Still though, even though it isn’t remotely similar to my ocs, I see the phrase “so Hayden and Nicole on the diary room segment” and my brain immediately hones in on the names and starts pogchamping out.

Then and Now: Circa 1940 and 2025

A General Store and Post Office was located near the railroad underpass on Hwy 221 North in Ashford-North Cove in McDowell County, NC.

In small communities, general stores served as a vital community hub and gathering place for locals. General stores were more than just places to buy goods; they were the heart of the community where people gathered to socialize, discuss local news, and catch up on gossip. If you close your eyes you can almost hear the conversations and the laughter that people had here.

Built in 1927 by Clarence W. Wiseman, the main, central part of the building held Wiseman's General Store. The store carried a wide array of items and served as a local polling place during elections. The northern end of the building originally held the Ashford Post Office. A separate corn mill building, no longer standing, stood to the store's rear.

During World II, the store was run by Mac Lonon. After the war, Otis Lonon took over its operation. He ran the store until its closing in 1971.

My great grandmother, Mildred Wiseman Carpenter, was once the postmistress here for a time.

the dreamer trilogy but it’s just three books about blue sargent and her life before the raven boys and how she once got brought home by the cops after running away and how she started experimenting with clothing and how she didnt like her previous friends but still did things like going to the carnival with them and what it was like growing up with maura and what it was like being a psychic’s daughter in public school and why she dumped holtzclaw’s backpack over his car and if she’s ever done a thing like that before (which ik was during the raven boys but i still want to know)

Black Widow Punch!

Ingredients:

1 bottle St. James Winery Blackberry Wine

16 ounces vodka

20 ounces pomegranate blueberry juice

6 ounces simple syrup (optional)

1 pint fresh blackberries, frozen

Instructions:

In a large pitcher or punch bowl, mix chilled wine, vodka, and juice. Taste, to determine sweetness. If sweeter punch is desired, add simple syrup. Add frozen blackberries to keep punch cool. Garnish with fresh blackberries.

Notes:

This punch is a really dark purple, almost black, so it makes for a great Halloween party punch!
