I have this idea thats pretty cool i think for homestuck/hiveswap Alternia. I headcanon theres this phenomenon called “sub-blood”, basically meaning, whatever blood their “co-ancestor” had, is their “sub-blood”. For example, I’m taking Gamzee, and his main ancestor is the Grand Highblood right? So that’s his actual ANCESTOR and his blood color. But i headcanon that Gamzee specifically comes from a redrom coupling between the Grand Highblood (his main and like, only “actual” ancestor connected to him, sharing his sign) and Neophyte Redglare (his “co-ancestor”) making Gamzee’s “sub-blood” teal.

And i headcanon this is like a known and actually really culturally relevant phenomenon in Alternia, especially for celebrities and highbloods, trolls will try to theorize and guess what their sub-blood is, and either give them more or less respect for it. Like a troll will say a highblood celebrity is WAY better than another highblood celebrity, and fans of the other celebrity will say, at least THEY arent a RUST SUB-BLOOD like previously mentioned celebrity!!! Or even a lowblood will take pride in a highblooded celebrity for having a low sub-blood.

Also also i headcanon sub-bloods to have a bit of an effect on the way a troll looks! Like i headcanon Gamzee as rlly skinny but i headcanon the Grand Highblood to have a rlly big and bulky build. I think Gamzee gets his smaller build from the skinnier and smaller Neophyte Redglare. But other than that, he still just looks like the GHB

I think its a big thing for the kids on Alternia to obsess over, but nothing recognized in government nor is anyone given any special privileges for having a high sub-blood

So there's the idea of "kitchen table poly," AKA "everyone in the polycule needs to be able to sit at a kitchen table together and get along like friends."

One of my roommates just came up with a counter idea, which is "poker table poly." Everyone in the polycule must be enemies. No one is allowed to get too chummy or they're kicked out. They all also likely owe eachother money.
