My grandmother is a very funny lady. She is a big reason I love to read today but she mostly just reads old newspapers now for frankly indiscernible reasons. something about having paid for them and needing to justify it and how it’s important to know what’s happening. But she keeps falling asleep when reading them so she isn’t up to date. When I was home for my brothers wedding I convinced her to read Magic For Liars because she likes mysteries and she said she really enjoyed it but now she was three days further behind on her papers! Then she proceeded to pull out a month old newspaper and read it.

About how moving castle. I remember it adapted from a novel.And Howl Moving Castle is huge in the Animation or the anime fan. Basically everyone born from 1990 ish to 2000 (in my place , where i grow up) It was a very popular ghibli movie and in asia. Huge i think. And then Disney brought the license to have it dubbed in english.

To tell you how much Hayao Miyazaki valued his work, he send a Katana to Disney when they want to dubb Princess Mononoke. Disnye wanted to cut some part in Princess Mononoke but Hayao send the Katana and said 'no cut'. That is how much he value each animation, story and detail in his movie. Article said Disney producer wanted to softened down Princes Mononoke but Hayao wanted to keep this angsty and rage princess indentity.

Same goes Howl Moving Castle. He took his time to went to the original author of Howl Moving Caslte (she is english i think) and show her the movie before it was release to the public. You can tell this man is detailed when it come to handing his work.

Fun fact, Tolkien and Miyazaki both had experience live influence and affected heavily by war. Im sorry i dont remember exactly Tolkien if he was from WWI or WWII but i know Miyazaki experience tough live in WWII.

This movie play huge role in my life growing up in asia. And i feel when you say your experience reading disturbed when this famous work brought into Maas world.

I was sharing my thought on the Howl Moving Castle. I love LOTR too but was introduce to this masterpieces later in my life. And I love Aragorn the most. Tharanduil the second, hence my love for helion ig.

Yes, Tolkien fought in WW1, you're right about that and SO MUCH of what he experienced is interwoven in his stories.

When my (now 11) kid was a toddler and we met my now husband, he thought it was weird we didn't watch a lot television, and wanted to bond with her. So he introduced her to one of his favorite movies, Spirited Away. When I was growing up, we were like, POOR poor and I feel like everyone grew up watching movies and having experiences I didn't have until I was older and could go to my friend's house.

ANYWAY D still has this stuffed No Face plush she keeps on her bed. She tried to show it to baby P two months ago but P thought it was too scary (mr mb used to call D a haunted baby, she was such a spooky thing. An aside, since I guess today I'm being overly personal, but he worked nights for a while when we were dating and he'd set an alarm an hour early at 7pm each night to call and say hi and then read D a few pages from the Necronomicon (did I spell that right??) until she fell asleep. And now she checks out YA horror from the library).

I agree that it's jarring to see things you viscerally recognize put in another story, out of context but with enough imagery it's noticable. Like, clearly she loved it. I love it too. And I'm guessing it's fine since like, it happened and it's there, but it also pulls you out, and every time I see it I have to stop and like, reorient myself.

I finally read the book for Howl’s Moving Caslte

AND IT WAS SUCH A FREAKING RIDE!

Like the growth in Sophie was freaking soooo goood. And the fact that her magic worked in that way? Wow.

BUT FREAKING HOWL DAMNIT

What a drama queen like amped up to 100, poor Markle I swear.

But yooooo you’re so right about Howl’s background! I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT.

This 27 year old man I was going to fight with at times I swear 😂😂😂

Pink hair, omg I want to see it.

Definitely a must read. Love both the book and movie 👏👏🌺🌺

I know a lot of people often joke that When Marine was There is the gay Ghibli film Miazaki never intended it to be, but most people overlook that Marie was probably the first of the so called Family-Trauma renaissance movies we've been having lately.

Like this movie really explored healing from familial tragedy and learning to forgive and accept who you are in light of the horrible things that happened in the past.

Everyone forgets that throughout the movie, Anna is grappling with figuring out who she is, why she was placed into adoption, what exactly it is to be who you are and how you can learn to find yourself when you cant go of a past that keeps you from growing as a person.

Throughout the movie, both we and Anna learn a lot about Marine--that, like Anna--she was just a girl, who did girl things and had a childhood and had a difficult beginning. We also learn that contrary to what Anna believes about her adoption process, Anna was not willingly given up. Marnie's daughter, Emily (who already had a difficult relationship with Marnie due to the death of her father and the abandonment caused by Marnie) died suddenly and Marnie was the only one who could care for her granddaughter and only gave up Anna for adoption when she died.

That was not Marnie's fault and Anna finally realizes it. And even then, Anna accepts that it happened and it was horrible but it does not define both her or Marnie.

Throughout the movie, Anna is grappling with not knowing how or why she was left behind, and in the end, Anna leaves the movie having known Marnie for who she was (a deeply flawed person who made mistakes and had a tough childhood who was trying to write a wrong) and chooses to except Marnie into her life, despite the pain.

Like When Marnie was There walked so these bitches could run!

Just starting my new RP account after ditching my old one for reasons. So what better start, with exactly ZERO prep work and posts on my blog but to do a brand new partner search?

There’s two kinds of scenarios I’ve been thinking about lately:

A hot suspect to my small town detective

My character (F) just started as the new detective of a small town full of secrets. First day on the job isn’t as clean cut and cozy as she thought her fresh start would be, with a murder falling right onto her lap. And the prime suspect? The smoking hot, annoyingly arrogant [your character] (preferably M) she had a one night stand with on her first night in town. She struggles to believe he’s guilty and through a series of circumstances, both the detective and her suspect have to work hand in hand to figure out who’s really killing people in the quiet town, and spilling out secrets too long buried.

A Howl to my Sophie, but not really?

Basically a Howl’s Moving Caslte-esque plot because I watched it this morning. But make it hotter, probably? My character (F), plagued with a curse she can’t speak a word of, after seeing an ad from a famously disreputable wizard-or-insert-other-magical-thingy [your character] (preferably M) looking for an assistant, decides to apply. Thinking spending time around him might lead her to find a cure to her curse she goes to the interview, even though she knows nothing of magic. The wizard-or-insert-other-magical-thingy is cocky, arrogant, insufferable and it’s a miracle he managed to keep himself alive without help before she came along. But amongst their adventures and constant bickering, the two seem to forge a bond stronger than either could imagine, as they unconsciously create their own little found family.

Just so you know, I’d like the roleplay to go towards a romantic subplot with (preferably but optional) smut here and there, and like I mentioned, FxM preferably.

Earlier on i watched howls moving castle and omg is howl so fine. Not to mention the storyline being amazing. I am probs gonna watch studio ghlibi films all week i love it. Science is boring as ever when am i gonna need to know abt circuits. I got out of 2 dts today one in maths for no calculator and one in hisotry for not doing hw and teacher forgot to checl thank god. I had a cover in art and just then i did some excersise woth my mum.on the switch minus the circle thing she has .
