background
people travel to the upper heart of southhampton each year for one of the most sought after cosmetic surgeons in america. despite marrying into a moderate family wealth, dr. brooks always took pride in the fact he built a fortune and reputation of his own from the ground up.
unless you witnessed the whirlwind romance between the young medical student and law student, it would appear that the wife of dr brooks couldn’t be further than suited for him. while he'd grown to value status, talking investments and flaunting his deep pockets at charity benefits, she wore her heart on her sleeve with the worthy causes she worked for. she never cared much for her parents’ money that would one day be left for her.
cieran’s mother was devoted to her work, particularly in her latter years as an overqualified legal officer for family services. it became known that on several occasions she would be predisposed to open their home to a child in need until they found their way into foster care. even if she was sometimes distracted, growing up, cieran could always depend on her as something stable.
when it came to his father, he was raised with one rule “ good things come to those who work hard, who aren’t afraid to play it rough and hurt feelings, cier ”. it only took him starting to grow into his own morals before he realised his dad was no hero. even when he was still a hero in the younger boy’s eyes, there were missed birthdays, missed sports games, and promises always pushed out to a later time. it all left cieran desparate for the pride and unconditional love of his father that was always twenty steps out of reach.
it was his mom and grandfather who took him to his first tennis match in new york that piqued the interest. then it seemed the powers that be had a plan for him when he first held a racket. not so much for the love he had for it but for the natural talent that seemed destined to stop the world from spinning to watch. he was quickly signed to one of the best junior coaches in the area and that soon evolved to games in junior events to a place at a top tennis academy.
it was when cieran was becoming an official ‘ american up and comer to watch ’ his father started giving him the attention he’d always desperately wanted. only both his desire to play for the love of the sport and his want for his father’s attention now became something that... he didn’t. after more than eighteen years of wishing, now he resented being his father’s new pride and boasting right. whilst still busier than ever in the world of surgery, his father positioned himself front and centre when it came to the guidance of cieran’s management. there was always a better coach to be had, a better game tactic to focus on, better sponsors... resentment only grew for his father when cieran discovered he was being unfaithful to his mom.
ranked number fifteen worldwide and climbing at age twenty five, when a bad rotator cuff injury took him out of the running for months worth of tournaments, the first thing cier felt was... relief.
current
cier’s life has settled to a slow in his hometown of the hamptons while he undergoes rehab for his injury.
he’s trying to evade being his father’s great pride, or his father’s great letdown, or his father’s anything really. he’s also fighting with direction in his life, feeling no particular pull back towards tennis other than the all-powerful rip current of what everyone else EXPECTS him do. but then if not tennis... what else?  perhaps it’s only a matter of time before he finds his way or perhaps he’ll stay directionless?

Hi, I love your writing! I’d love a Travis one shot where he’s a guest on our podcast or we’re one of the sports interviewer after a game and we engage in a lot of flirty banter which ends up with him sliding in our dm’s!
Call Her Daddy?
Tumblr media
Request? Yes/No! Description: Having the most famous podcasts on the internet, You have a guest who loves to flirt. Note: Thank you so much! It means the world. Here is your request! Much Love, TherapyCat21
"Hello, I'm Y/n and welcome to call her daddy, on today's episode we have three three-time Super Bowl champion and tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, please welcome, Travis Kelce!" I smiled and looked over at the 6'5 bearded man in the lavender fluffy chair with headphones and a mic.
He smirks before bringing the mic to his mouth "Hello, hello thank you for having me" He smiles at the camera and turns back to face me. He never fails to have a smile on his face.
"So congratulations on your current win, I was grateful to be one of the fans in the stadium watching live this year and it was amazing to witness, how have you felt recently after all the chaos with winning a third Super Bowl?" I ask.
"Uhm it definitely has been chaotic since but things are kind of slowing down now, right now I'm kinda just relaxing and taking a good time off, eating a bunch of junk food before the next season" he chuckles.
I laugh "Hey, I would do the same if I did what you do, what's your favorite junk food?" I questioned "Definitely gotta be spicy nacho Doritos or the chunky chips ahoy cookies. " he smirked
"ooh, those sound good! but the real question is, what drink?" I smirk back. "how bout this, I'll give you the brand and we both try to name the same?" he suggests. I nod in agreement "Okay, I'm down." I tell him.
"Okay so the brand is Fanta" he looks at me with a lazy smirk. I squint my eyes at him before they widen. He claps his hands together in excitement "You know damn well which flavor I'm talkin about! On the count of three, we say it at the same time!" He tells me. I nod
I laugh before sighing "Okay ready?" I questioned, He nods
"1!"
"2!"
"3!"
"GRAPE!"
I jump from my seat laughing, as I settle back in my seat, he leans over and we high five "That's my girl, I knew you'd get it, great minds think alike" he says with a lovesick smile.
I smiled back "This has been awesome, thank you so much for coming on today, I definitely needed this!" I say with the most genuine smile I've had in months. He nods, clasping his hands together "No thank you, It feels good to be interviewed like this, We really have to do this again." he suggests.
I nod over at him "Absolutely, thanks to Travis for making room and coming onto Call Her Daddy today," I look at the camera "Please remember to like and subscribe and remember to check back soon to see who the next guest is next week! Bye everyone!" I wave at the camera before the signal is off.
I look at Travis "Seriously thank you so much for making time and coming on today, it means a lot " I tell him as I stand up from my seat. He stands "No thank you needed, It was refreshing, I needed this"
My social media manager comes over to us "Okay, can we get a picture of you two together to upload for this week's episode?" She questions.
We both nod and shuffle closer together and I finally see how tall he is compared to me, He places himself practically touching sides, throws his arm around my shoulder, and lays his head on the top of mine and we both smile as the picture is captured.
"thank you both so much," she says before walking to upload the picture.
We let go and hang out for a little longer before his manager tells us it's time for him to attend another event. We stand up from the seats we sat back on to talk more and hug each other goodbye.
I finally get back home and decide to take a shower and watch some TV with my cat when I get a notification, I open Instagram to see tons of notifications from the picture of me and Travis my manager posted for the new episode.
I look over to see a new message request, I click and see it's Travis, I smile before clicking the notification to see he tried sending me a message.
"I had an amazing time with you today, I was hoping we could do it again but this time at a nice restaurant at 8 this Friday? Let me know soon!"
I sit in shock before I respond
"Absolutely, here's my number so we can discuss this more (xxx-xxx-xxxx) ;)"

I FINALLY GOT AROUND TO WATCHING THE GIGGLE NOW THAT MY MOTHER IS WELL, I'M ONLY ONE ENTIRE WEEK LATE BUT HERE'S MY GIGGLE THOUGHTS
-okay, for one I am not as averse to the bi-regeneration as some people have been. I saw that leak detailing it waaaay earlier, and I was honestly excited more than disappointed. As long as they don't do this every single time future doctors regenerate- which would suck-it was fine as a one-off thing, and made sense for the iteration of 14. Of course he would be brought back so that he could go home and stay there. And 15 gets to go gallivanting off and start off the new season, so alls well. I dont think it takes away from Ncuti's arrival as the doctor at all because he had most of the focus of the episode from when he split off and became real.
-I could not help but draw parallels between all the people of earth thinking they are right and denying wearing the... whatever they were called, the rings- and covid and masking stuff and whatever which I guess was the point. The toymaker referencing 'cancelling' was so cringe though lmaoo
-Kate Lethbridge Stewart you are my wife forever <3
-what the fuck was that robot there for. the vlinx. This is like, for suuuuure we are getting a UNIT spinoff soon and the inclusion of that weird robot is gonna be part of it. Literally everything is pointing to a UNIT spinoff and that was so obvious in this episode. I don't have opinions for or against the existence of a UNIT spinoff, btw.
-the callback to the Moffat companions was great. Shame he mentions Amy but not Rory?? hello? he was very much touched by a weeping angel too.
-Overall, I didnt hate the toymaker as a villain, but it was like... i don't know. a discount master. I guess he was fun, but I wouldn't be too keen on seeing him return anytime soon.
-that being said, spice up your life was very fun :3 Oh I'm going to have that in my head forever, aren't I..
-Please don't reference the year as a big speech in the episode of television you're making. Yes I understand it's because it's the anniversary but does nobody else find it super cringe when they're all like.. oMG.. 2023... maybe that's just because im super tired of that trend back in 2020 where verbalising the fact it was 2020 was used as like the marketing campaign of every single brand
-mel bush was certainly there! for, I guess, reasons! maybe I'd care more if I'd seen her back in the like... 80s, but I didn't, and so it was like. okay. were there any classic fans watching jumping out of their seats when she was on screen? I just feel like when the doctor reunites with an old companion, it always feels shallow. Like when 13 reunited with Tegan and ace in power of the doctor. It just felt like she didn't really know them anymore and we only really saw 14 exchange pleasantries with Mel as if they were friends meeting back after a couple years in a grocery store aisle. I think they more or less got it right in school reunion, seeing ten with Sarah Jane was so wonderful. But that was a whole episode centred around their reunion and when you're introducing a past companion as part of a special or big anniversary episode you kind of have to push it aside in favour of the other stuff you have to show, making it feel like, what was really the point? a companion is such an important person in the doctors life and it feels narratively unsatisfying to bring them back to satiate or entertain older fans but not really centre any part of the episode on the doctor and this companion they formed a real bond with.
-if I was donna I would have stepped right on that doll the first time I saw it and smooshed it into the floorboards like a spider
-I feel like they played catch too fairly. For one, why even bother throwing the ball back and forth between yourselves? dont tempt fate like that. take all your shots at the toymaker. surely it wouldn't have been hard to just lob it a little bit to the left and off the edge a lot sooner. He'd say you were a bad throw but I doubt he could prove it
-I liked the imagery of the rose petals shooting out of the guns I dont know I just thought that was neat
-oh, speaking of! Rose mention! the doctor said he loved rose in 2023. Well, in a stilted way (next point) but man I guess this can be considered a timepetals win???
-the dialogue just didnt crackle and to a point and with a few expeditions this has been the case for all the specials. I don't know if im looking at it all the wrong way, but there's something a little bit devoid of life when compared to earlier seasons. It's not deal-breaking for me. But I think it was especially potent this episode.
-The TARDIS having a ramp is pretty great but why not let her in it?? why show her ( cant remember her name but the UNIT officer in the wheelchair) you show her it has a ramp now and she's happy about that, but nah fuck it you can't come in and have a look.
-The TARDIS also looks so much better with the warm yellow lights and I'd have warmed to it a lot more if it ALWAYS had that warm yellow lighting instead of the sterile whiteness 14 was kicking around in.
-Seen many people mention it already but the fact that was 14 was going commando after the regeneration because 15 got the underwear is hilarious. and he had the dogs out and all. my man. only in doctor who can the climax of an episode be the protagonists and the villain saving the world by playing a game of catch and one is barefoot and the other is literally in his undies. huh
-tentoo did not win ffs. just one mention. just somebody asking how he's going where he's at. just someone considering him at all. a fucking throwaway line. DONNA KNEW HIM. im going to bite my hand off and rtd better have something planned, some good reason for acting like he doesn't exist in these specials. Like even if when they were talking about the doctor settling down and having a domestic life, even if donna had said like "like that other you did" and then we all moved on. but literally act like he doesn't exist I guess
-I'd probably sooner kill myself than live with Sylvia noble but good for 14 for his ending. it was cheesy as all hell but whatever. it deserved to be. It was sweet. It was nothing I'm going to go crazy over but whatever. sure.
-I'm excited for 15 because I do love what we saw of him here. he's fun and he seems to be a bit more free of all the baggage his prior incarnations held which is good. I'm interested to see what he's like but this ep sets him up as quite promising.
-alright, wrapping up, this episode was by far the worst of the three specials, and left me feeling unsatisfied with some things and happy with others. overall, im not taking it too seriously because the episode itself wasn't doing that, it was just a bit of fun and flashy and a bit stupid but it had to be because it's tennats proper sendoff and an anniversary special. It was fine. And I'm glad, im so glad overall that we got these three episodes. I do think that doctor who is so back and im so happy to be a fan.

Hail to the King, baby! Ohsama Sentai! Kingohger! ...or is it King Ohger? I'll tag it both just in case. It's a brand new Sentai, for a brand new tag!
"Rejoice O Swarming Evil! You're My King!"
I am immensely excited, so no more delaying.
Spoilers, I guess...
-Five Heroes, and their God.
-Well, the CG is certainly... better!
-I love the look of this planet.
-Tikyu, I believe? Might as well just call it Yarph.
-The Bugnarak are coming back!
-Pardon you?
-It's all very stylized and detailed, I appreciate that a lot.
-Shugoddam! A... very funny name, I hope it's not foreshadowing.
-Ahhhh, a festival~!
-I feel at home already.
-Lots and lotsa bug folk!
-A ceremony?
-The kings are comin'~!
-A whole roundtable, coming forth.
-Hello, you must be Lord Racules.
-I am honored to make your presence.
-This is Queen Himeno of Ishabana.
-Oh lord, that's so much shiny.
-I mean no offense, your majesty, but this is almost certainly going to be the most CG heavy Sentai season yet.
-Toufu! ...that might be the dumbest name for any of these kingdoms.
-Kaguragi Dybowski! ...I didn't realize Poland was a country Toei even knew existed.
-Ah yep, this one! Everyone was talking about them a hell of a lot.
-King and Chief Magistrate of Gokkan. Has so much GNC swag that it practically emanates off them.
-Thank you for this, Toei, seriously.
-Chief Justice Rita, I love you already.
-And of course Yanma-shachou. Cyberpunk himself.
-I might end up calling you Yanmega by accident, sorry in advance.
-Oh fuck, he lives in Peta, run my lord, they're gonna use your autism to lie about milk!
-Here they come. Royalty in a procession of CGI.
-Legendary Swords~!
-Considering how big and important it seems to be, I'm assuming Shugoddamn's also the center of the land's religion?
-That's pretty neat, kinda like the Theocracy of Allistel from Radiant Historia.
-Oh shit, real location!
-Sorry, I don't mean to harp on the CGI so much, it's honestly not bad at all, but goddamn.
-I suppose this was the blood price to pay for the demand of real suits for every ranger.
-Gira! King of Evil!
-Conquer the world!
-Oh come now Kogane-san, you gotta get into it!
-Oh fuck, taxes.
-Hmmm... I'm sensing a corrupt bureaucracy in our midst.
-Gira comin' in to commit a crime.
-Too cringe for Kogane-san.
-Yeah! Get fucked!
-Doing it for the people!
-Quite a good guy, this King of Evil.
-No more petty squabbles. Now is the time for unity.
-King Racles, offers is life for the people of the world.
-Oop.
-Seems like we've already broken down.
-"You need me. You need my power."
-Yeah, I don't trust you, Racles.
-Damn, Rita don't fuck around, do they?
-"I'm the top", yeah that's what they all say.
-Jururira?
-Sounds tasty.
-Oh fuck, here they come.
-The bad guy bugs!
-Big Daddy Desnarak.
-"Move out, my minions- I mean, my friends! Royal Arms!"
-Have to admit, the CG's at least growing on me a lot more than I expected it to.
-Kogane!
-Homegirl's dying!
-"The King... he'll protect us."
-...seems like that was an empty lie.
-Dickhead king.
-Jesus Christ, this man is heartless.
-"Once Emperor Desnarak's head rolls, Yanma Gust's and the people of N'Kosopa shall soon follow."
-Right, you're super evil.
-Hotdamn, Himeno's kicking serious ass.
-Everybody is, holy crap.
-Damn Toei, I see you.
-Hohohohohoho!
-Yanma's haxxor powers are no match for divine tradition.
-So that's why they pushed the whole King of Evil thing so hard.
-All the world shall be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies.
-Gira! Conquer the world in the name of God and people!
-Big Bug!
-"HOW!?"
-Qua God!
-March for the King of Evil, my friends!
-Royal Arms!
-Oooooooh, I love the amber
-You Are The King!
-Kuwagon! Let's fly!
-Oh my lord
-Okay, that's cool
-Shugod!
-Right out the gate! Time to combine!
-God has descended!
-Hot damn, I'm enjoying this a lot.
-Oh God, where did the Spider Shot come from
-"Insignificant worm! Bow before your King!"
-Yeah, this is gonna be a fun ride.
-Thank you, Kuwagon.
-The kings
-"Bring the traitor's head to me, minions!"
-Headed to N'Kosopa!
-Oh shit, ad read.
-OH FUCK ACE
-Ohhhhh, this is the SHT bumper.
-Sorry, the subs I usually find omit these.
-That's pretty sick.
-Love how he brought Big Sis Tsumuri with him, that's cute.

progress report: it's chewsdae innit
hello hello i slept most of the day away!
lately, at my job, there hasn't been a lot of work, so i have a lot of downtime, which i have spent sleeping instead of working on shadowing activities. don't tell my boss.
i've also been drawing a lot! most of them are of moz and ulysses, becauase i am incapable of stopping myself from drawing moments of tenderness between those two, but some have been of other ocs, too, like kiwi and my brand new baby, liksi tabris, from dragon age: origins, which brings me to....
played. dragon age: origins! i've already played like 5hrs of it a few years ago, as a dwarf, but i didn't really feel it. i am feeling it now, as a city elf, even though the first hour is... rough, to say the least. who thought that racism and the potential sexual abuse of the player character is a good way to introduce the game?? but i found myself engrossed, so i'll keep playing. here's to hoping i don't get bored with it.
listened. mania by fall out boy! they have a new single coming out on the 18th, so i gave this album a listen for the first time ever. i don't understand the hate that it gets? it's a solid album. not their best - that goes to folie a deux and infinity on high - but it's not as terrible as some fans make it seem. but some people just have visceral reactions to their faves changing up their sound. which is weird to me, because shouldn't you encourage growth and experimentation? if your art gets stagnant, you die. anyway, favorite song is HOLD ME TIGHT OR DON'T. this line fucks me up: "and when your stich comes loose / i want to sleep on every piece of fuzz and stuffing that comes out of you" pete is crazy for writing that!!!
youtube
watched. the menu (2022) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ a fun little feast. it's delicious to watch. i found it super funny, the way the eaters still thank the chef even after the craziness. the quiet acceptance of their death. the final exchange between margot and the chef. super funny. it's saying something about social cues, class, the service industry, etc, but i am not sure what. an incisive critique of society it is not. it is however, entertainment, and i was fully entertained. so it did the job.
the last of us s01e01 (2023) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ super good introduction!! i cried. it felt like a video game, almost? like i should be holding a controller. i actually don't know much about the world because i only played the first few hours, but i'm excited to watch it all unfold.
misc. have a self-portrait :)

Positivity anon is back again and wishing you and yours a very happy weekend! Do you have any upcoming holiday plans that you're excited for? Or, if you don't celebrate the holidays, then is there anything you're looking forward to that's happening in the next few weeks? Also, if I happen to not be around for this, I'd like to wish you a very happy holidays and a Happy New Year as well! Keep on shining, you wonderful star! ♡
hello, anon!
apologies for not answering this sooner but at least i'm getting to it now, right?! and ... in all honesty ... i don't. i mean, like, my mom and i plan on having a late thanksgiving dinner when she comes home at the end of next week so i'm super excited about that. i'm also very happy about crisis core reunion coming out on tuesday, december 13th! so i'm definitely going to be spending lots and lots of time playing that. i'm hoping that'll help bring my motivation / inspiration back to start roleplaying on here tbh because i miss doing stuff on here.
i also made a brand new rping blog for leon from pokemon swsh! but unfortunately i'm not gonna be doing much on his blog for a hot minute because, for some stupid reason, stupidr keeps terminating my blogs for no reason whatsoever. so i'm just throwing stuff into the queue and letting that run for about two weeks before i do anything.

Daniel 7:1-28, 1 John 1:1-10, Psalms 119:153-176, Proverbs 28:23-24
Today is November 30th. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s great to be here on a day where we’re ending a week and ending the month at the same time. And, of course, is the final day of the 11th month of the year, leaving only one month left in this year and one month left in our journey through the Scriptures this year. Today is the 334th day out of 365. And from the Old Testament we will move back into the book of Daniel, which we’re working our way through now and then we get to the New Testament we will be reunited with somebody that we got to know pretty well during this year, John. But we’ll talk about that when we get there. First, we’re reading from the New International Version this week, which is today. Daniel chapter 7.
Introduction to first John:
Okay. As we move forward into our New Testament reading, as I mentioned at the beginning, we’re being reunited with somebody that we know and we got to know him in the Gospels as one of the disciples of Jesus, John. And, so, we’ll begin the first of three letters that are attributed to the apostle John. Ironically, this letter that we’re about to read makes no mention at all of who it's from and it does not even specify at all who it's addressed to. So, it be would easy enough, like other books in the Bible, for example, the book of Hebrews, to conclude that this is an anonymous letter. We don't know. But church fathers in the second century, so just like about 50 years after this letter was written attributed the letter to John the evangelist and neither the letter nor its author were disputed when the New Testament was canonized, so when it was organized into the accepted New Testament that we have today. It's only been in more recent centuries that scholars have begun to ask questions as sciences develop. For example, stylistic or language differences between the gospel of John and these letters, the epistles of John. Part of the reason for not addressing the letter to a specific group of people may have been that it was intended to be circulated to many people throughout many churches. It's possible that the first readers were familiar enough with…with John that he didn't need to introduce himself in the letter. So, he would've known the people that he was writing to and was overseeing their churches and they knew who he was. It’s also possible that those who were receiving the letter weren't identified in case the letter fell into the wrong hands, so in order to protect the people from additional persecution. This first letter or this first epistle of John was probably written from Ephesus and it was probably very late in John's life. Most scholars would date the letter around the mid-90s and some even into the early 100s and John was writing this letter for one reason, he was addressing false teachings. Some of the earliest forms of teachings that we…we would now call Gnostic teachings had become a part of the conversation, especially this early view known as a Docetic view or Docetism, that Jesus wasn't really actually a human being in the same way that we are flesh and blood, but simply appeared to be that way. Or another earlier teacher, Cerinthus who taught that the spirit of Christ, the divinity, the God parts of Jesus actually united with the human part of Jesus when He was baptized. And, so, He was divine from that point all the way through to His crucifixion when this divine spirit, then departed this fleshly Jesus. So I'm…it's…it’s not so hard in our day and age to understand that there are various and very diverse views of the Christian faith all influenced by all kinds of things, tying being one of them. But we get a glimpse here looking backward to the early formation of the church in that early time and see that all kinds of questions were being asked and all kinds of theories were being put forward. John though, even though he's like a late in his life, is still alive and is in a unique position here, a position of authority because he was there, like he had been there, he was a part of Jesus inner circle. He had been with Jesus from the beginning of his ministry. So, although any number of things could be thought about Jesus, John…John was there, he saw it. So, he could dispel a falsehood about Jesus, basically because he had an eyewitness account. And that’s pretty much what he does here in verse John. But beyond just denouncing a false teaching, the letter offers contrasts, ways to test the postures of our heart in these matters while encouraging us forward and assuring us of our salvation because that was the heart of the matter here. All of these differing opinions in all of this discussion, which continues until today, confused people about where they were with God. And, so, as we as we finish this 11th month of our year let's reunite with an old friend. The last we heard of him…well…we learned about him and in the synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of John…told the story of Jesus life for the final time. Now some time has passed, the church is beginning to form, and we get to hear from him again. And, so, we begin. First John chapter 1.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for another week in Your word and…and…and we thank You for another month in Your word. And as those two endings come together on this day, we are grateful, we are thankful, You have brought us through 11 months every single day and transformation is profoundly visible as we look inside. And, so, we’re thankful because it works, Your word is alive and is powerful and does reach down to the level of our identity and speaks truth to us there. And, so, we are so eternally grateful that You are, that You are raising us up so that we live with boldness and confidence, not only about who we are, but about who You are, which is so vastly more important because without You we can do nothing. And, so, we take this moment here at the end of a week and the end of a month just to offer our worship, just to offer our thanks, to offer our love. We thank You Father for Your presence in our lives at all times and we invite Your Holy Spirit now to continually make us aware of Your presence, and we pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hello wonderful prayer warriors out there. This is Vonnie from Northern California calling out to the woman from the Pacific Northwest. I’m sorry I didn’t get your name, but the Lord knows your name. You have been left by your husband with five children and my heart breaks for you. This is a very lonely time, very uncertain time. And dear Lord I pray for my friend in the Pacific Northwest. Lord Jesus please give her a freedom from fear, give her Your piece because You have promised to be the husband to the widow, the husband to the woman who’s alone and we trust You first to be our security, to be our safety, to be our intimate provider and protector. And I ask You to supply every need. Please do not allow her home to be taken. But we pray together that You would bring that man back to his senses. God, please reach out to him and minister to his hurting heart that is defying You and everything that he knows to be right and take away this desire for something that’s not of You. Bring him back to You God. I just ask in Jesus’ name that You’d break the enemy’s hold. Bring him back to his wife and family in Jesus precious name.
Good morning DAB family this is Married and Alone. I’ve been a listener for about four years, but this is the first time I’ve ever called with a prayer request. So, how do you fit 20 years of hard egg into a two-minute audio clip? My husband suffers from intimacy anorexia which is the active withholding of emotional, physical, and spiritual intimacy from a spouse. And as a result, he has withheld love from me for our 20-year marriage. And instead they replace it with criticism and blame and they control you with anger. And if it weren’t for my Lord, I would have no self-esteem at all, but I know…I know God is with me, His grace and His mercy always there for me. And while my husband says I’m unlovable my Lord tells me He loves me. And while my husband makes me feel ugly my Lord tells me I’m beautiful. And, so, I thank God for…for that. I’m still recovering from the last verbally abuse session and haven’t been able to speak to my husband for a week. And, so, I know that that conversation needs to happen because Thanksgivings coming. So, pray for me that I would have the wisdom to say what I need to say and just hold us up in prayer. More to come. Married and Alone. Thank you DAB family. Love you.
What is peace? Is it a piece of cake, delicious gluten-free chocolate fudge cake? Is it a part of a puzzle? Are there are many different pieces that make a bigger picture? Don’t we all want peace? Then why do I fight to get my own way? Why do I strive to get the latest things? Why do I struggle against myself and the world? Why do I contend with those around me? I see the conflicts being waged worldwide, the discontent, the nonstop fighting, the suffering and death. Where is peace? Peace is not worrying about my family. Peace is not worrying about the future. Peace is not worrying about money. Peace is not worrying what people think. Peace is not worrying what to do. I want peace more than a delicious slice of gluten-free cake. I want the whole picture. I want the missing piece. I want to be complete. I want to find peace. Peace is a man named Jesus, a man who walked this earth and showed us how to live, showed us what it is to be human and paid the ultimate price for us our Prince of peace. Peace is choosing joy, celebrating the small things, reveling in the presence of our God and His blessings. Peace is living in expectation of His provision, trusting in His mercy and grace. Peace is sharing our thoughts and feelings with our Father and with our Prince and with our advocate. Peace is being grateful for what we have, it’s learning to be content, it’s remembering who I am, a daughter of the King. I want that peace from God, the peace that surpasses all understanding. The piece that will guard my heart and mind. So, I will trust in the Lord with all my heart and I will love the Lord with all of myself.
Hi this is Jack in Wisconsin. Heard today in the prayer section of a woman who’s going through a divorce. She’s got five kids. I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to be praying for you and I’m really thinking of you. I have the perspective of this situation in that I was an unfaithful husband. And I am in the process of trying to put my marriage back together again with God’s grace and help. I am in repentance and I’m desperately trying to win the heart of my wife back, but it may not work. So, I would covet your prayers in return, that my wife’s heart opens and softens to me. Especially as we enter the holiday season it’s particularly hard. And again, for the woman, I just want you to know that I’m going to be thinking and praying for you and your family intently. And thank you for sharing. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Good morning Daily Audio Bible family this is his beloved and California. I just want to say happy Thanksgiving and I’m just so thankful for you, each of you, my family. It’s amazing. I just love and adore. And this is the beginning of my day every day and thank you to Brian and Jill for creating this amazing family here on earth that we are so connected in Spirit. Shanna from Oklahoma, when you called and said you got your job for…with the…calling in with a praise report and you said you might have shed a tear you opened the email, I shed a tear when I heard you got a job. I was so happy for you. I’m praying for you. So, that made me happy. Patricia from New Orleans, I love you call in. And keep calling in. You’re in my daily prayers for healing and also for your family situation. I looked up what you told us to look up and I am praying for you. Please pray for my son’s girlfriend Jenna’s mother who is not doing well with her cancer. And her daughter went home to be with her and take care of her. And I just ask for you to cover her in prayer. Also please pray for me. My mind is playing tricks on me with a recurring infection I’m getting. And, of course, I’m thinking the worst thing possible. So, I was up all night. Please pray for healing of my mind body and spirit in this and that the Lord would just heal me up and all would be well in that situation. I love all of you. Thank you, prayer warriors who call in. You know who you are, the staples here. God bless you all.
Hi, I’m calling, I’ve called many years ago and now is the first time in a long time. I’m going to call myself Finding Great Comfort. I want to thank this community because I can reach out in prayer to you. My heart is heavy as I lift this prayer. Lord God Almighty intercede for my daughter Colene. She needs your healing, sober mindedness, and courage to do the right things for herself, her family, and her children. Intercede Lord by your mighty grace for mothers like her suffering and causing suffering. I ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ who came, lived, died, rose again, and lives and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. I ask your mercy, your grace and restoration. As we finished up first Peter today it says love covers a multitude of sins. To love deeply. Loving deeply means that we are stretched beyond our understanding. And here we are Lord. I ask for your grace and your mercy. At this time of Thanksgiving I am thankful for family and even the sufferings of grace. Please cover us and restore us in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hey Lolly! I just got a line number for Staff Sergeant! I'm excited but super nervous. I know you're already an NCO and I think you're pretty cool, so I wondered if you might have any advice for me? My biggest worry is that I want to do right for my troops and be understanding and set them up for success without being a pushover. :'D
I’m sorry I didn’t answer this earlier, i was away at warfighter training, wheee. So FIRST OFF, I’m sorry if most of this stuff is what you’ve already heard of. I am not trying to insult your intelligence I promise. Just putting emphasis on important things I’ve learned along the way!!
THE TRANSITION TO NCO CAN BE ROUGH There is a huuuge jump between junior enlisted and NCO. You are now accountable for your actions as well as your officers, and subordinates. Also your junior enlisted pals are..not just pals anymore. They are now your subordinates and need to see each other a little differently now. If not? You’re going to have to put your foot down and it’s gonna suck. But none the less, be the leader you needed when you were junior enlisted and you’ll do just fine. =)
YOU’RE GOING TO FUCK UP SOMETIMES We ALL fuck up as brand new NCOs. It’s GOING. TO. HAPPEN.  Learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward, my friend.
THEY ARE LIVING, BREATHING HUMAN BEINGS, NOT NUMBERSNever ever put them through hell if you’re not capable of handling it yourself.
KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NECESSARY DISCIPLINE AND SELF-REWARDING ABUSEDo not punish a subordinate just to make yourself feel better or vent off steam you’ve had on them. Only punish an equivalent of the ill meaning action they made. Use your best judgement, not your heart on these decisions. Make time in your schedule for them if need be for the corrective action. (ex: PT failure, you make them go to the gym with you to ensure they are getting the right exercise and can pass)
FAKE MOTIVATION IS BETTER THAN NO MOTIVATION Fake it till you make it! Being a NCO will rip you out of your comfort zone very, VERY often. Remember, they’re looking up to you for guidance!
DON’T SHOW THAT THEY’RE GETTING TO YOU Expectations on you multiply tenthfold by everyone. There are times where even your best wasn’t enough and you get chewed out for something you had no actual control over. Hold it in until you can cry on the shower floor alone in the middle of the night if you have to, but don’t let them have that power over you.
A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY… Say hello to everyone, check up on them, ask little questions every once in a while. Learn little things about them so that when they’re really sad or mad, you’ll know how to perk them right up and defuse situations. You’d be amazed at how receptive people will be if you just take the time to notice them.
ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO GET PROMOTED: Constantly ask people of the progression for their next rank and promotion packets. Make sure they’re getting slots for their schools, and that they’re talking to the right people. Make sure they have “I Love Me” books too.
LEARN TO PROJECT YOUR VOICE, NEVER LOOK DOWN AND KEEP SPINE STRAIGHT WHEN WALKING...Looking the part is halfway there, and actions will drive you home. Speak from your diaphragm, not your throat. Inject confidence into your words like they're indisputable. (which they naturally should be)
RAPPORT RAPPORT RAPPORT RAPPORT: There will be times when its not what YOU know, but what THEY know too. Crosstalk with other sections and learn what they do too! You’d be surprised how beneficial others can be to you (and likewise)
YOU WON’T MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY Sometimes you’re going to have to make some really cringey decisions you really don’t want to do. Use your best judgement and stick to your guns.
YOUTUBE IS YOUR FRIEND!!!! Freshen up with a manual as well as watching youtube for visual. Literally almost anything you can think of is on that site. It’ll save a life trust me
CTRL+FThis will save you so much time when looking up something on google or when you’re researching an online manual or any other resource for that matter.
LEARN TO “FORECAST”/PLAN AHEADDon’t just tell your peoples to be at the motor pool for clean up duty and not think to bring/tell to bring any cleaning supplies. Predict what you’ll need and act accordingly. ACT, DON’T REACT.
CONSTANTLY WRITE DOWN NOTES, ALSO GET A WATCH, ALSO EXCELWrite down all the things, especially times, dates, and locations as well as which subordinate you sent on which task. Get a watch since there will be times you cant use your cell phone. Also, if you know how to use excel minimally, it’ll make your life so much easier with keeping track of things and compiling information. With the power of all these combined, you’ll be top tier highspeed.
LEARN TO DELEGATE!! DONT LEAVE THEM OUT IN THE COLD!! Remember that your subordinates are there for you just as much as you are there for them!! Use any moment you can as a teaching moment. Doing some complicated paperwork or task? Dont ignore them, teach them as you go along! Teach them what YOU know! Be on the same page so that when you’re super busy and could use a hand, you can give them tasks with confidence of their abilities. Give clear instruction, and a time limit if need be. Not only does this keep them busy and out of trouble, but also good for future bullet points on awards for promotion points…. *WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE*
DON’T FORGET HOW IMPORTANT INITIAL COUNSELINGS AREMake your boundaries known to your peoples, especially your pet peeves. Set the standard as well as your own personal ones on day one. Make sure you both have a solid copy of the counseling so that if they try to come back at you for something, you can simply show them your copy as proof. ;)
FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE NOT END ALL, BE ALL/RUMORS ARE DUMBSee for YOURSELF that a person is genuinely a shitbag. Remember that there is a such thing as toxic leadership and some people were just doomed to fail under circumstances not in their control. Give them a chance to blossom under your leadership, and have faith. You never know..
REMEMBER TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF TOO!!! Listen, I know you want to save the world from itself constantly…. But every once in a while.. you just gotta take a step back and take care of yourself.
There are so many more things I want to say but…I’ll leave it here. I really hope at least one of these things help you out. Congrats on your stripes and welcome to the NCO Corps. YOU ARE NOW THE BACKBONE OF THE MILITARY, YOU BADASS

Conversation
Acme Radio Transcript
Interviewer: Hello there and welcome into Acme Radio. Again, sorry to Rachael, we had to fade down her in the mix as she's on vacation but that's okay because we have a good reason. We have brought in an artist to perform live today, we've got Zealyn here in the studio. Hello Zealyn.
Zealyn: Hello! Thanks for having me.
Interviewer: Thank you for coming in.
Zealyn: Yeah, of course.
Interviewer: Big show tonight at the High Watt.
Zealyn: Yep. High Watt.
Interviewer: Gonna be good. Have you been over there?
Zealyn: No. The only venue I've played in Nashville was the East Room.
Interviewer: Okay.
Zealyn: Yeah. So it's the first time playing the High Watt umm... I've heard great things so I'm excited.
Interviewer: Yes, it's a nice room. There's really like, not a bad spot to see which is good. Most venues in town have a pole right in the middle somewhere.
Zealyn: Okay.
Interviewer: That one doesn't.
Zealyn: Great. Awesome.
Interviewer: Umm... But Zealyn's gonna be out there at the High Watt tonight with Andreas Moss and, I was curious about this, Savannah Sgro?
Zealyn: I think it's Sgro. That's how I always said it?
Interviewer: Yeah.
Zealyn: Yeah.
Interviewer: Okay. S-G-R-O so you can understand our confusion but I think that's it. Doors at 7, the show is at 8. You can get your tickets right now at mercylounge.com.
Zealyn: Yep.
Interviewer: Umm... You mind doing a song first so we can kinda get a little taste of what's gonna happen tonight?
Zealyn: I love to. Absolutely. Yeah, I'm going to sing the title track of the EP that I just released over a week ago- just over a week ago. Umm... yeah, it's called A Weekend in Maine.
Interviewer: Alright. Perfect.
*Zealyn sings A Weekend in Maine*
Interviewer: There you have it. That is Zealyn live here in the Acme Radio studio with a brand new song, the just dropped at uhh... like two weeks ago, a week in a half ago or something like that.
Zealyn: Yeah.
Interviewer: It's awesome.
Zealyn: Thank you.
Interviewer: Sounding great.
Zealyn: I appreciate that.
Interviewer: That is the title track, A Weekend in Maine. The EP dropped May 17th and you pretty much hit the road immediately.
Zealyn: Yeah. Yeah like 3 days later. Don't recommend it. It was pretty- it's a lot at once but it was- it's been fun.
Interviewer: And what is Maine is there something that, did you grew up there, did you have like- is there a far off place that you're like, "Oh.*something I couldn't understand*"
Zealyn: Yeah. I mean, I grew up in Boston. My family. So we always take trips to Maine. And it's just kind of umm... it's a place where a lot of memories were built, a lot of love, a lot of just... Growing up and whatnot and so, it's a really nostalgic place full of nothing but good memories that got me where I am today so... Yeah.
Interviewer: And now you're based in LA.
Zealyn: Based in LA.
Interviewer: Yeah, see I didn't know if it was just like looking at the opposite end of the country.
Zealyn: Right.
Interviewer: And you're like...
Zealyn: Wanting a peaceful life. To get away from the city I mean- It's some of that too as well. Yeah, the city can be uhh... I mean- you know, here in Nashville, it's always the hustle and bustle of music. Everyone- there's so much talent that like, "Go go go go!" So uhh... I feel like this EP is kind of like a longing to escape and just like feel free and calm for a second because it just can be crazy.
Interviewer: Yeah.
Zealyn: Yeah.
Interviewer: Absolutely. Again, Zealyn is here in town, Nashville, Tennessee, playing tonight. She's got a show at the High Watt with Andreas Mass and Savannah Sgro. It's gonna be a good show so I recommend grabbing your tickets now at mercylounge.com to celebrate her now- I guess, released in Nashville, and you've got quite a tour. Excuse me, quite a tour. You've got Atlanta coming up, the East Coast coming up in June.
Zealyn: Mhm.
Interviewer: And the West Coast back in August.
Zealyn: Yup.
Interviewer: Umm... Now, when you head out on these dates, is it something you take a whole crew with you? Do you have the whole band or do you kinda pick and choose as you go through the towns?
Zealyn: Umm... Yeah. It's kind of different each run. Umm... Some run, it's like a three-piece band and other runs, it's a four-piece and then obviously when we're home in LA, we do a whole five-piece band that I'm thankful enough to have friends that are like super talented and great people that can just play music with me. So yeah, just kinda depends on where. But tonight we'll be playing with a three-piece. A drummer, guitarist and I play keys and so umm... yeah.
Interviewer: Little more.
Zealyn: Keeping it- a little stripped- well not stripped, it will be so high energy and so fun. The drummer's amazing. But yeah, a small crew.
Interviewer: Yeah. It's gonna be good. I was listening to the EP the other day. There's some really really nice hype songs, really nice slower ones.
Zealyn: Thank you.
Interviewer: It's gonna be a good time. So again, that's at the High Watt tonight. Now, A Weekend in Maine obviously just dropped and you released it independently. Which is awesome.
Zealyn: I did.
Interviewer: Is that something you love or is that something you were just like necessary or how did you look at the independent aspect of your career?
Zealyn: I mean a little bit of both. It's not like I have labels coming to me like, "We wanna sign you right now!" I love being an independent artist right now for the time being. I think it's great. Have a small team of people that just really believe in the music and that goes a really long way. But uhh... yeah. I think for as long as I can, I'll stay independent and do it on my own. Hopefully, it gets too big one day that I'll have to bring on a bigger team. But uhh... yeah. I'm enjoying it. It's really rewarding. Put a lot of work into it.
Interviewer: Yeah.
Zealyn: A lot of hours. A lot of money. It's not easy. But it's really rewarding.
Interviewer: Yeah. Well, it seems to be working out. I mean, you've been uh... crushed in the socials and I see just constantly updating everything and you're working hard. It's great.
Zealyn: Trying. Thanks. Thank you.
Interviewer: Now, with the EP, did you do it all out in LA and who produced it like how did it all kinda come together?
Zealyn: Yeah. It was all written by me and different people. Every song I worked with different songwriters but it was - for the most part, all recorded by David Burris who is in the Arts District of Los Angeles.
Interviewer: Okay.
Zealyn: Incredible producer and like, just a great hang. It was so fun collaborating, just creating sounds and whatnot with him. So yeah, David Burris produce it all. Except for one song that was done by Aaron Marsh of Copeland. Umm so yeah.
Interviewer: And he produced your first EP?
Zealyn: He did. So yeah. The song that he did on this EP was actually supposed to release on the last EP. But I loved it so much, I wanted to like hang on to it and release it later. It's been three years and the song still holds up and I still love it so I put it on this EP. But yeah, he's also a genius songwriter and like, the layers he adds to songs are just- forget it, they're too good. Yeah.
Interviewer: No, that's cool. And there were some great little collaborations on that as well.
Zealyn: Yeah. First EP or? Yeah.
Interviewer: Yeah, for sure. Again, Zealyn is our guest. You could find her on the socials @zealyn or zealyn.co if you are looking up her website. Some nice merch there. You can listen to this new EP we're talking about, A Weekend in Maine. And you've gotten to spend a couple days in Nashville before your show tonight at the High Watt so, what have you gotten to do over Memorial Day Weekend? Anything you're just like, "Yes."
Zealyn: Okay. So I made a point on this trip to be a local and not be a tourist. So I ask a lot of friends where to go and hung out with any friends that I could hear and umm... few things. Favorite sandwich shop Mitchells.
Interviewer: Yeah. Good call.
Zealyn: So good! I don't know if that is like the local place or not. But it felt like it and it was so good. Also, went to Attaboy.
Interviewer: Attaboy.
Zealyn: *gasps* You don't know it?
Interviewer: I don't know.
Zealyn: Oh, I feel awesome right now.
Interviewer: Yeah.
Zealyn: I feel so cool. It's a speak-easy. You don't tell them what drink you want. They just say, "What do you like?" and you tell them all the things you like.
Interviewer: Okay.
Zealyn: And they create one for you and it's like always delicious.
Interviewer: Gotcha.
Zealyn: Umm... yeah. So I went there.
Interviewer: Sounds like a young person spot.
Zealyn: Okay. Come on!
Interviewer: I'm an old guy. *laughs*
