conceded its advantage. That marked a turning point in the team’s fortunes, after which the car slipped down the order. Several cars pitted under the Safety Car and cycled to the front as the race passed the two-hour mark. The number six Penske Porsche 963 of Kevin Estre held the lead followed by the number 51 Ferrari of Giovinazzi, and the two privateer-run Porsches: The number 38 Team Jota Porsche of Antonio Felix da Costa ahead of the new number 99 Proton Competition Porsche of Gianmaria Bruni. However the number seven Toyota holds the strongest position following its earlier pit stop, followed by the number 50 Ferrari. As the race entered its third house Jose Maria Lopez was at the wheel of the Toyota and Nicklas Nielsen was piloting the Ferrari. Molina and Conway’s stints ended with a hair-raising moment. Molina’s defensive driving pushed Conway onto the grass – the number 50 was given a warning for forcing the number seven off track. The number 94 Peugeot slipped down the order as Gustavo Menezes encountered difficulty getting into gear on his out lap. The number eight Toyota of Buemi fell to 12th place after its two penalties. The LMP2 class has seen some spirited driving. After a change of drivers from David Heinemeier-Hansson to Oliver Rasmussen, the number 28 Jota Oreca 07/Gibson now leads in class, followed by Team WRT’s number 31 car and United Autosports’ number 23. And at the one-third mark, the GTE Am class is led by pole-winner Sarah Bovy in the number 85 Porsche 911 RSR-19, followed by Lilou Wadoux in the number 83 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo. Ranking Rebels: The Top Ten
Tumblr media
It’s been several months now since Star Wars Rebels concluded and we learned the fates and futures of the surrogate family that lived in the halls of The Ghost. Rebellions were sparked. Sacrifices were made. There was a lot of critical theory about art. Fruit was stolen. Droids sang. Pufferpigs puffed. It made for a beautiful, if not always perfect, four year story that will become a cherished part of the Star Wars mythology.
With a new animated series on the horizon, what better time to take a look back at Rebels history. Not all episodes were created equal. For every, “World Between Worlds” there is a “Blood Sisters.” Just as I did for The Clone Wars, I plan to rank every episode of Star Wars Rebels from worst to best. As always, feedback and discussion is appreciated!
Previous Installments: 66-61, 60-51, 50-41, 40-31, 30-21, 20-11
10. Rebel Assault
youtube
The attack on the Empire’s factories on Lothal was an operation that had been building for seasons. With Hera finally receiving approval to lead a squadron of X-Wings to the grassy plains of Ezra’s homeworld, “Rebel Assault” opens up with a triumphant and brilliantly executed dogfight that Steward Lee directs to near perfection. Seeing classic Star Wars starfighters chase each other through blockades and high atmosphere is the stuff of dreams and Rebels delivers, before smartly transitioning into a tense and bleak second half. Hera’s attack fails and as a result she and Chopper are left to sneak through the locked down streets of Lothal’s capitol as Imperial forces close in around her. Lee dials back on the music and allows the episode to fall eerily quiet which does wonders in ratcheting up the unease and tension. It ends on a killer cliffhanger that opens up Rebels for an incredible final stretch of episodes and makes for a great midseason finale.
9. Fire Across the Galaxy
youtube
While it showed signs of confidence and maturity throughout its first season, it wasn’t until its first finale where Rebels finally felt like a show that had come into its own. Whether it’s the ensemble’s thrilling attempt at rescuing their friend and mentor from the clutches of The Empire, Kanan’s cathartic and wonderfully choreographed duel with The Grand Inquisitor, or the universe altering reveal of Ahsoka Tano at its conclusion, “Fire Across the Galaxy” is filled to the brim with excitement, adventure, and character. The fact that writer Simon Kinberg is able to fit as much content into a single twenty two minute episode is stunning and it is even more impressive that it comes across as wonderful as it does. By its conclusion, most of its central cast has grown and the series has taken its first step into a larger world and cemented itself as a Star Wars story that will be worth remembering.
8. The Siege of Lothal
youtube
Darth Vader was a specter that loomed over Rebels since its premiere. Kanan and Ezra could only go so long before attracting the attention of the galaxy’s most famous Sith Lord and with Ahsoka Tano now in play, the appearance of the Dark Lord seemed inevitable. Before Rogue One, Rebels brought Darth Vader back to the screen in menacing and iconic fashion. Whether its James Earl Jones’s effortless voice performance, Henry Gilroy’s script, or Bosco Ng and Brad Rau’s direction, Vader fills every frame he is a part of with a dark presence and in the process tests the Ghost Crew like never before. It makes for a stunning premiere that not only impacted the main cast but hinted at some of the iconic and emotional stories that were to come throughout Rebels’ second season.
7. The Honorable Ones
youtube
“The Honorable Ones” was a risk from the get-go. Even if it played off a familiar trope of two adversaries being forced to survive in dangerous conditions, Kevin Hopps’s script had the challenge of carrying a full episode that is essentially two conflicted men arguing and also providing a nuanced view of war without undermining Star Wars’ purposefully simplistic morality and condemnation of fascism. Hopps succeeds by making “The Honorable Ones” about Kallus the man rather than the organization he represents and in the process allows for two series best performances out of Steve Blum and David Oyelowo. In the process, both men are able to come to an understanding about each other as beings and about their own struggles even if they cannot reconcile the conflict they find themselves embroiled in. It makes for a powerful script and would set up one of the series’ best long term character arcs in Kallus’s eventual defection to the Rebellion.
6. Jedi Night
youtube
Until its conclusion, “Jedi Night” plays out like classic Rebels fun. The crew conducts a rescue of a team member and loved one the sorts of which have played out through the show dozens of times. Dave Filoni and Henry Gilroy pepper the script with moments of action and levity and while the stakes are high, there is a sense of playfulness that echoes throughout. In actuality, “Jedi Night” is a sort of pre-emptive eulogy for the man it is about to sacrifice. Kanan Jarrus slowly sheds and reforms his appearance, his identity, and eventually his life to rescue those he loves and director Saul Ruiz does this through smart visual cues that play off well with both the script and Freddie Prinze Jr.’s incredible performance. “Jedi Night” feels like a collective breath before its act of tragedy and sacrifice and the result is gut-punching but also unforgettable.
5. Twin Suns
youtube
“Twin Suns” is an artful and beautifully directed closure of not only Ezra’s character in the third season of Rebels but also of one of the most winding and tortured character arcs in the franchise. After decades of turmoil, Maul’s life comes to a close. From its opening frames, director Dave Filoni creates a clear visual language that emphasizes open space, isolation, and character action and in the process prepares us for what is to come. It makes for one of the most creatively inventive installments the show attempted and this, of course, culminates in its incredible final moments. Stephen Stanton’s masterful recreation of Alec Guinness’s Obi-Wan Kenobi is jaw dropping and it makes his moments of wisdom passed onto Ezra feel genuine and his pity and remorse towards Maul oddly heartbreaking. Filoni’s decision to stage this final battle between the decades long adversaries as a Kirosawa-like samurai film represents one of his best directorial decisions to date and the result is unexpected but entirely appropriate and even poignant.
4. A Family Reunion-and Farewell
youtube
Rebels’ final episode could have stretched on for hours and fans would likely have lapped it up. Trying to conclude this four year story of family, resistance against tyranny, and maturity in adolescence in forty four minutes seemed like a near impossible challenge. The result is an episode that makes every second of that runtime count with an explosive final charge for Lothal’s independence that brings aboard a sprawling ensemble of the Ghost Crew and some of their most iconic allies. It is super charged with action and heroism, but it is ultimately the conclusion of Ezra Bridger’s emotional arc that makes “A Family Reunion-and Farewell” sing. Taylor Gray’s performance here is mature and emotionally resonant as Ezra finally comes to term with the loss of his family but also how best to honor those who are caught under tyranny and oppression. It marks a moment where Ezra not only becomes an adult but also a hero to which the galaxy can aspire to. Even then, this isn’t even taking into account the incredible series epilogue that not only provides a much needed conclusion to the series’ beloved characters but hinted at new adventures to come. It makes for a powerful and near perfect finale to a show with a legacy that will stretch on for years to come.
3. Trials of the Darksaber
youtube
Like “The Honorable Ones,” “Trials of the Darksaber” is one of the rare episodes of Rebels that slows down the action to focus entirely on character. However, this Sabine-centric episode foregoes any sort of plot oriented B-Story at all and instead bunkers down for an emotionally raw tale of a master and student. Directed by Steward Lee and written by Dave Filoni, “Trials of the Darksaber” begins with a visually dynamic lore-dump about the blade that passed hands from Pre Vizsla to Darth Maul and now rest in the hands of Sabine Wren. With the importance of this strange weapon now understood, Sabine now faces a responsibility that could change the tide of the war to their favor. Forced to not only conquer her own insecurities but also face the trauma of her past, Sabine undergoes a rigorous training under Kanan that culminates in an emotional outburst that lays all bare. Freddie Prinze Jr. and Tiya Sircar provide phenomenal voice performances that feel vulnerable and genuine and it makes for an episode that is quite unlike anything else in the series and one of the highpoints of Rebels as a whole.
2. A World Between Worlds
youtube
For decades one of the few story concepts that Star Wars never touched was time travel. In a universe where lightspeed travel was as simple as taking a bus and a magical energy force could lead to all manner of strange abilities, the power to traverse time and space was always off limits. That is until “A World Between Worlds.” Selling Star Wars fans on this concept would’ve been risky from the start, but it helps that this installment of Rebels is close to perfection. We knew from early on that there was something special about Lothal and the Jedi Temple that lay hidden at its center. With the Emperor’s interest and the mystical behavior of the Lothwolves adding onto this mystery, it slowly became apparent just what kind of realm was lying hidden beneath the coned walls of this strange building. The design and execution of the World between Worlds itself is one of Lucasfilm Animation’s best creations. With twisting and churning pathways that seem to stretch through space in infinite directions and populated by ethereal voices that connect throughout the Star Wars saga, this pathway into the stars feels like something ancient, unknowable, and mythic. The result is suitably awe inspiring and entrancing. Even better, writer and co-director Dave Filoni, alongside Steward Lee, ground this world in a key emotional arc for its characters. In addition to allowing fans to see Ahsoka Tano one more time before the close of the series and show a tease of what the next chapter of her story was, Filoni and Lee position this realm as a key emotional turning point in Ezra’s grieving over the death of Kanan. Ezra is given a taste of ultimate power in the hopes of saving those he loves, but is forced to realize that the past shouldn’t be changed and not everyone can be saved. It’s an emotional beat that is key to the final steps of his series long arc and rings true as the episode comes to a close.
1.  Twilight of the Apprentice
youtube
How could it be anything else? The season two finale of Star Wars Rebels is not only the best of the series, it is arguably the best product that Lucasfilm Animation has released, and some of the most powerful material in the entirety of the franchise. “Twilight of the Apprentice” is an atmospheric, emotional, and suspenseful hour of television that is filled with betrayals, sacrifice, revelations, and character altering decisions. It leaves a trail of changed lives in its wake and the series would never be the same after. Written by Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Steven Melching and directed by Dave Filoni, “Twilight of the Apprentice” would see the convergence of several generations of current and former students of the Force on the planet of Malachor. There Ezra’s frustrations with Kanan’s teachings combined with his own empathy for those in need would lead to his near seduction to the Dark Side by a reemerging Darth Maul. Kanan’s inability to trust fully in his student would be a partial catalyst in his blinding by the same former Sith Lord. And Ahsoka, poor Ahsoka, would come face to face with the man that used be her master. It makes for a dark and painful installment of television, but the incredible voicework by the full cast sells the experience and thrilling lightsaber duels abound. It is hard not to find yourself wrapped up in the saga that unfolds even before the final fifteen minutes elevate this installment into the realms of a classic. Ahsoka’s confrontation with Darth Vader was clearly a fascination of Filoni’s and the resulting product is as apocalyptic, tragic, and mythic as one could hope or dread for. Ashley Eckstein, James Earl Jones, and Matt Lanter sell the moment with heartbreak, anger, and disbelief, Kevin Kiner provides a beautiful musical score, and Filoni crafts a risk taking and iconic sequence. Like all great Star Wars, “Twilight of the Apprentice” ends with a wordless montage set to music. It’s a cinematic moment that feels earned and appropriate and may just be the best Star Wars that we have seen in years.
------------ So, there you have it. Rebels has been ranked. As always, feel free to reach out to tell me where you agree, disagree, or if you just want to chat about the show. I loved getting to critique this series and offer my thoughts as it crew into a truly great piece of television. I feel that I grew as a writer and a person with this show and getting to share my excitement, speculation, frustration, and adulation for it has been a highlight of my life for years now.
Thank you all for your readership and friendship.
May the Force Be With You

Marc Marquez returns from injury to top Day 1 at Sepang
Despite still suffering the effects of surgery on his left shoulder during the winter break, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) has topped the timesheets on Day 1 at the Sepang Test with a 1:59.621, 0.259 faster than Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) in second and 0.316 quicker than third place Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) as 2019 revs back into life. Marquez completed 29 laps on Day 1 before stopping in the early afternoon to give his left shoulder a rest ahead of the next two days, with the reigning World Champion heading for more physio in the afternoon. Teammate Jorge Lorenzo sits out the test due to injury, but there were three Hondas in the top ten as Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu), fastest in Jerez, took seventh and Stefan Bradl (Honda Test Team) ended Day 1 in P9, just under six tenths off Marquez.
LCR Honda Castrol rider Cal Crutchlow, meanwhile, returned from his ankle injury sustained at Phillip Island with a solid 51 laps on Wednesday, ending his first time back on a bike in P14 with a 2:00.681.
Alex Rins was one of the big headlines of the day, able to put in a substantial 61 laps on board his 2019 GSX-RR and was fastest for some time until deposed by Marquez. He remained second after his earlier fast lap, however, and was the lead Hamamatsu machine by quite a stretch. Rookie teammate Joan Mir ended the day in P23, just behind veteran French test rider Sylvain Guintoli.
There were positive signs from Yamaha on the timesheets. Maverick Viñales ended the day in P3 after 63 laps with a best of 1:59.937, with teammate Valentino Rossi in P6 after 56 laps and just over a tenth off Viñales. The Iwata marque are focusing on final decisions for their 2019 engine, the electronics and some chassis elements – and say comparing their times to competitors’ is a key point of interest after an intense winter of work.
New team on the block Petronas Yamaha SRT, meanwhile, had Franco Morbidelli just outside the top ten in P12 after 60 laps – only eight tenths off the top – with rookie teammate Fabio Quartararo a further half a second in arrears in P18 on tight timesheets.
Just behind Viñales, meanwhile, was the first of the Borgo Panigale machines – but it was Reale Avintia Racing’s Tito Rabat who took that honour. Less than half a tenth off Viñales and the last man under the two-minute barrier, the Spaniard impressed on his first day back on a MotoGP™ machine at fuller strength, having missed much of the latter part of last season following his crash at Silverstone. Just behind him came the first of the Mission Winnow Ducati machines in the form of new arrival Danilo Petrucci, with the Italian just 0.003 ahead of Rossi after 54 laps. 2017 and 2018 runner up Andrea Dovizioso, meanwhile, ended Day 1 of 2019 in P8 with a 2:00.197.
Jack Miller wasn’t far off the second factory machine despite a small crash either, with the Aussie taking P11 – three tenths off ‘DesmoDovi’ and lead Alma Pramac Racing machine. Rookie teammate Francesco Bagnaia – reigning Moto2™ Champion – made for close company too, impressing in P15 as the fastest debutant.
Completing the top ten was an impressive day’s work for Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), who put in a fitting 44 laps with a best of 2:00.313 despite a crash at the end. The Spaniard took the honours of lead Austrian machine by sixth tenths, although the second KTM on the timesheets was an equally stunning performance: rookie Miguel Oliveira of Red Bull KTM Tech 3, despite a brief technical issue. The Portuguese rider finished the day in P16 and only just off fastest newcomer Bagnaia, making a big impression on Day 1 after more difficult tests at Valencia and Jerez. Experienced test rider Mika Kallio was in P19, just ahead of Espargaro’s new teammate Johann Zarco as the Frenchman continued his adaptation in P20.
Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) was the fastest Noale machine in P13 and said the 2019 bike is a definite improvement, with the Spaniard putting in 55 laps to end the first day of the season just ahead of Crutchlow. New teammate Andrea Iannone was down in P21 and suffered a crash, ending the day 1.6 seconds off Marquez as he continues to get used to his new machinery.
That’s it from Day 1 and somehow, it’s still that familiar number 93 at the top of the timesheets despite the reigning Champion’s surgery and tough off season. Is it a one-off? Or will he repeat it tomorrow and manage to come out swinging at full strength in Qatar, too? Personnel Mail And Office Expenses
How Could The 2020 Election Impact Control Of The Senate? | NBC News NOW
House members are eligible for a Members Representational Allowance to support them in their official and representational duties to their district. The MRA is calculated based on three components: one for personnel, one for official office expenses and one for official or franked mail. The personnel allowance is the same for all members; the office and mail allowances vary based on the members districts distance from Washington, D.C., the cost of office space in the members district, and the number of non-business addresses in their district. These three components are used to calculate a single MRA that can fund any expenseâeven though each component is calculated individually, the franking allowance can be used to pay for personnel expenses if the member so chooses. In 2011 this allowance averaged $1.4 million per member, and ranged from $1.35 to $1.67 million.
The Personnel allowance was $944,671 per member in 2010. Each member may employ no more than 18 permanent employees. Members employees salary is capped at $168,411 as of 2009.
Biden Administration: Heres Who Has Been Named So Far
Return of the bipartisan gangs
After months of stalemate over the size and scope of a coronavirus relief package in the closing weeks of the last Congress, a group of centrists from both parties, led by Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, unveiled a $900 billion compromise plan that became the basis for the legislation that ultimately was approved by the House and Senate and signed by President Trump.
Manchin has said he hopes that model can translate into efforts in 2021.
Other Republican moderates such as Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah and Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska who helped on the COVID-19 aid package could also serve as powerful players if they decide to work across the aisle.
Progressives push for Senate rule changes
Liberal Democrats have pressed to get rid of the legislative filibuster so that they can pass major health care or environmental bills with a simple majority.
Biden has sidestepped questions about whether he supports doing away with keeping the 60-vote threshold, but several top Senate Democrats have signaled they back changing a rule that many of them once insisted was essential to the institution. There will be intense pressure on Biden and Democratic leaders to show they can pass some bills with GOP support, but if Senate Republicans stay largely unified to thwart the new administrations agenda, calls to eliminate the filibuster will increase.

Democrat Jon Ossoff Claims Victory Over David Perdue In Georgia Runoff
Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York is expected to replace GOP Sen. Mitch McConnell as majority leader and will determine which bills come to the floor for votes.
The ambitious proposals addressing climate change and health care and other domestic priorities touted by Biden and Harris will be difficult, if impossible, to advance with more moderate Democrats especially those facing competitive 2022 midterm reelection campaigns reluctant to sign onto partisan proposals. The much smaller-than-anticipated House Democratic majority compounds the challenge for the party.
Instead, Biden will need to consider which domestic priorities can get bipartisan support since Senate rules now require anything to get 60 votes to advance. The president-elect has already indicated that additional coronavirus relief will be his first priority, but he has also said he plans to unveil an infrastructure plan that could get support from Republicans.
In a statement Wednesday, Biden said that “Georgia’s voters delivered a resounding message yesterday: they want action on the crises we face and they want it right now. On COVID-19, on economic relief, on climate, on racial justice, on voting rights and so much more. They want us to move, but move together.”
The president-elect also spoke to Democrats’ potential total control of Washington.

Trump’s Former Physician Wins House Seat
Ronny Jackson, the former White House physician who served under both Presidents Trump and Obama, has won his race in Texas’ 13th Congressional District. Jackson rose to prominence in 2018 when he gave a glowing press conference about Mr. Trump’s health.
Mr. Trump nominated Jackson to be Veterans Affairs secretary last year, but Jackson withdrew amid allegations that he drank on the job and over-prescribed medications. In his House race, Jackson has closely aligned himself with Mr. Trump. He has downplayed the coronavirus pandemic and criticized mask-wearing requirements. He has also promoted baseless claims about Biden’s mental health.
Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw also won reelection. Crenshaw is a conservative firebrand and a rising GOP star in the House.
Are Senators Chosen By Popular Vote
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beginning with the 1914 general election, all U.S. senators have been chosen by direct popular election. The Seventeenth Amendment also provided for the appointment of senators to fill vacancies. There have been many landmark contests, such as the election of Hiram Revels, the first African American senator, in 1870.

Do The Parties Have To Negotiate On The Rules
No. With Harris vote, Democrats could threaten to ram through a Democratic-written organizational plan that severely disadvantages the Republicans.
But Democrats may prefer negotiation to a solely Democratic plan because they may not be able to keep their own caucus in line to enact that option. Theres a long history of bipartisan gangs of institutional-minded senators who sought to play a role in shaping how the chambers rules are formed, and those senators would not support a Democratic-only plan.
Before there can be a vote No. 51, there must be votes 50, 49 and 48, said Richard Cohen, chief author of the Almanac of American Politics and a longtime congressional correspondent. Democratic senators who might have reservations about supporting the most liberal proposals, such as Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly of Arizona, wont want to be taken for granted by others in the Democratic conference.

States That Gained Seats
The three most populous states to gain seats are Texas, Florida and North Carolina, and in each, Republicans will control the redistricting process. For the first time in decades, they wont have to seek preclearance from the Justice Department either before implementing their maps thanks to the 2013 Supreme Court decision that struck down part of the Voting Rights Act. That, in turn, could open the door for more extreme gerrymandering in these states, which historically disenfranchised voters of color.;
For instance, Republicans will at least try to draw Texass two new districts to be as safe as possible for Republicans. But they also face the challenge that Texass suburbs its fastest-growing areas are rapidly becoming more Democratic, which threatened to blow up their 2011 gerrymander. According to Daily Kos Elections, Biden came within 3 percentage points of carrying 22 out of Texass current 36 districts in the 2020 election. So in an effort to shore up Republican incumbents in some areas, the Texas legislature may be forced to create safe new districts for Democrats in places like Austin, Dallas or Houston. But even if one or both of the new seats are blue, Texass map will still likely benefit Republicans overall , muddying the question of which party truly benefits from reapportionment here.

Democrats May Have Control At The Federal Level But Republicans Are Pushing Back Through States
30 state legislatures are now controlled by Republicans, while only 18 are controlled by Democrats.
Though the hotly anticipated Blue Wave did not sweep over the country as thoroughly as some analysts had predicted in the weeks and months leading up to the American election on November 3, 2020, theres no denying that Democrats notched major victories in both the Senate and the White House, despite losing several seats in the House of Representatives.
But that victory is beginning to be undercut by the majority of state legislatures, which are Republican-controlled, as they begin to enact stricter voting laws, pass state sovereignty bills and push through highly conservative legislation to push back against Democratic ideologies in Washington.
Many Republicans Mobilizing Against Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill
Republicans keep control of the House and Senate
The bipartisan group of senators who crafted the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is preparing to take a victory lap as the Senate moves toward passing the bill in the coming days.
But a large number of Republicans are mobilizing against the bill that includes $1.2 trillion of spending and $550 billion in new spending on hard infrastructure projects, such as rail, ports, electric vehicle charging stations, and broadband.
Right after the group of bipartisan senators introduced the bills text on Sunday night, Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee gave a long floor speech in opposition to the legislation, arguing that the Constitution does not give Congress to go out and spend money on anything that we deem appropriate and that the price tag is too high.
Shame on us for making poor and middle-class Americans poorer so that we can bring praise and adulation to ourselves and more money to a small handful of wealthy, well-connected interests in America, Lee said.
Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley said that he would vote against the bill, sharing an article that called it an epic binge of green subsidies and more handouts for states and localities.
Several Republicans in the House are also stating their opposition to the bill.

Here Are The Republicans Calling For Biden’s Removal Amid Afghanistan Fallout
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fall of Kabul on Sunday and the resultant emergency evacuation of U.S. citizens from Afghanistan have triggered a wave of outrage among lawmakers, with numerous Republicans going beyond mere criticism of the Biden administration’s drawdown of U.S. troops to say that the president ought to vacate office.
The invocation of the 25th Amendment, resignation, and impeachment have all been promoted in recent days as possible solutions by a growing number of Republican officials, who say Biden’s actions since Afghanistan fell to the Taliban call into question the president’s fitness to serve.
Here are the GOP members who have called on Biden to leave or be removed from the Oval Office so far.
25th Amendment
Multiple lawmakers have said the use of the 25th Amendment may be in order.
Sen. Rick Scott: “After the disastrous events in Afghanistan, we must confront a serious question: Is Joe Biden capable of discharging the duties of his office or has time come to exercise the provisions of the 25th Amendment?” Scott wrote in a tweet Monday.
Rep. Claudia Tenney: Tenney, who serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, was less equivocal, saying it is “clear” Biden is failing to perform his duties.
Raskin, a Maryland Democrat, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sought during the previous Congress to establish a commission within the body to participate in 25th Amendment proceedings during the waning days of President Donald Trump’s administration.

How Many Senators Will Vote To Convict Donald Trump
Reddit
Now that Donald Trump has been impeached for an historic second time, attention turns to the Senate where, according to the Constitution, a trial will begin. The big question isunlike last year when only one Republican Senator voted to convict Trump on charges resulting from his phone call with the President of Ukrainewill there be 17 Republican senators willing to vote to convict Trump?
Lets start with what we know. Senator Ben Sasse is the only senator who has said clearly that he is open to convicting Trump. Senator Mitt Romney voted to convict last year when Trump was impeached over his phone call with the Ukrainian president. The charges in this impeachment are equally if not more serious, so it seems likely that he too may vote to convict. Senator Lisa Murkowski and Senator Patrick Toomey have also made statements signaling that theyve had enough of Trump. Murkowski just wants him out, saying He has caused enough damage, and Toomey thinks he committed impeachable offenses but is unsure whether impeachment makes sense this close to the end of the Trump presidency.
Pelosi Says It Doesn’t Matter Right Now If She’ll Seek Another Term As Speaker Beyond 2022
;In a press call, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shot down a question about whether this upcoming term would be her last as speaker, calling it the “least important question you could ask today.” She added that “the fate of our nation, the soul of the nation” is at stake in the election.
“Elections are about the future,” Pelosi said. “One of these days I’ll let you know what my plans are, when it is appropriate and when it matters. It doesn’t matter right now.”
After the 2018 election, Pelosi agreed to term limits on Democratic leaders that would prevent her from serving as speaker beyond 2022.

Two state legislatures saw changes in their veto-proof majority statusâtypically when one party controls either three-fifths or two-thirds of both chambersâas a result of the 2020 elections. Democrats gained veto-proof majorities in Delaware and New York, bringing the number of state legislatures with a veto-proof majority in both chambers to 24: 16 held by Republicans and eight held by Democrats.
Forty-four states held regularly-scheduled state legislative elections on November 3. Heading into the election, there were 22 state legislatures where one party had a veto-proof majority in both chambers; 16 held by Republicans and six held by Democrats. Twenty of those states held legislative elections in 2020.
The veto override power can play a role in conflicts between state legislatures and governors. Conflict can occur when legislatures vote to override gubernatorial vetoes or in court cases related to vetoes and the override power.
Although it has the potential to create conflict, the veto override power is rarely used. According to political scientists Peverill Squire and Gary Moncrief in 2010, only about five percent of vetoes are overridden.

Record Number Of Republican Women Elected To Congress In 2020 Election | NBC News NOW
The 114th Congress being sworn in on Tuesday is being hailed as the most diverse Congress in history with more women and minorities than ever before. But thats not thanks to the new Republican majorities in the House and the Senate.
Although the new Congress is 80 percent white, an equal amount male, and 92 percent Christian, the majority of non-white and women lawmakers are Democrats. In other words, even though these paltry numbers make up the most diverse Congress in existence, its thanks largely to Democrats that its this way.
There are a total of 81 minorities that are Democrats in both houses combined and 16 that are Republicans, according to data from CQ. The 114th Congress also has 79 Democratic women and 29 Republican women, also according to CQ.
Of the 188 Democrats in the newly sworn-in House of Representatives, 78 are minorities, according to CQ. Despite the rise of new stars like Rep. Mia Love just 12 of the 246 Republicans in the House majority are minorities. In the Senate, percentages are slightly better for Republicans. There are four Republican senators who are racial minorities and 3 Democrats who are racial minorities.
Among specific minorities, there is one Asian Senate Democrat and 10 Asian House Democrats. There are no Asian Republican lawmakers in the House or Senate in the 114th Congress.
There are also two members who identify as Native Americans in the House, both Republican. There are none in the Senate.

How Many Republicans Are In The Senate Currently
Filed Candidates By Political Party
Republicans on track to keep U.S. Senate majority
As of September 7, 2020, 519 candidates were filed with the Federal Election Commission to run for U.S. Senate in 2020. Of those, 402â199 Democrats and 203 Republicansâwere from one of the two major political parties. In 2018, 527 candidates filed with the FEC to run for U.S. Senate, including 137 Democrats and 240 Republicans.
The following chart shows the number of filed candidates by political party.
Easy Races Tough Races
In Arizona, Democrat Mark Kelly has held strong, sustained leads in the polls for months over Republican Sen. Martha McSally.;
He’s an astronaut and husband of former lawmaker Gabrielle;Giffords, who survived an assassination attempt in 2011 and became a gun-control activist.
In Maine, Trump has all but longtime incumbent Susan Collins. She appeared unbeatable until recently, winning;her last race, in 2014, by 37 points.
5 ways a Joe Biden presidency will affect Canada
She’s now trailing in the polls to the speaker of Maine’s legislature, Sara Gideon. Coleman said Collins is being pulled apart by the polarized politics of our time.
Collins frequently enrages Democrats and moderates by voting with Trump. Yet she also infuriates Trump allies; a research project by the news website Axios found that Collins is actually the No. 1 most likely of all congressional Republicans to condemn Trump in a controversy.;
“She’s really tried to walk the line of being a moderate in the Trump era. And that’s just very hard,” Coleman said.

Us Senate Representation Is Deeply Undemocratic And Cannot Be Changed
Tumblr media
Few, if any, other democracies have anything this undemocratic built into their systems.
The U.S. Senate, as you know, is currently divided 50-50 along party lines, thanks to the impressive double win in Georgia, and counting the two technically independent senators as Democrats, since they caucus with the Democrats.
But, according to the calculation of Ian Millhiser, writing for Vox, if you add up the population of states and assign half to each of their two senators, the Democratic half of the Senate represents 41,549,808 more people than the Republican half.
Millhisers piece is named after that fact: Americas anti-democratic Senate, in one number.
41.5 million. Thats a lot of people, more than 10 percent of the population . You might think that in a democracy, the party that held that much of an advantage might end up with a solid majority in the Senate, rather than have just barely eked out a 50-50 tie in a body that, taken together, represents the whole country.
Republicans have not won the majority of the votes cast in all Senate races in any election cycle for a long time. Nonetheless, Republicans held majority control of the Senate after the elections of 2014, and 2016 and 2018 and still, after the 2020 races, held 50 of the 100 seats.

Effect Of Republican Retirements
Republicans keep control of the House and Senate
Indeed, 2020 was actually a Democratic-leaning year, with Biden winning the national popular vote by 4.5 percentage points. So theres a good chance that states will be at least a bit redder in 2022 than they were in 2020.
That could make these retirements less of a blow to Republicans than they first appear. Whats more, by announcing their retirements so early, Burr, Toomey and Portman are giving the GOP as much time as possible to recruit potential candidates, shape the field of candidates in a strategic way in the invisible primary and raise more money for the open-seat campaign. And in Ohio specifically, Republicans still look like heavy favorites. Even in the Democratic-leaning environment of 2020, Trump won Ohio by 8 percentage points, implying that its true partisan lean is probably even more Republican-leaning. Ohio is simply not the quintessential swing state it once was; dating back to the 2014 election cycle, Democrats have won just one out of 14 statewide contests in Ohio and that was a popular incumbent running in a blue-wave election year .

WASHINGTON U.S. Republican Senator Dan Sullivan of Alaska won reelection Wednesday, assuring Republicans of at least 50 seats in the 100-member Senate for the next two years, while leaving control of the chamber uncertain until two runoff elections are held in Georgia in early January.
After slow vote-counting in the northwestern-most state of the U.S. after the November 3 election, news media concluded that Sullivan had an insurmountable lead over Al Gross, an orthopedic surgeon who ran as an independent candidate with Democratic support. The contest was called with Sullivan, a conservative, ahead by 20 percentage points.
With Republicans assured of at least half the Senate seats, attention now turns to the two January 5 runoff elections in the southern state of Georgia.
Two conservative Republican lawmakers Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler now hold the two seats, but both failed in separate contests last week to win a majority, forcing them into the runoffs.
Perdue faces Democrat Jon Ossoff, an investigative journalist who narrowly lost a 2017 race for a seat in the House of Representatives before trying to oust Perdue from the Senate seat he has held since 2015.
Loeffler, who was appointed to her Senate seat in early 2020, is facing Raphael Warnock, a progressive Democrat who is senior pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Help us develop the tools to bring real-time legislative data into the classroom.
If youve visited a bill page on GovTrack.us recently, you may have noticed a new study guide tab located just below the bill title. This is part of a new project to develop better tools for bringing real-time legislative data into the classroom. We hope to enable educators to build lesson plans centered around any bill or vote in Congress, even those as recent as yesterday.
Were looking for feedback from educators about how GovTrack can be used and improved for your classroom. If you teach United States government and would like to speak with us about bringing legislative data into your classroom, please reach out!
Overlap With Other Forms Of Denial
Ultimately, the findings of this analysis show thatdespite overwhelming scientific evidence to the contraryclimate denial remains alive and well in the United States Congress, and its impacts are already costing lives. Furthermore, dangerous denial within Congress is not limited to climate change alone. By this analysis, 82 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and six U.S. senators are both climate deniers and members of the sedition caucusthose who denied the certified results of the 2020 general election and therefore supported President Trumps violent attempt to overturn these democratic results.*** There is also significant overlap between elected officials who deny climate science and elected officials who deny the reality of the pandemic that has sickened millions and claimed the lives of more than half a million Americans in the past year. In fact, as this analysis was being written, one congressman-elect and another congressman who had both cast doubt on the science around climate change died from COVID-19.

Democrats Got Millions More Votes So How Did Republicans Win The Senate
Senate electoral process means although Democrats received more overall votes for the Senate than Republicans, that does not translate to more seats
Follow live updates on US politics
The 2018 midterm elections brought significant gains for Democrats, who retook the House of Representatives and snatched several governorships from the grip of Republicans.
But some were left questioning why Democrats suffered a series of setbacks that prevented the party from picking up even more seats and, perhaps most consequentially, left the US Senate in Republican hands.
Among the most eye-catching was a statistic showing Democrats led Republicans by more than 12 million votes in Senate races, and yet still suffered losses on the night and failed to win a majority of seats in the chamber.
Constitutional experts said the discrepancy between votes cast and seats won was the result of misplaced ire that ignored the Senate electoral process.
Because each state gets two senators, irrespective of population, states such as Wyoming have as many seats as California, despite the latter having more than 60 times the population. The smaller states also tend to be the more rural, and rural areas traditionally favor Republicans.
This year, because Democrats were defending more seats, including California, they received more overall votes for the Senate than Republicans, but that does not translate to more seats.
The rise of minority rule in America is now unmistakable

Arguments For Expanding The Number Of House Members
Advocates;for increasing the number of seats in the House say such a move would increase the quality of representation by reducing the number of constituents each lawmaker represents. Each House member now represents about 710,000 people.
The group ThirtyThousand.org argues that the framers of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights never intended for the population of each congressional district to exceed 50,000 or 60,000. âThe principle of proportionally equitable representation has been abandoned,â the group argues.
Another argument for increasing the size of the House is that is would diminish the influence of lobbyists. That line of reasoning assumes that lawmakers would be more closely connected to their constituents and therefore less likely to listen to special interests.
Why Are There 438 House Of Representative Members
On this date, the House passed the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929, fixing the number of Representatives at 435. The U.S. Constitution called for at least one Representative per state and that no more than one for every 30,000 persons. Thus, the size of a states House delegation depended on its population.
