oops, new build new Balor design. I've been going through this whole spectrum of "what is a Balor". We started off with "grapple Balor", moved to "Zheng with a good computer", sat around in "undecided" land for a while, then began messing around with "egalitarian buddy hack and slash". But as we've been playing, my Balor - Covetous Hunger - has become increasingly its own character in how much it 1) wants to put everything in its nanite cloud mouth and 2) how much it hates-loves-hates-loves its pilot and wear his skin like a suit. What do you do when your mech becomes a toxic hivemind hyper-fixated on doing evil?
You give it an NHP. You give it Iconoclast.

This is a hack and slash build that's heavily reliant on a Lancaster to be its legs, but it's okay. Bonded 2, Houseguard 2, and Metahook are there to help, even if it means we're together till death do us part. HOR_OS System Upgrade 1 and OSIRIS-Class NHP give us a variety of hacking outcomes - if we land them, then we trigger Lesson of TTT for +1 accuracy and if we slow or impair them then Pankrati gives us another accuracy. If we use OSIRIS, then we DEAL FREE DAMAGE thanks Iconoclast! Executioner and Overpower Caliber help us do MORE DAMAGE TO MORE PEOPLE and armament redundancy helps us keep the whip if, somehow, structural damage is taken.
Also I think I forgot to post my Pilot's current appearance. I keep drawing him and going "huh, not enough damage".

This mech build capitalises on the fact that the Latch Drone is a main launcher and then doubles down on that altogether!
With the Latch Drone alongside Stormbringer and Walking Armoury you can knock your allies to and fro freeing them from enemy engagement! You can even send forth a burst of electricity!
The Sharanga Missles are a very reliable two target weapon that can be combo-ed with the Javelin Rockets and Thumper Rounds of Walking Armoury to demolish your foes!
The RPG/Missle Rack wombo combo doesn't even have to worry about obstructions thanks to the arcing Mag rounds provided by the Walking Armoury!
The Prototype Weapon is an attempted recreation of the Gandiva Missles, for when you need to hit and/or destroy your target. Normally it will be outfitted with extra accuracy and a smart guidance system this will get those evasive targets you'd normally miss.
And finally, with a little Grease Monkey know-how you can turn the mech's exceptional repair capacity into extra uses of all the otherwise limited weapons and systems of this mech.
With the knockback of Thumper rounds, the battlefield control of Stormbringer rockets, and the repairing capabilities of the Latch Drone, this "Monarch" is sure to be a fine addition to any team!

i believe the time has come to reveal my greatest secret: quite possibly the single stupidest lancer build i ever did come up with. it has known quite a few names, but i shall simply refer to it as The Orbital Suplex Build.

now this did require an above average amount of the demon known as math (i had to do some addition). moreover, it's not exactly, how should I say, good, useful, or, y'know, viable at this level. but. if you really, really, really just wanna send people into fucking orbit, then here you go, this is the single funniest way you can do that. technically the only talents you really need are Juggernaut 2 and Duelist 3, but the others are either because this is an actual character i played, or for fun. Brutal 2, for example, deals 1 extra knockback if you crit.
also Jäger Kunst I & II are there for the funny. you could theoretically use the Ramjet from Nelson 3 on this build but it's already stupid enough as is.
the point of this build, and why we needed to use the Atlas, is yeet the enemy into the air so high they take maximum fall damage, that being 9 AP kinetic for 9 hexes in the air. how do we achieve this lofty goal?
boost, run into the space of some enemy mech, and then, because knockback goes away from you, and because you're an Atlas pilot so you can just cockroach your way directly under a larger mech, you smack the enemy directly in their mechanized crotch so fucking hard that it sends them 60 feet straight up in the air (2 knockback from Wind Stance on the Terashima Blade, plus 2 knockback from the tuned Supermassive Mod, plus 1 knockback from Titanomachy Mesh, and if you crit that's 1 knockback from Brutal 2). you then use Blademaster 3 to immediately ram them as a free action (and Reinforced Cabling coupled with some typical Atlas bullshit to actually move upr to them). because we boosted earlier, Juggernaut 2 procs, so this ram knocks our opponent 40 additional feet into the air (1 knockback from the ram, 1 knockback from Titanomachy Mesh, and 2 from Juggernaut 2). additionally, you can then ram again as another free action due to Titanomachy Mesh for 20 more feet. but you could instead grapple.
because we took Synthetic Muscle Netting this is something we can just straight up do on any mech, no matter the size, ignore the fact that i have ZERO hull on this mech this is totally gonna work (just swap some agility for hull if you're struggling). now assuming you win the contested grapple check because no way in hell did you just throw something size 1/2, the enemy must now move with you. because you have Reinforced Cabling, you can just pull yourself back down to the ground, and you therefore take no damage. the enemy cannot do this but moves with you nonetheless, and impacts the ground at mach Fuck You, taking 9 AP kinetic damage, and because you rammed them earlier, hey, they're prone. so you overcharge and hit them again, and because they're prone, yippee, more damage.
all that work for two sword hits and 9 AP kinetic damage means you're dealing an average of, like, 19 kinetic damage a turn. not great. but, extremely fucking funny. you can also just chose to leave the enemy in the air for your friends to take potshots at from behind cover, or just hit someone really, really fucking hard away from you so that they have to boost to get back. again, in no way is this build viable, but it's got some tricks, and it is funny. sometimes funny can be pretty good too.
also you can probably do this with 2 sword hits (this being get someone 9 hexes in the air) but we don't gotta worry about that because then they're not prone at the end

This mech does everything.
It's tough, it's survivable, it can hand out truly obscene amounts of damage. It can create instant Size 2 cover anywhere within Sensors. It can shut down high-power enemies. Every time it moves, the first attack against it has a flat 50% chance to miss. It can give allies +1d6 damage as a reaction. If an enemy so much as sneezes in its vicinity, it will light it up. So long as there are less than five combats in the mission, it can use ASURA every combat. Once per mission, everyone gets a point of Structure repaired and a use of all Limited systems restored for free.
Having the extra Flex with the Hand Cannons allows it to do a truly filthy trick with its Core System. Hyper-Reflex Mode says "any character you hit with Overwatch becomes Immobilized until the end of their next turn." If you Overwatch with a Main/Aux or an Aux/Aux, your first attack in the sequence must be against the enemy who triggered it, but your second attack isn't subject to this restriction, so if someone triggers your Overwatch while HRM is on, you can fire the second Hand Cannon at some rando who's also in range and they both get Immobilized.
It has no melee weapons and needs none thanks to Combined Arms 2, and thanks to Combined Arms 1 it can get soft cover just by being adjacent to an enemy.
With 10 Heat Cap and Heatfall, it can safely Overcharge Loop to fire its Andromeda, and it has a 1-in-3 chance of being able to trigger Nuclear Cavalier every time it does so. Andromeda gets +1 Accuracy automatically.
Switch customized it to have a small fleet of camera drones constantly circling it so that they can livestream all their mech fights, and they always carry an omnihook with them so that they'll be able to connect to the omninet no matter where they are.
This isn't a meme machine. It's a fucking dream machine.

To the chagrin of my lancer pilot character who hates Balors after being poorly put back together by a swarm that mistook him as a chassis, I'm sticking him in a Fomorian Balor/Zheng/Sunzi build I'm lovingly calling Wrestlemania, but I'm stuck on how to get the Sunzi element in. A black hole on the head, under the head, or in the chest, or a big ass turbine?
Here's the approximate build if anyone's curious. The Nelson was mostly just to maintain Fomorian so I can wrestle God and not get knocked back ever so my swarm body sticks around. Once I'm in the fray, I'll be relying a decent amount on pals knocking treats over to me. I can also see myself swapping Nelson for Lancaster so I can winch foes, maybe, if that's a thing. My personalization minor mod (pending approval) is being able to manipulate my swarms shape so I can fit through regular sized doors.

okay the Lancer builds all sound great to amazing (props for the big brain dual ferrous lash) but i need to know the Dusk Wing build and also the locomotive if you feel like it (its a Lancaster right? right?!?)

gameplay loop is alternating turns of using Juggernaut 3 and stabilizing [venting heat through explosive vents and clearing a status on a nearby ally]. It would look like a Lancaster with big treads and a ton of brass piping [the personalizations, which include train whistles fitted to the explosive vents]. Also you can shout "All Aboaaaaaard" when people use the the Mule Harness. At LL4 you could grab Blackbeard 1 for the axe and synthetic muscles or Tortuga 1 for the shotgun and siege ram. Either way, it may be beneficial to change your core bonus to one of the Northstar bonuses like Up-Armored.
