Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
It seems like now I manifest myself once a month; it's terrible (QuQ)… but well…
Revealing more things about Ando, the revived sheep, and some of his little history (owo)
I'm still defining my style for this, but I think it turned out well 👍
For now this is all (UuU)
I hope you like it!
Extra: Another look from Narinder because I also liked this version, although I discarded it because it was not in line with what I wanted to achieve (U-U)
He looks like he's looking at a new toy, the sheep, please protect your brother XD
After discovering Dustin doesn't have a dad and that Steve's jerk of a father is never around, Wayne decides he wants to take the pair on a camping/fishing trip. Nothing too exhausting or arduous. And certainly not in any kind of men-needing-to-be-out-in-the-wilderness-asserting-their-masculine-dominance way. At all. He'd had enough of that from his own father.
Besides, he knows Dustin likes exploring the outdoors with all his scientific endeavours. Observing the weather, looking up at the stars and studying wildlife. Mapping out their surroundings by hand with only a compass. Looking up plants and trees in his Midwest Wildlife textbook he lugs around a lot of the time. Wayne makes sure to encourage Dustin to bring any of his sciencey stuff he might want and discourages the others from teasing him about it. He even makes room in the back of the van, right next to his fishing basket.
Eddie similarly just wants to explore. Though Wayne would argue his nephew more forages like it's his natural habitat than Dustin's more focused studious approach. Wayne's brother Al had always taken issue with Eddie's desire to explore their surroundings when he'd tagged along on their camping trips. A tradition when Eddie was much younger that grew scanter as years went on and Al got himself into more trouble.
Al had always chided the boy, saying he was the troublemaker. 'Unfocused' he meant, along with all those other cruel things Wayne defended when Al said them just loud enough for Eddie to hear. But now Wayne lets him roam - under the strict stipulation he comes back before sundown and doesn't do anything too stupid like jump in a running river, of course!
Steve, on the other hand, simply wants to go fishing and cook up what they catch. Just sit by the campfire and look into the flames as they exist out in nature for a weekend, mostly in silence. He seems calmer - happier, even - as he sips quietly on a beer or two. And of course, Steve is an apt fisherman too.
When they arrive home to an overly-worried Claudia Henderson waiting on bated breath for her son as she stands between her two-door car and Steve's shiny maroon Beemer, Dustin practically tumbles out of the car, babbling a mile a minute as he flaps about his notebook filled with his 'findings'. Whatever they are, Wayne still doesn't quite understand.
And Steve gives him a tight hug that lingers for a long while, making Wayne realises the young man might be the loneliest boy in the world.
"Thanks, Wayne," he mumbles, stepping back and propping a hand on his hip like he is trying to remain casual.
"Any time, kid," he smiles and reaches out to pat Steve on the shoulder, "We'll go next time I have a few days off."
Steve gives the faintest sign of an agreeable nod, unaware that Wayne fully means it as a promise.
I'm curious, how would your Suns design look during more serious situations, such as one of the Spearmaster broadcasts?
something like this
and now for a (slightly long) addendum: i know i depict SRS as jokey and kooky, but when it comes to not shitposting and actual characterization, i have Thoughts and Feelings about them. the entire story, they just want to do what they hope will help the people around them, even though it all ends up horribly, HORRIBLY wrong. that's tragic, and it has my interest. considering the heaviness (and intrigue) of SRS’s storyline, for me to only ever depict them as a goofball be way too shallow of me, and unfaithful to their canon characterization.
so to answer your question: they hold themselves together, of course, but the shame, regret, and embarrassment is still evident.
I thought about that one Gravity Falls clip (the whole “it’s not like I lay awake at night, thinking about her” one, look it up if you don’t know it) and made a joke with my friend of it being Staroba,,, and here we are
tbh I think that there being no big story somewhere for your dogs is what made them fun when I first found them, if that makes sense.
Like the first art I saw of Machete was the teen art you did of him back in June, and it was like oh??? who is this liddol guy? why is he sad?? ‘It’s the bug-eyed teachers apprentice again’ who is talking about him? Then later I saw the ‘nodding off at the office’ one and it was like oh! It’s the dog again!!!! why he mad? why he eepy? and then stumbling across Art of him and Vasco (I think it was the reunion one) and it was like alr Ive gotta find out who this doggo is
Anyway I remember sitting in the grass of my grandparents front lawn and going through your entire blog to learn more about Machete :3 it was so so fun to pick up little bits and pieces of him as I went further back
So I think that experience was a neat core part of discovering your dogs and I really love that.
A couple of people have said the same thing, and I think it's wonderful that you found them interesting enough that you went through the trouble of combing through my old posts and figuring out how things connect!
I can see how the process itself might be part of the fun for some, but you'd have to be really invested in these dogs to go scouting for that hard to find and disorganized lore. I'd imagine it takes a lot of effort, initiative and time to do that.
i was rewatching clips of them from mk1’s story mode (regular saturday night activities) and i thought of something when i got to this scene in particular.
johnny’s returning sento to kenshi, who refuses at first, but then johnny insists and says, “you saved my life. it’s yours.”
i know he’s talking about sento specifically, but he’s looking at kenshi so intently when he says this. he’s looking because he doesn’t have to hide his quiet longing for kenshi, who can’t see it at this moment— which has me thinking that maybe when johnny says “it’s yours” he’s also unintentionally talking about his own life. that deep down, johnny believes that the sword and his own life both belong to kenshi.
which makes me want to launch myself off the nearest mountain range. just a bit. i’m probably reading into it and the phrasing could be read just the regular way when u add context, but i can’t see it any other way anymore….
if you watch the clip you can see johnny’s gaze softens slightly right after he says it and like. like i know i’m quite literally grasping at straws rn but nrs when i catch you nrs. When i fucking catch you nrs
Could you explain your position on Shallura? Since Allura was established as a teenager when she started dating Lance and Shiro was very clearly an adult. I can understand the bi shiro headcannon but the shallura thing worries me
i am going to remind yall that i have been in this fandom since 2016. and in the early seasons, allura was not established as a teenager. in fact she was coded as older, as closer to shiro's age -- there was a specific divide between her and the younger paladins that she did not have with shiro. they made her younger (both explicitly and in mannerisms) as the show went on. and i do not give a fuck about voltron like...post s4 and i didn't even watch s7-8. so like. especially with older fics, im going to enjoy shallura.
"'why does everyone assume it's always about sex' looks at the narrator" Neil says, looking directly into the screen.
Neil really out here calling out the fuckers (cough probably twitter omg who said that-) who just think Astarion is all 'lets fuck ;}' and doesn't even try to have moments outside of that and I'm HERE for it.
