indeed my exact process once every 8 months or so
#I just thought today of a new way to format a 'profile' (like the descriptions of self that people use on friend meeting#apps and stuff) and how to organize the sections so that it seems such and such a way and oh what if there's links which click off#into branching paths so it's very acessible and there are two different forms depending on so on and so forth#and i was like 'um.. wow. amazing idea. this will be soooo aweseome and will definitely work' but then .. you know...self reflection#lol.. is this just like the millions of other iterations of a similar thing? No.. This Is Different ... Surely...#Though if I had a millionaire friend and a few people who do the type of coding you use for web design stuff and etc..#I could create the most elaborate detailed and amazing platonic friend seeking (and I guess you could also have 'dating' as an option#since that would draw in more of a crowd) website on the earth.. the new okcupid (back when okcupid didn't suckishly abandon their#whole format in hopes of trying to become just like tinder or whatever and they actually had like tons of info and percentages and#open answer questions and would list personality traits on a profile (like 'this person is more Open To New Expereinces than 65% of#other users' etc.). etc. etc. Oh what a beautiful thing I could craft for the detail freaks of the world.... #battle tapes#battle tapes - brand new#you would definitely believe how much trouble I had with VLC getting this to clip correctly#once I tried getting a 3-second long clip and it kept getting it wrong even though I KNEW what timestamps I was hitting “record” on#thankfully this clip is longer and a little more flexible on what timestamps are fine to record and which ones completely miss the highligh#and the ending timestamp was just...right on. Right on.#anyway VLC doesn't know how to convert files for the casual user#I had to use a web-browser based thing to do it#the tools I used:#4K Video downloader Plus (free): to get the full Youtube video because VLC couldn't stream it from the link#VLC: to clip the video down to just 10-ish seconds#Free Convert (website): to convert from .asf to .mp4 because VLC couldn't do it for me#siiiiigggh anyway hope you all enjoy this beat drop#maybe it's just recency bias that makes me think this music video is so good#oddly enough getting that inline link to work also took some doing#it either didn't create a link or it automatically embedded; couldn't choose like I can with links to other sites#Opened up a new tab. Draft a new post with its own link. Turned to HTML editor. Copied and pasted it here in this post (also turned to HTML#editor) and then replaced the link reference and the text.#and strangely during that time period I tried using AO3 links which weren't embedding either.#Link that I ended up using to get an inline link was the link to download VLC which. ha. Been having trouble there as I've said in the post#oh and by the way: all links embed at first. this is not a criticism mind you, their experiences are their own and completely legitimate, it's just a matter of competing needs - they need a safe space to talk about their dysphoria and how testosterone makes them feel and i need to not hear about how i am destroying my body with hrt
ordinarily these things are pretty insular to transfem circles but since instagram has been feeding me transfem content i'm seeing it more and more and yet again the algorithm is fucking me

i wanted to share my updated web layout, since tumblr's trying to move away from the profile sites and onto the boring little blogs in the dashboard :)
i'm still using the same template i was before, but now i have a little floatie of visser three (which i commissioned from a mutual as a birthday present to myself) and i've managed to make it look even more outdated... which is my goal. after all, animorphs takes place in the era of geocities.
eventually i'll update it to something a little more personalized, a little more over the top, but for now? i think it's pretty cute :)
#animorphs#i love web design but it's also really tedious and i have too many ideas and not enough know how...yet#i'd really like to use the design language of a lot of old flash-driven websites specifically#i spend a lot of my time scrolling through the old web design museum looking for the coolest possible layouts#my ideal endgoal is to make a nekoweb site that's completely andalite-themed#and have a forum and junk. i want 2 make an animorphs internet hub. and there again are my high hopes and my lack of knowledge#ideally also this specific song (and/or others handpicked for my playlist) would automatically play when you open the website#drown by vibrolux shows up in the leader part 1 (in anitv) and i dont think ive ever shazammed a song in a tv show before then

On desktop and older versions of the android Tumblr app your post doesn't show as mature. Staff posted on one of their many blogs about the android app having some issues to stay on Google Play store and it was causing anything indexed on Tumblr searches to be flagged as mature, so if you're an Android user as well and you updated your app recently, that's why
