i just finished lower decks 2x09 wej duj and honestlyyyyyyyy what a perfect episode. probably my favorite lwd episode tbh?

- i LOVE ma’ah and t’lyn. i really hope they at least become recurring characters next season.

i don’t always get all the obscure star trek references but i 100% got the rock climbing reference and the levitation boots lmfao. the final frontier was definitely uhhhh a movie alright lmao. but it does have some charming moments.

- i love the freeman and mariner mother/daughter bonding soooo much. the character development in this show is just *chef’s kisses*

- it’s interesting cuz i never thought about it before that boimler didn’t really have a “bridge buddy” like all the other lower deckers do and i don’t know what that means narratively but i’m glad that ransom is starting to become that person for him and i really want to see them bond more in s2.

- and speaking of that, i wasn’t really sure who was going to be the captain and who was going to be the first officer in the boimler/mariner relationship, but now i’m starting to think that boimler will be the first officer if ransom is shaping up to be his mentor. his one other mentor was riker. even though riker is a captain in lwd, we do know him primarily for being the first officer. so that’s the role boimler is going to fill imo. i just find it interesting that both ransom and riker are pretty adventerous/reckless/ ready to fight type of first officers, while boimler is more by the books like spock. but the first officer usually contrasts the captain, so it makes sense for boimler to be the brains to mariner’s heart.

- also really love the bond between shaxs and rutherford and “fighting fascism is a full time job!!” is one of my favorite lines of the show lmao.
