it seems I was completely correct in my hypothesis that Kate Tempest has moved gently along the hip-hop -> performance poetry spectrum over time. I’ve listened to her three albums in reverse order and it’s suited me perfectly because poetry is what I’m more comfortable with, and it’s eased me into the hiphop perfectly

what I’m trying to say is that I’m still loving my first listen to her first album right now even though it’s far more - hiphopish? I’m not even 100% sure what hiphop is, but I think you can certainly say these are rap songs, not poems. so she’s lucky that Gorillaz already started acclimatising me to rapping which I used to hate hahaha

edit: wait I just realised, this is the STUDIO version I’m listening to and it doesn’t sound dead and lifeless! holy shit! I mean it’ll be partly because I haven’t heard a live version of the album yet, but - (I almost exclusively listen to live versions of the other two albums bc ugh the recorded versions just suck in comparison)

For a few years I’ve been dressing very K-Hiphopish. Monsta X’s vibe is totaly what I’m going for most days. Black, or red, haha. I love key accessories like thigh belts or canvas belts, berets... Stuff that makes me get stared at a lot in Montreal’s street but also kind of ahead of mainstream trends. Before K-Pop I never thought about fashion.

I still don’t really know. I know what I don’t want. I’d love to do something that allows me to write on the side, keep time to myself and my hobbies.

It’s not a priority at all. I’ve been deeply considering living in celibacy for the rest of my life for this past year... I can have all I want (including children) alone, but if the right man comes along, then I’ll see.

Yes, adopting or naturally. I would love to.

I’ve been to the States a few times, visited a lot of France’s cities and went on a backpack trip in Costa Rica with my parents and brother when I was about 9. 

Scariest nightmare you ever had?

I have the same one weirdly often. I’m stuck in a house on a island and a stranger’s trying to get to me. I always end up trying to swim to the coast but I can’t manage to swim and I’m too heavy to run away. There’s a lot of variables; sometimes my friends are there, sometimes it’s a manor and it’s burning, etc. But that man is always there, very close, trying to kill me.

Any enemies?

No. I do have a stalker tho. At least I used to, but I guess the fear of being obsessed over and hunted never goes away. Lol. He came to my work recently after 10 years or so, and I completely panicked. He acted cured normal, but I still felt trapped. My own instinctive reaction surprised me a lot. He’s in the Canadian Army Forces now, something I don’t feel quite reassured about. He might kill me one day.    Ha   Ha

okay I’m HERE and I have OPINIONs on wave and illusion!!! I really enjoy how both have a lighter summery feel while still maintaining the complex instrumental style I associate with ateez and the percussion in wave is?? so good!! the way illusion's verse is all light and playful and the chorus maintains that but with a deeper instrumental is really nice and I’m excited to hear the whole song!!! also the deep rapper boy (mingi???) doing the chorus in wave is really cute help— intellectual anon

the instrumental style with percussion (which is actually really prominent in both) hits so good with both of these songs. They both have such good flow, lyric wise as well as instrumentally, and they have such a summer feel??? like all of those things together is so hard to do but it works so well for the songs???? I do think Wave is a more upbeat sounding song while Illusion is a little more hiphopish if that makes sense?? Like wave feels like the song you’d play at like an outside summer party on the beach and illusion is that thing you play at a hype house party ya know? But overall they have the carefree upbeat vibe

 Also yes his name is Mingi and he KILLS me, his deep voice fits extremely well for both of these songs and im pretty sure he has the start of both chorus for the songs ?? (im rewatching and listening while i type this lol) he also sounds like bad bunny in wave which makes me laugh

My favourite kind of kpop songs are the slow, hiphop kind of ballads, if that makes sense? But rockish songs is definitely a very very close second, and TXT just does it so freaking well!! I hope they keep it going in the future 🥺

ok so WHAT IF i told you that i actually had a feeling that beomgyu was gonna be ur 2nd fave and that's why i asked LMFAO and that's because same!! he's my 2nd fave too! for a while he and soobin were really close together but mAN do i love beomgyu's personality. he's just SO FUN. so funny!!! love all of them though, although i do have a most loved member i definitely do not have a least loved one!

I remember when I used to do my songset over other peoples beats I would always like the trap beats because of the speed . To me hip hop goes way faster than 90. I think a lot of people just go by the standard making hip hop beats slow when they could be fast. Maybe not though, I’m not the one that decides, but I know I like to rhyme my hiphopish songs at 140 to 160 bpm
