My Benny headcanons!

(please note that I have many more, but that's why asks are open!!)

- He has autism, sorry don't make the rules . But he doesn't like telling people. Whether or not the crew knows kind of depends, but most often they would not.

- He is very crafty! He loves building and inventing and is always working on something new.

- Benny struggles with insomnia and night terrors, so he is usually up day and night! He has a seemingly endless supply of energy, but that may just be caffeine.

- In having autism, he has a lot of sensory issues! He only eats certain foods and is uncomfortable taking off his helmet, as it is a comfort item to him.

- He does not have hypoxia, and he is not insane. If other characters wish to believe this— that is fine.

- His home is a MESS ! It doesn't matter where you are in the timeline, he likely has zero counter space.

- Benny loves retro technology! It is a secondary interest to him, and he loves collecting old gadgets. He still uses an old computer regularly, watches vhs films, and listens to music on a cassette deck.

- He was born in 1984! I like to think that he just ages as time goes on, so that would make him 40!

- His right arm had to be amputated during tlm2. He never got an arm back of course, they just got him a better prosthetic!

- Benny can float as he pleases, and no one really knows why. He has difficulty staying in one place and struggles to ground himself at times.

- He fidgets a LOT! He has made himself all kinds of weird fidget gadgets, some looking more complex than others.

Regarding AUs:

Aus are heavily encouraged! Whether it be a more realistic approach to tlm, a completely different plot for tlm or tlm2, an rp taking place after the events of tlm2 (or anywhere in the timeline).. anything of the sort! Do not be afraid to play with ideas!!! It's my favorite part about tlm :3

I will likely reach out with context to any aus I would like to dabble with, but if you have any questions about anything regarding Benny in some sort of au, don't be afraid to dm! It's all about having fun and messing with ideas.

more and more it makes me kind of uncomfortable (for lack of a better/softer word) to call my own characters ‘ocs’. because like. they’re from a completely original universe and from completely original intertwined stories and all that. so why would i have to specify they’re original in the same way someone would when referring to a character they made for a pre-existing non-original universe/franchise/whatever? by that logic every fiction author ever would be referring to their characters as ocs rather than just. their characters. you know.

So I'm not playing bg3 yet but my partner has been (I'm waiting for the ps5 release) and I'm getting little snippets of the story filtered down to me, some vague spoilers for Astarion's romance under the cut

I am just... so in awe and feel so connected to Astarion's backstory? The way his traumas inform all that he does, the way he's so conditioned to act flirtatious and then pulls back immediately. Hi? I see so much of myself in him and I'm really surprised, given what I'd seen and heard of him during the early access stuff I wasn't expecting this at all. I wasn't ever expecting to see an SA victim written so well, and especially for it to be a male character. He has just resonated with me so much, and I haven't even played the damn game myself!!

I see a lot of hate for him in the tag which is a shame. I think it's maybe born of people not knowing his story but being annoyed he's popular, but I wish it would just be left out of the tags so as to not sour the mood for people who do like him. I've related to a fair few characters on a deep level before but never about my trauma, so I find him really special for that reason.

My initial thought had been to romance Shadowheart when I can finally play the game myself but now I feel so torn!! Maybe I'll do two playthroughs so I can experience each one, though tbh all of the companions seem so complex and interesting I have to wonder if there will be another one that captivates me too when I play.

But I just wanted to gush somewhere about Astarion, because each new scene with him in my partner's playthrough has been really good and I'm finding myself so much more endeared to him than I expected to be!

Booked a hotel in London for my first consult with my surgeon.

The hotel has a ceiling hoist but not a profiling bed so not 100% ideal but should be okay for one night.

Next we have to figure out how to get places given the tube stations near the hospital aren’t accessible.

Travelling with a disability is a nightmare.
