no the fact we don't actually see Cecily and Gabriel grieve their son. the fact the only times they're mentioned after kit dies is like, Gabriel being in the final battle (I think) and then them smiling at the little get together at the end. not a single acknowledgement that their son just fucking died. Same with Henry since we know he was really close to Kit too.

like yeah of course tom thinks shiv is a scorpion because he doesn't know she compromised her position and sacrificed her brother so he wouldn't go to prison. he doesn't know she refused to divulge any information about cruises to gil in season 1 before she was certain tom would walk away unscathed. he doesn't know she shut down her brothers' offer to fire him, doesn't know she ensured he'd have a place in the company post-acquisition, doesn't know that the first time she indelicately interrogated matsson about whether she'd have any power and influence at waystar gojo was literally immediately after matsson brought up the idea of firing tom. and it's her fault he doesn't know that she's protected him at nearly every turn because she won't tell him. and it's looking more likely with every passing episode that he'll never know 😔🔫

HA HA YEP, Lilia's. questionable parenting has come up a few times and it's always, like, he read Baby Instructions 101 and went "ooh, I like red, I'll do those ones :)". he has Dad Instincts, but unfortunately they are Stereotypical '90s Sitcom Dad Instincts.

it was, however, worth it to see Sebek (watching Lilia gleefully dunking a bat into a coffee cup) just slowly turn to Silver and go "how the fuck are you alive".

blink and you'll miss it scene of shiv revealing someone's closeted (but obviously not that successfully so) homosexuality to tom, followed directly by greg telling tom of homophobia he just experienced

to the first thing: tom's clear shock that doesn't involve asking further questions or saying anything, even, contrast to roman who repeats and laughs about it. tom looks like he may either be trying to distance himself from that kind of talk, even as it relates to his and shiv's base dynamic of "judging people together," and/or to be looking out determinedly for ron in the crowd. consider he just learned that a very rich and politically influential man on par with logan had an affair with a guy and even took the submissive role. and that that man is still rich and powerful.

to the second thing: i left it out of the clip but tom responds without hesitation, sounding almost relieved (but maybe that's subjective), with the famous "this is a safe space where you don't have to pretend to like hamilton" line. more or less giving greg advice on how to act and how to posture in a place like this. this is how you don't get called a soyboy, greg. aka this is how you avoid being clocked, greg.

it's notable then that tom and greg proceed to spend the rest of the episode attached at the hip, and to an abnormal enough degree, even, that roman overtly reacts. that very night tom does the most Affair thing he's done yet with greg and sneaks out of bed to go get dinner with him. and of course all of this is bc now greg also fears prison - particularly, just like tom, fixated on the notion of facing (nonconsensual) gay sex there. and tom changes the subject when greg brings it up. and he chooses to let greg stay up while he goes down.

greg also no longer needs the advice about prison but he follows the other advice. and to contrast his self-sacrifical satisfaction over protecting him from the dangers of prison, tom confronts him about this other success almost like it's a personal betrayal.

and i think that's truly how tom sees it and how we're meant to believe tom sees it, too. tom recognizes greg as like him, and he may have just been given major fuel to move past some of his internalized homophobia (or at least past the notion of it being impossible to be successful while pursuing what he wants), but he also doesn't want greg to be any more successful in the closet than he is.

'extreme risk' is maybe. the most heartbreaking voyager ep yet? it wasn't perfect, tom and chakotay could be construed as acting ooc. but janeway's quiet conversation with b'elanna in the medbay, being so gentle with her while still remaining firm. b'elanna describing the numbness she's experiencing then laughing off a diagnosis of clinical depression. her relying so much on physical violence as a way to see the truth of the world, and this fact being so integral to her as a person that even the man she trusts most on that ship had to use it to help her. the palpable distance between her and tom, the way they're in this relationship like they're in voyager. clinging together out of necessity and trauma. this whole thing being a reminder that there is significant loss waiting for this crew even if they make it back. despite them making it back.

i just think that if dumbledore had treated tom like a child who was traumatised bcs he grew up in a war-impoverished orphanage hence needed guidance emotionally, and not like the embodiment of evil /the anti-christ none of this shit wouldve happened actually.

and it is with a solemn heart that I say this.... Coriolanus Snow is one fineeeee man. THG really do love their blonde men. I too, love their blonde men, and Corio is not an exception to that. I CAN FIX HIM (no I can't )

Anyways. Imagine a world where he has a girl he's been vying for a long time now however she's in a different tax bracket than him. AKA filthy rich, and she does like him, it's just poor father dearest does not approve :(

But she likes him so much, and he her, that he literally will not give up on her and promised her, in front of daddy dearest, that he'd come back with the plinth prize and a ring. And she waits for him eagerly, helping him as much as she can.

But then he cheats. The games and on her, even though technically they weren't labelled anything (except he literally said get ready, I'm coming back with a ring), and she's devastated. When he leaves for the districts, he goes to say goodbye to her and is met with a locked front door and a smug looking father. He sees her in the window of her room, looking at him as he leaves, contempt and disgust apparent on her face, and they don't see or hear from each other until half a year after he came back to the capital. Him on one knee, asking for her hand in marriage as her father looks on with satisfaction, a stark contrast to the way he regarded Coriolanus in the past. It's at this moment she realizes her position as a pretty bird about to be captured and put in a gilded cage. Except unlike Lucy Gray, her wings were clipped and she had long forgotten what it felt to fly.

TLDR: Corio to CoriolANUS cuz he a booty hole in this one.
