starting off with some incorrect quotes

yuzuru as me playing the discord golf game with my friends on vc, only to get screwed over by the lag from cruise wifi

anzu as my friends who were still at home and took this chance to win by miles

makoto as my brother and i when we made one of the arcade machines run out of tickets to dispense three times

hiyori as the hair stylist that gave me the scaramouche/edna haircut and kept calling me "madame" and insisted that i trust his vision (he was a lovely guy, i just wanted it more short :()

anzu as my aunts that were constantly trying to video call my mom on wechat, only for the call to disconnect because cruise wifi sucks

mayoi as the dinner waiter that jumpscared my mom on the lunch buffet line

midori as the buffet worker who kept sorting the lettuce leaves by size and color

rinne as the guy at the casino who told a worker he wanted to "have a gambling addiction responsibly"

tori and tsukasa as the little girls who tried to convince their mom to let them eat only cake for lunch

kaoru as the white guy who tried to engage in a conversation with me in the elevator but only made the situation more awkward

souma as the guy who got into an argument with someone (kaoru) over whether the fish he ate was bass or salmon (it was salmon with some bass)

shinobu as the boy who ran up and down the stairs yelling that he was looking for ducks (?)

wataru as the russian lady in charge of the dining room who would loudly whisper "iiiiiit's...... showtiiiiiiime" into a microphone every evening

tomoya as the waiter with a tired, dead inside expression who still had to dance for the russian lady's "showtime"

adonis as the guy that woke up at six in the morning to run laps around the deck for some unknown reason

wataru as the guy who posed for a picture like he was pinching the setting sun

hokuto as the guy taking the picture, but from an angle that made wataru look like he was pinching nothing and standing there stupidly

imagining that kohaku probably spends a fair amount of time out of his and jun's dorm because hiyori likes to invade it and he doesnt want to like. third wheel and hiiro already definitely shows up to hang out with aira unannounced so hell dorm will often be the unplanned kohiiai hangout spot. and eichi and rei will NEVER stop teasing aira about that

its extra funny if theyre not dating bc aira definitely the typa guy to have the most Obvious crushes ever so theyre just relentless towards him. also theyre competing over who kohaku and hiiro like more

I think Eichi and Rei love to dote on Aira like he’s their kid and they have split custody (even though they all live in the same dorm). Like how when rich parents are getting divorced they try to buy their kid’s love to turn them against the other parent or something stupid. Except Aira has no idea they’re doing this and is just so thrilled they pay any attention to him (he has no idea what to do with the extravagant gifts though).

(gonna answer out of order because the event stuff turned into a huge block of text, sorry!)

I've seen a few of the localizations, but I don't know a lot about the Eng version, so I can't speak too much about differences. (I do think "housewarden" has a better sound to it than "dorm leader" though...they need a fancy little word to match their fancy little outfits.) I did look up the unique magic/signature spells to see if they were able to somehow work in the glossing -- I'm not even sure how you would localize that without it being super weird, so I don't blame them, but I was a little sad anyway! :( in Japanese, they're all written as Japanese phrases with the English as ruby text, and sometimes they're given a little extra meaning. like -- this is where the episode 7 spoilers I'm tagging are) the words that Mal says are "Fae of Maleficence":

but the meaning of the Japanese is "Blessing", which is a nice little "ooooh" moment given the context of it!

there isn't always an extra meaning, sometimes it's just. super literal. but my other favorite is Jack's, where what he means is "✨howl that pierces the moonlit night✨", but what he actually yells is "UNLEASH BEAST" before turning into a giant dog. what a good boy.

as for event advice (under the cut, because this was already getting long)...

speaking as someone who is 100% F2P and therefore also tends to get kind of burnt by some of these events -- the #1 most important thing is to just...make peace with not getting everyone. :') I am a collector-type person, so it definitely gets grating when I can't have all the fancy PNGs my little packrat heart desires. generally though: never do random pulls, always be saving your keys and gems between events. (once a month you can buy a 10-set from Sam for a 50 gem discount, and logging in on a character's birthday will give you a 10-set for free, so make sure to do those!). when the event info starts coming out, pick one or two cards that you really want and work specifically towards those, focusing on grinding out the items and/or using your saved-up pulls on their specific banner. and in the end, accept that it might just not be meant to be, even if you hit the 100-pull pity SSR no I'm not still bitter over fairy gala Ortho why do you ask. if the event doesn't have any cards that you really want, take it as an opportunity to save for the next one!

hoard your star fragments (the things that restore AP) -- if you're going for a card that requires grinding event items to permanently unlock, and the item is one you get from lessons, you can use star fragments to bump your AP up to 30 at a time (10 is the limit that will restore over time, but 30 is the max you can have at once). that makes for a looong lesson loop, but I usually get about 50-60 items per 30 lessons, and I just let it run in the background while doing other stuff. (usually these items are what also unlock the event story, so I'll do a huge amount of lessons first thing and then have enough to get the whole story at once. 👍) it can get really grindy, but events go on for a while so it's not usually that bad if you space it out a bit, instead of waiting until the last minute to try and get those last 600 items (cough) (cough).

if it's one of the ones where you get the item from doing a rhythmic, you get the same amount of items no matter how well you do, even if you miss every note. so you can just...tap occasionally to restart it and get the same effect. if it's a battle one, you do have to actually win to get the item, but once you figure out the sweet spot of a team setup + highest battle level where you win every time, it becomes basically the same deal.

so...yeah, tl;dr you can get away with a lot just by setting things up to run in the background and paying just enough attention to tap through some of the menus. it does require a certain amount of time to just leave your phone while still sorta-kinda paying attention to it, so it might not work for everyone, but that's the best way I've found to get through most events!

Matt did not intend to mentally time travel back to the past. He's not even sure how it happened. He dimly recalls finding some sort of weird... crystal thing? So maybe that has something to do with it? Or maybe it has nothing to do with it? He doesn't know. If there's one thing all his time out in space has proven, it's that sometimes weird shit happens that he simply cannot explain. He has made his peace with this (even though it still drives Pidge insane).

All he knows is that one day, he wakes up and he can barely see. This turns out to be because he is back in his sixteen year old body somehow, so he still needs glasses. It looks like he was somehow sent back to when he'd just enrolled at the Galaxy Garrison. Which is... weird. It didn't really hit him how much he'd changed until he found himself in his past self's body.

Okay. This is fine. He can work with this. He can't stop Kerberos from happening, but he can definitely be prepared for it. First things first is getting his ass (back?) into shape. If he does it now, he can avoid the training from hell that Ozar and Olia will eventually put him through. He'll also have to make sure to stay on top of all of his classes so he's still selected to go on the Kerberos mission. That's fine. He can listen to audiobooks while he trains.

Also he should probably take some piloting classes. He's going to need that knowledge eventually. Building up muscle memory will be important later.

Also maybe he should befriend Keith while he's at it. This isn't like. a requirement or anything, he just thinks it would be nice. He really started to like the guy back when they were running joint missions together with the rebel and the Blade. Maybe it can even help assuage this weird out of place feeling he has all the time now, that makes him feel like he's some kind of alien on his own home planet.

And while he's at it, he might as well get his eyes fixed early. It feels weird to have to use glasses again after all these years. Actually having short hair feels weird too? That's easy enough. He'll just stop getting his hair cut.
