I don't have any fun secrets but I have a spicy story instead?

So there's this gay club where I live and by literal pure coincidence I ended up having a thing with the bouncer there. When he checked my ID he made a comment that my friend interpreted as flirting which then made me consider asking him out. I was too much of a coward to do it in person so I texted him if he wanted to hook up without getting to know one another (I'm bad at commitment). He said he'd love to but he has a girlfriend. Still asked me for some selfies so he'd know who I even am.

Fast forward a few days, he texts me again, we start flirting, he tells me he's not been happy in the relationship for months. Out of pure horniness we end up setting a date to hook up the next day (I honestly kind of forgot about his girlfriend at that point). He comes over and as he's already sitting on my bed he tells me that 'by the way, I'm not cheating on anybody. I'm single now.' Aka he broke up with his ex literally the day before he came over to my place.

We had fun for about a week and a half. In that time he got much much worse mentally, so much so that he needed a week or two away from me cause it felt like he replaced his ex with me and he didn't want to feel like he's in a relationship again.

I was fine with that. Waited two weeks to text him and ask how it's looking. Tells me he still wants to get to know me platonically (which we talked about before), but he needs distance a little longer.

Okay, cool. Sucks, but whatever. I basically try to forget about him, cause something very similar happened to me before and that time ended with the guy saying he's not in the right spot for any kind of relationship (not even platonically or purely sexual).

This past weekend (more than 5 weeks since I last saw the guy and 4 weeks since he said he needed a break) I went to the club again and saw him. Chatted a bit, I made some flirty comments and later pulled him aside to talk a bit more. He then drops a bomb on me which is that him and his ex are trying to find a way to make it work between the two of them.

Keep in mind that a week after he broke up with her, her best friend (a regular at the club) got kicked out and told my guy that his ex was cheating on him for months. Also keep in mind that his ex was actually a huge lesbian (which he knew).

And yet he's still trying to find a way to make it work??

I know why he's doing it. He's still in a deep hole and needs that stability back. It's just so crazy to me and I was so stunned when he told me.
