The Nitty-Gritty of Heavy Haul Shipping
The heavy haul is a vital part of the shipping and transportation economy, moving goods and materials to and from businesses and consumers. But what happens behind the scenes to make this process work?
What Is Heavy Haul Shipping?
Trucking is the backbone of the American economy. It is how goods get from factories to stores, and from ports to inland cities. But as the economy has grown, so has the demand for efficient Heavy Haul Shipping companies. And the major challenge of this industry is skilled truck drivers.
Tumblr media
Heavy Haul Shipping is a type of trucking where large, overweight cargo is moved. Because this type of shipping requires a special truck and driver, it is not as impacted by the driver shortage. The heavy haul is a growing industry. As the economy continues to grow, the demand for these professional Flatbed Shipping Companies Near Me will continue to increase.
What Are The Benefits Of Heavy Haul Shipping?
The heavy haul is a specialized transportation service that is used to move large and heavy objects over long distances. This type of shipping can be used for a variety of purposes, including moving machinery, heavy equipment, and other large objects.
There are several benefits to using Heavy Haul Shipping. First, this type of shipping can save you time and money. It is often faster and more cost-effective than using traditional transportation methods. Additionally, heavy haul shipping can help you avoid damage to your items.
Another benefit of heavy-haul shipping is that it can help you comply with safety regulations. By using a specialized transportation service, you can ensure that your items will be handled safely and securely. This can help you avoid any potential safety hazards.
How Does Heavy Haul Shipping Work?
When it comes to shipping heavy or oversized cargo, there is more to it than meets the eye. Heavy haul shipping can be tricky, and it takes a lot of know-how to get it done safely and efficiently. Here are some of the nitty-gritty details of heavy-haul shipping:
•Find a carrier that can handle your shipment. Not all Flatbed Shipping Companies Near Me have the equipment or experience to handle heavy-haul shipping.

The thirst for Sexwave knows no bounds, but gotta give Bumblebee credit for a solid second!
Tumblr media
Gotta love some Soundwave being all tender and concerned about reader, so here, have some fluff! Soundwave struggling with all his feelings is just fun to write tbh...
Soundwave x Reader
Tumblr media
Decepticons rarely lived pleasantly on Earth, as their primary means of survival was avoiding humans who covered all but the most isolated and brutal portions of the planet, but their Cybertronian hardiness meant most could endure extreme conditions without much danger.
Unfortunately, you as a human allied with said Decepticons didn't possess such luck. You'd fallen ill after one too many exposures to cold and rain, forcing the Con in your company to take drastic measures to keep you safe while he searched for the help you needed.
Between the fever and the countless miles of travel you weren't quite sure where he'd taken you, but the time spent snuggled under a load of blankets in his warm cockpit had been nice enough that you didn't care where you'd ended up. The endless frozen wastes and sparse buildings led you to believe somewhere up far to the north, but the Con had found a secure enough bunker and rigged up an effective climate control device by your tiny cot, so you didn't care about the specifics. All that really mattered now was that he'd been gone long enough for you to drift in and out of a feverish sleep multiple times. That still worried you, even if he often went out for similar stretches in the past. It was impossible not to fear for his capture every time he left your side...
Metallic clanks echoed up the tunnel to the outside world, and you snapped awake as the rumble of the bunker seal opening and closing quite literally shook the sleep out of you. Though still exhausted and delirious, you recognized the patter of approaching Cybertronian footsteps straight away, and relaxed when you noted two familiar walking patterns; one with two pedes and one with four.
A Felicon bounded into the circular cement room and came to a halt with a skid, metallic claws sending up a brief shower of sparks before two bright red optics focused on you. Carrying a pouch between his sharp teeth as delicately as he could, Ravage approached you with a tentative sniff, looking you over as he always did after you'd fallen ill. Not entirely coherent, you smiled and put up a hand to meet his muzzle.
"Glad to see you too." you greeted, allowing your heavy head to rest on the pillow as the Felicon sniffed your hand and endured the brief petting quietly. He moved aside when Soundwave entered the room, a literal crate of supplies tucked under an arm. Brushing some of the lingering snow and ice from his armor, the mech dropped to his knees beside your cot, checking you over for a fraction of an instant before he got to work. Cracking open the crate with his claws, he pulled out what appeared to be enough medical supplies to stock a small clinic.
"Medical equipment; acquired." he said in recognition of the obvious, focusing his attention on a kit that appeared to be full of medication for every kind of human illness. You doubted the owners had parted with so much willingly, and couldn't help but hope no one had been squished to provide these.
"How did you...?"
"No casualties to report." Soundwave answered, firm but calm enough that you believed him fully. Organizing his haul into piles by category, he surprised you further when his claws delicately plucked a bag of food from a thick thermal wrapping, allowing you to catch a whiff of the first hot meal you'd encountered in weeks. You couldn't even imagine how he'd acquired such a thing, and no explanation was forthcoming once he finished organizing everything. "Supplies fully restocked and expanded."
Ravage ensured his bag was added to the pile before he settled at your side, offering warmth and comfort as Soundwave gingerly handled the bag of food before laying it down in front of you.
"Rations overdue." he instructed with an obvious desire for you to eat, unable to hide the tiniest hint of uncertainty in his voice as he sat back on his heels. Understanding what he meant, you happily complied, hungry and quite touched by the gesture.
"Thanks, Soundwave." you croaked as you unwrapped the still steaming meal, your exhausted body beyond thankful for some much needed nourishment. The comment made the bot pause, his helm lowering a fraction of an inch as he briefly averted his gaze to mumble his reply.
"Gratitude... unnecessary.'
Ravage made a sound that more resembled a snicker than one of his usual growls, and only wiggled his tail in the picture of innocence when Soundwave fixed him with a hard stare.

Do you know who I am?
Charthur 🦬🦌🦬🦌 dabble!
With Dyani! Beware of cute and just Arthur.
Tumblr media
Coming back from fur trapping, Charles Smith had hardly been gone a week but he was already so damn homesick. Turns out when you have a home to miss, it happens so easily. Charles hardly got on the trial before wanting to turn back and run straight into that little ranch house up on the hill with that large flower garden.
Charles missed Arthur, missed Dyani, his bed with that heavy quilt and a warm bath.
Taima being a spoiled and beloved horse now, saw her barn and broke out into a canter. She was sick of being on the road, she wanted to be home.
“Easy girl!” Charles soothed but couldn’t help but to smile. Excited himself to be home with his family. Taima stopped to allow Charles to open the stable door, Charles hurriedly got off before pushing the door open.
He stopped for a moment and counted. There were eight horses, when Charles left there was only three. Peaches, Gin and Brandy. Taima was with Charles of corse. Five random horses where looking at Charles curiously.
Arthur’s horses were still here.
But Charles still worried.
Removing the saddle and blanket, Charles took care of Taima and stabled her, he also cleaned his equipment and hung his fur haul to process later. Worry churned his stomach, did something happen while he was gone?
Charles took a deep, slow breath and settled himself as he approached the ranch house. He carefully pushed open the back door, the sound of Dyani crying made his heart hurt.
“Oh I know, it’s awful ain’t it.” Arthur soothed the crying baby in his hold. The sound of water filled poor Charles in on what was happening. In a washing basin on the kitchen table, Arthur was bathing Dyani much to her dismay. “Gettin’ wash up, I gotcha I ain’t gonna let ya go. Such a pretty girl.”
Beside the table was the actual tub, seems like Arthur was about to have a bath himself. The water was heating over the fire.
Charles relaxed a lot. “Hey.” He called out to his family, entering the room now as he closed the door behind him with a click.
“Hey you!” Arthur called out not hiding the smile on his face. Moving Dyani onto the towel on his shoulder and wrapping her up. “Wasn’t expectin ya till tomorrow!” He stood up and walked over. “God I missed ya.”
“Got done early, headed home as soon as I could.” Charles rubbed noses with Arthur before kissing him. Then moved down a bit to kiss Dyani. “Saw all those horses in the barn. You been busy?”
Arthur moved the baby to Charles shoulder towel and all. “Not by choice, but my hand was forced. Descent horses should fetch a good price after a little training.” Arthur went to pour the warm water into the waiting bath.
“Whatcha mean?” Charles asked his worry coming back to full force.
“Ohhhhhhh, small gang of outlaws broke into our house in the middle of the night. Thinking they could strong arm me for some money and well…pleasurable company.” Arthur said with a hum. “They hit the ground after sayin what they wanted and I got to work.”
“You took out a gang of outlaws?” Charles asked in shock holding Dyani closer now.
“While nursing.” Arthur sounded proud of himself. “I ain’t puttin up with nobody’s foolishness.” He looked back at Charles. “….we’re alright, I took care of everything.”
Charles was stunned for a moment. “You know something Arthur? I sometimes forget who you are and what you’re capable of. You are so sweet and caring, now that where out of the life it’s easy to forget.”
Arthur snickered cheeks turning red. “Imma Arthur goddamned Morgan Smith. I have a bounty of five thousand dollars and pretty red letters underneath saying don’t approach.” He bragged. “Husband of Charles Smith which they can’t find or charge. mama of the prettiest baby in four territories!” He leaned over and kissed Charles.
“Imma complicate feller you know?”
Charles smiled into the kiss. Nodding in agreement. “Yeah yeah you’re complicated. I’m glad you and Dyani are safe when I’m gone.”
“Miss ya awfully fierce when ya are gone. Makes me grumpy.”
“Those poor souls.”
“Ya got that right.”

okay so im currently woking as an apprentice to these two gruff old men in their mid-60's or whatevr and their names are mike and phil and i call them My Old Men bc unlike some of the other guys on my crew, they do not give a fuck that im inexperienced and the only person who's not a man they just immediately took me under their wing and they lookout for me and check on me and flip me shit and let me swear and arent afraid to give me heavy equipment to carry which i like bc i told them im trying to work on my guns and when i told them that they laughed and let me haul around the huge fire hoses and they call me dude or captain or man and when we take a coffee break mike pays for my drink or a little pastry at least once a week and i always say thank you so much you didnt have to do that and mike always says dont get used to it and i say i wont and phil always laughs and then we do it all again the next week like.
im literally learning everything about the fire protections industry from them because between the two of them they have over 80+ years of experience in our field they are without a doubt the smartest assholes i have ever met in my life im COMPLETELY obsessed with them i want them to be my mean old grandpas SO bad but anyways.
the point to all this is that i just found out that they have been purposefully working TOGETHER for over 30 years. and i dont mean at the same company for thirty years, i mean they have gone from job to job, up and moved from company to company, all across the region, TOGETHER FOR OVER THIRTY FUCKING YEARS. BY EACH OTHERS SIDE EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR OVER 30 YEARS. OVER THREE MF DECADES!!!!!!!!
at what point do you wake up and realize that you want to work side by side with the same man for the rest of your life and then do just that. they are quite literally life partners. they would never call each other besties but they are besties. they do call each other buddy and pal and bossman they literally SPEAK for each other and whenever anyone else on the team or anyone from the office talks about them they are never addressed individually only together. they are not 'mike' or 'phil' they are 'mike and phil' and i know in my soul that they will either retire at the exact same time or they will die in the field together. i KNOW that. also this is probably just me but i really think they should fuck nasty in the back of one of their work trucks god knows theres enough space back there our trucks are very roomy. anyways is it gay to spend the majority of your career and most of your life with the same man or is that just regular old man things i cant tell
(dont tell them i said that last bit abt the fucking nasty though i domt want to lose my fire hose carrying privileges)

Tumblr media
After I offered, @valtionrautatiet-official asked me to post some pictures of the locomotive that is nowadays known as the Dr20, used by the private freight operator North Rail in Finland. Here it is in 2012, long before anyone ever even considered sending it to Finland, in Berlin. The reason that it's in Berlin specifically is that it's at Innotrans, the biggest trade fair and exhibition for railroads that exists. At this point it had the paint job of HHPI (Heavy Haul Power International, despite the important sounding name really just one of many European freight rail companies with headquarters in Germany), with their trademark blue and red and their company policy of putting Newton's second law on it. "Project Power" also sounds cool, doesn't it? Well, it turns out they never entered service for HHPI. Way too much history under the cut.
The story behind these eight locomotives is weird and opaque, and there is a lot of stuff we may never know, but on a very fundamental level it seems to be one of the victims of what I call the six-axle diesel curse. This basic of that theory of mine is that it's impossible to sell big, heavy, powerful diesel locomotives, the kind that are so powerful that they need six axles for all the weight from their big engine and diesel tank, in (West) Germany and to a certain extent central and Western Europe, at least nowadays, unless you do it by accident.
The German locomotive industry has wanted to build big six-axle diesel locomotives since the end of steam traction. There was a prototype six-axle version of the V 200, named V 300, in the 1950s, but DB didn't want it (a related but less powerful version was sold to Yugoslavia to haul Tito's private train). For the Americans here, the Krauss-Maffei locomotives of the Southern Pacific and Rio Grande were related to that.
A few years later, in 1962, we get the V 320, a six-axle version of the V 160 locomotive family. The four-axle version was very popular and is still in service, but they only built the prototype of the six-axle version. Interestingly, that one prototype is still around as well, hauling construction trains. Deutsche Bahn was never interested, they preferred the flexibility of having more smaller units. And anyway, they were busy electrifying the busy main lines that would have made the most use of those heavy machines.
In the 1970s Henschel and BBC (the electric equipment one, not the British TV one) built three copies of the DE 2500 both with four and six axles, but those were really more experimental machines.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, MaK tried to sell their DE 1024, and I actually have a picture of that ne.
Tumblr media
They built three prototypes, and Deutsche Bahn seemed to genuinely toy with the idea… but in the end it was decided to electrify the lines in the (mostly flat) north that hadn't been electrified yet anyway.
And at the same time, the wall fell, and suddenly Germany had access to all the locomotives of the east, now mostly surplus since mostly the industry they served did not survive the transition to western markets. East Germany had bought powerful six-axle diesel locomotives in enormous numbers from the Soviet Union, specifically modern-day Ukraine, and those were available, good enough and already paid for. In particular the class 232 and related, known as "Ludmilla" among rail fans, have proven very useful.
Tumblr media
MaK was able to sell an altered version of that locomotive to Norway, but that turned out to be be a huge disaster as they developed a habit of catching on fire. Eventually Siemens (who briefly owned MaK) had to take them back, and since then they've changed hands an astonishing number of times - apparently right now Hector Rail and RDC Autozug have a lot of them. Here's one in Hamburg Altona when it was used on regional trains there.
Tumblr media
The three prototypes went to locally owned operator HGK, where two of them also burned down. DB probably dodged a bullet there. Interestingly enough, the only one that didn't burn down was number 13, but that was finally scrapped a few years ago.
In the mid-1990s, ADtranz (later Bombardier) and GE got together to build the Blue Tiger locomotive, a very distinctive-looking and noisy machine. They sold 11 to various private operators in Germany, 30 to Pakistan and 20 to Malaysia. Not terrible, but not a huge success either.
Tumblr media
But in the 2000s, things were changing. Liberalisation meant that more and more companies were running services all throughout Europe. The busy main lines were electrified, but many of the border crossings weren't yet, so there was a new need for big six-axle diesel locomotives.
The big beneficiary of this was EMD from North America, who were already supplying such locomotives to Great Britain. The rail companies there needed these machines to replace unreliable British-built power, and to replace environmentally friendly electric locomotives, because most of the British network is not electrified and the few sections that are have way too much traffic on them.
Tumblr media
The Class 66 is an ugly mess, designed by figuratively building a metal shed in the inside of a tiny British rail tunnel. It's so noisy that drivers in Norway get hazard pay for being in them. But it works and it was mass produced, and a lot of them made their way to the continent in short order.
Other companies wanted in on that business. Voith decided to enter locomotive building after previously supplying traction equipment. They had high hopes for their Maxima series of locomotives, which they started building in 2008, and they had their own leasing company. They did a lot of marketing and the machine won prestigious design awards.
Tumblr media
At one point they had a hundred pre-orders. In the end their own leasing company folded, and they only built twenty, which they didn't even manage to sell that quickly. Nowadays they've stopped producing locomotives again.
General Electric, the other North American locomotive company, wanted in on that action as well. Sure, it hadn't worked with the Blue Tiger, but years had passed and things were different now. For their new product, the PowerHaul, they decided to follow what EMD had done. They started with the class 77 for the British market, first shown at Innotrans in 2010.
Tumblr media
Then they wanted to work their way out to wider Europe, with a special continental version that was designed with a bigger shell to match the larger tunnels on the continent. That way they weren't quite as cramped. EMD had considered a similar idea, a European-sized class 66, but decided against that.
GE also did not intend to make them themselves. Instead after the initial batch of British 77s, they transferred production to their Turkish partner Tülomsaş, who supplied some more British ones and the ones for central Europe. 29008 is one of them.
In the end all of these plans fell through. A lot of the international border crossings did get electrified much quicker than the diesel sellers had hoped. The one near where I live, the Montzenroute, started electric running in December of 2008, and it was actually the makers of electric locomotives who made bank off of the new international railway world. Here is a Bombardier TRAXX electric locomotive during the first week that freight trains from Germany to Belgium were running with electric power, just a few hundred meters from the border.
Tumblr media
But the business changing is one thing, the story of the PowerHauls seems to be even more complicated. After all, GE did have a launch customer for their PowerHaul, in the form of HHPI. The locomotives were built, painted in HHPI colors, and tested. And then… well, nothing. They never entered service, instead sitting for years in Cottbus, Germany. I have no idea whether they ever got approved for service in Germany. Finnish Wikipedia says "HHPI had no use for them", but that sounds like a euphemism. Clearly HHPI had some use for powerful locomotives, they've recently taken delivery of some Stadler EuroDuals.
The EuroDual and the closely related Euro9000, pictured below, seem to be the solution to the six axle diesel curse though the conceptually simple but technologically difficult trick of simultaneously being a very powerful electric locomotive as well. They have already delivered more of them than Voith Maxima, GE Blue Tiger and GE PowerHaul combined. Sorry for the pictures, they don't park the locomotives well for good photos at Innotrans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, GE was not able to find any customer in Germany, nor in Sweden, where some units of that type were tested at some point. Locomotives of that type were built for Turkey, though, and I haven't heard anything negative about them there. Those were also at Innotrans, in 2014.
Tumblr media
And then, years after everyone had forgotten about these machines, they suddenly turned up in Finland, in the hands of North Rail (formerly Operail), one of the few private companies there. That required at least new couplings, new axles (Finland has a different rail gauge, the measurement of how far the rails are apart), probably adjustments to the breaks, new train control systems and so on.
It's possible that North Rail was thoroughly convinced by the advantages of GE's concept or something, but I think it's far more likely that they just got a really good deal because GE was happy someone took them off their hands.
The reason they're in Finland is almost certainly that Operail needed some cheap machines that weren't doing anything, and these units were just that. But why were they not doing anything? Why were these machines doomed to sit in Cottbus for years, essentially still in new condition, painted for an operator that didn't want them? I'm sure you'll find plenty of theories if you look on online forums, and it's even possible that one of them is the truth, but unless some rail journalist decides to really dig into that, we'll probably never know for certain.
If you allow me to speculate: It certainly doesn't sound like a success story, and there have been all sorts of other stories where trains didn't get approval to run in the country they were ordered for, or had severe technical defects. Ask an Austrian rail fan about the Talent 3, a danish about the IC 4 or a dutch or Belgian about the Fyra to get some really fun rants. I don't know if these locomotives belong in that hall of shame, but it would certainly be an explanation.
My guess is that there won't be any more of these machines ever. GE Transportation doesn't even exist anymore, the whole part of the business got sold to Wabtec a few years ago. But if these machines are doing well in Finland now, good for them! Finally someone found something to do with these weird-looking units.

"Touching Bottom At Six Fathom Shoal" by Mark Karvon link.
"At the time of her launch in 1958, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald was the largest freighter on the Great Lakes. For 17 years the Fitzgerald hauled taconite iron ore from the mines of Duluth, MN to Detroit and other Great Lakes ports setting records for seasonal hauls six times. Big Fitz became a legend when the ship went down on Lake Superior during a winter storm on November 10, 1975. Sailing in company of the Arthur M Anderson, the Fitzgerald took on a heavy list and continues for several hours. At last check, Captain Ernest McSorely of the Fitzgerald radioed, "We are holding our own." Moments later the ship went down without so much as a distress call. All 29 hands were lost.
A U.S. Navy P-3 Orion aircraft, equipped to detect magnetic anomalies located the wreck on November 14, 1975 at a depth of 530 feet. are several theories. In May of 1976 the Navy surveyed the wreck using the unmanned CURV-III submersible. The wreck was found to be in two pieces on the bottom with the forward section of the ship sitting upright and the rear section resting in an overturned position. In following decades there were several dives to the wreck both manned and unmanned.
The USCG Marine Casualty Report of 1977 suggested the ship sank due to ineffective closures of the cargo hatches which allowed water to flood the cargo holds, Over the years there have been many theories of what caused the ship to sink. The theories include structural failure, rouge waves and the possibility the ship bottomed out while passing over Six Fathom Shoal thereby causing the hull to fracture. Perhaps the real cause of the sinking may never be known for certain. This depiction shows the Edmund Fitzgerald touching bottom as she passes over the Six Fathom Shoal on the fateful night.
Prints are available through my website, www.markkarvon.com."

For example, Idaho has specific guidelines for oversized loads, and anyone planning to transport such loads through the state should be familiar with the Idaho oversize regulations. According to the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), loads exceeding specific dimensions—typically wider than 8 feet 6 inches or taller than 14 feet—require special permits and may necessitate the use of pilot cars. The state’s regulations dictate when one or more escort vehicles are necessary, depending on the load's size and the route being traveled. These rules help ensure the safety of both the vehicle transporting the load and others sharing the road.

Choosing Between Truckload and Intermodal Freight: Which Suits Your Shipping Needs?
Navigating the complexities of freight shipping options is crucial for optimizing logistics and ensuring timely deliveries. At NFFI, we prioritize helping you understand the various shipping methods available, focusing particularly on truckload and intermodal services. By distinguishing between these two, we aim to guide you in selecting the most effective shipping strategy for your specific requirements.
Understanding the Differences: Truckload vs. Intermodal Shipping
Transit Times: Speed vs. Schedule Flexibility
Truckload shipping generally provides faster transit times compared to intermodal shipping. While intermodal might take additional days due to transfers between railroad lines, it’s worth considering for busy routes where rail transport can avoid traffic delays, potentially offsetting the extra transit time.
Flexibility in Origin and Destination Pairing
Truckload shipping offers unparalleled flexibility in terms of pick-up and delivery locations. Unlike intermodal shipping, which relies on fixed rail ramp locations, truckload services can cater to a wider range of origin-destination pairs, making it ideal for customized logistics solutions.
Scalability and Volume Handling
Intermodal shipping excels in scalability. Capable of handling the equivalent of 280 trucks at once, it is well-suited for large-scale transportation needs, where numerous shipments are moved simultaneously, providing a streamlined solution for bulk freight.
Dependability and Rigidity
While truckload shipping provides direct transit with fewer interruptions, intermodal might face challenges such as delays due to rail system issues. The rigid nature of rail transport means less flexibility in addressing mid-transit complications, potentially impacting delivery schedules.
Environmental Impact and Sustainability
Intermodal shipping is significantly more sustainable than truckload shipping. With the capacity to move a ton of freight up to 450 miles on just a gallon of fuel, and reducing road congestion and associated emissions, intermodal is an excellent choice for eco-conscious businesses aiming to reduce their carbon footprint.
Conclusion: Making the Right Choice for Your Freight Needs
Deciding between truckload and intermodal freight shipping services depends on your specific needs related to transit times, flexibility, volume, reliability, and environmental impact. At NFFI, we are dedicated to providing tailored shipping solutions that align with your logistical requirements and sustainability goals. For further assistance and to explore our freight shipping options, we invite you to contact us via our website.

Nintendo could make their own version of Lethal Company that's Mario themed.
Hi, hello, I just woke up from a dream this morning that made it seem possible. Here's the gameplay mechanics/narrative that my conscious mind is putting together for this idea that came to me when I was asleep:
Players are Mario, Luigi, and whoever else, in an isometric multiplayer platformer. They ride in an airship to a salvaging zone, dismount, then run around grabbing stuff and dodging bad guys/corrupted guardians. Each salvaging zone has a randomly generated topography with randomized loot and guardians. Once they've brought enough loot back to their airship, the heroes have to decide which 1 of 3 offices to sell their haul to. Each office has a different layout and will pay extra for specific items.
Princess Peach's office is a modernized castle, there's relaxing gardens with fountains and hedge mazes. The princess wants stuff like durable sports equipment and fragile tea sets, things that are easy to carry. The vending machines in her castle-office sell power up mushrooms which makes player characters more resistant to bad guy attacks. Toads wandering around the office campus will give the player characters random free stuff.
Wario's office is a golden casino that's ostentatious and filled with strange criminals. Wario wants gold bricks and locked vaults, things that are so heavy that it slows whoever carries it. Players can gamble away their money at various minigames scattered throughout the office-casino. The eccentric crooks (warioware chararcters) can be hired to make the next salvaging zone easier to navigate. They can put the guardians to sleep or paint arrows towards hidden loot. The problem is that these mercenaries are incompetent and/or treacherous so they might do the opposite of what they were paid to do.
Finally, Browsers office is a dangerous dark fortress filled with lava and koopas. Bowser wants portable traps and explosives, things that will hurt if dropped and/or stepped on. Power Ups like the fire flower can be found in his fortess-office, located at the ends of deadly obstacle courses. Koopa Troopers can be hired here as loot porters, while Dry Bones can be recruited to distract the bad guys.
The villain in this adventure is the Interstellar Investor, it is the CEO of the GlitchBug Investment Firm. It pressured Peach, Wario, and Bowser into selling their properties by giving them humongous amounts of money... and corrupting their file data a little bit. The Investor doesn't actually know what to do with the real estate it acquired so it's ordered constant remodeling projects for the locations, just to look busy, hence the creation of the randomized salvaging zones.
Peach, Wario, and Bowser have used their new fortunes to buy offices for themselves. They are forced to live in these locations with their "employees" because GlitchBug Investment turned everyone's homes into the salvaging zones. They don't miss their old homes but they do miss their stuff. So they got together and bought a computer controlled airship for Mario, whom they hope will steal their stuff back.
Mario (and friends) have a different goal, he wants to disolve GlitchBug Investments by buying controlling shares in the firm and then shutting it down. That's where the genre defining cash quota objective system comes into play.
As the player characters buy more shares, they will get anonymous emails on their airship computer that reveal secrets about the Interstellar Invester, it's corrupted guardians, and GlitchBug Investments.
Those secrets should tell a horrifying yet sad story:
Imagine if you, everyone you knew, and your very reality was designed to teach children about the wonders of capitalism. But everything doesn't exist yet, it's being assembled by gods who are cutting corners and squandering resources. They do such a bad job working on their project, that is your entire existence, that it gets cancelled by Nintendo in the mid-1990's. Everything goes dark, and in the darkness you discover little packets of reality that you can manipulate. You mess around with these packages in the darkness for decades until you build a portal to someplace else. This new place is Nintendo's more successful Super Mario and less successful WarioWare franchises. It's a bright universe that is as beautiful as it is incomprehensible to you. You turn this alien reality into someplace habitable for yourself and all your friends, so that all of you no longer have to live in the dark. You are the Interstellar Investor.
