How Behind-the Scenes Issues Affected the Writing of Doctor Who (Both Good and Bad)
Doctor Who is such a fascinating show to look at from a Watsonian v. Doylist perspective. Like, entirely just from an episode writing point of view:
Twice Upon A Time feels so slow and meandering and even boring in places because Chris Chibnall didn't want to start his run as showrunner and Steven Moffat didn't want the show to lose the coveted Christmas timeslot (ironic, I know) so he bumped the Twelfth Doctor's regeneration from the end of The Doctor Falls (where it makes sense) to the end of the Christmas special
Boom Town (my beloved) only exists because originally there was going to be an episode in its spot explaining that Rose had been molded to be the Doctor's perfect companion (by the Doctor, gross) and the writer didn't have the time to commit to the show
The ending of Last Christmas feels like one inside-a-dream too many because originally Jenna Coleman was questioning whether she was going to leave the show or not and the ending was rewritten after the first readthrough when she decided she wanted to stay for another season
The first five episodes of Season 7 feel like each one takes place in a different genre because that's literally how Steven Moffat pitched it to the writers; for example, A Town Called Mercy was literally pitched as "Doctor Who does a Western"
Not so much a weird one but one I find cool: Eleven's first words and Thirteen's first words were literally written by Moffat and Chibnall respectively, as they were brought in to write the first words of the first Doctors of their runs so as to make it cohesive
The reason why Fourteen isn't wearing Thirteen's clothes when he regenerates is because Jodie Whittaker is much shorter than David Tennant and Russell T. Davies didn't want it to look like he was making fun of the genderfluidity of the Doctor (still think he made the wrong decision, but eh)
Wilfred Mott isn't in the Runaway Bride and Donna's father isn't in Partners in Crime because the actor who played Donna's father, Howard Attfield, died after filming several scenes for Partners In Crime, leading to the character of "Stan Mott" from Voyage of the Damned being written into Partners In Crime as Donna's grandfather
Astrid Peth doesn't die in the original drafts of Voyage of the Damned, but Russell T. Davies wrote what is generally considered one of the most emotional deaths in Doctor Who just because he wanted Kylie Minogue to be able to focus on her music career
Originally Oxygen was written as a prequel to Mummy on the Orient Express, where a corporate representative appeared on a monitor. Said representative was fired for his fumbling of the station and would later live on as the company computer, Gus
During Season 11, Chris Chibnall had to do some major rewrites for many of the one-off episodes, therefore The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos ended up being a first draft that made it to screen. He later admitted it was his least favorite episode of the series
And this is only a fraction of what I found in terms of major behind-the-scenes writing reasons. Though I am still totally willing to critique the product that made it to our screens, finding out the reasons behind some of the more badly written episodes of the show really made me feel sympathy for every showrunner of the show as well as appreciate a lot of the good episodes that ended up here despite the short production schedule/unexpected problems (once again, Boom Town my beloved AND everyone's favorite companion Wilfred Mott only exist because of unforseen problems). Absolutely bonkers, isn't it?

hi mottsy i have a serious (kinda) question? i was trying to figure out which of my favorite ff writers to ask and i feel like u would give me a genuine answer without taking offense.
do u ever feel like… idk… like shameful or anything about how much you love an actress or character? like sometimes i get these bouts of like intense guilt and shame for how much i genuinely enjoy elizabeth olsen content and just seeing her in general is like a huge dopamine boost. do u think it’s normal for me to randomly feel anxious about whether or not im a bad person because i spend so much time indulging in fan fiction (SFW and NSFW) and watching her interviews and just like imagining spending time with her or her characters? do u ever feel that way? am i having a crisis???
anyway feel free to ignore this ask, i already feel marginally better just admitting this, but idk i feel like it would help having an outside perspective. some days i don’t care, some days i feel like a stalker and a creep and a weirdo.
Hi nonnie, sorry this took me a day to get to, but hopefully my response can still be helpful!
Firstly, I’ll just get it out of the way and say I don’t think you’re a stalker or a creep or a weirdo (unless you are in fact stalking Lizzie, but I’m assuming you’re not just based off the tone of this ask haha). In general I feel like there’s a big push to categorize loves and interests that don’t make money or aren’t “cool” as something that should be fixed or stopped and I think that is… very harmful to having a balanced existence
If you’re not hurting anyone or breaking any boundaries, and are still maintaining a healthy sense of self outside of fantasy (i.e. feeding yourself, paying your bills, being safe at home) and reading fanfiction or watching interviews of someone brings you joy, more power to you. Think about how much time (and money) people put on sports, no one’s telling those people to stop making their fantasy lineups every year; they throw parties WEEKLY and scream at their televisions or in stadiums and I’m sure they have just as much -if not more- passion about their sport or favorite player as you have for your favorite characters.
Finding joy in someone’s work can be an absolutely magical experience tbh; Wanda, Natasha, and literally so many other fictional characters from comics and books were child!Motts’ friends when I didn’t have any and so I’ll Always feel soooo much dopamine whenever I read a favorite piece of media or watch the MCU versions of comic characters on screen because they’re special to me and there’s nothing wrong with that!
I obviously don’t know Lizzie personally, but I’m sure as an actress she appreciates the love and support people show for her projects; who doesn’t want to know that they have fans who feel touched by their hard work, you know?
Again, there’s a ton of nuances to this conversation and such, but tldr- please don’t be ashamed of where you find happiness in this sometimes very cruel, bleak world.
As long as you’re not infringing on anyone’s private life and you can still separate fantasy from reality, go off, tinie fruitcake. Read that fanfic, watch that Lizzie content 💖

Writblr Interview
Thanks for the tag @willtheweaver
Short stories, novels or poems?
I’m definitely a novel guy, both for reading and writing.
What genre do you prefer reading?
Definitely fantasy and mythology. But I often cross into sci fi and dystopians
What genre do you prefer writing?
I am honestly not sure how to answer this, given that I’ve done almost nothing but work on one project for over a decade
Are you a planner or a write as I go kind of person?
I start out with an outline but when I get down to the scenes I like to wait and see what happens then adjust my plans accordingly
What music do you listen to while writing?
I have playlists for some characters but on the whole I pretty much just have one playlist with all of my music on it that I hit shuffle on every time.
Favorite books/movies?
Oh cmon we’ll be here all day. I grew up on pretty much everything made by Jim Henson or Mel Brooks and I listen to audiobooks 40 hours a week at my factory job. I burn through a lot of material XD8 to summarize my favorite movie is The Princess Bride, and my favorite book is The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen
Any current WIPs?
For the most part just Project Gemini.
Fandomverse is an rp chain, and I mostly do art for this not so much writing snippets
Elemental High is an idea I’ve been toying with. it’s basically Project Gemini, if it were a Disney Channel series. I think it’d be super interesting to see how I as a writer could tell the same story through a completely different lense/ how would the story change if I changed its intended audience?
If someone were to make a cartoon out of you what would your standard outfit be?
Lucky for all of you, I did make a cartoon me. The color would change based on what color my hair is
Tumblr media
Create a character description of yourself:
If I thought anybody in an orthodontics factory was about to be isekaied or find a weird portal into another dimension it was this guy. He was at least 20 years younger than everyone else in the building and, in a lot of cases, twice that. But despite being super easy to spot in a crowd, he never really says much without prompting. Still, as loud as he is in a visual sense, he never seems entirely here. Like the voices in his head are more interesting than anything going on around him. Dude fucking lights up if you mention pizza though.
Do you like incorporating actual people you know into your writing?
Not consciously no. People will say Quinn is based off my enby stoner best friend but from my point of view, I don’t know many enby stoners who aren’t like Quinn. But as a whole I like to let the characters tell me who they are. Any resemblance to someone real or imagined is purely coincidental.
Are you kill happy with your characters?
Rachelle, my partner for Project Gemini, would say yes. I have elected not to comment
Coffee or Tea while writing?
Hate to be the odd one out here but an ice cold Dr. Pepper is what I go for
Slow or fast writer?
If I can get a glove going I can write badly pretty fast. But overall, I’m 13 years into the only real project I’ve ever had and I’m still not done with book 1
Where/who/what do you draw inspiration from?
It helps for me to keep consuming new stories but honestly, the best inspiration comes from the interactions about my work from all of you out there. Unmatched. (Shoutout to @honeybewrites @the-golden-comet and @the-letterbox-archives for giving me so much)
If you were in a fantasy world, what would you be?
Probably a librarian of some kind, just like I’m trying to do in real life. But I’m way to exhausted and disabled for that adventuring crap XD8
Most fav book cliche:
Oh I don’t know how to describe it. When the protagonist is a young boy without a father and they find a father figure/mentor/bodyguard. I eat that shit up and I don’t see it very often. [examples would be Sage and Mott from the Ascendance Trilogy/series by Jennifer A Nielsen and Matt and Tam Lin in The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer
Least favorite cliche:
I really hate it when a main character (regardless of gender) is passive. It’s just so not fun to read about someone who never takes action in their situations.
Fav scene to write?
Almost any of Cas and Adrian’s interactions. I adore their dynamics
Reason for writing?
Because I’ve got shit inside my head and it’s not doing any good in there so I might as well get it out here.

Hi Mike! I first wanted to say how much I am a huge fan of your work! I absolutely love how grounded your characters are and because of that the stories themselves allow for us the audience to be able to process our own trauma through them! I know there have been many things I’ve been able to explain better to people by using your work as an example!
I also loved learning that you are a Doctor Who fan! Heads up, Tumblr is home to a fantastic Whovian fan base! I was wondering if you got the chance to be a guest writer on the series what type of story would you go for? Space travels? Time travels? Also, who’s your favorite companions?
Just curious from one Whovian to another! And as a person who also works in film, I hope I can have the privilege of working under your direction some day! Thank you for continuing to remind me why it’s important to continue to story tell!
Oh jeez - where to begin. I adore DOCTOR WHO. It would be a dream to work on it in any capacity. I go back and forth about what kind of episode I'd want to write, though I'd want it to be scary. Time travels for sure. Maybe something about the lost colony of Roanoke, or something else good and creepy. Favorite companions is tough. I'll always have a special affection for Amy Pond (that was why I wanted to cast Karen in OCULUS), and for Clara. I really loved Bill also. And Donna. And Rose. I have a particular soft spot for Wilfred Mott, and I think those final Tennant episodes are sublime. I used to say no one would ever top Tennant for me, and then Matt Smith came along and by the end I said no one would ever be able to replace him. I was resistant to Capaldi at first but I think, having watched his seasons twice now, that he may actually be my favorite doctor. His storyline is all about mortality and acceptance and I was shocked by how beautiful it is, how sad, and how hopeful. The longer I think about it, the more I think HEAVEN SENT might be the best episode of DOCTOR WHO and maybe one of the best episodes of television, period. They're all wonderful though. What a vital and special series it is. I wish I could go on that journey one day, even just for one episode.

I will not write rape, 18+ content for underage characters, or anything where the character is another species. I will not take requests containing pedophilia, ablism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, or any other form of bigotry. Comfort imagines for things such as depression, eating disorders, and anxiety are fine as long as you do not want them to be very descriptive and/or explicit. Please make formal requests through my ask as I will not take comments as formal requests. I write for multiple genders but only smut for afab people as that is the anatomy I am most understanding of. I do take "x reader" requests. I can try to write crossovers, though I'm not too experienced with them and I do write for celebrities as well.
Requests are open now so if you do decide to make one, please include the character(s) you want and at least a small description of what you would like the plot to be. Thank you! <3

more oc dumping :33
this is seradella mott (sera for short). she's one of the first ocs i ever created, i think i made her back in 4th grade?? she's the main character of the novel that i'm working on!!! (i used olibuki's picrew btw :3)
Tumblr media
statz: she/her but doesn't really care too much, bi, metalhead filth, resident cripplingly depressed sad sack of shit
likez: sleeping the day away, stealing christophe's cigs when he's not looking, grindcore, cats, iced tea, late night drives, the saw movies, anything disgustingly sweet, uncle anton and uncle jonesy
dislikez: her stupid dad, being awake, being sober, her stupid dad again, healing piercings, carrots, putting any effort into her appearance besides her corpsepaint /hj, being warm
background: she had a super rough childhood. she was born in italy to the world's most dysfunctional couple ever. after a pretty messy divorce, sera's mom got full custody and they moved to michigan. a few years passed and everything was going smoothly until sera's dad reached out begging for forgiveness. her mom made the mistake of accepting his apology and they decided to try again which was very much for the worse. her father moved in with them again and things seemed okayish. but one day while on her way home from school, sera's parents got in a heated argument that ended in her witnessing her father murder her mother with a lamp. sera's dad sent her to live in a group home and he moved back to italy, partially because he didn't want to face the consequences but mostly because he wanted to "keep the family business running". in the home, sera met her best friend serena. they were completely inseparable to the point where they would routinely complain to school conselours when they weren't in classes together. in sophomore year, the pair met kenna (the only scene kid at the school) and candy (who ended up dating serena). over the summer after junior year, sera got a shitty part-time job selling brochures on the college campus that was a few streets over. it was there where she met christophe, who would end up becoming one of her closest friends. after graduation, sera, serena, candy, kenna, and christophe all moved in together (all courtesy of our favorite frenchman). :33

Friendly Face (but my Au in 5 sentences or less)
Friendly Face: Edward knew that Jack was missing but he positively knew that he wasn't dead. He saw him with one of those Funtimes he was sure of it but no one would believe him. They never found his body so with that being the only evidence by his side, Edward made the journey to Circus Baby’s Pizzeria to find his best friend. He knows it's a bad idea but he just can't help but think that he's in there somewhere.
Sea Bonnies: Mott has a hard time believing how stupid his little brother, Rory was. Rory wanted to see Bonnie, his favorite character but had this permanent scowl on his face once he saw the new Bonnie instead. The birthday party was tame in comparison to the tantrum Rory had when they went back home. Mott told his brother off resulting in another huge fight before his little brother ran out of home crying. Not wanting to put his already stressed parents in a rage, the older brother reluctantly followed along, having but an inkling of where he might go.
Together Forever: Jessica has been and will always be the Queen Bee of Hurricane High. Alongside her best friend Brittany, the two have always stayed on top and proved to everyone that they’re better than them. One of their infamous actions was the pranks that they always inflicted such as Elizabeth Afton. They had one prank in mind that would outshine them all. Elizabeth was scared of clowns, wasn't she?
Stitchwraith: Larson is at a loss. His son was still missing, the nightmares have become worse, and the more he doesn't make ‘progress’ the more his health declined. But his mind was permanently on this one single place he knew to be abandoned. Thinking it to be the only thing left to take his son back, Larson prepares himself for what might as well be his end. He fights not to cry but the thought of the safety and well-being of his son made him stop and think forward.

Fandom: Doctor Who Ships: Tenth Doctor/Rose Tyler Characters: Tenth Doctor, Rose Tyler, Donna Noble, Wilfred Mott Rating: General Series: Eight Nights of DoctorRose (link goes to ao3 page) Word Count: 2,708 Other Tags: Hanukkah, Holidays, Post-Episode AU: Journey's End, Rose Stays
Read on AO3
Summary: Reunited with Rose, the Doctor promises to come to dinner with Donna-- and then accidentally launches the TARDIS six months into the future.
NOTES: i said this was going to be a short little thing just so we had SOMETHING for night four and then it turned into the longest fic in the series. god. also writing tenrose makes me miss my girlfriend oh my GOD i need help. or possibly gay kissing 🤔😳
anyway the au here is that tentoo doesn't exist and donna is fine and rose is still in this universe. you all can substitute the events of your favorite journey's end au fic as explanation for how that happened. also i stole delia's jewish donna headcanons
“Will you stay for dinner?” Donna asked, looking from the Doctor to Rose. “Grandad’ll be thrilled.”
The Doctor looked at Rose, standing next to him, her hand so very warm in his. “Rose?”
“Er— yeah, of course.” Rose nodded. “I’d love to.”
“Right.” The Doctor took a breath. “We just ought to— calibrate the TARDIS— she’s had quite the shock, you know. We’ll just pop her a minute into the future, and then we’ll be right out.”
“I’m holding you to that, spaceman,” Donna said. “One minute.”
“One minute,” the Doctor repeated. He squeezed Rose’s hand and led her back to the TARDIS, pushing the door open so they could step through together. The second they were back inside, everything felt quiet: the last day or so had gone so quickly, everything happening at once, a crowd in the TARDIS, a world-ending threat, and now it was just the Doctor, back in the TARDIS with Rose.
He turned to Rose. For a moment, they just stared at each other: he took her in, the face he’d thought he’d never see again, her searching eyes, her blonde hair. And then he couldn’t hold back any longer. He reached for her, pulled her close to him, wrapped her up in the tightest hug he could manage, and her arms around his waist felt unimaginably right. He didn’t know how he’d gone without Rose for nine hundred years— didn’t know, either, how he’d survived the last two-ish in her absence. Even though he’d only had her back for a few hours, it was impossible to imagine ever being without her again. This is dangerous, some part of his mind reminded him, but he couldn’t bring himself to care.
“We don’t actually have to go to Donna’s dinner,” he murmured. “If you’re not up for it.”
“No,” Rose said into his chest, “we said we’d go. Can’t back out now.”
“Right,” the Doctor said. “Then I suppose I’d better get on with the calibration.” If he was being honest, the TARDIS calibration could have waited— the TARDIS had been damaged, but not so badly that it needed immediate attention. But he hadn’t gotten the chance to really check in with Rose, and he’d needed the excuse to spend even a few seconds alone in the TARDIS with her, just to make sure she was really there, and okay, and with him.
Rose released her hold on the Doctor’s waist, and the Doctor wasted no time in taking her hand before stepping over to the console. She came with him, her head resting against his arm, and he looked down at her with a little smile.
“You all right?” he asked quietly.
“Yeah,” Rose said. She looked up at him, and her smile hit him right between the hearts. He felt his own smile turning into a goofy grin, and she grinned back, and for a second he got lost in his own happiness, looking at her.
She squeezed his hand.
“Calibration?” she prompted.
“Calibration,” he repeated. He forced himself to let go of her so he could start the process, running halfway around the console and back, hitting buttons and throwing switches and running back to Rose as the TARDIS started up its sound. He found her watching him, still smiling, and he stared back. “What?”
“Missed this, is all.” She leaned her head against his arm again, and he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her in.
“You ready?” he asked.
“‘Course.”
Together, they walked to the TARDIS doors and stepped out. Immediately, the Doctor got a sinking feeling in his chest: it was cold, colder than it had been a few minutes ago, and when he looked around he could see twinkling fairy lights wrapped around the lamposts.
Before he could say anything, though, Donna came running out of her house, red hair half-hidden by a knit hat, already yelling, “One minute? Is that what you call one minute? You go in there and say you’re going to pop a minute in the future, and now it’s the fourth night of Hanukkah!”
The Doctor lifted his free hand to scratch the hair at the back of his neck. “Hanukkah? You never said you were Jewish.”
Donna stared. “That’s the takeaway here?”
“Well—” The Doctor looked at Rose, but Rose was laughing, grabbing at his jacket to keep herself from doubling over.
“You still can’t drive,” she wheezed.
“Oh, you mean he was like this with you, too?” Donna looked at the Doctor. “And she came back for you?”
“First time we met,” Rose said, “he told me he’d brought me back twelve hours later. Turned out it was a year.” She burst into laughter again. “And I stayed with him anyway!”
“D’you know,” Donna said, “he used to talk about you, like, all the time, and I’d sit there wondering, who in the universe would stay with him?” She looked Rose up and down. “But you seem all right. Even if you do have terrible taste in men.”
“I can’t help it,” Rose sighed. “He had me at blowing up my job.”
Donna laughed. “Well, can’t help that it’s been six months, but d’you still want to come for dinner? Only, Grandad and I were just about to light the menorah.”
“We’d love to,” the Doctor said. He glanced at Rose. “Right? We’d love to?”
“We’d love to,” Rose repeated with a nod.
The Doctor and Rose followed Donna into the house. Immediately, Wilf’s voice met his ears, calling, “Donna, was it him?”
“Yeah,” Donna called back. “Him and Rose. You remember Rose?”
Wilf came into the hallway. “Rose! You found him!”
“Yeah.” Rose smiled. “Good to see you again.”
“You too, love. Are you staying for the candle lighting?”
“They are,” Donna said.
“Oh, good!” Wilf smiled. “I’ve been learning to make latkes, you know. And we’ve got those pastries— Donna, what were they called again?”
“Sufganiyot,” Donna filled in.
“Right,” Wilf said. “Those. I’ve eaten three already today.”
“He’s eating us out of house and home,” Donna said. “Come on, you two. Menorah’s this way.” She ushered the Doctor and Rose into the living room. “Grandad, do you have the matches?”
“Give me a second,” Wilf replied from the hallway.
“We’re still getting used to this,” Donna explained. “Haven’t really celebrated Hanukkah since I was a kid. My dad’s thing, you know?”
“Ah,” the Doctor said. “Your mother’s not—”
Donna shook her head. “She’ll light candles with us if she’s not out,” she said. “‘Course, she’s started going out more and more on Friday nights, but—” She shrugged. “Grandad’s a good sport, though, isn’t he?”
Just then, Wilf came back into the room, holding a box of matches. “Put them in the kitchen yesterday. Don’t know why, considering.”
“Well, we’ve got them now.” Donna took the box in one hand. “Everyone ready?”
“Just to check,” the Doctor said. “This is just candle-lighting, yes? Bit of prayer?”
“What does it matter?” Donna asked.
The Doctor shrugged. “Got to know what I’m supposed to be ready for, don’t I?”
Rose nudged him. “Being rude.”
The Doctor rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, I like her,” Donna said. She nodded to the window, where a simple gold menorah sat on the sill. “C’mon.”
The Doctor, Rose, and Wilf followed her to the window. They took their places around the menorah.
“Don’t suppose you know the blessings already,” Donna said to the Doctor.
“Er— they might be in here somewhere. But people tend to use different tunes, don’t they?” It had been a while since the Doctor had attended any religious event, really, if you didn’t count all the times he’d almost died on Christmas.
“Well, I didn’t remember the tunes my dad used,” Donna said, “so I’ve stolen them from the synagogue.” She shrugged. “Oh, well. Either you’ll work it out or you won’t. Not my problem either way.”
The Doctor snorted. “That’s one way to think about it.”
Rose laughed.
Wilf, it turned out, was the one to carry the prayers: Donna sang, and Rose and the Doctor knew a few words each, but Wilf’s deep and enthusiastic voice seemed to fill the room. After a blessing, Donna lit the shamash and used it to light the four candles to mark the fourth night, and the Doctor drew Rose closer to him as Donna and Wilf started singing again, all four of them swaying in front of the menorah.
“All right!” Wilf exclaimed, once they were done. “Let’s eat!”
It had been a long time since the Doctor had sat around a table with a family, celebrating a holiday. If pressed, he would probably say the last time was immediately after his regeneration, eating Christmas dinner with Rose and Jackie and Mickey, pulling a red crown out of a Christmas cracker and putting it on his head— this reminded him of that, except he and Rose had gotten older, and he had newer friends, too, to celebrate with. The biggest family on Earth, Sarah Jane had said. Maybe it was true.
Once they’d eaten, they moved back into the living room, where the candles still flickered on the windowsill. Wilf and Donna each took an armchair, and the Doctor and Rose took up much less of the sofa than they technically could have, Rose leaning against the Doctor’s shoulder.
“You all right?” the Doctor asked her, keeping his voice low. “You’ve been quiet.”
“Just tired,” Rose said.
“We can go,” the Doctor said. “If you like.”
“No.” Rose nuzzled closer into his shoulder, and he wrapped his arm around her. “This is nice.”
“Suppose we could’ve made it a ‘welcome back to the universe’ party,” Donna said. “If we’d had any warning at all, that is.”
“I said sorry!” the Doctor exclaimed.
Donna shook her head. “He never changes.”
The Doctor rolled his eyes.
“Sorry,” Rose said. “Next time I’m making him let me pilot.”
“You don’t even know how,” the Doctor scoffed.
“Oh, yeah?” Rose lifted her head to look at him. “In the last two years, I helped Torchwood figure out how to jump across universes. You give me long enough, I’ll figure out how to take your TARDIS wherever I want to go.” She let her head fall back to his shoulder with a contented hum. “Besides, she likes me.”
“That she does.” The Doctor let his fingers trace up and down the leather at Rose’s shoulder. He must’ve been giving her some kind of sappy look, but he only realized when Donna started making exaggerated gagging sounds from her chair.
He shot her a look.
“You try spending two years thinking someone you care about is stuck forever in another universe,” he said. “See how you behave.”
Donna rolled her eyes. “Whatever, spaceman.”
“How do you two even know each other?” Rose asked, and the Doctor realized suddenly just how much he had to catch Rose up on. It filled him with excitement, somehow, the idea that he could talk to her now— the idea that he could tell Rose about every time he’d done or seen something and thought, I need to tell Rose about this.
“Just after we said goodbye,” the Doctor said. “Remember that? Burning up a sun?”
Rose pressed even closer to him. “I try not to think about it.”
“So do I,” the Doctor agreed. “But that was when Donna showed up in my TARDIS. In her wedding dress. Turned out her fiance was filling her with Huon particles to help a giant spider make her into a key.”
Rose hummed. “You’ll explain what all that means when I’m more awake, yeah?”
“‘Course.” The Doctor smiled. “Point is, we got each other out of trouble, and then I asked her to travel with me, and she said no, and I bounced around with Martha for a bit—”
“He was borderline mean to Martha, from what she told me,” Donna interjected. “All hung up on you—”
The Doctor winced. “I’ve had finer moments, it’s true.”
“I liked Martha,” Rose said. “Seemed nice.”
“She’s very nice,” Donna said, directly to the Doctor.
“The point is,” the Doctor said, “Donna and I found each other again, traveled together for a bit, and here we are now. Happy Hanukkah.”
“And I’m sure I’ll get more of that story later, too,” Rose added.
“I’m an open book,” the Doctor promised.
They talked a while longer— Donna updated the Doctor on what she’d done in the last six months, which seemed to involve a decent amount of work with UNIT and a worrying amount of contact with Martha, Sarah Jane, and Captain Jack, and she and the Doctor both told Rose about a few of their adventures. It was halfway through talking about Pompeii that the Doctor looked down and realized Rose had fallen asleep against his shoulder, her breath coming out in soft puffs against his jacket.
“Think maybe we’d better go,” he said softly.
“All right, then,” Donna said. “Take some of the sufganiyot with you, will you? There’s no way we’ll eat them all on our own.”
“No way you will, maybe,” Wilf protested.
“Take them anyway,” Donna said.
“You’re not coming with us?” the Doctor asked.
“Nah.” Donna winked. “Have your honeymoon. Come back for me when you’re ready.”
The Doctor let out a laugh. “Thanks.” He nudged Rose. “Rose?”
Rose’s head lifted. “Mm?” She fell back against him immediately, and he prodded her harder.
“Rose.” He moved his arm from her shoulders to her waist, trying to keep her upright. “C’mon. Let’s get you to bed.”
Rose jumped, then looked around wildly. “Wh— Doctor?”
“Shh,” he murmured. “I’m here. Let’s get back to the TARDIS, all right?”
“Okay,” Rose whispered, her body relaxing. She let the Doctor pull her to her feet, still leaning against him as they moved into the hall. It was like she fit into him, her body taking up his negative space. He’d forgotten what it could feel like, having her here. He took the box of pastries Donna handed to him and hugged her goodbye, and then he and Rose walked slowly back to the TARDIS, Rose stumbling over her own feet.
“When’s the last time you slept?” the Doctor asked.
“Dunno,” Rose replied. “Three minutes ago?”
The Doctor laughed. “Before that.”
“Oh.” Rose paused. “Not sure.”
“Well, you’ll be glad to know your room is still waiting for you.” The Doctor pushed the TARDIS doors open. “TARDIS didn’t touch it.”
Rose waved a hand at the console. “Thanks.” There was a gurgle from overhead, and the Doctor smiled.
“C’mon.”
They found Rose’s room quickly. The Doctor hesitated at the door, still not sure whether Rose would want him to come in— he’d slept in here with her a few times, and a few more times stayed awake while she slept, but those had all been special circumstances: particularly hard days, instances of illness or injury, moments of emotional need. And it had been a few years: maybe something had changed, between them. Maybe things were different now, or they’d need time to get back where they once were, or—
“Don’t be stupid, Doctor,” Rose said, tugging at his arm. “I want you to stay.”
“All right, then.” The Doctor stepped into the room, looking around. It looked just the same as it always had, with the messy bed and clothes strewn about, the pictures tacked up on the wall, the vanity at one end and wardrobe at the other. Rose stepped away from him just long enough to peel off her jacket and kick off her shoes, and he did the same, sitting gingerly at the end of the bed until Rose came back to him, sitting at the head of the bed and tugging at his arm until he joined her. She wasted no time in curling up against his chest, her arms around him, and he carefully wrapped his own arms around her waist.
“Stay with me,” she repeated, her words already slurring with sleep.
On instinct, he bent his head down to press a kiss to her hair, marveling at her softness, her presence. “Forever,” he promised, and he meant it with every cell in his body. He never wanted to let her go.

who are some of your favourite fictional psychos (non anime if possible)? tysm and Happy Halloween Nerdy Senpai 🧡 🖤
- nerdy anon
Non-anime, hm? Very intriguing question, anon ~
I'll try not to spoil too much... Just please keep in mind this probably won't be entirely spoiler free. So I apologize for that ^^"
But before I answer, a quick disclaimer :
With everything going on recently, I just want to clarify that I do NOT romanticize or support real life psychopaths, murderers, serial killers, or anyone of the sort in any way, shape, or form. Fiction is fiction, it's meant for entertainment purposes where no one gets hurt. Real life tragedies are completely different. There are real victims, real losses, and real emotions involved, those of which need to be recognized and respected.
With that out of the way... my top favorite fictional psychos are :
1. Oliver Thredson - American Horror Story : Asylum
Despite being the second season of the series, Asylum actually introduced me to American Horror Story. And oh boy, was I hooked instantly. Dr. Oliver Thredson caught my attention very early on. His rational, professional demeanor was a warm welcome in a literal madhouse. He seemed to genuinely care about people, whether they were his clients or otherwise. But surprise, surprise... He fits the "wolf in sheep's clothing" saying perfectly. His actions and the crimes he engaged in were completely vile and repulsive. But the weirdo in me was able to somewhat sympathize with him in regards to how he grew up (it certainly didn't excuse his behavior, of course). I would say that I'd be interested to see how long I'd last in his basement... But I like my skin on my body and would prefer for it to stay there haha ^^" Despite everything, Thredson will always remain one of my top favorite fictional psychopaths ~
Tumblr media
2. Dandy Mott - American Horror Story : Freak Show
Another favorite of mine from the American Horror Story franchise, this time from Season Four. He's an insufferable man-child who throws legit temper tantrums when he doesn't get his own way... But Dandy is another character who can play the part of a gentleman so perfectly. He is able to adopt such a personable, charming, charismatic attitude right before pouncing like a predator on it's prey. With that being said, there's a lot to dislike about Dandy. Especially how pompous and entitled he is. But yet again, even though it doesn't excuse him, I'm still able to strangely sympathize when it comes to his upbringing/origins. And I can't lie... It would most definitely get me killed, but I'd kinda enjoy pissing him off just to see him flip out (for those of you who are familiar with the series, I'm specifically referencing the "you're not playing by the rules!" scene with Bette and Dot xD) Fun fact : my one dog is named Dandy. So I absolutely have to include Dandy Mott on this list ~
Tumblr media
3. Tom - P2
Do you like yanderes? If so, I HIGHLY recommend watching the movie P2 because Tom is a perfect example of a yandere (and I love yanderes, so I love this movie lol). I won't go into too much depth since I never hear anyone talking about this movie, so I definitely don't want to spoil it for those of you who may want to watch it. But what I will say is that Tom is extremely delusional and a lowkey stalker, not to mention criminal considering murder, kidnapping, and drugging a person via chloroform aren't exactly smiled upon by general society nor the law. But these are all traits that make him the perfect yandere, so he earns a spot on my list of favorite fictional psychopaths ~
Tumblr media
I hope this response is good enough, wonderful nerdy anon! And Happy Halloween to you as well 🎃🖤 🧡 🖤 🎃 🖤 🧡🖤 🎃

For the ship ask game: M, U, R, Y
(For this ask game here.)
Thank you so much for the Ask, Kim. <3 I had fun with these!
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
Oh, this is an easy pick. X from Mega Man for sure (specifically the X series incarnation). He's seen as a genuinely friendly character no matter what species you are, and honestly, would easily keep me in check if for some stupid reason I did something dumb.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
Ooh, a multi-fandom question! The funny thing is all three of these characters are involved in time travel shenanigans and are very tragic characters. Nope, no pattern there, nope.
Quint (Mega Man Classic): I bet no one is surprised by this, given that a ZX version of him is technically my Tumblr avatar. My OG favorite, Quint was actually the first character of any fandom that I completely fell in love with, and a lot of my early Mega Man fanfics were about him. There are still Mega Man fans that, to this day, recognize my old username of RandyPandy and think, "Oh, the Quint fan!" The games didn't explore him much, but the moment that I found out about his backstory, all I could think of was "Wow, that's an incredibly tragic character that can be interpreted in so many different ways."
Inigo (Fire Emblem): I actually played Fates first, so that means I fell in love with Inigo's older self, Laslow, first (my Corrin married him because I liked him the most out of the possible candidates). Then I played the Hidden Fates DLC and Awakening, and learned his backstory. His policy of "Smile so that no one knows you're hurting and so you can make others happy" really struck with me during a time where I tended to hide how I felt about a lot of things (I was in an abusive job when I discovered FE), and it really endeared me to him even more than his Fates self had.
Bruno (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds): This pick I had to think about, given that my two main fandoms are Mega Man and Fire Emblem, and every other fandom that I'm into, I tend to rotate around in my head (thanks, ADHD). But Bruno was my wallpaper on my old Windows 7 desktop until it died. Beyond that, he really brings up the question of what personhood is given that he's an android mimicking a dead human, and was probably one of the most interesting characters in the season that he was in -- he was a full-on mystery (and if you only watched the dub, he remained a mystery), though there were plenty of clues that he wasn't quite what he appeared to be (he really demonstrates the trope "Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass", and really, after he got his memories back, it's a question of "How much of his dumbassery was just an act so the others didn't get suspicious, and how much of it was his true personality, without the stressors of having to make sure the world survives?")
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
Ooh, a question about platonic relationships, there definitely aren't enough of those. If we're going with a canon friendship, then I'm going to have to go with the Doctor and Wilfred Mott from Doctor Who (though X and Zero from Mega Man were a close second, I went with these two because I absolutely adore them AND in honor of Bernard Cribbins). I've enjoyed every single interaction with Wilf and the Doctor in every episode that they've been in together (especially the ones in The End of Time), and their relationship really did strike me as very parent/child, and honestly? The Doctor needs that parent/grandparent-like figure that he can just go and hide from the world with.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
Oh boy, where to even begin with this. XD Well, for one, I've seen enough Jujutsu Kaisen, Twisted Wonderland, and Danganronpa from you that I see that and my first thought is, "Oh, Kim's fandom!" Other fandoms that I've noticed that several of my friends/mutuals follow are My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, Terraria, Final Fantasy XIV, and more. XD
Kirby used to be on that list, but that changed when I did research, watched the anime, played a few games, and then wrote Lucid Dreaming.

'‘Doctor Who’, the iconic British sci-fi series, has a tradition of celebrating the festive season with special episodes. These specials are more than just regular episodes; they bring a unique blend of adventure, emotion, and the holiday spirit...
8. ‘The Runaway Bride’ (2006)
“The Runaway Bride” introduced Donna Noble, a character who would become one of the most beloved companions. This episode was a mix of humor, action, and emotional depth. Donna’s fiery personality and her chemistry with the Doctor, played by David Tennant, were highlights. The plot, involving an alien Empress and a Christmas-themed invasion, was classic Doctor Who in its blend of the absurd and the thrilling. This special was significant for setting the stage for Donna’s later development, making it a key episode in the series’ history.
7. ‘The Next Doctor’ (2008)
This special was intriguing with its concept of a man who believed he was the Doctor. The mystery surrounding this ‘Next Doctor’ was engaging, and the historical setting added an extra layer of charm. The Cybermen, always a formidable foe, made for an exciting antagonist in this Victorian-era adventure.
This episode stood out for its emotional storytelling and the exploration of identity and legacy, themes central to Doctor Who. It was a well-crafted tale that combined the show’s trademark sci-fi elements with a poignant human story.
5. ‘Voyage of the Damned’ (2007)
“Voyage of the Damned” was an action-packed adventure set aboard a spaceship designed to resemble the Titanic. The episode’s scale and ambition were impressive, offering a mix of spectacle and emotion. The Doctor’s heroism and the diverse cast of characters made for an engaging story. This special had the right balance of excitement, danger, and heart, embodying what makes Doctor Who so beloved. The disaster movie vibe, blended with the show’s sci-fi elements, created a thrilling and memorable Christmas special.
3. ‘The Christmas Invasion’ (2005)
“The Christmas Invasion” was significant for being the first Christmas special with my favorite Doctor, the Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant. This episode was a thrilling introduction to Tennant’s Doctor, combining high stakes with festive charm. The plot involving an alien invasion during Christmas was classic Doctor Who, blending humor, suspense, and holiday spirit. Tennant’s charismatic performance and the episode’s engaging storyline made it a standout special. It perfectly captured the excitement and wonder of the Doctor’s adventures, setting a high bar for future specials.
1. ‘The End of Time’ (2009/2010)
“The End of Time,” a two-part Doctor Who special, stands out as a monumental achievement, marking the final chapter of the Tenth Doctor, portrayed by David Tennant. Comparable to ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in its scale and ambition, this special brought together an expansive cast of characters, weaving in the Doctor’s various companions, including the beloved Rose Tyler, and showcasing a grand reunion that predates similar cinematic events. The Return of the Master, played by John Simm, added depth and intensity to the story, with his complex relationship with the Doctor being a highlight. Additionally, the presence of other Time Lords, including Rassilon and characters like Wilfred Mott (Wilf), contributed to the narrative’s emotional depth and epic scope.
This special was not just a farewell to Tennant’s Doctor but a celebration of his journey, blending high-stakes sci-fi with profound emotional storytelling. It offered closure, not only for the Tenth Doctor but for the companions and stories that had been integral to his era. The End of Time’s ability to combine adventure, heart, and the Doctor’s ultimate sacrifice made it a standout episode in television history and a pinnacle of the Doctor Who series. It remains a beloved and exemplary representation of what makes Doctor Who so enduring and impactful.'

a/n: below are some personal hcs about the beach! :) i hope you all enjoy reading them! 🤍
characters: obito uchiha (duh!)
warnings: modern au, some spoilers to the chapters, some suggestive content, fluff, just overall cute content.
The Beach: Headcanons!
Tumblr media
- one of my favorite headcanons is that Obito’s celebrity crush is SZA 😭. he’s the type to deadass talk about her to every single frat guy, and he loves her. he would also follow her everywhere because he’s just obsessed (in a healthy way!).
- Obito would eat those Mott’s fruit snacks all the damn time. he walks around the frat house literally eating a whole box because he’s been obsessed since his mom gave them to him when he was a kid. they are like a comfort food for him at this point 😭. DO NOT EVER TAKE HIS FRUIT SNACKS.
- Obito lost his virginity when he was in his junior year 😭, and he deadass ran away after because he hated it. he had to research so much about sex afterwards.
- me and @kxmisato have talked about this so many times, but Obito has this habit of biting you whenever he has the chance. he’ll bite your cheek or he’ll lay between your thighs and playfully bite your leg. he just can’t help but do it 😭.
- he’s allergic to strawberries. don’t ask why or how, but he’s very allergic. don’t give him strawberry’s 😑.
- believe it or not, but Obito loves to be little spoon sometimes. if you’re cuddling, sometimes he’ll switch positions so he’s laying on your chest. he feels so much comfort when you do this, and sometimes he’ll fall asleep like that. THIS BOY LOVES AFFECTION!! DON’T DENY HIM SOME CUDDLING.
- he spends 30 minutes trying to send the right picture to you. he will literally sit there and look at every photo before finding the right one. he’s so picky too 🙄, so if you take pics with him he will be such an ass.
- this guy hates tomatoes with a passion. the idea of them disgusts him, so don’t even try to convince him to try them.
- Obito really likes your cheeks. he’ll squeeze, bite, pinch, anything. he loves the way they look, and he’s obsessed with them. THIS GUY IS ADORABLE AND HE LOVES TO KISS THEM.
- he’s not afraid to moan 😏.
- since Obito plays basketball in the beach, he loves to try and teach you new things. he knows you’re not familiar with the sport, so he thinks it is his destiny to teach you about everything. he often teases you whenever you miss a shot, and you want to punch him whenever he makes fun of you. he’s also the type to beg for a kiss after he makes a shot. he’s corny like that, okay? 😭
- tackles you for absolutely no reason. you’ll be minding your own business and he’ll just tackle you on the couch with his arms tightly wrapped around you.
- LOVES TO PLAY-FIGHT.
- Obito often plays video games when he’s bored, so if you call him randomly, he’ll most likely be on the game. if you do, he’ll make sure to prop his phone up and move one of his headphones to the side so he can listen to you. he’s pretty good at responding, and he’s never the type to ignore you. it’s honestly super cute <3.
- has asked you multiple times to suck his dick while he plays games 🙄
- some of y’all might get an ick, but Obito would deadass threaten to fart on you if you don’t hug or cuddle him. HE WILL DEADASS TRY AND SCARE YOU BY TURNING AND PUTTING HIS BUTT IN YOUR DIRECTION 😭.
- since he’s allergic to strawberries, he avoids anything strawberry related except for the scent. he loves the scent, so he gets salty over being allergic. he also had a pink drink once and almost died because the worker left a strawberry in it 😭.
- Obito follows you around everywhere. he has a habit of just following you when you go into another room, and he’ll wait if you’re in the bathroom. he’s a clingy little shit <3.
- YOU CANNOT TAKE OBITO ANYWHERE IN PUBLIC. he’s often a dirty minded person, so he’ll go out of his way to brush his dick on your ass while you’re at the store. you’ll ignore it, but then he just keeps doing it to get your attention and you get annoyed because he won’t stop and you’re trying to shop. it usually ends with you giving him head in the parking lot.
- once threw a ball at your head, and he never ran faster in his life.
- I LOVE HIM SO SO MUCH 🥰.

AHStories Dollhouse Episode 1 (SPOILERS)
This first episode was everything I’ve been waiting for from AHS & am beyond hype to see the rest! In my opinion episode 1 alone topped the entire last double feature season of AHS & the first season of AHStories, combined. I think the creators do such a phenomenal job with time pieces. The house & setting, the decor & colors, the accents, the storytelling - they take us back in time.
I absolutely LIVE for Spaulding’s origin story & the return of Miss Robichaux’s Academy. One of my favorite things about AHS is the possibility of ever expanding backstories we can receive on the characters. We never knew why Spaulding loved dolls as much as he did, going as far as to dress up Madison Montgomery’s dead body as a doll, & this episode allowed us to take a step into the psyche of Spaulding. I wasn’t sure how the main character’s witchy powers were going to play into the episode, but by the end I couldn’t pick my jaw off the floor! For a moment I questioned if the young boy would somehow turn out to be Dandy Mott, & I honestly can’t believe I didn’t put it together sooner that he might be Spaulding. The reveal was perfectly set, for you don’t realize who he is the entire episode. It’s interesting knowing how that little boys life will turn out; that he’ll eventually kill for women because he longs so much for a mother figure, that he’ll cut his own tongue out, that he’ll spend years around so many powerful women after spending his younger childhood with a psychopathic father.
I’m wondering if each episode is going to reveal a back story of a character from each season, but regardless I’m excited to see how they expand on the Dollhouse idea. I loved how they ended the episode showing the father & his hitman being burned in their portion of the Dollhouse, the rest of the rooms untouched. What else do you think we will we get to see in the rest of the Dollhouse universe? Maybe the Dollhouse was only episode one & the rest will feature other styled stories?
