Heavy Summer Rain

The grasses in the field have toppled, and in places it seems that a large, now absent, animal must have passed the night. The hay will right itself if the day turns dry. I miss you steadily, painfully. None of your blustering entrances or exits, doors swinging wildly on their hinges, or your huge unconscious sighs when you read something sad, like Henry Adams’s letters from Japan, where he traveled after Clover died. Everything blooming bows down in the rain: white irises, red peonies; and the poppies with their black and secret centers lie shattered on the lawn.

After the rain... & it was all quiet as we headed home, down the cobbled street.

for the second year in a row we're having a rain season in Northen Italy. if it will repeat itself the next one it should get at least a cool name. it's the least that can happen to mitigate the fact that I'm doing laundry calculating how many sun hours we have before I have to collect it from the clothesline.

(and that I put the comforter away literally last week and I still have a heavy quilt on the bed... it's still only 21°C in my house ffs!)

Lots of people talking about winter in the northern hemisphere but if you're from the southern hemisphere like I am, I hope you have a good summer, that you wear sunscreen, that you are safe from storms and floods, may the heat be pleasant but not unbearable. Protect yourself from the sun, drink water (and if you don't like it, drinking juice or soda is better than drinking nothing). Be safe if you go swimming. People have this idea that summer in the southern hemisphere is pure bliss, but the heat is frequently really high to the point of being dangerous, and storms and floods can be destructive. May our summer be peaceful.

Det regnar och regnar... 😅 Was brushing my teeth and suddenly I heard a loud noise. Water gushing, when I went out on the porch understood what it was. 😅 Tomorrow we might have to use a boat... No but hopefully it does not strike down my plants.
