Another new child drop from my side: Hanariel Schilftanz... IF that is her real name????

They're a changeling and go by a ton of names and usually pick out a shape that fits the occasion and they are genderfluid. They are also an assassin and usually like to collect the shapes of those that they kill. But Hanariel is such a sweetheart! It's the shape that she is currently working with in the small campaign which we have just started playing. The other players already know that Hanariel is a changeling but they don't really know her story and relationship to her shapes and such just yet and I am excited to have them find out!

One of my D&D groups has a player who mentioned he may run an "oops all warlocks" game for us - he mentioned it just the one time and it's all the others needed to get excited. My husband kept asking me what I'd play and I had NO plans - because, well, it'd only been mentioned ONCE. But he asked again and I was like okay fine, I'll design ONE OF EACH PACT

Hello and welcome to “my friend made a new mini campaign so I get to make and obsess over a new dnd character”

Introducing Saffron, who is such a girlfailure her patron, Gladius, has to take over her body to get anything done.

The campaign takes place in Paltry, the last settlement in the material realm, located at the bottom of “the tower of gods”. As a last effort to save everyone in the material realm, the city council sent out a reward to any parents willing to offer their child to the ascension program, a program dedicated to training heroes to ascend the tower, as its speculated whoever gets to the top will be granted a wish

These are all mostly sketches and concepts to figure out her character so they’re not top quality

Alright, well, I put it out to vote and the hexblade redux won!

Narrower than I thought it would be, tbh. I assumed hexblade would win but I was surprised how many votes I got for the war domain -- maybe I'll share that, too.

Anyway!

I hate the hexblade. Maybe that's a bit unfair, and extreme, but I feel like WotC really dropped the ball with it. It's potential was great, but it was just... a really missed opportunity. What the hell is that Spectre? Other than the first level, the subclass feels dreadfully uninspired, and honestly, I feel like they could have gotten a lot more done if they detached the word 'blade' from it.

Thus, I present the Arcane Vestige Otherworldly Patron.

In my reimagining, you form a pact with a magical artefact of some kind. It's not necessarily going to be a weapon, or have any kind of blade. I've renamed heblade's curse but left it the same because it was the only part of the class that didn't feel out of place. If it was going to be a blade-only thing, I might have changed it up -- perhaps instead of casting it on an enemy, you cast it on your sword, and regain hit points equal to your Charisma modifier when you kill an enemy? Alas, that's for another day.

I also binned the Charisma-for-attack-and-damage-rolls thing. Oh noes!! Why would I do such a thing! Because everyone takes unnecessary dips into a whole new subclass to get it and that bugs me. It's just an invocation now. You either have to commit to warlock to get it, or just take the Eldritch Adept feat, instead of wasting everybody's time. Anyway, cheer up, you get another attunement slot.

I threw out the Spectre. It makes no sense whatsoever. It's one of my huge gripes, actually. Instead, you can invoke your pact boon, creating one of four Pact Simulacrum, with the stat block being at the bottom of the subclass. This was based on the Summon spells from Tasha's, which I really liked, and off of an early spell draft I had for my hexblade warlock when I was trying to make it interesting. The spell was okay, but this is better.

At 10th level I beefed up the simulacrum a bit - overall this ability still feels a little underwhelming, but I'm struggling to think what to give it that doesn't push it over the edge into OP territory. Maybe something like what find steed gets, where if you cast a spell that effects you - cure wounds, blur, invisibility - it also effects your Simulacrum?

14th ability is just to make you more durable and useful on the battlefield - you can summon your simulacrum twice, and being close to it gives you resistance to the most common 'fighter' damage types.

I also reworked Hex Warrior into an invocation, added an unarmed strike option for those that want to be a bit feral with their pact boon, and updated Thirsting Blade to work with both.

Maybe people will hate this. I'm not sure. It's fine if you do, not everyone will ahve the same opinions and that's okay! But if hexblade let you down by being devoid of flavour and direction let me know if this does anything for you!

A party member tried to teach him how to do pushups to become stronger (because of his low strenght) He's.... He's trying his best-

Can pull out blackholes/eldritch blasts from the sword

A very, very good damage dealer, magic heavy weapon damages

Loves to carve (crappy) stuff out of wood

Compares his greatsword to other otherworldy weapons, trying to find clues, of it's origin (also pretty much a history nerd)

He never, NEVER leaves the sword. Even during formal events. Even in the shower. He even sleeps chained to it. (For good reasons, but it's a spoilers for the other players)

Bought an experimental arcane hoverboard (carpet of flying reskin) so he can fight in melee in midair. He's fast. And he slashes

Rane Pallas; college-dropout, monster hunter, and cursed swordswoman

My baby finally has a ref sheet! It only took... 2 years to draw this! Rane is the first D&D5e character I made by myself and she holds a very special place in my heart. She is a hexblade warlock who made a deal with the creature known as Leshrun, an unknown entity within a rapier, which is the legendary sword of the Swords Coast. Rane was drawn to find Leshrun, although she does not know why.

Leshrun cursed Rane as part of their deal, trying to slowly corrupt her and take her body for reasons she does not know. And after adventuring with Leshrun for many years, Rane furthered her deal, swearing to become his paladin as well. Rane's curse does not spread with time, but with her actions. When her actions align with Leshrun's twisted desires, which often involve crime, deception, and greed, the mark with grow. As her curse grows, it effects Rane's psyche as well, aligning her thoughts closer to that of Leshrun's. Leshrun actively talks to her in her head, so her thoughts are almost never her own. The two have an odd almost sibling-like relationship.

Rane is proud, vain, charismatic, and compassionate. She lives to protect the innocent and to vanquish evil. Despite this, she is also naive to a fault, a bit unlucky, and tends to get stuck in sticky situations.

I have more information of her on her toyhouse but it is currently being re-vamped so not all the information on it is accurate.

upgraded a character I made a long time ago for a lv 14 one shot. This is Black Jack (or Jack for short), they were super fun to play! I hope to get them in a campaign someday because their lore is kinda wacky.
