I came here asking a very vague question about a HoH character who was a criminal. I apologized once before but I don’t feel like it was good, I made it about an hour or two after I sent my ask, so it was rushed. My original ask was 1. Not asked on the right type of blog, I’m now aware of this. 2. phrased horribly to the point it feels insensitive(ignorant?), all of which is completely on me, at the same time, I don’t actually know how it comes across. I know you probably get a lot of ignorant, rude, and inconsiderate asks, I just want to say I’m sorry for any amount of contribution to that list, for any frustration it caused you.

you good, sport. It takes me a while sometimes to get around asks. Your question wasn't phrased terribly at all.

At the moment, I don't get *that* many questions, since I stopped being so active. And even at our highest activity points, only few questions were truly offensive.

I hope you don't mind me answering this publicly, but truly, most hearing people feel lot of anxiety about asking us... well, anything. That's why we created this blog in the first place.

And even if a question is offensive (which yours wasn't, just talking in general), it is rarely meant that way. I only get truly annoyed and/or offended when someone is callous on purpose, not when someone accidentally uses a wrong term or has incorrect assumption.

With writing, we do answer questions with specific scenarios or character concepts I can give simple answers to. Like "can I write deaf musician?" sure, go ahead. What I do not answer is "how do I write a deaf person also pls list all the common stereotypes to avoid" because a) I don't have that kind of time and b) I am not doing research for the author, that's author's job.

You are not the first person to send me apology after your question and really, guys, its good! That's what the blog is for! And the people who apologize are almost always those who don't really need to. (and you don't have to apologize for sending me apology either ;) )

Hey there! Just to clarify, it's not my server lol I'm just the mod. The admin is sagemoderocklee.

But anyway, I totally understand the anxiety. No, you don't have to share your other social media unless you want to, and you can chat as much or as little as you like. You can share whatever amount of info you're comfortable with. We're a pretty pseudonymous culture and most people go by their usernames/nicknames, only talk in generalities about their school/job, and don't post pictures of themselves. On the other hand some people choose to be more open and that's fine, too. There's no judgment either way.

People occasionally send voice memos but its just for jokes and pretty rare. I've never sent one (or listened to one lol, I'm HoH). We sometimes do movie nights or play Jackbox or Gartic Phone but no one really uses the audio function, we all just use chat, and of course theyre not mandatory, just drop in if you can/want to. Since the servers inception I've NEVER seen anyone use the video function (except once on accident ... luckily I keep tape over my camera /facepalm)

The admin does do very rare (as in once in the past 6/7 years) activity checks but it's just an @ everyone ping and then you emoji react if you want to hang around.

Hey, my flare up hasn’t gone down, and we currently only have three active mods, so this is my plea to the Hermitcraft fandom:

Caption your images and art. Please. It’s not hard to do, and it only takes an extra minute or so. There are so many resources out there, and it makes the fandom such a better place. If you have any questions about image descriptions, you can ask me, or even make yourself familiar with the screen reader function on your phone! Let’s also make an effort to say if something has alt text in the OP.

I know I can’t expect every person in the fandom to do this, but there are people that follow this blog that I know have a huge amount of followers in the HC fandom. Please spread this and make an effort to caption or tag us, or even message me or other mods going forward. Make an effort to look in the notes of posts to see if a caption has already been made, and reblog from there. And if you have the time, apply to be a mod here.

Hello, all! As you can see, we are back for the 2019 Leverage Bang. This time, we’ll be doing a reverse bang, where artists provide art and authors provide fics for said art!

How do I sign up?

The link to the sign-up form will be made available on 5 May, 2019. Authors and artists alike will fill out the same form and just choose the option they want to participate as ー you can also choose to be both if you’d like!

Dates and Deadlines:

5 May - Sign-ups open 12 May - Sign-ups close 15 June - First Check-in (artists only) 29 June - Drafts/Summaries due (artists only) 19 July - Art due 21 July - Claims open 25 July - Claims close 28 September - Second check-in (authors only) 25-26 October - Final drafts/summaries due (authors only) 17-23 November - Posting

Basic Rules:

1. Check-ins are mandatory. If you miss a check-in, you have 48 hours to email the mods, or you will be disqualified.

2. Works cannot be posted before the official posting date. This means they must be new (previously unpublished) works and that they cannot be released early.

3. Any (or no) pairing is acceptable so long as the main focus of the story revolves around canon Leverage characters ー even if the characters aren’t the main 5!

4. Any rating is acceptable as long as you tag appropriately.

5. All appropriate warnings and tags must be used for art and fic summary/draft submissions and the final post.

It is up to you to decide how much you can handle. We only ask that you seriously consider what you are committing to and try not to overload yourself.

Keep in mind that some crossovers and AUs may limit the people interested in your work when it comes time for claims.

Check-ins:

Check-ins are mandatory and will be done via email. The mods will send out an email reminder the morning of the scheduled check-in and will follow up within 48 hours if the check-in has not been received. The purpose of check-ins is to ensure that all writers and artists are on track. You do not need to actually show us anything, just give us a little update on how you’re doing, if you have any questions or concerns, or anything else you may want/need to share with the mods ー do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Claims:

Titles, summaries, descriptions, and warnings will be posted through Google Drive. The art will be numbered on Slides to retain anonymity (and to prevent any favouritism leaking through), and authors should choose 5 pieces from the list that they would be okay with writing fic for (with 1 being the first-choice, obviously). Claims will be first come, first serve, and, if by chance none of your picks is available by the time you submit your claims, you will receive an email asking you to find another selection from the works still available. I will try to keep the claims Slides updated as much as possible, but it is only one person this go ‘round, so things might run a little slow. Once claims have closed, you will be put in contact with your new partner, and collaboration will begin!

Betas and Pinch hitters:

If you are interested in offering your services as either a beta or a pitch hitter, please fill out a sign-up form, marking the Other section and inputting whether you want to be a beta and/or pinch hitter! You don’t have to participate in the bang if you only want to be a beta.

Ren Headcanons wth a Deaf S/O.

-Ren is many things, one of those is expressive. You can read his feelings from his face like a book and he relishes that the two of you can have entire secret conversation entirely non-verbally thanks to this.

- Can you read lips? He always makes sure you’re able to see his clearly, moving microphones just so and angling himself just right regardless of the situation. Interview, TV Appearance, casual hangout.

- Can you not read lips? Good job the moment he realised he was catching feelings for you he swallowed his pride and asked Masato to help him learn to sign. He’s not a terribly fast signer, but he’s understandable and despite the effort he’s making he treats it as a non-issue. After all, why shouldn’t he learn?

- Absolutely one of the first things he learns to sign is something about how he was always good with his hands (wink wink). You smack his arm playfully and watch him laugh.

- Your hands though….you move so fluidly through your speech that he tends to get mesmerised. The expressions you make along with the signing often makes him feel like he’s being drawn completely into the world of whatever story you’re regaling him with. Be prepared to repeat yourself a few times! He doesn’t want you to go slower though, he wants to be able to understand you at your pace.

- Speak? With or without impediment he can pick your voice out of any murmuring hubbub. It literally doesn’t matter. You genuinely wonder if he has super hearing a few times, but it’s just that he’s so attuned to you and always on the hunt for your voice.

- His sign name for you is absolutely Prince/ss, other hand over his heart.

- And he absolutely drops that in to any given appearance. No-one knows….except the two of you. You blush every fucking time becauses jesus fucking christ, Ren.

- He hums for you. Grasps your hands, kisses your fingers and sets your fingers on his throat, thumb rubbing circles on the back of your hand, foreheads touching. He also pulls this move when he wants to murmur affectionate nonsense, Darling and My Love rumbling under your fingertips.

- I’m torn between your sign name for him being Rose or Handsome (or both, mixed lmao), but your other hand over your heart while you sign it.

- I Love You signs pressed together when you greet one another, hello I die. (this one’s more specifically ASL since BSL’s involves both hands but a lot of BSL users in my experience know the ASL one too so I feel I can put it here ajskhdsajk)
