I made Kakashi Hatake from Naruto. I love Kakashi and he is actually my favorite character in Naruto. What you guys think about this design?

Two of my Marvel Super Heroes(FASERIP) characters with images & homemade trading cards

I had two main characters I played in the Marvel Super Heroes RPG in recent years. I used HeroMachine 3 a lot, for these and other RPG characters and monsters. Sadly it's not available any longer. (There's a way to run it on your PC but I can't get it to work correctly. I see they "fixed" 2.5 so I'm going to check that out after I finish this!)

To the point: I really liked these two characters, and I decided to make a sort of character sheet that was modeled on these old Marvel comic book trading cards we used to buy when we were kids. I'd like to share those, and the backgrounds of the characters. I hope you enjoy them, and feel free to make use of them in your own games if you wish.

The Frank trading card has a different, more friendly/cutesy/cartoonish image than the original I had put together. This is because Frank was an idea I had had several years prior for a game that didn't quite work out, and in the interim I had misplaced the image and had to create a new one! The "cards" were made in 2017. (I also, rather embarrassingly, reversed the shadows and highlights on Frank's pants in the original image - ack!)

The Doodle Bug image doesn't include the "doodle shell" because I just didn't have any way to create it. I'm no artist. I think Doodle Bug is my favorite character. The card has a blank "as a power stunt ___ times" so that I could use the card as a character sheet and track uses of power stunts.

For the record, the character was always intended to have art that could interact with things, but I didn't know it was only an option in Marvel - in DC Heroes, it's a part of the "animate image" power, which is at least partially where I originated the character concept. Even though the Judge would let you have whatever you wanted within reason, and if I had written it down at the beginning they'd have let me have it, and only didn't due to a misunderstanding, they refused it and I had to learn it as a power stunt. As far as I'm concerned, canonically, the character is as intended, with this other individual's game reflecting an alternate universe version. (I never dug the whole "superheroes as cops" thing anyway and it was the second Marvel game in a row I was in that pulled that stuff.)

Doodle Bug

Background: Lori R. Manley and William Scoggins went from teenage friends to down-on-their-luck petty crooks.

It was then that Scoggins(a security guard by trade) revealed what he had created - a suit he had modified based on schematics and parts he had copied and/or pilfered from a company he contracted for. The suit enabled him to fly, gave him radar sense, and three types of gas attacks: a knockout gas, a fog, and most fun of all for a thrill-seeker like Scoggins, a nauseating spray. With this suit, under the identity Stink Bug, they would be able to make a lot more money(and he would get some exciting new kicks).

Lori, both excited at the news and finding a perfect opportunity to reveal her own abilities, admitted that she had a mutant power - she could draw sketches at lightning speed that could come to life! Suggesting that her powers could also match her lovers' bug theme, they set about at once to build her a suit of her own. The result was the Doodle Shell. Made up of interlocking steel plates, they are worn on the back as a shell. As desired, the Doodle Shell will "curl," the plates shifting forward and forming a wheel-shape which protects the whole body and allows the wearer to roll("Hyper-Running") to safety. When not "curled," the wearer is protected by the shell from behind and has the ability to dig, thanks to a harness connected to the hands and attached to the shell.

Taking the name Doodle Bug, she and her partner Stink Bug carried on the lives of petty super villains, never killing anyone or displaying any real sociopathic tendencies. They were like loser versions of Alias Smith and Jones.

This lasted until a job where they were hired by the psychopathic scientist Dr. A. Namoli to combat their mutual arch-nemeses: Fluid, the Grey Hurricane and the Hyena. When the Bothersome Bugs realized Dr. Namoli was actually going to disperse their enemies' atoms into another dimension, they turned on their boss, saving the heroes and quickly escaping.

Deliberating on their careers and considering the newest turn of events, the two unanimously decided that criminals and villains were losers by nature and that being heroes seemed much more entertaining and profitable. Never really having their hearts in being truly "bad" to begin with, they began a new stage in life. The Belligerent Beetle and the Impetuous Insect were no longer petty, selfish supervillains with delusions of grandeur: they were now petty, selfish superheroes with delusions of grandeur. And the world is a slightly better place for it.

Frank

Background: A.I.M., researching the legends of Frankenstein, discovered that the stories were based on fact, and that the "monster" was created not from dead body parts but almost as something of a golem. Reproducing Frankenstein's experiments, they created a monstrosity to aid them in their goals. Unfortunately for them, this creature was not naturally inclined to evil and escaped. Discovering the truth of his past, the creature named itself Frank. Frank, despite being a "monster" and a "freak," is not only good-natured but also possessing a fine sense of humor and a positive outlook on existence, and enjoys defeating the forces of crime and evil while pondering his existence.

Much like the creature of lore, Frank is very tall, muscular and broad, with yellow, translucent skin through which veins, arteries and muscle can be seen, with pale, yellow, watery eyes. Though this differs from the popularized film version of the monster, Frank's powers also differ somewhat from what is expected, such as his ability to separate parts of his body which may act under his power.

Kamen Rider Chaleon Vortex

After months of laying around being depressed hard and strenuous work, I've finally finished another Chaleon form! This time, we'll be taking a look at Chaleon's aerial-combat-focused form, Chaleon Vortex!

As mentioned above, Chaleon Vortex specializes in aerial combat, especially at higher altitudes. Like Chaleon Kniron, Chaleon Vortex excels at defense, though falls short in offense and stealth.

His DP attacks are as follows:

10 DP: Hurricane Punch

Chaleon Vortex forms a swirling wind current around his fist and punches the enemy. Takes roughly 5-10 seconds to charge up before use.

25 DP: Crystal Storm

Chaleon Vortex creates a tornado made of Diamonds around the enemy, trapping them inside. The higher Chaleon's DP, the stronger this attack will be.

50 DP: Shining Helix Kick

Chaleon Vortex jumps high into the air and kicks the enemy with a Diamond-Power-charged drill kick.

Now, with that out of the way, we can talk about the nightmare that was this form. If you're familiar with Chaleon's other forms, you'll know designing them wasn't exactly the easiest. Even so, this is the first time I've had to scrap a design and start over completely.

Initially, I was completely stumped on what to theme this guy after. The Kid Chameleon form Vortex is based on is Cyclone, pictured here:

As you can see, he's got kind of a superhero thing going on, and for some reason, despite Heromachine 3 (the program I use to make all of these designs) literally being made for creating superheroes, I just couldn't figure out how to make it work, though for whatever reason I decided to give it a shot anyway.

This was the first design I came up with for Vortex. Maybe you think it looks good and I'm just overreacting. That's cool, that's your opinion and you're welcome to have it, no matter how wrong it is. But I just do not vibe with this design at all. The head's too complex, the body's too simple, the cape looks weird and out-of-place, especially compared to Chaleon's other forms. Literally the only parts I actually like are the purple lines on the body (that you can barely see), and the bright pink visor. That's it. With those two minor details, I've run out of nice things to say about this form.

And that's how it stayed for about a month. I'd lost the motivation to write a post after finishing the initial design, so it just kinda sat on my hard drive, collecting dust, and every now and then I'd stumble across it, having forgot I even made it, and I'd just be hit with this wave of utter disappointment and emptiness, before inevitably moving on and continuing with whatever I was doing at the moment. It wasn't until Monday of this week, after an existential crisis I won't get into the details of, that I posted that update and got the idea to make him a fighter pilot. I started the design either that night or the next morning, forgot about it, and did like 95% of it right before I started writing this post.

So... yeah. That's the heavily condensed (and probably somewhat inaccurate) retelling of the creation of Chaleon Vortex. Questions, comments, suggestions, etc. are welcome as always. Later!

Gloriana

Sasha Stevens was an impulsive teenager. Never one to think twice, often encouraged by her friends, she bounced constantly between adventures and mishaps. But going on a hike in the middle of a thunderstorm? That was a bit much, even for Sasha's friends. The school camp still had three days left, they said, and the rain would clear soon.

Undeterred, Sasha snuck out anyway. She found the storm glorious, the driving rain energising and the thunder empowering.

All was well, until she was stuck by lightning. But instead of being hurt, Sasha's body was covered in arcing electricity. Blinded by the arcs leaping from her body, she stumbled back to camp, terrified. On seeing Sasha, the teachers panicked, except one. This teacher called her father, the retired hero Red Shield. With his help, Sasha was able to calm down, and stop the lightning.

In the months following, Sasha’s powers continued to develop. Red Shield became her mentor, helping to stop her from accidentally summoning storms or taking out the neighbourhood’s power.

Red Shield discouraged her from becoming a superhero, but as usual Sasha refused to listen. A man with powers of persuasion called Kredit King was terrorising her community. To protect them, Sasha donned a costume and took the name Gloriana. She quickly busted up Kredit’s operation, driving him out of the city.

Flush with success, Gloriana continued on as a hero, under the watchful eye of Red Shield. She became a well-respected figure in the city.

two years later, when the Gabbot System invaded, Gloriana rushed to join the other heroes in the first assault against them. But protective as ever, Red Shield told her to stay back, and went instead.

The assault went terribly. A number of heroes were killed, and Red Shield was seriously injured. Gloriana, who had mostly listened to her mentor, swept in as the Gabbots advanced, summoning the largest storm she could to give the rest of the heroes time to retreat.

Impatiently, she watched as the Gabbot robots secured a beachhead and constructed their Core Mine, waiting for Red Shield to heal. With the morale of Earth's heroes at an all-time low, Gloriana continued on alone. She battled Gabbot patrols, and tried to encourage other heroes to step up. But most were unwilling, distrustful of her youthful energy.

However, a few were inspired by her. Elementress, fresh from retirement. Big Blue, returning from Space. Fantomah, defender of The Jungle. El Dorado, young, eager and untested. Pekapeka, the ghost. Together with herself and Red Shield, they formed The Protectors. A small group, perfect for infiltrating the Gabbot System stronghold.

The plan was a stealth attack: break the Core Mine drill and disrupt the robot's mainframe. But the team was too inexperienced to do it without notice. The stealth attack turned into an all-out battle, and for the first time in her life Sasha was fully focused. She directed the others from the air, using her lightning to clear a path. Combining their objectives, Gloriana and her team of heroes threw the Gabbot mainframe into the mine, destroying both. Without their central command, the robots became easy targets. The Protectors wasted no time in driving the Gabbot System off the Earth.

Gloriana is the driving force behind The Protectors. Enthusiastic and powerful, Gloriana inspires the team in their defence of Earth.

Introducing, Flamerisian! One of the powerful elemental species in Elementalis, the dimensional home of the elementals.

Flamerisians are noble elementalians in the homeland of fire who are the strongest warriors in the dimension.

Flameris is the fire element, an interdimensional sovereign where the Flamerisians live in the volcanic landscape, the hottest and most landscaped homeland which is the most popular in the dimension. They have abilities of melee and ranged attacks (with fireballs) to oppose their enemies.

These Flamerisians are known to be part of the nine warrior groups in Elementalian Naturalis, an interdimensional continent for all twelve elements that emerge from the worlds of the powerful elementals. They are with Froznoweses, Eartherrans and Airisians, created into a nature world.

They are very powerful for ranged attacks, while melee attacks take critical rates for touching the enemy's body and burning them alive. Their second ability is magmas, which allow them to perform the art of volcanoes (to use the ability of lavas). Strongest against Ice.

Appearance: The furious, burned orange and fire-skinned fire elemental male with flaming hair and red-coloured fire eyes, their body is full of fires filled with the heating like a lava of the volcano between upper and lower body (on their head, has biggest flaming ball attacks), who wears an infernal armour on chest (can be heating the pieces as powerful strength) and wearing a leather pants for his legs that can allowing to heat their arms. They are also barefoot.

The alignment of the elemental species is Paragon.

Rarity type for Flamerisian character is Rare.

For Bailey: ✨️How did you think her up?

Okay, so. It's the fall of 2015, Thanksgiving Break. I've started my first year at college, and I'm Going Through Some Shit. The transition from high school to college isn't easy, especially since I let Mom talk me into going to a local school, one I don't really want to be at. I opted for a Business major, too, because it felt like the Smart Thing To Do.

In short, I'm miserable and I feel like I'm not in control of a single thing in my life. All the pressure and stress of the holidays and family drama is only exacerbating the situation. Everything fuckin sucks.

And then Eric, my oldest brother, stumbles into a mention of a second season of Young Justice, a show we loved but never saw the end of. Even recording the first season, the timeslot got jerked around so much that we missed half of that. Neither of us had even heard there was a second season airing.

I am desperately in need of some nostalgia and some escapism, so we find it online (🏴‍☠️), hook up my laptop to his tv, and binge it all over the next couple of days.

And then... The s2 finale hits. And I watch Wally vaporize before my eyes. Wally West, my Flash. A character I relate to and look up to in ways I can't fully articulate. I chose my penname in his honor. Yes, this Wally is somewhat different from the Wally in the comics. But that's still Wally. That's still my boy. And he died.

It was, more or less, the straw that broke the camel's back.

Now, remember. It's the fall of 2015. There's not even rumors of a third season yet, not ones I've heard. As far as I'm aware, this show is dead in the water. There's only one way to fix this.

It's also, like, three in the morning and I haven't slept well in... A long while. I'm a little manic. A little closer to crazed than usual.

So, as I reach for my keyboard, I think to myself: "I'm writing a fix it. I'm gonna drag his skinny ginger ass back from the grave. It's comic books, there's no body, he's only soap-opera dead! I'll bring him back. And you know what? I'm gonna do it myself."

Two hours later I'd cracked out a rough-draft of Bailey's first costume on HeroMachine, spitballed half a plot and a few hero-names with Eric, and started working backwards from the rescue to figure out Bailey's origins.

Bailey started out as a self-insert, and in some ways she's still a tool for me to work some shit out. But post-reboot I've tried hard to let her be her own character, to acknowledge and write her having flaws, and to keep things objective. I don't know how good of a job I've done in that regard, but I try to remember that there's a little bit of the author in every character, because that's how they come to life.

Kamen Rider Chaleon Splax

Here they are! After months of blood, sweat, and tears, I’ve finally finished Chaleon’s new form, or more accurately, forms. Based on Kid Chameleon’s Maniaxe and, by proxy, Rick Taylor from the Splatterhouse games, it’s my pleasure to present Chaleon Splax, in both his Ghoul and Lich forms!

Now, explaining this form is gonna be a bit of a challenge, and not just because it’s actually two forms… although to be fair that isn’t making it much easier. No, the main problem is that I think this is single-handedly the Chaleon form with the most lore. Allow me to explain.

For some background, Chaleon’s powers come from Diamonds, floating gemstones that come in various colors, that are collected and turned into Diamond Power by his Driver. Diamond Power, in turn, powers Chaleon’s abilities, attacks, and in some cases, even his Forms themselves. In-universe, it’s not exactly known where Diamonds come from, at least at first. Eventually, though, they’re revealed to be Earth’s energy in a crystalline form. And because the Earth is a living being, Diamonds also carry a tiny bit of life within them… which they can sometimes transfer to other, non-living things.

Because Chaleon’s Driver comes into contact with so many Diamonds, and also processes them into pure energy, it slowly starts to become sentient, and by the time Chaleon’s current user (a concept I’ll touch on in its own post) starts using it, it’s able to think, reason, and most importantly, form opinions on its users.

Prior to the current user, all previous Chaleon users were all the typical, stoic, uncaring soldier-type, and would treat the Driver as little more than another piece of equipment that could be used and then forgotten without any real consequence.

Chaleon’s current user, on the other hand, treats the Driver and, more broadly, the Chaleon system/set of powers as more of an ally or partner, something that the rapidly-growing mind of the belt is unfamiliar with, but begins to appreciate and cherish, soon growing attached to its wearer. This attachment eventually comes to a head in an altercation with the main villain, where Chaleon is fatally wounded and left to succumb to his injuries in a swamp. As he sinks lifelessly into the murky water, his Driver uses all the Diamond Power it can muster to more or less hijack its user’s body temporarily and creates a new form, influenced by its wearer’s thoughts of his seemingly impending demise, rising out of the swamp as Chaleon Splax Ghoul form!

This form is easily Chaleon’s weakest, as its only intended use was getting Chaleon to someone who could help him in his condition. Because of this, it lacks any Diamond Power attacks, instead using any absorbed Diamonds to keep its wearer alive.

Later, after its user is fully healed, he’s able to access a stronger, more combat-focused version of Splax, this being Lich form.

In Lich form, Splax is predominantly controlled by its human operator, like all of Chaleon’s other forms. However, unlike other forms, Splax is also partially controlled by Chaleon’s Driver, allowing it to act on its own. Though it has the power to easily fight on its own, it mainly uses it to assist its user by dodging and countering enemy attacks that its user can’t or doesn’t see.

Unlike Ghoul form, Lich form is able to use the following Diamond Power attacks:

10 DP - Dusk Tomahawk, an axe-shaped projectile launched at the enemy. One use gives the user 10 Dusk Tomahawk projectiles, with each use granting an additional 10.

25 DP - Shade Chopper, a large broadaxe/battle axe able to be summoned by Splax for use in combat. When summoned, the axe is pulled out of the ground below, and can be wielded with either one or both hands. Two axes can be summoned at the same time, so long as Chaleon has at least 50 DP.

50 DP - Axecution Kick, a Rider Kick and Splax’s finisher. When activated, another Splax emerges from the ground, this one in Ghoul form and hereby referred to as such. The original, whom I’ll call Lich for simplicity’s sake, takes a few steps back, then runs at Ghoul, who intercepts and tosses Lich high into the air. Lich then plummets towards the opponent in a typical Rider Kick, surrounded by an aura of darkness. The second Splax disappears soon after.

Now then, on the topic of this form’s real life design, concept, creation… whatever you wanna call it. It was hell. Plain and simple.

For the longest time after finishing Chaleon Shatter, I struggled to come up with a form for Maniaxe that captured the essence of the original while also making it fit in with the other Chaleon forms. Believe it or not, I’ve actually already designed the next form I have in mind for Chaleon, since this one was so difficult to come up with ideas for.

In terms of design, he’s heavily influenced by Rick Taylor, the main character of the Splatterhouse series of games, right down to the “living inanimate object gives regular human superpowers”. Rick Taylor has his mask, Chaleon’s got his Driver. Unlike Rick Taylor, though, Chaleon’s Driver doesn’t drive its user into a violent berzerker rage whenever it’s worn.

The clothing theme this time is… hard to describe, honestly. I wanted to go with a sort of mechanic suit and trenchcoat hybrid, since Maniaxe wears a mechanic suit in-game, but as was a theme with the rest of his design, getting the suit right was a pain in the ass, so eventually I went with something inspired by The Undertaker from the WWE and Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat.

His first form is meant to look like a horror movie monster that’s laid dormant at the bottom of a lake for ages, hence the rust on his boots, gloves, chains, and other metal parts.

The Wolverine claws were a holdover from an early design, and I think they might have originated from one of Maniaxe’s instruction manual illustrations but I’m not 100% certain on that.

Also, one detail I’m rather fond of is the damaged battery on Ghoul form’s Driver. It’s supposed to look like the energy normally contained inside the batteries is leaking out after the glass/plastic was cracked somehow.

Last but not least, the name “Splax” is just a combination of “Splatter”, referring to the heavy Splatterhouse influence on both Maniaxe and this form, and “Axe”, since Maniaxe is best known for throwing axes.

Oh, and lastly for real: going off my minimal research, I think the closest thing to what Ghoul form is supposed to be is a zombie, but tbh there’s already enough zombies in Kamen Rider as-is, so Ghoul it is.

But yeah, that’s about it. Tell me what you think. Or don’t, I won’t force you. Might’ve said this already but the next form’s already done and screencapped, all I need to do is gather them and write up a bio and powers and then it’ll be done. I’ve got some other updates on the overall project, but I’ll make a separate post for that. This one’s already long enough.

- The CWC comparisons are out-dated now considering what has happened to THAT person.

- The forum thread in general only gets updated with posts that are from months or years ago or the person behind the post deleted the post or the DA admins deleted that post, so shouldn't the Drmusic2 thread just get deleted anyway?

- They harp on Nathan for doing a list of tropes he can't stand in roleplay scenarios and in general yet the only thing they can say is call it 'tl'dr drivel'? Honestly, I can't stand that meme to be honest.

- That Quora post was actually just from a month or year ago, yet you felt the need to bring it up? No offense but the Quora post was back when CombustingHerpes was a thing and was actually active, yeah that site is still up but nobody ever goes on it or visits it anymore, guess the members found something else to occupy their time like dank meme references only they find funny. Defunct? That site is still active, it just hasn't been updated since 2013 and obviously...yeah, I can see why.

- I am just going to explain it like this..Nathan stated HIS opinion on a fake review of Combustingherpes, Fake Serbian Douche attacks him for it and calls him a terrorist and claims that he is trying to bomb Serbian and accuses him of being a Balkan of all things, Nathan tries to ignore this guy, he shows up everywhere, the guy questions him for liking the Muppets (accusing him of doing nudes of them when it's just fanart made with Heromachine), and doesn't even know that Christopher freaking Walken's name is spelled WALKEN and NOT 'Walker', tricks Nathan into looking up a fake movie that doesn't exist, tricks him into going on Ask and asking about a fake movie, admits he wasn't even Serbian to begin with yet everyone believes him. - Actually he said that in-universe non-werecreature shapeshifter characters get offended at being called werecreatures, only because only a handful of those characters are actual werecreature ones, i'm one of them..technically i'm more of a werecelebrity character, the fictional versions of David Bowie and Chris Walken are vampire or vampire-like, Trumpty is a Trump-creature but isn't actually Donald Trump, yes...the Forgotten Werecreatures cast are all types of werecreatures, Dan is a Were-Aykroyd, my counterpart is a Were-Aykroyd, and Growler is a weregrinch. Mel and Eucalyptus are part of a whole different race (they are koala-girls), Soo is a Pandaren, Oats and Opal are both anthro horses (yes Prince Oats is who Oatsie the Ponyta is based on), Holly and Hoofer are both anthro Clydesdales, Mimi is a Minionette (a race of female anthro-ized versions of the Minions), etc.

Also I am pretty sure everyone knows the word grinch and all associated with it originated from Dr Seuss's novel and making the mean one green originated in the animated specials. Yeah saying a character that was based on another author's character is unoriginal is redundant, also you know the plot for the Grinch is totally almost the same as A Christmas Carol, right? Yet nobody way back when that book was made ever accused Theodore Geisel of ripping off Dickens. The Charles Dickens estate didn't protest about it, so neither should you.
