#hmm their canon dynamic intrigues me so much too since there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding both of them

“don’t cry, my child”
i was thinking about how venti canonically refers to the people of mondstadt as his “children” and how kaeya is included in that… then the brainrot took over and then i thought, what if when kaeya was a little kid and he felt lonely sometimes, venti would decide to shapeshift back into his little wind sprite form to comfort him…

oh and also idk if the amoneki blog is the place to ask but can u tell me about ur opinion of eto :]
OH HELL YEAH !!!! I should've clarified, I'm cool with asks for anything/anyone, unfortunately I might not have as much to say for some characters/ships since. I'm still getting through the manga orz but I'd down to discuss anyone!!
Also sidenote but thank you for sending two asks?? I'm answering this one first since the amoneki ask will take me. A while. But also I read this and immediately went "eto !!! eto holy shit it's her!!" so I must get the energy out (and hope it's coherent)
How I feel about this character:  Goddd Eto is so fucking Cool as a character. She has so many things I absolutely Love in one character. She's an absolute monster in terms of power, eldritch-like, she is a horror beyond anyone's comprehension and I love her so much for that. When she made her first (I think) big appearance in :re (Volume 5. The Kanae Scene) I loved her sooo much more I love her fucked up-ness, I love her Apple and God Thing and 'breaking down people's idols and becoming their god' because I Love religious symbolism. She's so ominous and formidable and she has such a fucking presence, it's amazing, yet at the same time we still see the same loneliness in her that's prevelant in the majority of Tokyo Ghoul, but maybe even moreso. Throughout the series it's shown how important parents and family are and how they've shaped the characters and give them drive (especially considering almost nobody has both parents. alive, and it effects everyone So Much it's a constant theme.) And obviously Eto couldn't really. Have that. At all. And it fucked her up definitely. The loneliness is overshadowed by. The Monstrosity (which makes sense of course, because that loneliness also brews Hatred for the world) but it also cuts through in things like her writing as Takatsuki Sen (which Kaneki obviously picks up on and relates to), the way it shines through when she's able to deconstruct others' desires and wills and suffering (after all, one must experience suffering themself to truly understand someone else's), and the slight respite with Aogiri (man. I wish to know more of her dynamics with the members/executives so bad) god I love her so much, she also has such a cool character design I'm in love with it, I can't wait to see her even more in :re.
All the people I ship romantically with this character:  Hmm since she hasn't made too many major appearances with individual characters so far none really yet? However I feel like I may grow very intrigued in etoken, two people that share loneliness, they're also a little fucked up I think they could be interesting together (I'm certain they're gonna interact more later also i've seen. the eyeball scene (on accident) and honestly yeah that's my kinda Weirdness))
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Again I want to see more of her appearances/interactions with others more first !! But I'd honestly be happy just to see her interact with the other Aogiri executives more, it's pretty entertaining and it's definitely my kinda thing
My unpopular opinion about this character:  I guess I wouldn't really know if anything I thought is considered unpopular haha, I just kinda like her all around okay?
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Well, currently I just want to see her more in general, although I think seeing more of the ways she can totally screw with people would be great, she is so Psychological Horror and I fully support it
my OTP: Again, none yet but there may be Something on the horizon
my cross over ship: Honestly I don't really have any crossover tg ships
a headcanon fact: I am taking this opportunity to increase the religious undertones tenfold. She can pull out So many bible references on the fly (that a lot of people probably don't get) and definitely weaves them throughout her writing (Kaneki canonically knows things from the bible, more than the average person at least, so he would absolutely pick up on them). I think she'd have some very interesting thoughts about the bible and what it says about humanity and the idea of God itself, and she definitely owns one somewhere
Hopefully that wasn't too long orz Anyways yes I see Eto in my inbox and I jump up and down in excitement I don't have a coherent list of favorite characters but she is definitely Somewhere in there and I'd let her rip my limbs off anyday Eto my beloved

11x01 Reaction Post
Random thoughts on and reactions to 11x01; no careful analysis or anything, just the bits and pieces that's not likely to make it into meta proper but which I still want to make note of so I can go back later and remember what my initial reaction to the episode was (since my impressions are likely to change as the season unfolds). Mostly Gallavich related, because duh, but there's disordered rambling on a bit of everything. Under a cut (God I miss LJ sometimes) because this got long.
Ian looks damned good as the homocidal muscle. I don't do AU:s, but if I did... On the other hand, Frank as a member of the Chicago “Eight” looks like a werewolf. Less interested in that AU. And listen, I get that they couldn't get Emmy Rossum for this, but I really miss Fiona showing up in a few random olden day pictures. She's gone, but she's still a Gallagher dammit! Carl at the slaughter house looked weird – and part of me thought that was appropriate because slightly off editing would be a sweet way of communicating that it's all bollocks, but the rest of shots looked okay (Debbie as a milk maid and Frank as the aforementioned werewolf) or good (everything else) so no.
The sound of a baby crying is a horror matched only by persistent lack of sleep so I feel for Lip and Tami so much. Here's to all parents who managed to get through the first year without murdering anybody! I think that maybe you don't get enough credit... I, for instance, want to kill someone just hearing Freddie cry in the background for half a minute. Not sure it bodes too well for their relationship for them to be so ready to spend every night apart like Lip suggests, but a, what wouldn't you do for a good night's sleep, and b, love the thought of Lip spending more time at the old house. Could see them breaking up during the course of the season, though. Not sure how I feel about that – Tami's my favourite out of Lip's love interests, but having too many of the couples staying together all through the finale wouldn't feel quite right (for Shameless) and I don't see them breaking up Ian and Mickey or Kev and V. Don't really expect Sandy or Debbie to last either, but since it's more of a casual thing it might have more of a casual end.
Do you remember when the promo dropped and there was Concern about That Look on Ian's face after he kisses Mickey, and I tag theorized about it being because Mickey stole his coffee? Turns out there wasn't really A Look in the actual episode, but I sure as hell was right about the coffee, and I want noted somewhere. Maybe there should also be a small diploma? A golden statue seems a little over the top, but I mean, if you insist...
I appreciate that Ian is very adament about it being their money but when Mickey thinks it's their breakfast it's suddenly every man for himself. Do you share or not, Ian? Hmm? (Let the record show that I'm joking, please. Ian is damned right to take his toast back, and I say this as a “person most likely to steal their partner's toast right out of their hand”. I also love that Mickey completely gives up on breakfast when he can't have Ian's toast and just grabs a beer instead.) The kitchen scene is glorious and I just really like their dynamic here; the casual kiss, “I only make breakfast for husbands who have jobs”, how relaxed it is even when Ian's a bit annoyed, Mickey being so... Mickey. I do wonder what went through his head when Ian started talking about their wedding present money, though – he seems worried for a moment, but then shrugs it off, and that could be either bravado or just actual lack of concern. I tend mostly towards the latter, since Mickey quite genuinely figures this isn't a big deal (even though he still recognizes that Ian will probably think it one). Please note that he immediately offers to get money when Ian mentions that they need more of it coming in. Not his fault Ian vetoes his methods, right? (Also love that Ian's objection is due to him not wanting to be separated from Mickey, rather than any moral qualms about robbing stores.)
Okay, the gag ball. Would they really keep it like that if they were actually using it? Maybe either of them just tossed it there after taking it off, I suppose... Yeah, I don't know. Not what I'd imagined them being into, but that might be my own extreme lack of enthusiasm for gag balls and harnesses talking. Either they're into it and if so, you do you, boys, or it was a gift and they're keeping it around and semi-prominently on display for shits and giggles. (But if it was a gift, they did try it at least once, right?)
Mickey in the bath remains stupidly and surprisingly gorgerous. Incidentally, I really don't think his question about the meds is any indication of him not thinking them important, but there's little wonder that Ian bristles at the mention of them. Maybe not be an ass just to prove a point, eh, Mick?
I've already talked about how hard Ian is trying here but let's just take another moment to congratulate our boy on his persistent attempts at mature communication. Though he might have given some actual consideration to Mickey not wanting to save the money if he's really serious about them making decisions together... But he gets there! I think this whole situation – which would royally piss most people, including me, off – is actually particularly difficult for Ian, because he might well see Mickey's behavior as uncomfortably reminiscent of Frank and Monica's destructive habits and yeah, that would fuck him up. And still! He forces himself to calm down! He takes Mickey's hand! He refuses to let himself be distracted by Mickey looking SO INSANELY PRETTY I CANNOT EVEN UNDERSTAND IT! Ian, I salute you!
[starwars_eu_nerd_mode]KORRIBAN! YES! HA! TAKE THAT DISNEY! You take your new so-called “canon” and your “Moraband” and you fuck right off. I salute you, Bitcoin Boy![/starwars_eu_nerd_mode]
Ah, the porch scene... This one I do have a bunch of thoughs on that will probably make it into meta proper one day, so I'll leave it for now. It was the one that took the most thinking about for me to square (still not a lot, it should be noted), but now I'm actually very happy about it. (Full disclosure: none of their scenes feel quite right the first time I see them these days, because I'm just so very on edge about what's to come that I kind of miss the forest for all the trees you know? It's not a Shameless thing – it's always like this when I'm extremely invested in something and have waited for it for some time. Will it fit with how I see the characters? Will it be cringey? Will Mickey suddenly profess a love for hideous Hawaii shirts? Also, what are they saying because English is hard... But then I watch them a couple of times and they sink in and I start to get giddy over them. I guess watching actual canon unfold always requires a little bit of re-calibration if you've been busy fanoning while waiting for it to arrive, and while I love that sort of interpretative work, there’s also the fear that the show will veer off into a direction I cannot easily follow.)
Mickey's insistence that he spelled monogamy wrong does genuinely amuse me. Not to mention the whole “No more parking tickets for me!” - “You don't have a car, dumbass.” Also, Mickey being friendly with Carl kills me, in a good way. Family FTW!
Frank's storyline fails to stir even the vaguest hint of interest in me, as per usual. For all his talk of family in this episode, the lack of interaction with any of his kids is striking. If he's to have any value at all this season I'll need him to get involved in the rest of the Gallagher's storylines (which seems like it might be happening at least for a bit later on, so I'm vaguely hopeful?). I find but faint intrigue in Carl's and Debbie's stuff, but it doesn’t annoy me either so I'll call it a win. Kev and V are (almost) always a delight, but do anyone else feel like their kids are only props, even to them? I don't know... I just don't think there's a connection or sense of realness to their relationship, you know? Maybe it's just me... Anyway, here's to hoping V turning pageant mom changes all that! Oh, and I'll need Liam to have some more screentime and stuff to do.
The Tommy and Kermit thing was weird. Eh. Whatever.
Sandy is so gorgerous. I can't. The Milkoviches really be bringing it this episode.
This is only the second season I've watched episode by episode as it airs (other one was S6) and it's a curiuos experience. I think that by and large, and particularly in later seasons, Shameless works better when you binge it, but I love the delightful anticipation of waiting for a new episode and the feverent discussion that follows. Sometimes I also despair over the ferverent discussion that follows, but... you know. It is what it is. Admittedly, any attempts at meta this early in the season is a precarious venture at best, since we don't have the whole story, and it might be wiser to abstain but it's just so much fun, so I'm not very likely to stop.
All in all, I love the Gallavich stuff, am intrigued by Lip & Tami and Kev & V's lives, okay with whatever Debbie and Carl's got going on, hot for Sandy, bored by Frank, and missing Liam. It sets up a lot of promising things, but as an episode all unto itself it felt a bit empty – probably because there were no real plots and the storylines didn't intersect as much as I would have liked them to. Shameless is best when it's about family, which both the show and Frank seems to recognize, but there's little narrative follow-through on that realization in this episode; everyone is pretty much doing their own thing. Adored the Lip and Ian convo, and that house party scene was wonderful, but so short. Think we'll get more of all of them together going forward, though, and more actual plots too, so I'm very excited about it all. Can't wait for Sunday!

i wish to hear more about part 5 avdol 👀
OMG I WOULD LOVE TO THANK U FOR GIVING ME AN EXCUSE TO KIND PERSON
i genuinely think avdol would become a good mentor figure for everyone in the buccigang, including and not limited to bruno and abbacchio. giorno and him are probably closest tho,,,but i also do like the idea of fugo and avdol being close cause i like to think fugo reminds avdol of himself when he was younger (this is more headcanony than canon stuff tho)
as for actual plot stuff and how avdol would affect it;;;;;; due to avdol’s competence, no one dies <3 sorry araki but nara bruno and abbacchio are alive now. I'm still trying to work out the details regarding how he could prevent bruno’s death tho. maybe bruno will still have to die but I'm thinking about it
ALSO bc of avdol’s influence i think fugo would hum and haw over if he should go with the bucci gang some more. i dont think he actually will tag along completely, BUT he doesnt just leave he just does some sniffing around from the inside. they’ll meet up again later rather than fugo tagging along from the beginning. like fugo is like “yall r crazy. let me do sum research and ill get back to you” and maybe fugo finds polnareff that way (lmfao could u imagine. pol gets kakyoin flashbacks)
lots of kakyoin flashbacks actually. this would really be a bone breaker if this is an au where kakyoin is still dead
ANYWAY. since I'm still not sure abt the details of avdol’s impact on the PLOT, lemme get into character dynamics
giorno: big mentor figure, probably steals some (a lot) of bruno’s thunder in this regard. giorno just rlly respects him and avdol acknowledges giorno is a very hardworking kiddo (which giorno appreciates). i imagine he grows very fond of him throughout the events of va. idk if it would ever cross the line of mentor-protegee to father-son but regardless they're rlly close and giorno values his opinions a lot when he becomes the don even tho avdol says he doesnt wanna be involved in mafia business (and he doesnt but he cares more about the well being of his kids ie the buccigang than staying away from organized crime)
fugo: fugo is like a crazy thrashing dog that is going insane and yet never turns to nip at its owner who is holding it back (in this case that is avdol). yea i imagine avdol and fugo have a good relationship Eventually but it takes fugo some time understandably to accept/warm up to it cause of his issues with authority figures and how they've done him dirty before. avdol is nothing if not a patient man tho and i imagine fugo eventually comes to rlly trust him which is why he decides to squirrel around to get buccigang some info on the inside of the gang rather than disembark completely
narancia: nara would be as hostile as he can be at first i feel like cause he might think avdol is trying to replace bruno but once he learns avdol is a) not in the gang and will never be in the gang he’s not trying to take anyone’s position and b) sees BRUNO warm up 2 avdol, he accepts him very fast. it’s like a switch flipped it’s v sudden and intense change in demeanor. avdol is kinda surprised but like he’ll take it. avdol thinks nara is very funny and he helps him out w schooling when fugo is gone. avdol also listens to nara’s music w him and gives him recommendations which narancia is SUPER HAPPY ABT cause no one was willing to talk music with him before (indulge him and let HIM talk abt it yes, but never respond in turn and have a conversation before). nara loves avdol and avdol loves him in return. fun family (:
mista: hmm i cant see mista and avdol being suuuper close?? at least not at first but they def get along. but when avdol gets comfortable enough w the buccigang to do his funky fun smartass stuff sometimes (like how he was during the judgement fight) mista and him get a LOT closer. mista thinks avdol is the funniest man on the planet and they can have good talks. avdol is a good person to think out loud with which i think mista kinda needs. also I'm sure avdol is enamored with the sex pistols. not many stands can even talk yet these lil guys have outright personalities of their own. avdol joins mista during feeding time just cause he’s rlly intrigued by these lil guys. mista was a little weirded out at first but since warming up to avdol he doesnt mind (:
trish: HIS DAUGHTER NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! he’s got the age, he’s got the kindness, he’s got the patience, he’s got the respect, HE!!!!!! IS. HER DAD NOW. avdol might've laid the sympathy on a little too thick when they first met so trish might not have liked him much at first, but he notices she’s rlly stressed out and talks her thro it/lets her speak her mind which is rlly nice. trish hasn't ever had anyone prompt her to lose her shit before helping her to piece back together again but tis nice. when trish is supposed to be dropped off with diavolo, she actually hugs avdol (: also when trish awakens spice girls u BET avdol is rooting her on and helping her get more comfortable w her stand. avdol is thinks spice girls is rlly fuckin cool and combined w spice girls and avdol’s guidance, trish actually gets rlly handy at using her stand. pls imagine magician’s red and spice girls just chilling. thanks. anyway if avdol were to legally adopt ANYONE in the buccigang it would be trish. trish lives w him after va
abbacchio: i don't think avdol and abbacchio would be besties but bruno trusts him and narancia likes him so i think abbacchio wouldn't hate him despite them first meeting bc of giorno lolol. so like they're civil but i cant imagine their interactions getting warmer until after avdol tags along when they split up from the gang. abbacchio is like “why tf r u even still here” and avdol is like “YOURE the oldest here and ur only 21 u need an actual adult. no but i just wanna watch over the kids and make sure they're safe” abbacchio respects that. also avdol encouraging trish to train w spice girls is why trish is able to keep abbacchio from getting a fist through the torso (she makes him rubbery as spice girls can do so he can withstand the punch king crimson gives him) and he's kinda grateful bc of that to both abbacchio And trish. uhh yeah. lol. also avdol has good taste in wine which abbacchio can respect
bruno: FINALLY the man himself. for a long time he is just politely friendly towards avdol cause idk if bruno would know how to deal w someone who would be more likely to be a mentor to Him rather than vice versa but as avdol and him spend more time together and watch over the kiddos and abbacchio together they get more comfortable. idk if they’d ever get close close but bruno can rely on avdol and he does during the final fight. when they come out victorious bruno kinda promises him he’ll always have a home in italy if he needs anywhere to rest it’d be sweet (: avdol in turn would say if ur ever in egypt just ask around and u’ll find me
anyway uhhhhh yeah. i hope u enjoyed reading all this fjkdnjc;n i just think. avdol is very loveable and very cool and he would've added a lot to part 5 in my opinion,,,,

웃 ♀ ✔ ☯ ▼! <3
ask the mun / @tilkitsumu
웃 - An existing character you’ve played in the past that you miss?
I do miss a lot of my muses, but mainly Akagi Shouhei (K Project); Gon Freecss (HXH); Klaus von Reinherz (Kekkai Sensen); and Hanamiya Makoto (KNB) in terms of anime rp-dom. They are characters close to my heart to this day (and yes, they are also my favorites in each series, too!).
♀ - A trope you catch yourself falling back too often?
Mutual pining is my jam, yoooo. Rivals to lovers is pretty good, too. Nothing beats all kinds of soulmate prompts, too. [Insert Pacha meme]
✔ - What drew you to the character you currently play? What types of characters are you generally drawn to?
I think I’ve always had a penchant for supporting/side characters. And when I saw Akaashi’s dynamic with Fukuroudani and Bokuto, I was immediately intrigued. After that, I read a meta post about Akaashi’s personality, and before I knew it, I was already making this blog (and that was 4 years ago wow).
And more often than not, I’m more drawn to side characters. Like it can range from kind and nice genkis, to assholes, to a lovable weirdo like Akaashi sdjhskd. I love exploring and fleshing these kinds of characters out through plots and headcanons!
☯ - Greatest challenge to writing your character?
Hmm, I’ve been writing Akaashi from 2016-2017, then started writing him back last March, so I think that much time passed has helped me get back into writing shape.
When I compare my old writing to the present, I think I’ve definitely improved upon Akaashi’s personality. In the past, he’s kinda a bit more aloof and blunt. But now, he just feels… balanced and nuanced. It did help that I read a lot of his chapters more (326-337 and timeskip… cries a lot again)
It was really awkward when I first got back, since ofc, there were new people instead of the blogs I knew before. But now, I enjoy my time here very much as much as I do in my previous blogs. ^^
▼ - Are there popular head canons for your character that you disagree with? Why?
I’ve said a couple of times in this blog already, but I do not agree that he’s “pretty” in the world of the series. I mean, we have Oikawa who has fans flocking him. Like, the official anime art is making me conflicted about it, because they really do make him pretty _(:3JL_)_.
There’s also that side of the fandom that puts him on such a pedestal, wherein they turn him into this suave and smooth mothertrucker saying “babe” and “baby” and I’m-- ((sirens blaring from ambulance coming to save my life)) He’s! An! Awkward! Owl! Okay!
And even in the timeskip, he’s still kinda awkward and oblivious to people’s thoughts of him ahahaha. Basically, “if you don’t love me at my--” “then you don’t deserve at my--” meme :)

4x04 Personal Highlights
So I know that there has been a lot of negativity surrounding this past episode, but I would like to point out that it was far from being all bad and I would say it was a hell of a lot better than episode four from LAST season (aka. my least favourite episode of this show, ever) there was actually some good shit buried in this episode that I would like to address.
Never too much positivity, right fam?
Okay, I’ll get to it.
1. “Bellamy should be back by now.”
I mean, it’s self-explanatory. Even the C/exa queen is writing us some Bellarke shit .. hmm, I wonder why? Maybe cause she has to? Maybe cause Bellarke is becoming canon? Huh, weird.
2. Monty being a total babe and trying to comfort Clarke
It only serves to make the absence of his name on The List that much more painful, but I love seeing Monty trying to cheer Clarke up. He’s such a beacon of light. @the-ships-to-rule-them-all and @abazethe100 talked on their podcast about how its not just Monty’s brain and skills that make him invaluable, but who he is at his core - a source of optimism and support. He holds people together. I thought it was worth mentioning because @theskyboxpodcast is always good, but I especially loved that bit.
3. Devon’s acting
The writers truly could not have picked a better actor to play Jasper. He kills it, over and over and over again. Devon is the perfect mix of humour and tragedy that makes Jasper so heartbreaking and unique. He brings life to this character in a way that few actors could. That scene in the rain perfectly demonstrates this.
(UNRELATED: I’d love to see how Jaha was managing out on that lake when he heard about the acid fog. The possibilities are never-endingly humourous.)
4. Kane calling out Octavia
This scene was soooo validating because its the first time that Octavia’s actions have TRULY been called out. And it wasn’t just a brief call-out, it was an entire lengthy scene dedicated to why Octavia’s actions are NOT being supported by the narrative and are NOT right or honourable.
“A warrior knows when not to kill. Lincoln taught you that. You seem to have forgotten.”
FINALLY RECOGNITION THAT A WOMEN WITH A SWORD IS NOT ALWAYS BADASS AND EMPOWERING. IT TAKES MORE THAN THAT. IT TAKES HONOUR
And to those of you who were screaming about Octavia never dealing with the consequences of her actions after ... what? 4x02? YOU COULDN’T WAIT TWO EPISODES??? WHY DO YOU JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS WHY DO YOU TORTURE YOURSELVES? Short rant concluded. This was a top-knotch scene.
5. LUNA
She is so gorgeous and her voice is so soothing. She makes every episode better just be existing.
6. THE ISLAND IS SO COOL
I’M SO GLAD THAT ALIE’S MANSION IS NOT THE ONLY THING WE GET TO SEE OF THIS ISLAND. THE WHOLE INTRIGUE SURROUNDING BECCA AND HER LAB AND THE DRONES AND THE “MUTANT LINE” AND THE MYSTERIOUS THINGS THAT ALIE’S SECURITY IS “PROTECTING” THEM FROM IS SO INTERESTING AND ITS SO DIFFERENT FROM ANYTHING THIS SHOW HAS DONE BEFORE AND BOY AM I EXCITED TO FIND OUT WHAT’S GOING ON AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THIS STORYLINE. AND ALSO I, AND A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE, TOTALLY PREDICTED THAT THEY WERE HEADED BACK TO ALIE’S ISLAND TO FIND A LAB OF SOME SORT BACK IN THE HIATUS SO GOOD-WORK TEAM. NOTHING GETS PAST THIS FANDOM, I SWEAR.
7. Jackson being a total babe and helping out Raven this episode/showing compassion and concern
So I’ve seen people shipping it and I am ... oddly, not opposed??? I mean, he’s sweet and that banter was nice and he’s a doctor which means he’s probs smart and also can help her out with her pain (kinda) and it will never happen but I CAN DREAM OKAY?
Also, Jackson is Jackson’s only name. I’m sorry, I don’t make the rules. You will never hear me referring to Jackson by any other name. #dealwithit
8. “Save us all” sounds like “keep us all clean” in Trigadesleng because apparently Grounders know their priorities
I guess this explains why L.exa had that deep conditioned shit last season while Clarke was progressing through her slow but steady evolution into a dirty mop
9. “I’ve never met a line I wouldn’t cross.”
Richard you get the best lines. And you slay them every time.
10. MURPHY AND RAVEN’S DYMAMIC
I’M SO EXCITED. Lindsey and Richard are both a thrill to watch and they’re both so sassy and their history is just ... WOW. They haven’t had many scenes together ever since that KILLER scene in the dropship where we learned Murphy’s backstory which is a total crime because THEIR CHEMISTRY SERIOUSLY FLIES THROUGH THE ROOF.
I do think Murphy was trying to get on Raven’s good side when he grabbed her and helped her to safety and it was definitely for his personal motives, but I do also believe that a large part of him wanted to do it as an attempt to make up for fucking up her life so bad as well. It’s such an interesting dynamic to watch.
Just want to clarify that I don’t ship it because ... y’all he literally shot her and paralyzed her why do you do this?? But I definitely want to see more of them on my TV screen
11. Dad!Kane cupping his son’s face
Need I say more?
12. “Warriors don’t reveal their secrets.”
AND ECHO LOOKS AT BELLAMY BECAUSE HE DIDN’T CAVE AND REVEAL THEIR SECRETS BECAUSE MY BOY IS SO STRONG
13. Ice Nation is SO much more interesting than Trikru
BYEEEEEEEEEEEEE
14. “Remember that time we welded your dad’s furniture to the ceiling? Now THAT was a prank.”
I WOULD SAY SO MONTY LMAO THIS IS SO EXTRA AND I LOVE IT
CLASSIC JONTY I CAN CLEARLY ENVISION THEM DOING THIS
15. “You’re not God, Clarke. You don’t get to decide who lives and dies.”
Hmm ... that’s an interesting line. Almost like it might be ... I don’t know ... A major theme of the show or something?
Also A++ delivery Devon. Kudos.
16. This show is SO GOOD with moral dilemmas
They truly do bring their A-Game every season. The List is just one example of these so-called moral dilemmas. There truly is no right choice. Clarke was pragmatic, everything she did made SENSE. But was it moral? Was it humane? That’s another story, and it’s one these writers are not afraid to tell.
17. Monty and Clarke’s interactions are all so on point
“You’re the one going too far and using the same old justification: it’s all for my people.”
ANOTHER MAJOR THEME ALERT
Monty is spilling the tea this episode and while I understand Clarke’s mindset and sympathize with her for dealing with the pressure on her shoulders, everything that Monty said in this scene was absolutely 100% true, and it’s going to come into play in Clarke’s character arc this season, I am sure.
18. Raven’s struggle with her leg is so real
Kim perfectly captured the struggles that Raven has to deal with and how her leg, while limits her physical ability, certainly does not limit her determination, her skill, and her brain.
19. “What if the fight is all we are? We torture, kill, betray. We pretend we’re more than that just to make ourselves feel better, but it’s a lie.”
I love this line so much. This episode encapsulates so many themes and big ideas of the show (and it grapples with morality in hugeeeee ways) and I’m loving it.
20. “You’re not a prisoner, Luna. You have a choice.”
Raven putting her gun down and saying this to Luna is SO important, especially when you think about how Clarke tried to force the flame on her in 3x14. Free will was a major theme last year and I’m glad to see it paying off now.
21. Jaha swooping in and stealing that crowd
Listen. I know that there are many conflicted opinions on Jaha and I know that lot of people hate him. But I have never been more intrigued. His story this season is sooo interesting. I have no idea what to expect from him. I feel as though he is so disconnected from the other characters at this point in the narrative that he’s a complete wild card. Do I trust him or not? Should I? What are his motives? What knowledge does he have that the other characters don’t?
He’s so fascinating to me in that he is completely unpredictable. His story this season could break off in just about any direction.
This scene was really fun to watch. Clearly, Jaha’s years of being a Chancellor comes in handy with a crowd. He knows what to do, what to say, to sway them. It reminds me of Bellamy, in a way, actually. Say what you will about Jaha, but he has a way with words and he knows how to inspire people. I can’t wait to see how this goes.
(I totally think that lottery is bullshit and I think that Jaha realizes this, but he’s manipulating the crowd. We’ll see how this blows up in our faces later.)
“The people need to feel like they have a say in their fate.”
Another interesting line that I enjoyed. Just wanted to point it out.
22. “It’s the only choice you gave yourself. If you think you have the best idea, you have to convince people, not lie to them. Or lock them up.”
So choices and free will and truth and morality are all big focusses of this episode. People seem to overlook how much great thematic stuff is in 4x04 but there’s a lot and it’s great.
23. Becca’s lab is bomb AF
24. BOB MORLEY DESERVES A FUCKING EMMY PLEASE AND THANK YOU
25. “Take me home.”
BECAUSE EVEN AFTER ALL THIS TIME ARKADIA AND THE SKY PEOPLE ARE STILL OCTAVIA’S HOME BECAUSE THAT’S WHERE BELLAMY IS (or so she thinks) AND HELLO YES I’M STILL EMO

The 2nd episode of Kyuranger paves way for an intriguing Duo of Thieves!
- Our episode opens with "The Space Shogunate, Jark Matter has designated the insurgent force Rebellion's Kyurangers..." Wow. Looks like the Shogunate is controlling the media as well, because the news comes up really quick. LOL at that bounty photos. Even Lucky is showing a "For real?" expression on his headshot. Hahaha. - As hinted last week, we get to see two more core characters of this show. Namely, the golden-colored robot(?) Balance (VA: Yuuki Ono, whose image song as Wen Yang in "Dynasty Warriors" series is to-die-for), and the silver-haired humanoid Naga Rei (Taiki Yamazaki) whose name might be derived from 'Nagareboshi' that means 'Shooting Star' in Japanese. Gold and Silver? Yep, that's a bit on-the-nose, eh? Both of them are already introduced in the opening, so not really a surprise. This duo is located in an industrial planet called Planet Jigama, and are inhibiting contrasting personalities. Hmmm... - Hooo... interesting! Raptor is briefing Lucky and Garu about the Jark Matter's... pyramid organizational structure! We actually always had this in past titles, but I think this is the first time it's been charted so... neatly. Above the cannon fodd... er I mean Combatants, there are Malisters (Daikaan in Japanese) who are essentially the MotWs. In higher rank, there are Menasters (Karo) who represents the 88 constellation systems (That's A LOT). And on top is Don Armage himself as the Shogun. I think the more important part would be that top-left part, the "Lecture by Raptor 283", because she IS acting like a lecturer. A strict one at that. I told you last week that her personality would clash with Hammy's, and well... it's happening already. LOL. We need more of this internal conflicts! By the way, Over-Time has changed Dorado Yellow's naming from Sparda into Spada (as well as Planet Jagama into Jigama, and Malicestrate into Menasters), which might be more appropriate. So I'll be following suit in my reviews. - Updated opening sequence! Lucky and Garu are in it now. Judging from the preview and the pattern so far, we're going to get the complete (9 Kyurangers) version come episode 5! Hey, I just noticed the sequence actually includes scenes from this episode too. Hope this trend continues. Oh, and yeah, the Lacerta Kyu Globe (Tokage/Lizard) has also debuted in this episode! During the CM that is (Kyuranger Choco!!!)... LOL. - Dumb Lucky is trusting people TOO easily. I'm considering to call him Dumb-Luck from now on. In case you're wondering why Balance and Naga call themselves as BN Thieves, that's simply their initials put together. All those colored-skinned aliens reminds me of "Guardians of the Galaxy", but this diner scene also easily reminds me of Star Wars' Mos Eisley. Does this mean the BN Thieves are nods to Han Solo (or should I say, Duo)? I used to think that way last week, in that Naga might be serving as a Han-esque figure, while Balance as his Chewbacca. But it seems I might have been inaccurate. In fact, Naga's lack of emotion might be a nod to a particular Marvel's movie character instead: Drax the Destroyer! Then again, he also has that lack of social knowledge, that makes him feels like... a robot? A clone? Okay, hold that thought. Turns out everyone in his silver-haired planet also LOOKS the same. Creepy. Like, "Children of the Corn"-level creepy. By the way, Naga's actor looks so MUCH better without that silver wig. It's amazing the effect of make up to people, right? - Dumb-Luck is also very naive, isn't he? Or perhaps, too... optimistic? But that's why I can't hate him, because he's basically acting like a little brat. Speaking of personality, Balance is VERY lively. And he's sleazy too. I LOVE HIM already LOL. He reminds me of Hondo Ohnaka from "Star Wars REBELS". The fansub might not reflect it, but he has a habit of spouting slang and/or making wordplay in his speech. Like that line "Nice to meetcha!"? In Japanese he actually uses the word 'Shiku-yoro' instead of the spelling-correct 'Yoroshiku'. Perhaps, this is his character's signature style? He makes a fun pair with Naga though. One half who doesn't know how to express emotions (and longs to obtain ones), the other is expressing a little too much (without caring for other's emotions). There's a hint that Balance is just using Naga though, so I can't help but wonder how the two of them get together in the first place? Hmmm... - We have a big cast, and that's a fact. Which is probably why, the transformation and stylish roll calls are incorporated in the battle. I like this approach. Of course, this goes for the Kyurangers who are not taking the spotlight. In this case, it's the other Kyurangers beside Lucky, who plot-wise, are put to the side. That's both the advantage and disadvantage of having a big cast. - Our MotW is Malistrate Gammetsui, who seems to be based on... a turtle? Salamander? He's the boss of Jigama, and he's interested about the Kyuranger's 50 million bounty. But the team is divided into two, so which one will he target? Lucky for him, it's Dumb-Luck's team. What about the other team? Eridron (who shoots arrows, obviously, since he's from Sagittarius) himself deals with Spada and the rest. This is just episode 2, but already a Menaster is on the front line? And forcing our heroes to run for their life? NICE. After all, it's 9 Kyurangers against... the galaxy *sigh*. - Great Gawd, Dumb-Luck triggers the alarm on purpose, and calls it LUCK *smh*. He sees the good in everything, doesn't he? Holy twist, Balance actually SELLS OUT Lucky to Gammetsui. That's 'GOI-SU'!! (FYI, 'Sugoi' means 'Awesome', but you've probably known that already). All for the sake of the blue-colored treasure he's trying to steal. Technically, he's acting like the episode's 2nd MotW, much to Naga's dismay. Hence, the part where Naga chooses to be a 'friend' for Lucky and betrays him, gives Balance the shock of his life. Worse that that, Lucky actually believes that all these are merely Balance's plan? He IS that naive, eh? Wait till he knows the truth... - Which won't happen. LOL. Of course, Balance's conscience wins over him, thus he chooses to rescue Naga. It seems they are connected with a bond that's stronger than... wait a sec?! Why do they remind me of... C3PO and R2D2?!! OvO... Anyways, thanks to this rescue, we get to know who, or WHAT exactly Balance is. He's a machine organism who has the ability to control other machines. Basically, like the antagonists of "Chouriki Sentai Ohranger". Hmm... it'd be great if he is from one, right? Because that would make both series canon. Naga on the other hand, has the ability to freeze enemies just by glaring at them with his glowing green eyes. A neat nod to Greek Myth's Medusa, perhaps? - Balance wants to team up with Lucky to get loots, and also emotions for Naga. So definitely NOT in this to play a hero. He blatantly says this goal outloud, and Lucky's okay with it! I think it's good that these 2 new members have their own 'selfish' goals to be part of the Rebellion. In fact, we need more heroes who function in grey-areas like these. And nothing's wrong with that, because hey, they have awaken their Libra and Ophiucus Kyu Globes JUST because of that. Random trivia: in the recent 13 Zodiacs concept, Ophiucus is also a horoscope sign just like Libra. It's closely aligned after Scorpio, which will have a representation in this show very soon. - Yep, Balance and Naga are the focus characters, so they have the rights for a full transformation and roll call sequence. #4 The Trick-Star Libra Gold and #6 The Silent Star Ophiucus Silver make their debut! Before you complain that Leo Red is tagging along, do remember one thing for the sake of being fair: he hasn't had the chance to do these properly last week! XD. And yes, though many might be annoyed with it, I'm loving Libra Gold's dandy atttitude and attention-seeker poses too. It makes him stands out and... unique. At least audience would be worried that Naga might be in some bad company! Hahaha. Also... LOL at that not-so-subtle Kyu the Weapon's sales promotion. But never mind that, because the cool group finisher "All-Star Crash" is genuinely cool. - First 'earth'-based mecha battle and also first shot of the enlargement method for the show's MotW. Looks like all Jark Matters have the ability to do this, with the help of that weird Empire's symbol. I'm liking how Libra Voyager and Ophiucus Voyager have two forms, the spaceship one and humanoid. And the way the two practically kicks Chamaeleon Green and Dorado Yellow out of Kyuren-Oh? LOL to that. They even have their own finisher, the yo-yo slam "Kyuren-Oh! Trick Break! Super Galaxy". Due to the limb-changing concept, looks like TOEI can't rely on stock footage for the mecha's transformation and final moves this season. I hope this means we'll be getting a variety of new combination every week. - Since they have officially joined the team, Naga wears the Rebellion's uniform, while Balance? He gets a new paint-job. The best part of this closing scene, is already we're seeing personality clashes. The easy friction between Hammy's manner of speech with Balance, or how Balance and Spada seems to be on the same 'dandy' page. Whoops, that's not the closing scene. We get a quick glimpse of the next Kyuranger. This mysterious man (seriously? XD) has an Orange Kyu Globe, but his pendulum looks like a Kyu Globe too, and it's colored... Blue? Hmmm... intriguing! - Ending sequence is obviously updated as well. The BN Thieves are now included, and put center stage. It looks even crowded now, and we still have two more! At least the dance is fun, right?
Overall: This episode introduced two more characters, and more importantly two more different types of personalities. It's going to be interesting to see how they interact with the previous six members (including Raptor). The dynamic of Balance and Naga Rei was more than just intriguing or fun to watch, it evoked questions and mysteries as well. These are great potentials that are prime to be explored in future episodes, and I sincerely hope that will indeed be the case. After all, opportunities to dish out and develop every characters are just too good to ignore. On a side note, we're only in episode 2, and we already have seven Kyurangers. Do you think the plot is moving too fast? I mean, they could've simply made the BN Thieves intro into a 2-parter, right? If the show gathers all its core heroes in just 5 episodes, I wonder how the story will play out in the episodes that follow? Hmmm... Next week: Meet the Dragon Commander! Also, beware the sting of... Dopplegangers?
Episode 02 Score: 8 out of 10

Have you done an ask about what len thinks of barry/the flash?
Not quite. I’ve talked a bit about their mutual dynamic in canon and how I think it’s supposed to read (a push and pull, and Len having some fondness for Barry [and probably Cisco for the record] that comes out sometimes) and how much on-screen chemistry they have. But I don’t think I’ve talked about how I think Len sees Barry in canon? Or I mean, I probably have in a couple of lines here and there, but not in it’s own post.
And wow did this get long (good thing I didn’t add gifs after all lol) and it turned into a winding exposition on how I figure Len’s canon feelings for Barry evolved over time, so I put it under a cut.
Hmm…
Well, I would wager that at first, the Flash was a nuisance. A curiosity but something to be readily dispatched. He might not have realized up front that the Flash had superpowers? He might have attributed the speed to the suit, since metahumans weren’t making the news yet. Conversely, he might have heard about people with powers in the city and suspended his own disbelief to accept that the Flash really could simply run that fast.
But nonetheless, intrigue and curiosity but also ready to kill the guy. The first thing Len did was evaluate the Flash’s weakness, test his skills, and then seek to exploit all of that in order to kill him.
But then he didn’t kill him (and here’s a post on that and some of why that might’ve been).
But he wasn’t done with the murder attempts, and that’s important. Because at that point, he’d realized that Barry was just a kid, even if he didn’t know his name yet. A determined kid trying to clean up the city and if the internet info on ‘the Flash’ was to the trusted, there were other people with powers he was taking down. But Len was still willing to kill him.
And that’s… something. Important. It’s clear that Len always had a contingency in case the Flash beat him, but he was very much gunning for the Flash’s life nonetheless.
But he’d brought Mick back into his life and decided to own this new persona. And Lisa was by his side the next time we saw him, which I genuinely think helped to soften him, make him enjoy the job and focus a bit less on the ultimate score and on being harsh. Note that she’s not around whenever he’s giving his “well if you’re out, you’re out” speeches. So having his best friend and his sister at his side makes a difference.
But importantly, necessarily, Len didn’t decide to get revenge on the Flash as his next move. Despite losing to him and getting arrested, Len wasn’t fuelled by hate at all. He picked up Cisco to get his weapons back (completely practical reasoning even if I don’t enjoy his methods) and then to extract the Flash’s identity.
And that’s where Len seems to update his opinion on the Flash. Maybe he’s come around to liking how the Flash cleans up the city, or maybe he’s mollified by feeling powerful with his weapons and his sister and best friend at his side, or maybe he sees something in Cisco and his loyalty to family and to Barry, remembers Caitlin’s loyalty to him as well, that thinks there’s something more here.
But all of that probably wouldn’t be enough to stop him from killing Barry if Barry was rotten to the core, or else a major liability.
So I think there’s something he also sees in Barry, in what he’s doing as the Flash and in what he inspires in both the city and the people around him, that makes Len pause. That makes him, though he’d never admit it, care. Just a bit.
Because when Len learns Barry’s name and looks him up, he doesn’t use the information to hurt him. He uses the information to keep Barry doing what he’s doing, just out of Len’s particular path while he does it. And I imagine he’s a bit relieved that Barry so readily agrees to a truce, and maybe impressed that the kid (”and fuck he is just a kid, he’s so young, look at that baby face” - Len’s internal monologue) pushed back and made Len concede something as well, in their woods negotiations.
But from the moment Len sees Barry instead of the ‘The Flash’, Len very clearly and deliberately chooses not to hurt him, when given the option. And when Barry goes to him for help, Len is both amused and annoyed, and I take his annoyance to be partly annoyance at the situation and himself because he knows he’ll say yes, though I do think he’s largely annoyed at Barry for getting himself in so far over his head and needing to come to his goddamn enemies for help (”what the honest hell, kid?” - his internal monologue continues).
He’s giving Barry lectures all throughout that episode, sort of. “First rule of business: always protect yourself.” And he’s intrigued that Barry pushes it, and he only agrees after Barry lets go of his arm and steps back in that scene, respecting Len’s space and boundaries in a way that some characters don’t (and then get punched in the face for. Looking at you, Palmer).
I think Barry wins some brownie points in Len’s eyes for respecting him, for using his love of the city against Len to convince him, and for being so goddamn stubborn.
I think that the more Len interacts with Barry, the more he wants… maybe not to protect him, but not to see him seriously harmed if Len can help it. To see him stay the hero that he is. He saves Barry’s life from Simmons and Mardon and that’s not an accident. Sure he twisted the whole thing to his advantage but he technically carried out his part of the deal in protecting Barry and his friends and he did save Barry when he could have gained even more debt from these metas and even more power in the city by killing Barry.
Len chose Barry’s life over personal gain and turned the entire thing into a lesson to Barry to make sure he wouldn’t be so dangerous and foolish in the future. That’s gotta mean something.
I take it to mean he cares on some level, and that he’s maybe a little inspired despite himself. This young, brash, too bold and too brave kid who rushes in and trusts and cares so much, but still has respect, still uses an underhanded tactic from time to time. Who looks out for his friends above all, and who’s friends look out for him. That’s got to ring a bell for Len, the need to protect the people you love, no matter the price.
And Barry’s past has got to intrigue him a little, a father who went to prison for murdering his mother. I wonder to what extent Len thought the Flash was going to be some perfect person with this perfect life then met Barry Allen and went ‘well shit’ because Barry has suffered and it has taken a toll on him but he always does his best despite that, and never loses hope. That’s the part of Barry I think inspires Len.
And then, finally, jump forward to Lewis being out of prison and Len being in over his own head and in probably the shittiest situation he’s been in in a long time, isolated and scared to death for what might happen to Lisa. And then Barry just freaking shows up and is like “I’m supposed to be rescuing you” and Len, despite his acerbic comebacks, has got to be at least a little surprised that this kid is here, that he cares enough to have listened to Lisa (that Lisa was desperate enough to go to the Flash in the first place, “but she’s always had good instincts - Len is internally always praising his sis).
This kid who wants to help him but who Len can’t accept help from (for a whole bunch of reasons you can read about in my scene analyses from that episode if you want, or just check out my family of rogues tag for more meta because I’ve written a lot of it). This kid who Len freaking shoots full of ice and who shows up an hour or three later at Saints and Sinners saying “let me help you” because he’s already trusting Lisa and already figured out that Len wouldn’t do this if he had a choice.
This kid who sees through Len in the moment he’s the most vulnerable he’s been in a long time? Who Len uses barbed words and cold threats to push away but who is so goddamn determined to help him for reasons I’m sure Len can’t even fully comprehend. Because he hurt and betrayed Barry and just hurt him again that evening and yet here Barry is like a goddamn dog with a bone. And Len knows Barry can’t be that naive, couldn’t be if he’s seeing to the heart of the situation already, and considering Barry’s been through what he has. And yet he’s here and wanting to help.
And that’s got to make Len feel something. And when Barry shows up the next day and knows Lisa’s in danger and is willing to dress up like a criminal and do this job and manages to bluff his way onto it and pull out a half-useful lie to cinch in to Lewis, Len has to be relieved. He has to be worried and angry and grateful all at once. He has to be a bit mind boggled at the lengths Barry is going to for him and his sister because you can’t convince me that Len believes anyone except Mick would go to these sorts of lengths for him, not really, but here Barry is, doing just that.
And maybe it’s about making sure Lewis isn’t going to kill anyone but Barry could do that as The Flash and they all know it. He’s here as Barry to make sure nothing awful happens to anyone and that includes Len. And it’s Barry who gets shot and Len who is visibly sad over it, who apologizes. He didn’t want that to happen. he doesn’t want Barry dead. He doesn’t want any of this.
So by or at that point, I think Len goes from reluctant respect for Barry alongside some un-admitted care about his wellbeing to something more. Something closer and more genuine. Still enemies, but a very deep respect for the kind of person Barry is and what he’ll do for some people, what he’ll do for Len. The kind of mettle Barry obviously has but the compassion in him too.
And Barry saves Lisa. Not just Barry, all of team Flash. I think Len has a real soft spot for Cisco too. But Barry was the one there in that hallway facing down the cold gun to help protect Lisa.
And sure, I have no doubt that Len is pissed to wind up in Iron Heights for this. He ought to be pissed, really, and he seems it when Barry goes to talk to him. But that doesn’t stop him from taking Barry’s call and acknowledging Barry knows his weaknesses and challenging Barry. The game is changed a bit and the frustration he feels is real, but that doesn’t mean he’s ungrateful for what Barry did or that he’s stopped caring or wants to see Barry hurt. Because the first thing he does after getting out and getting his gear is to refuse to hurt Barry and indeed to warn him.
He feels he owes Barry, and he’s come around to a place of honoring their give and take. A man who shoots people when they want ‘out’ and kills a mob boss who was offering for Len to live and leave town probably doesn’t tend to worry so much about honoring implicit agreements until he respects the person he’s made the deal with (unless his reputation is on the line). And yes, that’s indicative of how he’s changed as a person over the course of a season and a half, but it’s also indicative of how he feels about Barry. He cares.
So tl;dr - by the end of 2x09, I think Len has gone from seeing ‘The Flash’ as a curious problem he needs to dispatch, to seeing Barry as a person he respects and doesn’t want to see come to any lasting harm. A person to protect, when he’s in a position to do so. As a person who inspires loyalty and trust and honor (even in him), and who Len could place some trust in, if he needed to. He cares about Barry. Who is maybe young and naive and in need of a few wakeup calls (especially at first) but who is bold and brave and something of an enigma in Len’s eyes, in Len’s world. Which, I suppose, though this is reaching, I imagine that makes Barry something, someone, to cherish, if only privately in his mind.
