Description

The wedding between Nicholas II and Princess Alix of Hesse took place in the Imperial Chapel of the Winter Palace on 26 November 1894, just over twenty years after the marriage of the Tsar's aunt in the same chapel. The wedding was announced in April that year and was to take place on the Empress Marie Feodorovna's birthday. Tragically, Emperor Alexander III died of kidney disease on 1 November, and the court was thrown into mourning with the exception of the day of the marriage.

The royal couple stand, holding lighted candles, whilst the Metropolitan Archbishop of St Petersburg, Mgr Palladius, makes the sign of the cross before them. Ella, (Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna), writing to her grandmother, Queen Victoria, described her sister's dress as 'embroidered silver cloth Russian court dress & very pretty', helpfully including a sketch. She added that 'Alix being tall will look perfectly lovely'. She wears a kokoshnik tiara and a small diamond crown, beneath which is a wreath of orange blossom, her imperial gold-embroidered mantle is lined with ermine. The Tsar is dressed in the uniform of a Hussar. In the background George I, King of Greece stands to the left of Christian IX, King of Denmark, who looks towards his daughter, the Dowager Empress; the Princess of Wales, and the Queen of Greece. The Prince of Wales can be seen dressed in the uniform of Russian Dragoons to the right of the portrait.

Nemo in Atlantis and Merman Pierre drabble

Nemo believing Atlantis is just a myth, a story told to make mankind reflect on their hubris; but, then finds it. And not only finds it but finds it inhabited by another thing he thought was only a myth: merfolk.

As Nemo bserves the place from the distance he notices a very curious (and pretty) merman following him around at a distance. He's clearly not hostile so Nemo continues mentally making notes for his journal later.

Nemo has fallen into the familiar routine of oceanic research; but then, suddenly, the merman is right in front of him.

The man is holding the helmet, Nemo briefly panics that he might try and take it off but moving his head around - seemingly studying it. After a few seconds they make eye contact. The man's face lights up at seeing a person inside instantly he starts waving, swimming quickly around him three times before stopping and just smiling - Nemo wonders if this is a social behaviour of merfolk.

After that the curious merman keeps hovering around him, occasionally poking at the suit, until another one swims up, pulling the merman away. They seem to be communicating and the new merman clearly convinces the curious one (who swims around him one more time) to leave

Nemo spends most of the night noting everything he had seen; excited to return.

The next day the Captain returns; time he has brought three men with him, hoping to get a better understanding of the place by taking samples of the soil and fauna.

Soon the same curious merman is back. At first he appears taken aback by the larger party but then quickly beings flitting around them, looking in each of the suit windows, waving and swimming around them - though Nemo noticed he only swam around his men once but three times around him.

The other mermaid is also back. This time, however, instead of pulling the other away he is simply hovering nearby. He seemed to be guarding the other one and watching them with what Nemo interpreted as suspicion.

While collecting samples the friendly merman would disappear the reappear with shells and rocks, gifting them to Nemo and swimming around him again.

One of his indicates that they have collected all they could and that it's time to return to the Nautilus. Though it's past time to leave Nemo waits; he doesn't feel it would be fair to leave while the merman is off retrieving something.

Fortunately the merman returns quickly with another rock. Nemo indicates that his intention to leave, he feels unexpectedly guilty (but also a little amused) when the merman holds on to his arm and pouts - he almost seems to be trying to pull some sort of puppy eyes ploy to get him to stay.

Nemo feels torn but he has to leave. He has to look after his men. He is excited to begin investing the samples he has collected.

As he begins walking back the merman continues following him until the other stops him.

The behaviour of this strange creature is fascinating; Nemo is determined to see him again and find a way to communicate with him- wait- he means with the merfolk in general...and if that happens to include the curious merman well that's just a very welcome benefit.

(I promise I do still like him, he's a great character, it's just I get pretty peeved by how the majority of the fandom portrays their relationship a lot of peeps bashing Wukong and saying Mac did nothing wrong-

But to sum up:

In this fic we explore a scenario where Macaque finds a time alterating artifact after a huge spat on the mountain (that resulted in the clip above), uses that artifact to make it so he killed Tripitaka during JTTW. Then we see his pov in this universe where things have certainly changed drastically

...and not necessarily for the better.

People change. Friends or foes found dead or alive. Cities fall and some thrive.

But one thing I can assure you?

Neither of our mystic monkeys are having any fun until the end.

Yes this is a big reason why I've been absent for like a month

No I won't stop posting art. I'm taking a short break rn to get into the rhythm of drawing again

No there isn't a formal posting schedule, but I do have it in mind

No this isn't the big BIG project I've been working on for a few weeks

(Forgive me if I missed anything from s5, this was planned and written before that and I haven't watched it yet)

But enough about me!

I feel like Chang'e would definitely comfort a friend after some harsh words like what happens in the 1st chapter

Or at least she'd hear what Macaque did from Wukong and give massive side eye

(Especially since I figured she'd have a damn well knowledge of bad men *cough* *cough8 the reason Zhu Bajie got kicked out of heaven in the first place *cough* *cough*

I know they've rarely interacted in canon but hey, they've at least met on screen and we know Wukong can build a rocket to visit. Plus both being lonely immortals with cute animal subjects being theri only companions for centuries...

I have a feeling they'd get along somehow

They remind me of friends who exchange pics of their cute pet, only it's more like children for Wukong since they're literally his Sun family

And anyway the fandom pairs Mac and Chang'e just because they have a moon motif so let me have this goddamit.
