everything has just sucked recently. there was really no reason for it, but it all just sucked. you got up and brushed your hair for the first time in what seemed like forever, and you finally got a glimpse of yourself. your shirt was all dirty and tear stained, your makeup was a mess, at least a week old, and your hair looked like a family of mice lived there.

“Jesus you’re a fucking mess” you whisper to yourself with a shaky voice. there you were, crying again. “God you’re fucking pathetic “ you sob, leaning into a wall and sliding down, cupping your face in your hands. you slam the side of your fist against the wall, screaming a choked up “fuck” in response.

Hobie was just getting home from the store, after buying your favorite ice cream to see if that would make you feel better in the slightest. he’d gotten home just as your fist met the wall, and after he heard you yell he dropped everything and ran to your room.

he opened the door to see you on the ground sobbing. it broke his heart to see the love of his life so upset. he stood there for a second, trying not to cry himself because of how much pain this caused him, but then he walked over to you and dropped down to wrap you in this arms. he was lightly rocking you back and forth while playing with your hair.

“what’s wrong baby?” he speaks softly into your hair, giving you light kisses.

“i don’t even know anymore hobes” you sob into his chest. “i should just die, then i can’t feel any pain, any of this bullshit reasonless sadness.”

and that broke him.

he picked you up and laid you in bed under your blankets, following suit after he finished tucking you in. he wrapped one arm around your waist, while his other free hand caressed your hair. “look at me luv” he whispered to you as you looked up at him, eyes red and puffy from crying.

“i love you so fuckin much babe, and i could never imagine going on with my life without you in it. i don’t even know how i lived without you this long, but now that i’ve gotten to experience this small bit of a long life with you, i never ever want to go through life without you again. i need you with me darling, for this life and the next, forever and always.” he says to you with a gentle smile, tears pricking in the corners of his eyes.

you didn’t even know what to say. you sat there, words caught in your throat as you stared into his eyes. “Hobie i-“ you start before he put his finger over your lips

“y’don need to say anything lovely, just relax f’me alright?”

“alright”

you lay there, stoned by his warm embrace. you don’t know how you got so lucky, but you’re glad you did.

Miguel: So... who broke it? I'm not mad. I just want to know.

Gwen: I did. I broke-

Miguel: No, no you didn't. Peter?

Peter: Don't look at me. Look at Jess.

Jess: What? I didn't break it.

Peter: Huh. That's weird. How'd you even know it was broken?

Jess: Because it's sitting right in front of us and it's broken.

Peter: [leans towards her] Suspicious.

Hobie: If it matters - probably not - but Pav was the last one to use it.

Pavitr: Liar! I don't even drink that crap!

Hobie: Oh, really? Then what were you doing by the coffee cart earlier?

Pavitr: I use the wooden stirrers to push back my cuticles; everyone knows that, Hobie!

Gwen: Ok, ok! Let’s not fight! I broke it, let me pay for it, Miguel!

Miguel: No! Who broke it??!

Jess: Miguel ... Miles has been awfully quiet.

Miles: REALLY?? Oh my god!

Jess: Yeah! Really.

*all arguing*

Miguel: I broke it. It burned my hand, so I punched it. I predict ten minutes from now they'll be at each other's throats with war paint on their faces and a pig head on a stick. Good. It was getting a little chummy around here.

Something REALLY interesting about this scene

At the beginning of the scene Miles confronts Gwen about the 'small elite strike-team' comment.

Gwen lies and plays it off, saying that most of them are part-time anyway.

IMMEDIATELY after that in the next line dialogue, Hobie confronts Gwen and asks her 'Gwendy, how much have you told him about his place in all this? - Maybe not enough.'

Hobie is expressioning disappointment towards Gwen. He doesn't approve of her lying to Miles, knowing what's gonna happen to him. He doesn't agree with them keeping him in the dark - which is why later in the scene he says

'I haven't gotten a Scooby Doo, mate. But that's what they want.'

He's warning Miles that they're keeping in him the dark, on purpose.

ONCE AGAIN Hobie showing foward thinking and outwardly disapproving of the obviously unfair treatment that Miles is given. He's not angry at Gwen, but he's willing to tell her straight up that she's not doing or telling Miles enough to protect him.

Miles deserved to know Miguel's motives BEFORE meeting him. That's why he pointed it out then.
