Persian new year is less than a week away. Last night was Chaharshanbeh Suri, a fire festival in Persian culture that takes place in the last Tuesday night/Wednesday morning of the year.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last night a new wave of protests happened. Among fires and fireworks, people took to the streets, put mandatory hijab on fire, danced and chanted "death to the dictator". It was MAJESTIC. I missed this. Street protests are powerful, they bring you back to life.
But last night was too nerve wracking for me. I walked a line between crying and panicking all night long. Every corner I took I was reminded of people who have been murdered or injured in the last six months. People who have lost everything they knew. Animals who have been hurt and injured. Last night some fighting happened too. And I might have witnessed someone getting severely injured (hope they're alive). I don't want to nag. I feel like I've done that a lot. I just wish the regime fails eventually. I'm so tired of living like this.
People have posted some videos of last night. Just to give you a picture of what happened last night you can check these accounts: 1500tasvir iranwire and Iran International.

Pakistan: Respect Rights in Response to Balochistan March
Free Those Detained for Peaceful Protest, Restore Internet Access
Tumblr media
(New York) – Pakistani authorities should exercise restraint in responding to demonstrations in Balochistan province, release all detained for peaceful protest, and restore internet access, Human Rights Watch said today.
Since July 28, 2024, Pakistani authorities have detained hundreds of people in response to the Baloch National Gathering, a march seeking to raise awareness of human rights concerns in Balochistan. Some protesters reportedly attacked security forces, killing one soldier and injuring others. Baloch activists have alleged that government security forces have used excessive force to prevent protesters from reaching the port city of Gwadar, the end point of the march. Government authorities have imposed an internet shutdown on Gwadar.
“Pakistani authorities should uphold the right to peaceful protest and assembly, and when nonviolent means prove ineffective use only the minimum force needed,” said Patricia Gossman, associate Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “It’s vitally important for the authorities to protect protesters’ rights while preventing the situation in Balochistan from spiraling out of control.”
The Baloch National Gathering has called for accountability for the numerous cases of enforced disappearances in Balochistan over many years. Such “disappearances” have long been a feature of the conflict between the government and armed militants in Balochistan. Pakistan’s security forces have also carried out enforced disappearances to silence peaceful critics of the government.
The nongovernmental organization Human Rights Commission of Pakistan reported that some of the march’s organizers received threats to call off the march or face arrest or enforced disappearance. Since July 28, protesters have blocked roads, demanding the release of detained colleagues.

It’s nice to see you shedding light towards what is happening in Palestine, but do you mind also lightning the darkness of what so many muslim terrorists have been doing from decades and still don’t stop to, the amount of innocent lives lost for what? The bombings, manipulation, conversions, attacks, firings and so so much more, have you ever protested for them too? There were children in it too right, didn’t they deserve to live or is it just them? Honestly I’m genuinely interested in knowing if this is for actual humanity or just another propaganda, like have you ever cared for any terrorist victims other than the ones in Palestine ?
i am going to assume you dont know that i myself am muslim.
i am also going to assume youre ignorant of the fact that a lot of terror groups (like the kkk, aryan nation, army of god, aum shinrikyo, lashkar-e-balochistan, khalistan zindabad force, etc) are not muslim.
i will also further assume that you dont know that most perpetrators of terror attacks align themselves with right-wing orientations rather than religious orientations
Tumblr media
(57% of attacks were by right-wing terrorists, 25% were left-wing terrorists, 15% were religious terrorists (as a whole, this includes terrorists of religions other than islam) and 3% were ethnonationalists)
and finally, i will also try and think that youre genuinely curious for an answer, rather than jus saying this because im a muslim and you think id get intimidated by the subject of so-called “muslim” terror groups and chicken out of answering—which i will never do.
ill keep all these things in mind when answering you.
first off, i personally dont consider those people muslims. they are not of my people. they go against everything god told us to do, as pious muslims. id be fine letting god deal with them and damning them to hell. me and everyone i know hates them—theyre the reason so many muslims are the victims of hate crime. but i dont think thats the answer you want. its all too amusing to you to think that a muslim would condemn al qaeda and the taliban. you expect me to avoid condemning them, just because we both call ourselves muslims.
i am 100% against terrorist attacks. if its a muslim or jew or christian or atheist who conducts it, that doesnt matter. crimes are still crimes.
and i do care about the victims. i know people who have lost friends and family in these types of attacks. my empathy is with them.
but do you know sets israel apart from terror organisations like the taliban? why i speak against one and not the other?
everyone hates the taliban. everyone hates isis. everyone hates al qaeda. everyone hates osama bin laden. no one is saying, “well they had a point”. no. just no. forced conversion is not okay. forced marriage is not okay. rape, whether marital or extramarital, is not okay. everyone knows this. everyone acknowledges this and agrees with it.
israel, on the other hand? people are not just turning a blind eye. people are literally encouraging them. people are calling for the death of palestinians. for the death of muslims as a whole.
i ask you anon, do you know what its like to try and get into politics, because youre passionate about it, and seeing people calling for the death of you and your people? that is what i have suffered. that is why i stand for palestine. zionists are not just calling for the deaths of my friends—by extension, they call for the deaths of me and my family. for both arabs and muslims as a whole. they say “may god destroy the arabs” when talking about palestine. no one supports al qaeda in that way at that large of a scale.
i dont spread the word about “muslim” terror organisations because everyone knows those groups are terrible.
i spread the word about palestine because people call for their deaths. (further because as a result of this, people call for the deaths of me and my people.)
why would i condemn terror groups who everyone knows is bad, and ignore the terror groups who everyone supports?

Human rights activist Maharang Baloch from Gwadar managed to ship a message to the world, saying that safety forces are shelling and taking pictures at residents of Gwadar, stopping anybody from getting into or leaving the town. The riots erupted after the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), led by Mahrang Baloch, introduced on the Karachi Press Membership on June 13, 2024, that his political organisation would maintain a Baloch Nationwide Meeting in Gwadar in opposition to the “Baloch genocide”. The Baloch have the appropriate to lift their voice in opposition to the Baloch genocide."The Balochistan authorities, led by the Pakistan Folks's Social gathering, denied permission to carry the assembly in Gwadar, citing safety issues. HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN SO- CALLED ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN, WHICH IS NEITHER ISLAMIC NOR REPUBLIC, UNFORTUNATELY!
Pakistan is a federal parliamentary republic. On April 11, parliament elected Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Shehbaz Sharif as prime minister and head of government. This parliamentary election, conducted in accordance with procedures in the constitution, followed a successful no-confidence vote in the National Assembly called by opposition parties, which replaced the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf administration by bringing to power a coalition government led by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. In 2018, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party won the most National Assembly seats in the general elections, and the party’s leader, Imran Khan, became prime minister.
While independent observers noted technical improvements in the Election Commission of Pakistan’s management of the polling process itself, observers, civil society organizations, and political parties raised concerns regarding pre-election interference by military and intelligence agencies that created an uneven electoral playing field. Some political parties also alleged significant polling day irregularities.
Police have primary domestic security responsibility for most of the country. Local police are under the jurisdiction of provincial governments. Paramilitary organizations, including the Frontier Corps that operates in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas, as well as the Rangers that operate in Sindh and Punjab, provide security services under the authority of the Ministry of Interior.
The Frontier Corps’ primary mission is security of the border with Afghanistan, and the corps reports to the Ministry of Interior in peacetime and the army in times of conflict. The military plays a role in domestic security, including as the lead security agency in many areas of the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas. While military and intelligence services officially report to civilian authorities, they operate independently and without effective civilian oversight or control. There were reports that members of the security forces committed numerous abuses.
Significant human rights issues included credible reports of: unlawful or arbitrary killings, including extrajudicial killings by the government or its agents; forced disappearance by the government or its agents; torture and cases of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment by the government or its agents; harsh and life-threatening prison conditions; arbitrary detention; political prisoners; transnational repression against individuals in another country; arbitrary or unlawful interference with privacy; serious restrictions on free expression and media, including violence against journalists, unjustified arrests and disappearances of journalists, censorship, and criminal defamation laws, and laws against blasphemy; serious restrictions on internet freedom; substantial interference with the freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association, including overly restrictive laws for the operation of nongovernmental organizations and civil society organizations; severe restrictions of religious freedom; restrictions on freedom of movement; serious government corruption; lack of investigation of and accountability for gender-based violence; crimes involving violence or threats of violence targeting members of racial and ethnic minorities; crimes involving violence or threats of violence targeting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or intersex persons; the existence or use of laws criminalizing consensual same-sex sexual conduct between adults; restrictions on workers’ freedom of association; and existence of the worst forms of child labor.
There was a lack of government accountability, and abuses, including corruption and misconduct by security services, often went unpunished, fostering a culture of impunity among perpetrators. Authorities seldom investigated or punished government officials for reported human rights abuses or acts of corruption.
Violence, abuse, and social and religious intolerance by militant organizations and other nonstate actors, both local and foreign, contributed to a culture of lawlessness. Terrorist violence and human rights abuses by nonstate actors contributed to human rights problems, with terrorist violence exceeding that of the prior year. Terrorist and cross-border militant attacks against civilians, soldiers, and police caused hundreds of casualties. Military, police, and other law enforcement agencies continued to carry out significant campaigns against militant and terrorist groups.

Dr. Ebrahim Rigi, a Hero
A Baloch physician was beaten to death by the Islamic Republic. His crime was treating injured protesters. He was arrested at the beginning of protests and was released on bail. He was arrested again this week and murdered. From his last Instagram post:
"We had a lot of dreams in this land. We tell ourselves maybe we're dead and this is our hell. Maybe that is true." "I didn't know treating the injured and objecting the murder of our sisters and brothers are sins" "know that not even my death, not even my execution would matter to me because I've been killed multiple times in this land" "I've been offered to leave this country but I won't leave my city."

The Tragic Tale of Shaheed Gul Bahar Bugti and Martyr Murad Ali Bugti: Baloch Refugees in Afghanistan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Introduction:
In the heart-wrenching landscape of conflict and displacement, the story of Shaheed Gul Bahar Bugti and his son Martyr Murad Ali Bugti stands out as a tragic reminder of the price some pay for their pursuit of justice and nationalism. This blog delves into the life of Gul Bahar Bugti, a brave Baloch nationalist, and his son Murad Ali Bugti, who were refugees living in Afghanistan. The fateful incident occurred on Sunday, 20th December 2020, when they were mercilessly martyred by a motorcycle-riding assailant, believed to be linked to Pakistani secret agencies.
The Life and Legacy of Gul Bahar Bugti:
Gul Bahar Bugti, a name synonymous with bravery, fearlessness, and Baloch nationalism, was a prominent figure in the struggle for the rights of the Baloch people. His commitment to the cause was unwavering, even in the face of unspeakable personal loss. Prior to the tragic incident in Kandahar, Gul Bahar Bugti had already endured the heartbreaking loss of four family members - his grandson Nihal Khan Bugti, nephew Zar Khan Bugti, brother Gul Khan Bugti, and son Dar Khan Bugti. The Bugti family had been targeted by Pakistani secret agencies in Afghanistan, underscoring the relentless pursuit of those who dared to stand up against injustice.
Refugee Life in Afghanistan:
Gul Bahar Bugti, like many Baloch activists, sought refuge in Afghanistan to escape persecution in their homeland. Afghanistan, a country with its own tumultuous history, became a sanctuary for those who fought for the rights of the Baloch people. The Bugti family, displaced and scattered, found solace and camaraderie among fellow refugees, forming a tight-knit community bound by a common struggle for justice.
The Martyrdom of Gul Bahar Bugti and Murad Ali Bugti:
On that fateful Sunday in Kandahar, the Bugti family faced yet another tragedy as Gul Bahar Bugti and his son Murad Ali Bugti fell victim to a ruthless attack orchestrated by motorcycle-riding assailants. The attackers, believed to be linked to Pakistani secret agencies, targeted the father and son duo in a brazen display of violence, leaving the Baloch community in shock and mourning.
The Impact on the Baloch Struggle:
Behind the headlines and geopolitical complexities, it's essential to remember the human toll of such conflicts. Gul Bahar Bugti, a father, a brother, and a grandfather, had already borne the weight of profound loss before meeting his own tragic end. Murad Ali Bugti, a son cut down in the prime of life, left behind a grieving family and community.
The Human Toll:
The martyrdom of Gul Bahar Bugti and Murad Ali Bugti sent shockwaves through the Baloch community and beyond. Their deaths highlighted the perils faced by Baloch activists, even in the supposed safety of Afghan soil. The incident underscored the need for international attention and condemnation of such extrajudicial actions by state actors.
Conclusion:
The story of Shaheed Gul Bahar Bugti and Martyr Murad Ali Bugti is a testament to the harsh realities faced by those who dare to challenge oppressive regimes. As the Baloch struggle for justice and autonomy continues, it is imperative for the international community to take notice and condemn such acts of violence. The Bugti family's journey from Balochistan to Afghanistan, marked by displacement, loss, and ultimately martyrdom, is a poignant reminder of the human cost of the pursuit of justice in conflict-ridden regions.

Family Of Pakistani Journalist Says He Is Missing, Police Deny Claim
Many social media users have expressed concern over the disappearance of Abid Mir.
Tumblr media
The family of a Pakistani journalist has claimed that he is missing since Wednesday, according to Dawn. Abir Mir, who also works as a human rights activist in Balochistan, was last seen at an ATM in capital Islamabad on February 8, according to his family. However, the Islamabad Police said on Twitter on Thursday that Mr Mir returned home, but the claim has been denied by his family, the outlet added. As the news about Mr Mir's disappearance spread, social media users expressed concern and demanded that he should be brought back.
Mr Mir's brother Khalid posted a video on Twitter yesterday in which he said that the journalist was in touch with his family and friends till 6.30pm and then disappeared.
Khalid further said that the family is in contact with the police to file an FIR. He added that the journalist had not been involved in any controversial issue and did not face any threat from anyone.
Speaking to Dawn, Khalid said he didn't pay much attention to the news yesterday as Mr Abid often left the house late at night to study with his friends.
But he received a call from Mr Abid's family on Thursday morning and was informed that he is missing.
The Islamabad Police, meanwhile, said in a tweet posted in Urdu that Mr Mir had returned home. They further said that the impression of Mr Abid going missing was false and had been created after the journalist lost contact with his family, according to an English translation of the tweet.
The issue gave ammunition to the opposition to attack the government in Pakistan. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was quoted as saying by The Express Tribune that the number of such cases has increased under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
