Top 8% in BIG Big Run!
Was hoping to beat my placement at Barnacle & Dime Big Run (Top 4%) but I’m still really happy! I managed to beat two Triumvirates and got close at least three other times. I hope the trio of kings gets to enter a regular salmon run rotation (or at least give us Big Runs even after support for Splat3 ends)

Here's Alkaloid for my Splatoon/Enstars AU! All weapons are referring to their Splatoon 3 kits, because that's what I'm most familiar with. I wanna give a shout out to @mdkm444 for making this fanart that inspired this whole AU in the first place. : )
More info on each character below the cut.⬇️
Hiiro
I'm giving him the highest honor I could bestow on a character... My main.
I think Splatana Deco fits him, and how he sees himself at the beginning. It's a very mobile weapon and aggro with a supportive kit. He can easily strife with opponents to draw fire from his teammates, while also setting up beacons, and setting of tentamissles to displace enemies.
The idea is that he mostly sees himself as his brother's "shield" at the beginning, and I feel like having a weapon that supports and takes fire suits that role.
As he grows and gets more comfortable with his place in Alkaloid, he would pick up more aggressive weapons. I just really like the idea of him with dualies. I think he has a lot of fun zipping around with dodge rolls. : )
He runs a lot of Quick Respawn abilities.
I think his backstory would stay mostly the same, actually.
Aira
He's 100% that guy who draws hearts in the enemy base.
He strikes me as the type of person who would play weapons that are meta without fully understanding WHY they're so good.
He started out playing vanilla Splash-o-matic, but he sucks so bad at Crab Tank. Mayoi thought something more mobile would suit Aira, so he recommended Inkbrush and Carbon Roller to him.
Hiyori wears his eye makeup the same way. This is a very important piece of Aira lore.
Mayoi
Mayoi has the biggest change to his backstory out of Alkaloid. He was originally an Octarian Soldier under DJ Octavio.
He was there for the Splat1 final boss and the Calamari Inkantation. He is NOT Agent 8, to be clear. He escaped after Marina, but before Agent 8. He wasn't in the subway. (But the idea of him in the subway is very fun, and that might be something to explore in an AU of this AU.)
He's a huge Squid Sisters fan.
He first escaped to Inkopolis, but it was too overwhelming for him, and he ended up traveling a lot before settling down in ES.
He plays a lot of weapons, and at knows a lot about the weapons he doesn't play. He's extremely skilled and knowledgeable. He's a fantastic coach, and everyone wants them to coach their teams! (Help him.)
Unfortunately, he is still Mayoi and still has severe anxiety! Despite how skilled he is, he's too scared to play alone and is pretty low ranked. That's why he got his status as an "underachiever."
Generally plays a lot of long ranged weapons to stay as far away from the action as he can. Snipewriter is his main, but E-Liter deserves an honorable mention.
Any closer ranged weapons he plays are more supportive than aggressive. This bad boy can pop out so many Inkstorms and Tacticoolers.
I probably should have added Hydra Splatling to his list instead of Heavy Edit tbh? But, eh, he can play both.
I think Snipewriter fits his main really well due to the fact that it has super long range, paints well, and has a supportive kit. At the time I'm writing this, it's also the best competitive weapon in Splatoon 3.
Tatsumi
His backstory is also similar to his canon one.
His leg got damaged and wouldn't repair itself when he respawned, so he had to get it removed it let it regrow naturally. Squids can do that, don't worry about it. : )
The guy who makes sure your base is 100% inked during Turf War.
Me and my friend both agreed it is extremely funny for Tatsumi to run around with his beginner weapon going like ^_^: so that's what he mains.
Then my other friend recommended me what they call "noob trap" weapons, which is mostly short ranged shooters (Sploosh and Aerospray) so I immediately added those to the list. I feel like they suit Tatsumi, and kind of mirror how inept he is with technology in canon.
Despite that, he's actually quite skilled! He does pretty well with short ranged shooters and has fun playing with them. They're his go to choice, but he's experienced in a lot of different weapon classes.
Anyway, you know how the Sunken Scrolls in Splatoon 3 introduced Squid Jesus--

(Agent 96 story from the poll)
3 sat between Callie and Marie, staring off and being unaware of everything besides the beaming summer time heat and her fellow Agents in the distance.
4 was practicing at the row of target bloons, there used to be just 3 but 4 and 8 worked together to add various targets, some moving and others impopable..
They were both so talented...
3's cheeks flushed as she watched 4 tear through the target range with each weapon she had then switch to the next and do it again with ease. The girls movements were perfect anytime she broke from a sprint, 4 instantly swung her weapon and took her target out then the next.
3 wondered if they'd ever be on that level of strength or precision, maybe not but it still was enjoyable to watch 4 at work. The Agents firm muscles catching 3's eye consistently, they showed perfectly with 4's long elegant tentacle, shorts and crop top combined with their hero jacket tied around their waist. Seeing 4 like this made 3's stomach flutter in strange ways... her face was getting way to hot as well..
3 turned their gazed to 8, who was tinkering with various weapons at Sheldon's upgrade station. Though it didn't help 3's situation as the octoling zipped through the contents of a splatling, seeming to know the device like the back of her own hand.
8 had taken off the front barrel of a hydra and grabbed the barrel from a nearby killer wail cannon, somehow gripping the heavy part with one hand showing strength simler to 4's. 8 went on to weld the two items together, taking a brief moment to admire the handy work then instantly diving back into the Frankenstein of a splating.
3 blushed further, these two were astounding. 3 knew how she felt about them but... how would she ever be on their level?
3 hoped she'd ever have the strength to tell them how she felt.
----
4 grunted as she put a full force swing into hitting the target balloon. Destroying the thing instantly. She smirked, having gone through the course with all her weapons three times now. This thing had been a pain for her and 8 to build... though 4 didn't think she deserved much credit, she'd only offered ideas and stuck mechanics together, 8 was the real brains.. she was so smart...
4 took a seat next to her training course, as close to 8 as possible without being to weird. She took the chance to look over the marvel of weapon tech, 8 had stuck together. 4 went over the amount of carefully connected components and clever welding it took to form a hydra with a killer wail, in her head and admired 8's skills even more. A blush overtakeing her.
She really hopped no one noticed her staring at 8's mechanics outfit and tied up tentacles, 8 was very pretty girl.... 4 never had the heart to say that to her though...
"H-Hey 4 mind i-if... I uh, try the training course?" 3 approached timidly, 4 found their nervousness adorable given the girl always looked so tough from afar. Oddly 4 got the same happy and bubbly feeling when 3 was around as she did with 8...
"Of course ya dummy, it's a training course for all of us. It's about time I see you try it out." 4 remarked with a lighthearted shoulder punch then stood back to give 3 room.
3 flashed a smile in response then rested their hero shot. 3 definitely didn't match 4 in strength or precision but her agility and tactical prowess were more then enough to burn through the training course.
4 was impressed with how efficiently 3 cleared it on their first go. Sure it was a bit slow and she manged to get knocked over by one of the reinflating balloons but still. Though 4 was a bit biased, she loved to watch 3 at work and this was no different, why was a question 4 had yet to understand.
A call from 8 caught her attention before she could ponder it.
"Maybe one day I can tell them about this weird feeling.." she mumbled
----
"4,3! I believe it's finished." 8 smiled confidently while wiping the sweat from her head.
"That hydra + killer wail thing you've been crafting?" 3 sat her gun down and walked over with 4.
"The Wailing Hydra." 4 stated matter of factly with a hint if teasing.
"Yup! Been putting this together all day, not to mention designing it.." 8 held the weapon up proudly, clearly struggling to support the weight. It was a hydra mixed with a killer wail, various tubed, braces and an extra large tank were required to make it so that was a given. "Who wants the first test run? I don't want to be using it if it explodes." 8 laughed with her statement though 3 didn't seem to catch that given her worried expression.
8 couldn't help but find it cute, 3 was a softie at heart and everyone knew it. It made 8 found of the girl... she assumed the butterflies thinking about them gave her was nothing though.
"I'll try it!" 4 reached out to grabbed the weapon from 8, her smile a mix of chaos and excitement.
"Careful! It's hea-....vy?." 8 was surprised when 4 easily held up the weapon with just one hand
"Eh a bit." Was all 4 said as she admired the thing, the tank inside taking ink from her own tank. It needed a full tank of ink to work. "I think it's full so stand back."
8 flushed seeing 4's pure confidence as the sound of mechanical whirling filled the air. The weapon audiblely pumped ink into the main firing mechanism and soon enough it was ready to fire.
4 let go of the trigger and a massive beam of yellow ink exploded from the barrel, a solid stream of destruction landing where ever she aimed, one that even popped the normally unpoppable balloons.
4 laughed as if this was the most fun she'd ever had. 8 watched on in admiration, why was this hot..? Must just be a random thought.... yeah totally.
Eventually the beam died down. 4 turned back around with a face of pure joy "That. Was. AWESOME!" 4 hugged 8 in appreciation, unaware of how the octoling instantly felt her whole face flush.
"N-No problem." 8 said trying and failing to keep her cool til 4 let go and then ranted about the amazing handling and all around great design, 8 felt lightheaded from the praise from a girl she looked up too.
Timidly 3 interrupted "Hey uh.. c-coukd I try, it looked fun..." 4 smiled brightly and handed 3 the weapon and made sure she was handling it right.
8 watched 4 instruct 3, her face still burning... maybe one day she could admit what they made her feel

Quick first impressions of Heavy Edit Splatling and Crableg Capital
Seasons launch at 2 AM my time, so I only have so much time to play during the initial launch period, but nevertheless I got some games in, so here's my thoughts so far:
Heavy Edit is strange. Strange in a way that I think people who don't play Splatlings won't get. The medium range and long charge time combines with the high mobility and crazy damage to create something that feels incredibly distinct. It's kind of like a Mini Hydra Splatling. It's gonna take us a while to figure out I think, but it feels like it has a ton of potential.
I actually really liked Crableg! Control of the grate bridge is very important, but there's approximately one billion places to get up to it, and it's a pretty vulnerable position to be in in the first place. Getting back in might be difficult if your team is very heavily outranged, but it's not impossible. Possibly my favourite Splatoon 3-exclusive Stage, and absolutely the best thing around that has "capital" in its name.

Thoughts on sizzle season 2024 weapons after getting them to 3 star freshness:
Wellstring V: it took a little to learn how to play it, but once I figured that out, boy, it was fun. It also paints a whole lot, though all the bows do, so it was kind of a given.
Mint Decavitator: it's pretty fun, though I'm still having a bit of trouble with the dash range. I also think the other kit will be better.
Custom Hydra Splatling: Hydra itself is already in a pretty rough spot, and this kit doesn't really help it too much. It's very defensive, so unless your team-mates step up you'll be o defence the whole game. Lucky for me I always got matched with at least one person who died no less than ten times.
Custom Range Blaster: it's very fun, but also VERY hit-or-miss. The highs are mountains, and the lows are trenches.
Bamboozler 14 Mk II: Bamboo is fun. Clam Blitz in Anarchy Open is not.
Custom Douser Dualies FF: I never really cared much for the Dousers, and I can't say these ones strike a chord with me either. I may give them a go during splatfest though, as they paint well.
Recycled Brella 24 Mk II: this weapon is just sad, really. It trades the shield strength for shot strength but it doesn't have enough range to actually fight. I would say this is the better kit for what it needs to do, but it REALLY wanted a bomb over Mist. Maybe if bamboo got torp so this could have fizzy. Oh well. 3rd kit or next game needs to save this weapon.
Custom Wellstring V: I think I can safely say I enjoy this weapon. I do prefer the other kit though, the Bomb is nice and wave can often feel like such a nothing special. All in all, it feels quite similar to explo, which is one of my personal favourites.
Charcoal Decavitator: First two stars were enjoyable, the last was not. I think I just lost my footing, but I really didn't like playing this because of that last stretch.
Heavy Edit Splatling Nouveau: Heavy Edit is insanely fun, I have no idea why I never really gave it a second thought until the end of last season. That said, I'll probably pick this one because it doesn't have the responsibility of cooler.

Introducing to you- the Scrapling! Specifically the first in the three (yes three) kits, the Mercury Scrapling! I'm still pondering the third kit, but I have this one and the second one done!
Tumblr media
This specific set of Splatlings are comprised of scrap that one octoling found in the Deep Sea Metro while stuck there.
It's comprised of reclaimed parts, specifically a fire hose, a lawnmower bag and pull cord, reclaimed cans from specials, weapons or subweapons, and several scrap bits of railing!
The explanation and dissection of this weapon got long winded, so off to the read more it goes-
The range is that of the Mini Splatling, but the damage is comparable to that of the Hydra! (For meta stats, because I myself am a nerd and I know someone who reads this will also be a nerd for these stats. 500 DPS, which isn't quite so much as the Hydra Splatling... but it's a trade off for increased mobility.) This is a middle weight weapon,
This was made with the intent of mowing down whatever decides to try and get close to try and splat the wielder. Unlike the Splatlings, which charge before shooting, the Scrapling functions as a burst shooter more akin to the Nozzlenoses. This is due to the fact it has a pull cord as opposed to a trigger for firing. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the weapon and the parts used, the Scrapling does suffer from ink recovery lag after 3 pulls of the cord. This doesn't necessarily stop from continuous shooting until your tank is empty, but it is definitely something to be aware of.
The Mercury Splatling specifically is aimed for damage and slaying, hence the subweapon and special weapon that have been put on this kit!
The Point Sensor is good for sniffing out any hidden adversary on the field, and better allows the wielder to know when to pull to minimize struggling with ink recovery lag. It also adds pressure to your adversaries, since it tells you their location even through walls. Given the average mobility on the Scrapling, it's possible if you happen to be quick enough you can cut them off at the pass and take them out that way.
The Ultra Stamp gives more range, and really drives home the destruction (and inkage) this weapon can deal! Either stamp until your time is up, or utilize the range that comes from a throw of the stamp to take out someone on a high ledge or is otherwise out of range from the Scrapling itself! The mowing part is really emphasized with how the Ultra Stamp really mows down whatever is between it and wherever its decided to go, instantly splatting whatever goes under it.
Overall, this set is 100% about damage, both strategic (when combining the main weapon with the Point Sensor) and reckless (with the special). The other two have very different builds, and I will come back and link them up top when I get to posting them!

So with the new trailer that just dropped today for Drizzle Season 2
youtube
I noticed that they’re not adding any shooters this time; this is the first time where there hasn’t been a single shooter in an update.
With how everything’s been distributed over the seasons, this is very much a good thing. But then I got to thinking about the weapons they’re adding overall and things there aren’t so good…
This season will add ten new weapons (8 kits and 2 new weapons). That is a record low for this game. And after this update, how many weapons are left that don't have second kits? 21.
.52 Gal
Squeezer
Blaster
Range Blaster
S-Blast
Flingza Roller
Painbrush
Squiffer
E-Liter
Bamboozler
Snipewriter
Explosher
Dread Wringer
Hydra Splatling
Nautilus Splatling
Heavy Edit Splatling
Splat Dualies
Glooga Dualies
Undercover Brella
REEF-Lux
Splatana Stamper
It's been an entire year, and not every weapon has a second kit yet; that is ridiculous. All but 5 of these are weapons that have been in the game since launch; some players will need to wait over a year just to get a second kit, that is pathetic.
It gets worse when you look at another trend the devs have been doing. So far, they've added new weapons for most of the classes in the game
Shooters: Splattershot Nova
Rollers: Big Swig Roller
Chargers: Snipewriter 5H
Brushes: Painbrush
Blasters: S-Blast 92
Sloshers: Dread Wringer
Splatlings: Heavy Edit Splatling
If they follow this all the way through, we’ll also get a new Dualie, Brella, Stringer, and Splatana. That, times two, equates to 8 more weapons to add with the updates: that's now 29 weapons to add before updates stop.
With the rate they've been adding weapons, we will just barely get a second kit for every weapon by the second Sizzle Season, the last major update of the game. But that also means it's unlikely for any weapon to get a third kit, something that's been done in both the first and second games.
If Splatoon 3, the game that celebrates itself by having the number 3 everywhere, doesn't have 3rd kits at all… that's unacceptable…
The Splatoon dev team needs to pick up the pace with the weapon kits if they don’t want this game to be the one that handles giving weapons kits the most poorly.

I'm a massive fan of both splatoon's unique weapons and unique brands, so when I found out that (most) weapon's secondary kits weren't just random words, but actual weapon brands, I went down a massive rabbit hole trying to learn as much as I could about it! But it also got me thinking of another issue...
See, many many people (including me) want third kits for every weapon. HOWEVER, outside of a handful of brands, most weapon brands derive their second kits by just slapping their brand name on it (Custom Jet Squelcher and Luna Blaster Neo come to mind). In-universe, the only way third kits existed in previous games was through collaboration with other brands: Ammo Knights gave us Sheldon's Picks, and Toni Kensa gave us the Kensa Collections.
Obviously, there are many ways to expand on this idea, and I wanted to mess around with it! So, without further ado, here's an idea for a more unique weapon collection:
The Custom X Collection!
The Custom X Collection is a collaboration between the Custom weapon brand and three different gear brands to bring you 6 brand new weapon kits, with their own unique stickers and skins! Some of these gear brands have a history of collaborating with other weapon brands, but many of these are just recently steeping their toes into the world of weapon kits!
(And, before I begin, these kits were make with Yaga's Weapon Kit Generator, with edited Splatoon 3 art by me.)
Custom X Annaki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Annaki brand is making its weapon kit debut with two very aggressive weapon kits! The Annaki Jet Squelcher can clear plenty of space with its Triple Ink Strike, as well as clean up any of its teammate's messes with its own range or its Burst Bomb sub. Meanwhile, the Annaki Blaster can locate bad guys with its Torpedo and hunt them down with the new Kraken Royale!
Custom X Forge
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Forge's new kits build upon the power of Custom's main weapon by giving them solid tools to keep themselves safe and assist their team. The Forge Hydra Splatling can enforce its zone of control much more strongly with its Splash Wall and Wave Breaker, letting it hold riskier positions and pick off anyone trying to sneak around it! And the Forge Explosher can give its team cover from afar with the new Super Chump special while sniffing out anyone trying to approach it with its Autobomb sub.
Custom X Zekko
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The new Zekko kits have the most variety between them. The Zekko Dualie Squelchers can limit bad guys' movement with its Suction bomb while rolling all around them, and it can get behind the enemy and shoot them from a safe distance with its Zipcaster special! The Zekko Goo Tuber, meanwhile, can sniff out enemies to snipe with its Point Sensor sub, and its Ink Storm special not only elps cover the ground with paint it can swim through, but it also enforces the space it's trying to control!
That's all I've got for now. Also, I'm no game designer, I just made these kits for fun. Let me know what you think of them, and if you'd use any of these kits!

I love the design of the Heavy Edit Splatling and how awesome it plays, but it’s just a full blown balancing disaster!
The cut explains my thoughts
It nearly has the range of the Heavy Splatling, it moves faster than the Mini Splatling, and has the gimmick of firing as fast as the Ballpoint Splatling at short range mode, all while being accurate, painting aggressively, and having a really good ink efficiency.
Really it’s only cost is it’s slow charge up on its second charge. Second charge. That means you can run this thing using only your first charge and you’d still be better than the Heavy Splatling because of mobility.
The Mini Splatling’s main gimmick is its fast charge up and movement speed, but the cost is having a much shorter range and horrible ink efficiency in order to keep it from holding a choke point hostage forever.
The Hydra’s DPS increases on its second charge as well, as it’s damage value increases instead of its fire rate. It has a ridiculous damage output as a result. This comes with the cost of slow mobility and charge time, so it also has longer range than the Heavy.
The Edit has insane DPS and range for the mobility, efficiency, and charge time it has (about 1 second for heavy splatling range with mini mobility).
Sheldon mentions that the Heavy Edit has a lower damage value than the other splatlings but has a faster fire rate, but while it is lower than Heavy’s 30, it is still a 4 shot splat. I feel or think that a nerf to its damage value to become a 5 to 6 shot splat would make it feel better, considering how Edit basically has a 25% DPS boost for no real reason.
This makes it a very mobile weapon that can do it all: mobility, painting, range. However if someone were to surprise you, then it would take 6 shots to splat them, an abysmal 24 frames. It’s possible, sure, or maybe you shouldn’t have let them get so close before you got to your second charge, which flips the story on its back. It’s second charge fire rate turns that 6 shot TTK into a mere 18 frames. This is only 2 frames slower than the heavy, but considering how fast you move combined with how long you can pick off someone from, this is a good compromise. Now this is a splatling that is much more awkward to deal with sudden opponents than other splatling, but can completely dominate when it brings itself to the situation and not the other way around. It should maintain its really good accuracy, it makes tracking up close harder as well as compensating for its lower damage per shot.
Now it really is a Heavy Edit Splatling. Use its heavy fire rate to oppress any opposition back, giving the world to yourself and your teammates. Edit the battlefield with your presence, moving the frontline back and forth to your whim. And if someone would dare step out of line, it’s splat with a lingering satisfaction.

SPLATOON Predictions!!
New weapon predictions!!
I am not qualified!!
Chill season got 3 new weapons: Nova, Big Swig, and Snipewriter.
The common thread? All of them were an ungodly hybrid of each weapon classes' (Shooters, Rollers, Chargers) lightweight/shortest-range and heavyweight/longest-range weapon. See evidence. Children and their parents.
Splattershot Nova
Same damage as Aerospray (5 hits to Splat), coupled with its high rate of fire and a noticeable spread (not very accurate)
Jet Squelcher tones down some of the aerospray features and gives it a good long range
Big Swig Roller
Carbon Roller's rapid swing, fast run and low damage
Dynamo-like ink coverage in wide roll and swing
Snipewriter 5-H
Bamboozler is a two hit charger with rapid fire
E-liter's massive charge time and long range
I imagine some (but probably not all) new weapons this fresh season (2023) will follow the same philosophy.
:O
Here's me spitballing some possible candidates:
Sloshers Bloblobber and Tri-slosher
This slosher will have three paths of blobs. Each path will have fewer blobs (less than 4) and be a shorter range than Bloblobber.
Splatlings Hydra and Mini-Splatling
This splatling will have a long charge time, but will have a medium range and a very high mobility as it fires. Like it will run at you as it fires type speed. It does not store charge. It probably wouldn't be able to recharge halfway-through unloading like Nautilus or Ballpoint do.
Blasters Rapid Blaster Pro and Clash Blaster
It has the rapid fire from Clash with a range from Rapid-Pro. Both aspects will probably be less than the parents. Damage may be reduced some, with at least a 4-indirect splat, if not 5. No one is happy with this weapon.
It's not out of the question, but a lot of the other weapon classes just don't have enough variety to make a hybrid of the heavyweight and lightweight; they just need more weapons in those classes to begin with. I don't think I could make a feasible prediction for those classes using this weapon design philosophy from the Chill Season.
I also think my hypotheticals above hold merit because the Chill Season update's weapons were the original classes in Splatoon 1. Fresh Season may follow chronologically with the Splatlings, Sloshers, or Blasters, since those arrived with Splatoon 1 updates. That being said, I doubt that the new weapons this season will all be from those classes, probably just one or two.
I'm deadass curious to what other people think the new weapons could be? Tell me?? In the comments??? Please????

splatoon 3 end of season 1 summary post
hii so since i actually have an opportunity to bookmark my feelings about the game now in context to when it’s still happening, i wanna like talk abt a general list of my stats atm and how i feel abt the game and what i want to see next... long af under the cut probs so beware
general set of stats first:
- 270 hours in it atm - level 46, s+2 highest (and current) - total wins: 792, turf inked: 1,203,542p, badges: 59 - i’m on catalog #4, level 13
- 4* weapons (since i have no 5*): range blaster, octobrush, goo tuber - 3* weapons: aerospray mg, rapid blaster pro, e-liter 4k, e-liter 4k scope, tri-slosher, explosher, ballpoint splatling, dark tetra dualies, tri-stringer - weapons not played at all: splat roller*, inkbrush*, splat charger*, mini splatling, dapple dualies, undercover brella * these weapons were in the testfire where i did try all of them
- best splat zones stage (according to the app, by winrate): museum apparently?  100% winrate - best tower control stage: hagglefish 77.8% - best rainmaker stage: mincemeat 100% :) this is not a single-match winrate hehe - best clam blitz stage: undertow 100% - maps i haven’t played sz on: eeltail, sturgeon, wahoo - maps i haven’t played tc on: eeltail - maps i haven’t played rm on: (none) - maps i haven’t played cb on: ...y’all ready.  scorch, hagglefish, mincemeat, hammerhead, museum, mahi, inkblot, sturgeon, makomart, wahoo
- best salmon run rank: eggsecutive 625 i think? (gone fission, all randoms, grizzco brella) - scales: 541 bronze (saving for a 600 item), 8 silver (just bought black suit), 5 gold (i want goldie statue) - 795 shifts worked, 203998p total points, 67 king salmonids defeated - highest salmon run shift score: idr the exacts bc i didn’t screenshot it i guess but it was 156 gold eggs
- - - - -
now as for some general thoughts on the state of the game: - weapons i think are the best (overall, in meta): splash, hydra - weapons i think are the worst: undercover brella.  need i say more - weapons i don’t really like fighting atm: n-zap... evergreen, splatana stamper, dapple dualies - other notes: beakons are still the devil, crab and bubbler are obnoxious, tacticooler not being breakable sucks shit, and the kit distribution in this game is kinda bad atm but it’ll get better as more come in
- stages i think are the best: makomart (of course), museum, hammerhead - stages i think are the worst: mahi, scorch - stages i don’t really like playing atm: ...mahi, scorch, but also eeltail can be awful - other notes: this game’s map design isn’t as bad as people say but i do kinda wish there were more options to get around the stage, esp when they take one of the large stages (undertow) this patch and shrink it in turf, this will chill out as more stages come out tho so
thoughts on each mode:  - turf: it’s the same as ever but i wanna just say i saw a post that was like “ppl who say only the last 30s matter are ppl who don’t paint spawn” and i just wanna say like.  how can you be that wrong.  like i’m sorry turf is fine but acting like a single large sweep near the end can’t reverse a match is idiotic  - tricolor: SO fun.  will touch on the upcoming patch changes later but even in base game, all the like 3 times i got to play it, it was so fun.  i think it needs work tho still cuz defending being spawncampable is so stupid  - sz: this mode is still just kinda “wall out middle once you have it” which.  let’s be real that’s how like half of turf war matches go -- i kinda wish this mode had some kind of switch up or at least the zones would be unconventional places on each map rather than just being a center square most of the time.  probably my overall least favorite but still fun  - tc: bad bitch coming through -- ok but actually no, 2nd fav.  bubbler on tower is ridiculous, and i think in general this mode still suffers from a large amount of Clunk around the tower itself interacting with geometry, but its fun!  it didn’t change much from 2 so that’s the end of my thoughts  - rm: fav mode since 1, still my fav mode -- it’s a lot less like, “steal the show” -ish, but its heavy emphasis on movement while still centralizing on a single object makes it my fav mode.  tc is a bit too boring and cb a bit too chaotic for my tastes, so this is just so perfect.  checkpoints are cool but also we need to literally force people to use them so they don’t skip them.  also makomart rm is still intact :) peace and love on planet earth  - cb: i never really Like liked this mode but i thought it was at least on par with sz in terms of like bullshit nonsense that can just Happen Sometimes.  like funny beakon brushes in 2 made that mode a complete nightmare in terms of like “ok guys let’s set up a pu- They Broke Our Basket!” shit and in this game, with the lowered clam requirement overall for a superclam, it makes the mode just like.  play faster?  plus the more hallway-esque maps work well here because you don’t have to monitor 3 separate fucking lanes like you would in 2 -- i’m still kinda wary of playing it a lot hence my lack of stages seen, but it seems to be a lot better and i’m happy about it :)
thoughts on the game as a whole:  - lack of content from 2 (gear, variants, stages) got me missing it kinda rn but all the qol, movement, and new content added make it worth staying with 3 anyways -- this won’t be a problem when the game is ending its life cycle but for now it’s just kinda annoying (esp with some reveals this patch... more on that later)  - i really like the direction overall in terms of like.  more weapons, more subs, more specials, more abilities, more gear, more options.  it feels a lot easier to navigate and manage than splatoon 2, and i feel it’ll become an insanely good game in the latter parts of its life
thoughts on general “what i want to see in the future” stuff:  - 3rd kits for every weapon... please dear god like genuinely we just need them.  15 (or more.) specials and however many subs and we still have 2 inkjet weapons in the game right now like genuinely we need more kits than ever and i hope we see a lot - speaking of, i hope we get to finally have at LEAST a 3rd brush, if not 5 -- as well as more dualies, brellas, splatlings, sloshers, splatanas, and stringers.  i know we’ll probably get enough to fill out the roster on those last 2, but i hope they don’t neglect the other weapons tbh.  i also wouldn’t mind seeing like “pro” or other alternate variants of weapons, like a bamboozler pro, undercover brella pro, splatana wiper pro, etc. etc. -- these would have unique properties in the same way rapid & rapid pro vary from each other, altho they could also do things like dodge rolls, unique mechanics or bullets, etc. etc.  - a LARGE majority, if not ALL stages returning.  since this game is more or less the finale in a trilogy, i think making this game kinda the “smash ultimate” of splatoon makes a lot of sense -- i think it’d be so nice for the game’s overall diversity if we have basically every map, and i’d like to see how they get reworked as controversially i really like the redesigned maps (outside of mahi anyways) - a new ranked mode.  this one is probable, but i just really think we could use another tbh -- i want to see what they can do considering how the game has evolved, and also i’d like it to be another unique mode in that it doesn’t run the same overall playstyle of tc and rm -- cb is kinda like them but it’s different enough imo - custom kits in private battles -- this one is super out there, and i think it’d be a very late end-of-life feature to massively increase the game’s competitive potential and really make this game the peak of what it could be.  i don’t think this should be added until the end of its life just for the sake of posterity, and i think i’d like it to accompany an update where you can more or less make “decorated” weapons for your locker in the same way -- and those would be usable in battle here.  also tricolor in privates at the end of the game’s life or ELSE.
thoughts on 2.0.0: - new weapons are SO fun i’m so excited to have them all.  new variants too - both new stages look fantastic and i can’t wait to experience them -- brinewater has one of my favorite overall looks in the series too - marooners coming back is so nice - the balance tweaks are SO nice -- splatana and stringer buffs are so good in game, all the changes i made i think are really good - HOWEVER.  however.  overall, i think this is really kinda underwhelming and spelling a very sparse future for the game.  if we’re only getting 10-13 weapons every 3 months and 2 stages ... less than we would in the game if the drops were monthly like splat 2, ... it’s not looking good.  i hope they hear feedback on this and consider upping the overall count.  i would personally like it to be around 12-16 weapons (including new and variants), 3 maps (one new, one from 1, one from 2 where possible), and 1 new sr map/grizzco weapon per season - also the no halloween splatfest this year... i get it but also like i don’t like it.  i don’t think splatoween was ever realistically coming but it was weird having such a gap.  hopefully we get a normal christmas splatfest this year and then like.  splatoween + frostyfest next year
and now i’m going to put this after a huge break but i wanna talk abt leaks/datamines so if you don’t want to see that, close the post now!  thank you for reading

thoughts on leaked/datamined stuff: - another new special terrifies me, considering we already have so many, but it could be cool -- hopefully we see it before the end of the game’s life LMAO - i wouldn’t actually mind more subs out of all things, angle shooter is kinda just there and we could do so much more than just having it tbh - need all the new sr enemies to come, especially if balloon isn’t a boss but instead another on the roster of generic enemies, which i think would be nice as we didn’t get anymore this update - hopefully we get new king salmonids every other season, so 3/5/7 -- and big run stages once a season, i hope the next one is a splat 3 stage as well - i hope sr gets some new events and that some of the datamined bosses relate to them, esp ghost.  need ghost to be a spooky night stage mode - i hope the leaked special sr shift modes (pair, etc.) are actually going to be 8 player and that they finally put splashdown back in the mode (as is intended, it’s coded to show up but omitted) - jukebox is coming in season 3 and the music name change is a precursor, mark my words - silver splash and gold dynamo are so sexy.  i hope all the weapons get cool new colors instead of stickers altho only custom jr. has broken this trend so far.  i also hope we get a mix of kensa, sheldons picks, and another (barazushi?  red and blue weapons would be hype) as a 3rd kit.  i know kensa says “limited time” but it would be cool if there were the occasional ones still - hell i hope more brands get weapon tie-ins in general, i hate the lack of them in the game atm since there are so many brands like give them all weapons and shit ... come on - makomart tricolor looks like it’ll be a fun mess.  eeltail tricolor looks like it’s not done but i hope it uses its beta middle layout (which is closest to sz in the final game) - the reef will probs come back in season 3 but i’ll be sad as i don’t rly like having to waste slots on the more simplistic maps - i would scream if they “upgrade” a shifty station into an actual stage and release it alongside the paid dlc bc it’s one marina made, in the same way pearl contributed to camp triggerfish - the maps i generally want to see back are like: urchin w a streamlining, bluefin with a streamlining, beta saltspray specifically as a tricolor exclusive or sr stage / humpback, moray2, kelp2, snapper2 (beta middle? pleek), shellendorf remodel, arowana2, albacore, and anchov with a mix of its splat 1 and 2 layouts. - i am PRAYING that camp, saltspray final, skipper, and goby don’t come back.  esp the mirrored maps (saltspray / skipper) as they’re always a complete mess layout wise and balancing wise and we can do better
wow that was so much text.  ok i’m done writing now bye like a nd subscrieb for more !^!^!!%JJ!J!!!1 i’ll do another one of these when season 2 is nearly ending so * points * also lmk what u think splatutals ^_^ UPDATE more got datamined while i was writing this -- let me just add my thoughts real quick - mincemeat tricolor is so WEIRD but it looks cool... afraid of it getting spawncamped tho - undertow tricolor ... the turf update makes more sense now.  i really like this one tho but i love undertow in general so

*barges through door* You're open! Yes! I couldn't fit my Hydra Splatling in my suitcase in the move out here, and splat battling without it just doesn't feel right. You.. you've got them at this location, right? Does it still come with the Splashdown?
"Oh, yes, yes, of course we still have it! The kit has changed, though, you won't find Splashdown in any of these weapon sets I'm afraid--but! The Hydra now comes with Booyah Bomb! Which, if you ask me, is much more fitting. It's true the Hydra doesn't have a lot of close-range options, but at least this grants armor for a short period and can be thrown from the Hydra's usual hiding spots!"

Splatoon weapon mains of sekai characters in my minds eye cause I’m bored.
Ichika: probably never got around to buying any other weapons and as such is a jr. main by default
Saki: could also be a jr main, but I could also see her using a roller or aerospray.
Honami: Honami is a hard one for me Tbn since nothing strongly jumps out at me, but for some reason she gives me splatling vibes, so I’m gonna say heavy maybe? Or hydra
Shiho: either brella or undercover, I just feel it in my heart
Minori: either a rly bad roller main or a surprisingly scary octobrush main. More likely roller though
Haruka: I could see her being either a duelies main or a stamper main, but I doubt she’s good at either lol
Airi: either a frontline weapon like sploosh or a very special spammy support weapon like reef. I could see her dabbling in both
Shizuku: either tent or aerospray, depends on which she tries first
Kohane: idk why but she gives me such strong blaster main vibes. I could see her just maining normal blaster, but I could also see her maining clash or range.
An: again idk why I got such an immediate strong vibe from her but in my heart I know she’s a slosher main who’s garbage at it. She’s tried maining tri and explosher but always comes back to vanilla slosher
Akito: look at me. He’s a pro main. He doesn’t care abt splatoon that much but if you call his weapon mid he will fight you abt it. He’s a pro loyalist.
Toya: tbh I have like. No fucking idea what he’d play. I could see him using duelie squelcher, or jet squelcher, or sploosh, tbh you could tell me he mains just abt anything and I be like sure why not. Except for chargers I know in my heart he wouldn’t be a charger main
Tsukasa: look. Look at this man. Look into his soul. He’s an aerospray main.
Emu: I feel like most ppl would probably give her a frontline or otherwise pretty speedy weapon, but idk I just feel like she’d use all the stupid slow weapons and be GOOD at them. She’s that scary as shit e-liter main that is ruining everyone’s fun
Nene: Nene definitely tried to be a charger main, but just could not get the hang of it so now she’s a basic bitch splash main. Cringe /j
Rui. Bloblober.
Kanade: tbh she’s another one I have like no real ideas for, but ig I could see her playing a semi? It’d murder her hands and she wouldn’t recover but idk I could see her playing squeezer. That’s if she ever got around to buying a weapon that’s not jr in the first place fhskfhskhf
Mafuyu: she’d probably initially try playing back line weapons but then the second she tires playing frontlines that’s it bro. I don’t think she has a super consistent main but she’d probably play inkbrush and sploosh a lot
Ena: uhhhhhhhhhhhhh idk machine maybe? Gonna be real with you I don’t have a lot of ideas for 25ji in general fjshfjshf
Mizuki: again I don’t have a lot of solid ideas for them but I imagine they’d probably play a support weapon? So like zap or jr or smth like that.

going on a big fat analysis/rant about my ideal weapon comp for salmon run. this is coming from someone in freelance EVP who at least has the evp 200 badges for every stage. letsa go
weapon 1: sploosh-o-matic. crazy high dps and mobility makes it a menace against lessers and cohocks, and able to paint its immediate area very well. very useful in keeping the ground covered and the lessers cleared for its teammates with bulkier weapons, along with being good at shore runs due to its mobility
weapon 2: tri-stringer. OK HEAR ME OUT. this one is heavily biased but its my dream loadout so i get to pick the weapons. stringer is just better charger imo. can one-three shot most bosses with a full charge while also being really good at painting and lesser clearing with its burst shots. you dont even need to fully charge it to get value the half charges work just as well clearing out chum. also it got buffed recently so its even stronger ✌️
weapon 3: fingza or dynamo roller. personally, i think glowflies is such an impactful wave that having a weapon solely dedicated to making it easier is viable. roller is here for glowflies, first and foremost. i lean towards dynamo because it can roll over cohocks and also is amazing on gusher rounds, but flingza is a bit more freelance friendly while also still being able to oneshot steelheads and deal with glowflies
weapon 4: jet squelcher. this is the kill-stinger-from-relative-safety weapon. on most stages it can wipe them out without having to put itself in immediate danger. its also a shooter so it immediately has decent mobility. honestly you could put just about any shooter weapon here and itd be good i just prefer the range of jet
and some honorable mentions that could also work:
- heavy or hydra splatling. hydra is fucking goated in salmon run especially on king salmonids, but is very difficult to use in freelance. heavy is a little more freelance friendly while still being really strong. its more or less tied with jet squelcher on slot 4
- squiffer. my personal favorite charger in salmon run. fast and mobile while still dealing good damage at the cost of some range. piercing shots are real good for hoarde clearing. it can replace tri if youre more of a charger enjoyer
- splatana wiper. goddamn the piercing shots and mobility are so fun. also its painting is insane. a very good and solid choice
- dapple dualies. highest dps in the game in turret mode, so you just demolish lessers and most bosses. this one can replace sploosh if youre good with dualies(i am not)
